I should admit that this series is a fresh like a brand new fu**ing one! I do love the idea even though I wasn’t sure that I would find a fond of this typical series.

Basically, I am not into action especially the one that tells story about the mob versus police, it always kinda boring and usually made my mood down easily but this one succeeded brake my wall eventually.

If we compared to “Make Our Days Count”, honestly I don’t have any idea which one that I love the most. Because between these two, the have their own specialties that made the choices hard for me.

Now, I can continue watching my 2021 series. But I think I’m gonna sleep first. ?

I’ll just go ahead and write my review for HIStory seasons 1-4 as one review (including both of the season 3 stories).
Season 1 – this is actually just 3 completely unrelated stories. “My Hero” is a supernatural film that is really just kind of weird. Hero’s girlfriend is mistakenly taken by the angel of death and in an effort to keep her soul on earth with Hero, he shoves her into the first available body who happens to also be in love with Hero. “Stay Away from Me” is better and deals with a taboo of new step-brothers who develop feelings for each other and a friend who desperately wants them to be together. “Obsession” is even better and actually rather well written even though there is a supernatural element to it as the lead dies and wakes up alive 9 years earlier. “Obsession” is the only episode in Season 1 that actually opens up the physical side of BL dramas. It’s clear that the writers got better with each episode. Thankfully the remaining seasons were not like this.
Season 2 – This season is 2 separate stories broken into 4 episodes each. Episodes 1-4 are called “Right or Wrong” and involve a professor/student relationship. Episodes 5-8 “Crossing the Line” are about a volleyball team manager and his junior he recruits to play for the team due to his natural ability. The relationship that develops between them is sincere and set at a good pace for only being 4 episodes. There is also another step-brother relationship in this one (this seems to be a favorite theme among the HIStory writers as we will see it yet again in Season 4).
Season 3 – “Trapped” is a hate turned love story between a goofy police officer and a super hot mob boss who is trying to get his outfit to go legit. There’s a secondary love story between a gun for hire and another police officer that’s also really cute. This one has a good looking cast, mostly decent acting, and a good storyline. However, the very final scene leaves you a bit unsatisfied and wanting to know what will happen in the future. Perhaps they will do a follow up season with this one at some point.
Season 3 – “Make Our Days Count” is both my favorite season and my least favorite season. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but get your tissues ready because you WILL cry. While Song Wei En and Huang Juan Zhi are the main couple in this series, my favorite couple is played by Zhang Han Yuan and Liu Wei Chen, and I’m assuming they were a lot of fans favorites as they appear as a couple in season 4 and are set to have their own upcoming season of “Make Our Days Count2”. I would also like to point out that our main couple makes an appearance in a cross-over project with Japan “Life-Love on the Line”.
Season 4 – “Close to You” is the latest season currently available. It deals with 3 best friends who work together as wedding planners. Li Cheng and Mu Ren are both “straight” men who fall in love. Again there is a step-brother relationship that actually gets the parents involved this time. Let me tell you, mom is a bit of an odd one. And of course as stated previously, our favorite couple from season 3 makes a really cute appearance in a few of the episodes.

The one to save all the others!

Came back here after finishing HIStory 5,and watched it again so my heart is mended( read my review there and you will understand). From all the seasons, this one was the closest to perfect. The plot, the actors, the chemistry...it had action, comedy and romance all in one. No couple with weird cringe backstory(I'm looking at you History 1,2 and 4). So yeah, when i get disappointed by one of the seasons, i come back to this one to forget and all is good again in the world. Both series from season 3 are up there, at the very top, but i'm more into this one because i have a weakness for a mature story so each with their own. All in all, 10 stars with no hesitation !

I actually love this one, the SUITS.

This is a mafia romance with a villain/cop pairing, no real seme/uke dynamic. It has a killer plot with a bit of a mystery element, good story and dialogue. Enemies to lovers (with good reason to mistrust each other) who fall madly in love anyway. It's higher heat, the kisses are great and they're both pretty much out bisexuals. The reason I dong give it a higher rating is this main couple's ending is amorphous with long term separation implied.

