Exciting start, boring middle, proper ending

This might have been better as a shorter series. The first two episodes were so interesting that I initially chased this drama. The Silla-Gaya background and the 1500 year grudge really drew me in. However, as the drama progressed and the main villain was introduced, it just felt like a series of repetitive cat and mouse game, which ultimately made the middle so boring that I decided to just wait until all episodes are out before binge watching and fast forwarding. This had so much potential but ruined by lazy script writing. The main villain's reason for being was too weak for me. The powers of the ghosts and JunOh's fame were treated as plot devices and were inconsistent, it's there when needed but negligible when it's not. To be fair, I really liked the ending and how they incorporated the drama title into a scene. It was, for me, the proper ending for the main characters, with Doha's grudge finally being resolved. Overall, though it's not something I'll rave about, this is a good enough drama to pass the time.

Truly beautiful concept, not so great execution, and an amazing finale. Deserves a try!

INTRO:

Firstly, I have to say that I am not someone who really enjoys romance in general. Rom-coms, especially, are just not up there for me. I tend to enjoy thriller and action dramas/ movies more. Secondly, I am a little bit biased towards sentimental and emotional romances, if i had to pick out of romance as a genre. Thirdly, I have the attention span of a toddler, I lose interest extremely fast, especially if the story is slow paced. All that said, on to the review!

STORY:

I, personally, loved the whole premise of the story. The idea was very interesting and emotionally provocative. Love that transcends time and existence, there's quite a profound beauty to that. As beautiful as the concept sounds, I felt that it wasn't executed as well as it should have been.

To be honest, while I was watching the show as it was airing, I thought that episode 12 was the final episode, until I checked MyDramaList and realised that the drama was actually 14 episodes long. I felt like that was enough proof that the drama was dragged two episodes too much. Had they made the execution more concise, it would have been more memorable and more enjoyable.

Somewhere around the middle, the drama started dragging. There was a bit of repetition and too many flashbacks that gave the same feeling (and didn't necessarily add essence or emotion). I felt that there were missed opportunities for emotional and deep moments. The characters' growth and change wasn't seamless enough. Also, I did identify some loopholes in the plot.

Plus, I really wished that they kept the FL as strong as she was in the beginning. There should have been more occasions for the FL to show her strength, both physically and mentally. After all, she was a firefighter who had seen death and faced tough situations.

Even so, there was something about the drama that kept me wanting to come back and watch. I was made curious about the ending and about the fate of the leads. I've seen many people claim that the last few episodes were the most disappointing to them. But I beg to differ, for me, the last two episodes were my favourite from the whole drama. They were the most memorable and most emotionally provocative to me. Personally, I loved the ending and the depth behind it. The ending was a true testament to transcendental love. The last episode was the most well done in my opinion. You could clearly see how much the leads had improved in their acting, chemistry and roles. Although, I did feel that last scene of the finale was somewhat unnecessary. I would have preferred for it to not have been there and instead shown the characters in their old age so, that the audience could have really felt the time pass and the story come to an end.

ACTING:

I did feel that the leads (Pyo Ye-Jin and Kim Young-Dae) were quite awkward in their acting at the start. KYD in a historical context felt a bit odd to me, as if he wasn't very suited for it. PYJ was great but there were awkward moments but in her modern settings. The kiss scenes were just not giving, especially considering that the drama was supposed to be overflowing with emotion. There was only one decent kiss scene, every other one was lacking passion by heap. PYJ was absolutely gorgeous in her historical attire.

Their acting and assimilation into their roles peaked in the final episode. It felt like they finally got to be their characters. To me, their chemistry during the historical settings felt more natural and convincing.

P.s. I have to say that I am a simple person: I see KYD, I click. I see PYJ, I'm convinced.

OVERALL:

I really did like the drama. It's one I would recommend others give a try. But I can also see why it might not be someone's cup of tea too. At least for the sake of the finale, you should give it a try. As for me, the reason the drama got a such a high rating was simply because of its finale and concept.

Thank you for reading hehe <3

There is something interesting about Kim Young Dae...

