Gatchaman is based on a popular anime franchise of the same name created by Tatsuo Yoshida in the early 1970s.

In the movie, a mysterious organization calling itself Galactor declares war on Earth and overwhelms mankind. With half the planet occupied, Dr. Nambu of ISO (International Science Organization) calls upon five people who have received special training since childhood to act as the last hope of mankind: a team of superheroes called Gatchaman.

Both films were directed by Kazuaki, they had the same type of CGI and action. Although Casshern is a Sci-Fi action film, Goemon was more Action/Historical oriented. If you liked one of them you would absolutely like the other.

Casshern is based on a Japanese TV-series. In this movie, the viewer is transported into the future where the world has just seen a big war between an army from the East and an army from Europe. The East won, even though there are still rebellious factions that try to overthrow the government. The war has ravaged the world, and more than ever there is a need for peace and harmony. A scientist is conducting research into a new technology, that can rejuvante bodies and make mankind feel more alive again. The government is not interested in this technology, since they fear it could endanger their position, and the scientist is forced to work together with a sinister organization. As you can probably guess, something goes wrong and before you know it a group of all-powerful superhumans roam the planet, intent on destroying everything and everybody, so that they can rebuild the planet from the ground up.
Enter Casshern, the son of the scientist responsible for these problems. He had died during the war, but his body came back to life in the same way the superhumans did. He gets a special super-armor in order to fight the superhumans and battle commences, especially when he discovers that the superhumans are for some reason holding his mother hostage.

A futuristic research compound develops a new police tool called the Power Glove. Supposedly, it gives the wearer incredible powers by letting him tap into the 'unused 80%' of his mental potential. It turns out that the glove also enables the wearer to take over the minds of others, and one unbalanced police volunteer tries to use this to stage a coup. In the end, one of the three test cops is killed, another survives to stay on the force, and the rogue cop makes his escape. 20 years later, the dead officer's son gives away his identity by using his father's personal martial arts technique in a fighting competition, thus drawing the attention of both the remaining good and evil supercops. The kids and the old guys must then start getting ready for a multi-generational final battle of good vs. evil.

Both are based off Tatsunoko original sci-fi tv series from the 70's. Similar characters and actions(yeah if only if the helmet in Casshern wasn't an easter egg he could've use his deadly laser beam that came out from the crescent of the helmet)

The empirical authorities suspect a huge conspiracy behind the activities of the confederation and assign Sakamoto and Saigo to the case. This eventually takes Sakamoto to the fateful meeting with Oh Hae Rin, the Chosun woman he may have seen in his dreams. Both are dark reimaginations of older Sci-Fi Manga/Anime series

Both are set in a dark post-apocalyptic future that has some of humanity living in a poor area that is largely affected by pollution and serious health issues and the rich care very little about the fact.

Both have the scientist's child die and be "reborn" with superpowers due to the research of the scientist.