The side dishes are a friends to lovers HEA pairing who also have good chemistry, although slightly lower heat, but are great characters. The naive innocent wonderkin sweetie and the cheerful but deadly mercenary assassin who decides that this is going to be HIS man. So there. They are utterly adorable and use food as their love language, possibly one of my favorite couples.

Despite the mafia theme, there are actually very few triggers in the one. It's full consent and quite sweet for how much they throw in sexy. Lots of little domestic moments too. But that ending...

Truly an Under Appreciated Gem

It's no surprise that many BL fans adore the entire HIStory franchise, and this series is no exception, even though newer releases may have disappointed some since Covid. The storyline is exceptionally well-crafted, steering clear of formulaic tropes. It's a rich portrayal of a gay man and a BL character, exploring their journey towards their first gay relationship. Gone are the whimsical, irrational falling-in-love scenarios often found in Thai BLs. Instead, we witness a genuine and authentic narrative.

One aspect that sets this series apart is its avoidance of toxic themes commonly seen in other BLs. There are no exploitative SA or romanticized rape plot devices, despite the setting revolving around the police and mafia.

The acting is top-notch, something that may not be consistently seen in the newer installments of this franchise. Each character experiences significant development, adding depth and relatability to the story. From Shao Fai to Jack to Hong Ye and their respective partners Tang Yi, Li An, and Diao Yi, their connections and growth are compelling to watch.

A standout feature of this series is the excellent communication between characters, eliminating the need for annoying misunderstandings often found in lesser BL shows. This series truly caters to a more mature audience, foregoing the fluffy rainbows and magical unicorns that some BL fans may seek. It's a gem for those appreciating nuanced storytelling and well-crafted character arcs.

HIStory: 3 takes its time introducing us to its characters and storyline to provide a solid foundation for the series. All of the actors are believable, with natural chemistry amongst both friends and foe. Despite the poor police work throughout the series (they're really so conspicuous and unprofessional in everything they do, lol), the natural build-up in the series will make you invested in the storyline before any romance comes to the fold; a refreshing change from the typical old-school BL storyline that puts heavy emphasis on gratuitous skinship for viewership before attempting to make any sense of their plot.

Main Couple: Shao Fei and Tang Yi
I was initially a little cold toward Meng Shao Fei's character, but his quirkiness and funny emotive facial expressions quickly won me over. He's a bit brazen, bullish, and immature, especially for a police officer, but he has a clear heart and is always forthright in his intentions. I liked Tang Yi out the gate (his voice is *chefs kiss*) but his backstory and affinity for warm smiles when he allows his walls to come down, especially grew on me. I'm really impressed that his character is introduced as bisexual right off the bat. No, "I'm only gay for you" trope at all; he's seen openly flirting with a man at the bar and it's obvious he's not concerned with how it'll look. The enemy-to-lovers trope (which I happen to love) is used in this series, but I felt like it was executed with natural ease, and I'd perhaps credit the writer's pacing for that because they don't automatically fall in love when they first begin spending more time together. They get to know each other as layers are peeled back and their walls come down one by one. At first glance, they're physically a rather unconventional pairing. Tang Yi is tall, elegant, well dressed, and handsome; while, Shao Fei is rather unkempt, unconventionally handsome, and awkward in his posture and body language (I think it's mostly the clothing choices and the hairstyle because he's much more attractive IRL- which is a big kudos to the styling team to bring such a contrast to their physicality). Together, they have a nice synergy that exudes unexpected natural chemistry. Both of their acting is on point, and I was again especially impressed by Chris Wu as Tang Yi, specifically in the heavier emotional scenes that take place near the end of the series (no spoilers). I've seen big emotional breakdowns like that in BLs before, but that one felt visceral and raw. Like I was watching a private moment.