I enjoyed the historical plot and the plot around the main characters and was always waiting to find out. Historical flashbacks were exciting. For those who like historical fated love that magically meets in the future, go for it. A little spoiler: The series depicted the life of the main character in the past, who did not belong to a high-level family by blood, and was trained by his "adoptive father" to do dirty work. And when it stopped being useful, they would have him killed just to get what they wanted. With his life on the edge, he was no longer afraid of anything ... because his death was his redemption from the life he had to live. He will make you feel sad. And finally, the woman whose family he had to kill, and she luckily survived, got into his hands. Over time, the relationship where she hated him, despised him and wanted to take revenge on him, and his outwardly neutral to indifferent attitude turned into understanding, pity, and painful love. The real-life (present time) could be without someone who came from the past to make a hell among the main characters. Especially, when it didn't occur to the main character for a long time that who could come like him... the main couple had something to deal with even without him. I would skip the additional happy ending after some years. That is beyond the real heroes. Kim Young Dae was great in this show. I saw him for the first time in When the Weather Is Fine, where he immediately caught my attention. Then I saw the Forbidden Marriage, where I thought that even historical ones fit him. And here in the series a total combo of both. like the historical love story and the main actors. I give a lower rating because of someone I won't reveal, who came from the past.

Not Kim Young Dae's best work

I'm a fan of the ML but while it seemed the story wanted to showcase that he could portray playful/silly and then serious and angsty--but you get way more moody angst from him that it just gets too tiring to watch, and FL killed it in Taxi Driver and even in Our Blooming Days in support roles but seems likes she's overacting in this lead role--and the makeup does not take advantage of her beauty.
Watch Forbidden Marriage to see ML at his best--and for a far happier story. This one just stretches out so much sadness, angst, and tragedy for all of the roles that the little we see of happiness is not enough to make this a balanced work.
The premise of the story is intriguing and the only reason why I watched it to the end.

Good Enough

Korean Drama '' Moon in the Day '' is a historical fantasy melodrama.

The drama starts off quite good, though, as it turns out, the past storyline proved to be way more interesting compared to the main story, which got more and more boring as it went on. At least, the ending was interesting and didn't follow the cheesy way out. Rather, it gave closure, without messing with the laws of nature, but having a nice enough ending for all of the characters, including the side ones.

The actors and actresses of the cast, moreover, did a great job with their characters and their performances were enjoyable, aiding to the overall enjoyment of the drama as a whole.

So, overall, five out of ten.

Not bad, but not that good as well.

This drama had immense potential and unfortunately it didn't utilize all or even most of it.
The story is fundamentally great and so is the acting, especially from Kim Young Dae. But in my opinion the directing and screenwriting are where this drama is lacking, had these two things been better, this could have easily been an unforgettable experience for the viewers. Instead, now it's just an average one.
I honestly wish the review's ratings had a 《Directing》category so we could rate that as well. Had that existed, my ending score for this drama would have been different. I honestly don't want to give a lower score to any of the other categories, as they were quite good. But the directing is just not doing it here for me. I'm a bit disappointed... Maybe it's because I had way too high expectations for this (I legitimately couldn'twait to watch this. I was super excited since I learnedit was being produced). It's not bad, I simply expected way more, like something with more mysterious or dark vibes, something to blow my away like Goblin did, also something with better special effects...
I ended up skipping a lot of scenes because of my boredom or frustration.
If anyone asked me about my thoughts on this, then I'd have to say: All in all not bad, but not that good as well.

I am not happy with the ending

End disappointed me. Starting was the story was good. Modern era connected with historical era. Story of the prince who worked according to his father who was a king . The father was always cruel with his son . He made him doing the cruel thing and because of that the prince image infront of the public was a cruel . Because of this the female protagonist hated him . She killed him . Here there is a suspence which I will not reveal. His soul was not liberate . In every reincarnation of her his soul was always around her. In one of her reincarnation he got the body of dead person and since at that time he started taking revenge from her but since at that time gradually many things started reveal infront of him .

Two things not satisfied me here were her reason of killing him ,second what was the story between father and son why he made his son cruel infront of his people.

Story end with the scene if she didn't kill him the story of theirs would be different and their ending would be different.

The series left me puzzled when the female lead chose to end the life of the male lead, a moment depicted around the third or fourth last episode. The motive behind her action remained unclear to me. The notion that they could never meet led her to this drastic decision. In my view, it seemed more reasonable for her to place trust in him, or if trust was unattainable, they could have faced their fate together, finding solace in each other's company until their last breath.

