A BLOODED PALACE
The series primarily narrates infighting between Royal wives in the Namyeongbu (Inner Court). For some Reason you get to enjoy watching women vying for power and supremacy and another reason that I loved the series was because I was so caught up with the endless scheming of the female leads and the villains. There is so much Political intrigue and the Constumes were very splendid moreso the dialogue and while the drama tends to depict how strong the women are, for a while they have stolen the show from men who tend to dominate in a number of sageuks.
The Plot too is very original and even though sticking to historical accounts you don't feel the story too boring you are simply caught up in the endless drama and every character is loveable because for some reason the intensity of their ploys got me hooked and on edge.
The drama being 60 episodes isn't as boring and surely you might feel discouraged but I don't know why I am a fan of long series that is between 50 to 90 Episodes, moreso if you feel like tasting what a real poisonous harem is then this is a very good series to pick up courage and watch
Lastly the schemes lack monotony so you won't see them repeating themselves over and over again which makes a large number of them original you won't stop loving them.
I'd highly recommend this sageuk if you haven't yet tried it.

Queen Insoo was quite a long ride!
I personally enjoyed the series despite it's slow pacing drama. It tells a lot about human greed and the extremities of one's ambition. This drama can make you toss and turn, laugh, be annoyed, and be bored to the max, however, I guarantee that it was all worth while. A friendly advice, savor each screen time of every characters because you will surely miss them as they slowly disappear from the spotlight. You will grow with them and at some point die with them.Characters are well played by great actors and actresses but I have two favorite persons among them. First, I love the mature Great Queen Dowager Insoo particularly in the drama, she is brave, smart, and definitely strong. Second, I don't know but I also love the Great King Sejo with the same reasons I have with Great Queen Dowager Insoo. I extremely loved the father and daughter in law bond that these two has. It was just sad that these two people were misunderstood by many to the point of tormenting them even in their last moments. I kind of understand their intensions though sometimes not their ways around it LOL. For me, they have only one major flaw and that is, King Sejo's decision to kill young King Danjong and Queen Insoo's inability to kill the baby Yeonsangun, haunting them even with their last breath. Their decision about the matter gave way to thousands of people's sufferings and death.
Watching real historical dramas are great not until you realized that it's done, all was history and nothing can be done to change it. You know that no matter how much you wanted to fight for a happy ending, there is no point at all.
Overall, this series was able to provide a detailed power transition from King Mungjong to Yeonsangun. It depicts the events after King Sejong the Great passes his throne to King Mungjong and the aftermath of King Sejo's coup against his brother. If you are interested in Korea's Joseon Era, particularly their kings, then this series is a must watch.

A queen
The narration and its subsequent transitions were overdone and jarring. Regardless of the historical accuracy, everything was portrayed and delivered as poorly as possible to maximize the trashiness and spitefulness, guaranteeing to make you hate the palace power-struggle themed dramas just a little bit more. This was a very painful and redundant 60 episodes. There was a big massive disconnect of the characters' writing after the timeskip. The awful OST the drama didn't help enduring its journey. With the ridiculous overdramatization of the last 5-6 episodes, the drama reached its ultimate clown status. I pity those who had to endure this drama serializing weekly. Was this review helpful to you?