Secondary Couple: Jack & Li An
One is a sm0l and innocent little bean, and the other is coy, mischievous, and has a contagious smile. Their instant chemistry and initial get-togethers were fun to watch. As their relationship grew, I enjoyed watching their chemistry change from that superficial innocence to something more meaningful. As a person, I had conflicting feelings toward Jack. His character is much more morally gray than I'd initially anticipated and I was disappointed in some of the choices he made.

"What to do when a man confesses to another man." LOL. Protect this pure soul.

Third Couple: Zuo Hongye and Gu Daoyi
I'm not remotely interested in this relationship. Hongye is petulant, selfish, and scheming. I don't like her, and I never warmed up to her character. Gu Daoyi is flat and glum at all times. Too hesitant or cowardly to reveal his true feelings until way late in the game. Very uninteresting.

OST: Nice variety in genres that bends easily between each scene, whether it was an action scene or a melancholic moment of self-reflection. Impressed.

Overall: An outstanding BL with such a strong story, it grips you throughout even if you're going in purely for the BL aspect. The acting was strong with everyone, but my superstar is Chris Wu. His range, and his moments of visceral anger or raw and childlike agony, blew me away. I cried with him - literally couldn't help myself. He displays his grief in such a gut-wrenching, all-encompassing way. From his body language to the way his face contorts with its last thread of restraint. I want to see him in more projects. The last few episodes especially were masterfully done.

Any negative feedback?
Not really, except I wish they did a 2nd season with the same characters, or at least an epilogue episode to add closure (no spoilers).

LOVED IT!!!!!!!!

I'm always so excited to find BL's that venture into different plots/geners that we don't typically see with other BL series. This cop & gangster romance was my 2nd fav story from the HIStory series. Shao Fei (cop) is quirky and passionate, while Tang Yi (gang boss) is very stoic but can be sweet/vulnerable. They are polar opposites but somehow the dynamic works. They also have really great on screen chemistry. I can only hope that more BL writers and directors follow this stories lead and start to move away from the generic and formulaic plots and embrace things we haven't seen much of before.

Well constructed story and good execution

I think this is a great Taiwanese drama series. I’ve watched some Taiwanese BL and this is certainly one of the best because of the production and acting; also one of the best HIStory stories.
The characters were really interesting and funny, I think that’s a strong point as well as the acting, the main characters acting was really good. The chemistry between Tang Yi and Shao Fei was outstanding, they definitely did an amazing work portraying the characters and the love scenes.
I loved the secondary couple too, Jack and Zhao zi were so cute together.
The plot was really interesting and thrilling, I was invested into who was the actual murderer, and I liked that it wasn’t that predictable; at least for me, I didn’t have any idea! Lol
The music was also good, I would say average since it wasn’t very appealing to me, but there are definitely some series that have actual bad music, this was okay.
Overall, I enjoyed it a lot. The characters grew on me, the acting was on point, and the mysterious plot and production was what carried the whole story.
I don’t think I have negative opinions about it to be honest, not my favorite but it’s definitely one of the best well developed BL stories out there.

I recommend it if you’re looking for some action, enemies to lovers mystery BL, and also if you like mafia/ police themes!

THE ACTING IS TOP TIER

I unexpectedly really like this drama?? When i watch the first 3-4 episodes, I really can't stand this drama because the amount of the secondhand embarrassment i got from A-fei. He basically just run wherever tang-yi is and that's just embarrassing. I literally stopped watching it for solid 2 weeks. But then i give it another shot then boom? It's not that bad **after the development** (i don't see much development tho they basically just //go with it// and yeah)

1. CHEMISTRY
I loveeeeee their chemistry. Especially the second couple! I love both couple but the second couple just *chef's kiss*
They're all look so comfortable with each other! I watch one video on youtube where they play some type of game? The game is very intimate like feeding each other with mouth and they all nailed it, chris and jake even held hands the whole round game and that's proving their chemistry on/off drama are very good.

2. ACTING
In this one I'm gonna only highlighted on Chris wu's acting. All actors are good but i just wanna talk about chris.
There's one scene where //his father// hugs him and he cried. THAT'S IT. HIS TEARSSSS HE DOESN'T EVEN BLINK, HE DOESN'T EVEN CHANGE HIS EXPRESSION BUT THE TEARS JUST FELL, JUST LIKE THAT. I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYONE DOING IT LIKE HIM. i really liked it really really liked it.