This wonderful drama suffers from poor writing and poor chemistry

I wanted to love this drama so much. I do love major parts of it. The historical part of this story is fantastic. The slow burn, the looks, the evil dad, it's beautifully done. Kim Dae Young is a standout in this drama. He has such range. I don't know whether it was his choice or the director's choice to talk so slowly when he's Do Ha, but that choice aside, I loved him in this drama and I hope he gets a chance for another lead.

Pyo Ye Jin is a fantastic actress, but her character is so poorly written. She's so inconsistency written and made stupid or weak as a plot device, and that really bothers me. But also, I've seen Kim Dae Young in Sh**ting Stars, so I know he can have great chemistry with his leads, and kiss well. This drama's slow burn was amazing from his end, but I didn't quite believe Ye Jin's modern character. Also, the kiss scenes gave me major ick.

Honestly, it's a brilliant story, but I blame the directors and writers and editors for mangling it. There was no need for it to be so incredibly complicated, or for the multiple jumps back and forth. I think this would have done well as an 8 episode drama, with a tighter script it might have been better.

But I just loved the actual story and plot hidden underneath it all, and if you can manage it (I did by fast forwarding where they were just rehashing the same thing over and over again), there's a really great drama somewhere underneath the garbage piled on by the directors.

It started good, but the plot did not hold out... It seems that latter episodes was done like 80's style. (the plot and the cuts). I have to agree that there seems to be no chemistry. At first I was enjoying it the plot just went mediocre. The male lead having the same "sullen" look for almost all the drama entirely just wasn't enjoyable to watch anymore. But I did finish it, for me it is watchable just one time.

A Melodrama that Missed

If you were to really look at the scope of this series, it feels like a melodramatic appeal from the ML perspective. The ML is tormented from beginning to end. Even the 'happy' moments are bittersweet. The OST was a bit nonexistent due to the dynamics of what the script was trying to convey. The leads didn't have great chemistry. However, they gave solid performances. The horror turn towards the end was expected due to the drag midway. Yet the end tried to do too much with too little. It was an assumptive 'extra' that wasn't needed. which made the drama fall short. This would have been better with an cleaner edit at 12episodes. Overall, this was okay.

Must watch!!!

So i am not a review writing person but this time i felt to write about the review of this drama. Basically i decided to watch it because i saw reels about it on Instagram and i thought the story was good and captivating.
Without any extra talk i will like to straightforwardly tell you that despite of the hate comment or negative comments you must watch this drama and trust me you will nko regret it but if you have high expectations from this drama just like some famous kdrama's of the year then this drama will be not to your liking. The story is about how the male lead is attached as a lost soul to the female lead for 1500 years and first he thinks he wants the revenge as she killed him in the past but thats not the case. For the female lead she is the reincarnated women of han ri ta as you will watch it you will get to know and the story is little bit dragged and i dont want to give all the spoilers so just lastly i would like to tell that the plot was good and about the chemistry between the leads it was ok as i think they are not that experienced actors and i love how the male leads love is just unconditional for the female lead despite her behaviour and about the ending as kim do ha's soul disappear the real han joon oh doesn't remember her but still she lives for him and her wish for being together inthe next life comes true as they show us the glimpse of their next life as an ordinary people and i think it's up to us how should we think about the ending and i personally think that they made sure that in the next life they will be definitely together and spend the rest of their lives without any obstacles. Overall i would rate this 8 out of 10 and i am happy that i watched this drama

Great Start, Confusing Progression

Moon in the Day started well and caught my attention right from the beginning. One of the best things about this show is the actors. They're talented and do a great job in their roles. Their acting made the characters come to life and added a lot to the show. In the beginning, the story was engaging and made me want to keep watching to see what happens next.

However, as the show went on, it started to get a bit confusing. There were too many flashbacks, which made it hard to follow the story sometimes. It felt like the same scenes were being shown over and over again. This repetition made the show less enjoyable as it progressed. Even though the actors were great, the way the story was told with all these flashbacks and repeat scenes made it harder to stay interested in what was going to happen.
