Let's start of by saying I biased toward rich ceo/poor girl type of romance type stories. That's being said, Out of all the dramas I've watched last year, I've finished this one the fastest. Before I knew it, I was already at the end. I watched it for the female lead and second male lead after seeing them in different drama production. The female lead retained her cuteness from "ever night" and became a modern day princess of cuteness. The storyline was just easy to watch and there were no annoy side storylines to drag out the plot. And this one of the most understanding second female lead ever. Just watch it if you like rich man saving the poor girl from poverty type story. They hate each other at first but end up falling for each other.

Love the Height Difference

I tumbled upon this series using the tag #arrogant male, watching the show in Mandarin. As far as I know there isn't any subbed version available, which is strange considering the fact that the lead actress is Canadian.

Following the story wasn't really difficult though. Imagine a k-drama from 10 years ago, about an arrogant, young heir, his antagonistic dad, his friend turning into foe, a rich girl who wants to marry him, and this fresh poor girl who turns his world upside down. So I didn't put much effort in listening, and looked my fill instead. The scenes with the leading couple were sweet and sexy, they looked like a manga come alive. Their acting was good, I'll give you that, but it was the height difference that did it. Works like a charm with me since Boys over Flowers.

Actress Ireine Song is totally believable as the innocent girl without getting on my nerves, something she has in common with actress Zanilia Zhao. I think I'll watch her playing in Ever Night next time. I've never seen actor Yim Yue Ho/Jerry Yan, but he seems to be a perfect blend of good looking k-drama actors. Hopefully he gets the chance in future roles to show he's more than the arrogant male type.

To be honest, this is your cliche rich man, poor woman drama, except the two main characters are absolutely adorable throughout the whole story. It's not a terrible drama at all. I've never watched Jerry Yan in a drama before but he was actually pretty good, he wasn't the best, sometimes I cringed at how "heartless" and "cold" he was because I was like, meh, you're trying too hard.. lol. But Ireine song played such a great character that was strong hearted, strong minded and wasn't really that weak. I liked that you can just watch this show to watch it, it honestly does fly by and I liked that the secondary female character didn't cause any massive problems but the main female leads friends were such crap friends. All in all, I loved the chemistry between the two, the female lead was just so sweet, especially when she realized her feelings and he was actually not a terrible guy, even though he played a horrible mean guy, he wasn't bad. I liked that this show kind of pulled at your heart strings and it was predictable but it wasn't all at the same time. This is honestly such a good show if you want something quick and sweet. Definitely watch it.

Cheesy Childish Cute Comedic Couple

Let me guess why this drama is rate low: many people followed Song Yi Ren as San San in Ever Night and expected that she delivered the similar serious acting here (this drama is aired soon after EN ended). But when you see her as a supposedly 22-year old university graduate riding a scooter to work, pairing up with Jerry Yan who is supposedly a 26-year old CEO with 2 teddy bears in his bed, you know this is a cheesy comedy. Also, almost the rest of the major roles did not act like mature adults at most or some point, probably only the secretary. Good chemistry between 2 couples. Long time friendships (20 years and 16 years) are challenged. And both Song Yi Ren and Jerry Yan can sing!

[WARNING: the rating and review I give have the possibility to be subjective due to my preference for the genres, scenes or casts]

First time I saw this drama is on iQiyi. The synopsis seems funny and I'm bit surprised that the male lead named Jerry Yan. The only Jerry Yan I know is the one played Dao Ming Si in Meteor Garden 2001 (^o^;) So I try to watch this drama ... and I can't stop watching! (^_^)

At first, I'm a bit annoyed with Lin Lu's attitude, because she haven't act like a woman, somehow her tomboyish attitude feels exaggerated. But the longer, her attitude changed to be sweeter and cuter. The tomboyish attitude was still there, but it didn't feel excessive like in the beginning.

Shi Lian Shen is so childish and caring at the same time. His childish side makes me exasperated, on the other hand, his caring side makes me scream a scream of joy (^o^) As for Jerry Yan's act, sometimes I can't read his expression. His gesture showed that he annoyed with Lin Lu's attitude, but sometimes at that moment, he seems like he's smiling, not pouting. I don't know, maybe I miss interpreted the expression (^_^;)

But, the interaction between him and Lin Lu always makes me smile (^_^) Their height differences is so cute too! It seems so difficult and tiring to see they're kissing when standing (^o^;)

I love how mature the (should be) antagonist female is. Better than using tricks or hurt the female lead, she choose the more diplomatic and mature ways (like imitating the style and being friends). Those ways are more elegant in my eyes and gain some respects. But, it's a different story for the second male lead. I never thought that he will use a woman who love him and he loved--his best friend too--in order to reach his goal. His acting is really great I really hate him when he's on the screen.

The conflict is something between 'complicated' and 'why you make it so complicated?'. Until now I can't classified the conflict between those category. Following the conflict, the closure feels rushing too. In my opinion, it's better if they add 1 more episode to explain some things in those 3 years, or what makes Shi Lian Shen decided to fight for Lin Lu again. They have some of little hole to patch up, but I can make the conclusion that this is a sweet and heartwarming drama worth to watch.