3. PLOT
I like how they manage to balancing the storyline and the skinships . Each of it is just enough. They manage to tell us about the story but also at the same time give us some love story. I like it i really like the balance. But of course there's still so many missing pieces. The police who killed Tang guo dong and LiZhen, how they get into it and what's the police captain contribution in it. About jack who betrays tang-yi? And that idk that another police who scolding A-fei in front of many people but he ends up the one who meet Jack and receive the hard disk? And pretty sure that chen wen hao is died right? I don't know ??‍♀️

4. ENDING
Okay, about the ending. I'm 50:50 about it. In one side i like the way they don't forget about who they really are. Yes one is a mob, one is a police, and they have to abide the law. But in other side??? Like why just why? Why would they put tang-yi on jail???? I just- they can make it better but i guess this just fine then, really hope they gonna make the 2nd season because #freetangyi

5. KISSES
I'm shocked with how many kisses we got in this series. It's just a lot and yes the make out scene djshskshsj. I first thought that because this drama is enemy to lovers troop they are not gonna give us //many// kisses because yeah they wee //enemy// right? But i was wrong. The kisses are just ?? and the fact that each kiss just so natural? There's no pressure at all, i just loved it.
My favorite kiss is when shorty kissed jack when he said "i'm hungry" djhsjs that's just it!!!

I forget to talk about the straight couple here. They don't have much story- i mean they don't tell us much about them so yeah, at least they know how to kiss?

Well, that's it for now. Might editing this later? Or not idk. And yes, i highly recommend this series.

This is a very very unprofessional review. All are based on my understanding and opinions so if there any wrong words, i apologize.

I should not have dropped this drama!!!!

It took me 2 years to watch this and I regretted not watching this before. The story really catched me up and I like it, the only thing that I don't understand is the ending like Where did Tang-yi go? Jack and Zhao Li an is the best couple for me I need more of them. Over all is good I have nothing to say. I was gonna make rate 7 points for the acting but their acting got me in the middle of the episode so put it on 9. I still recommend this drama even though it's not typical bl series that we used to watch it was more matured but it's still good to watch to.

Story:
10/10
The reason I loved this drama so much was majorly because of the storyline! I didnt see the ending coming which is very rare these days in my opinion. The storyline has the two main leads who are enemies because one runs a mob and the other is a police officer, but is so much more than that. The "mob boss" is trying to legitimize his business while dealing with personal loss and childhood trauma. While the police officer is a cute rash person who still is a bad-ass in a fight and confident enough to go for what he wants.
Theres much more but I wont spoil.

Acting/cast:
8/10
As much as I enjoyed the drama there were a few scenes that I found hard to watch due to unrealistic acting. (Some kiss scenes ect) BUT when they got it write it was amazing! Fight scenes, the flirting between side characters, sad scenes, and the last kiss scene were all superb.

Music:
7/10
There was nothing wrong with the music but when I finished the drama I couldn't recall any songs that played so that's why its a 7.

Rewatch value:
9/10
I would rewatch this in a heart beat. I really enjoyed how they portrayed the lgbt+ characters in the drama. There was no evil female fighting to split them because she couldn't accept their sexuality. At one point in the drama the best friend of one main lead defends his friends choice in partner saying they deserve the other regardless of gender. There was much more that I appriciated in that aspect which is why I'd rewatch it again and again.

I thought this drama was really cute but I docked a few points cuz if I'm being honest, the cop's acting was kinda cringe to me and his hair was not good...like his bangs were cut halfway down his forehead and he always had this lock of hair that stuck out. I know that's a really small detail that really shouldn't matter much, but for me I had to sit through 20 episodes of his subpar hairdo. If I could give it a 9.3 I would but I can't so I won't. Other than that, the story was good. The supporting characters were so cute too and I kinda wish they had their own series cuz it was just too cute