Not great

Strictly speaking none of the actors are great. The ML looks almost disgusted by the FL for more than half of the series and the FL looks like she's 12. The height difference doesn't bother me but the fact that the female lead looks like a little girl and behaves so foolishly makes it hard to really get in to the love story. I understand that she's accident prone and clumsy, but she just seems so young and inexperienced to boot.

I fast forwarded through more than half of this because it wasn't great. The secondary characters and family members also weren't interesting.

Good till it goes completely off the Rails

This drama starts out well.
The acting is pretty good, definitely in the top quarter of dramas I've seen.
The OST is something I usualy don't care about much, but I noticed it here by how impactful yet unnoticeable it was. I rarely really recognized thta the music was there or oding something, but when i checked for it it always worked well to enhance the important scenes.
And the writing is, while filled with tropes and very childish cheesy, still good for the first three quarters. Even with the enteraining way the 'bad Guys' are written just so on the nose plain bad.

*Minor Spoilers ahead*

And then the expected big Breakup happens for the thrid act, and it's shit.
Of course we had the usual Overbearing Mother in there, and the 'problems get massively increased by them not talking to another' trope. I don't liek those tropes, but I can live with them. But here they just had 2 Major, Major problems:

1) The Overbearing Mother is to excessive. She even literally locks here 22 year old daughter in room for fucks sake!

2) The Main reason for the breakup is that someone starts a rumor abotu them online, it beeing a contract and such. And that's it. they just take that as fatal problem, can't do anythign about it. Even though they are an actuall couple at that point, and the rumour poster has posted zero proof or anything. They could literally just say 'no, that is a lie, we are a couple', and convince everyone of that by, well, beeing a couple openly.
And it's not even liek that is the first scandal or romour about them, all the previosu ones they did just beat down with stating 'no, things are like this in fact', and some PR team shenanigans behidn the scenes.

It just completely killed the show for me, and I can only recommend anyone to NOT watch this at all.

Bad Acting/Plot

(cant believe most of the reviews are all so high)
I found this drama through the #arrogant tag and i liked the female actress. I at first really liked this plot because of the contract girlfriend part and how cute the FL was.

Then it started to went downhill...

First the male lead; He looks cute and all but his acting is really bad. He was so expressionless and i really could not see how he liked the female lead. I really could not feel the CHEMISTRY at all.

Next is the female lead; she gives off a bubbly character that makes people like her. What i did not like is how she thinks that she is “perfect”. Whenever something goes wrong, its always ML ‘s fault and never hers. I thought she would feel apologetic but no???? at first i was just telling myself “its ok just continue watching” but i really could not stand it anymore. They say she is naive/innocent but i think she is DUMB. (not her, but the character she is playing)

lastly the 2nd male lead(liang zhi) and FL “best friend” (chen jing) and ; this two people makes me SO SO SO mad. apparently, they and the FL have been living together for 16years and is good friends together. LZ likes the FL, and CJ likes LZ. soooo CJ was jealous that LZ likes FL and proceeds to call the FL a bitch that she is two-timing on LZ and ML, where is just LZ one sided love??? like OMG, you have been friends for 16years for goodness sake and just because of this? i thought it was just a phase or angry remark but NO. she really felt this way like GIRL IS U BLIND?! take note that they are friends for 16years, like bro is that realistic.

anyways if you are okay with all that, proceed to watch. i just felt that they ruined a good plot with some dumb mistakes.
(this is just how i feel, i still love the female lead IRENE SONG though hehe)

I was really excited to watch this series. I feel that the series is too bubbly far too long. Not funny but bubbly. It’s like I watching a teenager rebel. Up to now the female lead is extremely bubbly and immature. Out of all the rich guy poor girl series i have watched this one is the toughest. Some immaturity is acceptable but this is on the extreme. Example: i’ll teach you a lesson by messing up all of your stuff and laying in it. That to me is is not funny but some Disney kids stuff. I made it to episode 10 before I started skipping, then made it to 14 before jumping to the end. I just couldn’t do. I did notice that the character had matured at the end but she was annoyingly imature for 14 out of 24 episodes that I watched. I just couldn’t, I couldn’t power through it. She’s an amazing actress but that character would get on my nerves in real life.

Rich man and poor woman type story or you can say boss and his employee . But direction was not good brought lots of flaw in the story .very first it looked like they were in very hurry to finished the drama . So many unfinished touch in the scenes .the way the lead characters meet it was okay but too fast he easily hired her to the good post then she spoke with him very badly but as a boss he should punish her but he smiled. Such scenes i didn't seen which made a good chemistry between them . No much eye contact and he fall for her and after sometime she fall for and last i guess 5th or 4th episode he confess and she was going to accept so he broke up with her and very last episode they patch and that episode only they have so much romantic scenes . In what hurry they were to finish the drama. I like second couple story ,chemistry and acting more than first leads couple .

This is a good romantic comedy with a nice slow burn but well delivered romance. The acting is not the best but, somehow the leading couple managed to keep the excitement of their affectionate relationship development until the end. The drama has weak supporting characters and the misunderstandings are senseless. Even so, the drama exudes cuteness, a candid second female lead, and a steadfast love from the leading couple. The drama is not perfect and it does have the pointless three year separation where the “Cinderella” comes back as a very successful business woman, but it has a fast pace and it is entertaining.
