Great fantasy drama
I had great expectations after having watched Soul land. Douluo continent so far is living up to the expectations.Storyline and casting are great .story is not exactly the same and there are some new twists that builds up interest to watch.
Having watched 3D CG graphics of Soul land, Douluo continent graphics feels little underwhelmed . Could have been better.
With so many fantasy dramas coming, the key to success is a good clear storyline , keeping up a fair reasoning , logic and mixing with the right levels of emotion.
I really hope the whole Soul land is remade and not stop with Season 1. Looking forward to it.

First, I did not read the novel or watch the donghua version of this drama, but I'm still anticipating the story of the whole. From the first episode, you could clearly see that it's eye-catching and want to know more about the story, so still looking forward to it.
Second, the characters. I really love the character of Tang San played by Xiao Zhan. Xiao Zhan as an actor really brought the character out and interpreted it, the way it was real. From it's kindness, sense of justice, and helpful to all, the character of Tang San is well-developed and the role-model type. Especially, when he is on the journey of discovering his powers and the truth behind her mom. Meanwhile, I found Xiao Wu played by Wu Xianyi, as playful, strong, and positive. I heard this is Wu Xuanyi's first drama and I liked how she portrayed Xiao Wu. The character of Xiao Wu (for me) is likable. I found her cute, funny, and a ray of sunshine. I also likesld the bond between Xiao Wu and Tang San. They really understood each other. So far, they're really good. To add, the other characters of the drama played by different actors and actresses did very well. No stiffness or awkardness in them, just pure natural.
Third, the songs used. Overall perfect. The opening and ending brings out the fantasy type vibe of the whole. Looking forward to more songs used to this drama.
Fourth, the cinematography and special effects. For all to know, Douluo Continent is the first fantasy drama I've watched in all Chinese Dramas. I don't have expectations, but they really took my breath away with all the magic effects. They showed the effects and cinematography in the right place at the right time. Loved it!
Fifth, I recommend you to watch this drama. If you like fantasy, this is a must-watch. You will learn many lessons and experience the characters development and hardwork all the way. Every episode is must to look forward, so if you want to watch and still doubting, watch now! Leave your doubts and enjoy the whole drama. I guarantee you will feel the magic od Douluo Continent.

Great fantasy drama!
I'm watching from Brazil! This drama is great!
Catched me in the first episode! The special effects are very impressive and the plot is complete. Some fun, action, romance, drama and a lot of fantasy together and well dosed. I like the actor Xiao Zhan and your naturaly way to give life to this character and i watched because of him. But in the end off the all, i liked the cast because is very good and charismatic. I think this drama was well directed too.
I'll watch until the end and will rewatch because i liked him so much!

Xiao zhan is here
First I want to say I'm coming to this drama without prior knowledge of the donhua or novel. So I am coming to this drama with a fresh pair of eyes and no preconceived ideas what the story should be like.I actually very much enjoyed the drama. I was a little worried at first because there was so much complaints from those who have read the source material complaining it wasn't true to the source and I found the first episode was all over the place. I admit almost dropped it after ep1, but by ep 5/6 I was thoroughly enjoying it. So my advice to give it a few eps before making a judgement.
In terms of the story line, it is very much about Tang San's journey to "level up" and the friendships he makes on the way. I found the pacing was good, the acting decent, and good enough character development that I truly cared about each of the main characters. The dynamic of the shrek seven and their head masters had some serious comedic moments that had me laughing out loud. And for all my worries about the ending knowing there was a second season I have to say I was satisfied with how it ended. I found it was a rather natural conclusion (like the end of a chapter) as opposed to something that felt rushed or like the writers didn't sloppily put together, nothing too jarring.
My only real complaint is I didn't really like the audio. Oftentimes there was a lot of unnecessary background noise, or suddenly the actors voices /volume would change. For those Xiao Zhan fans expecting him to sound like his character in the untamed, get ready for a shock! His voice is much deeper here, and it took a little getting used to, but he did do his own dubbing in this drama so that's commendable. And his voice's tone and timber gets way more natural by the midway point (again I blame this more on the sound director).
Overall I found this to be a very enjoyable drama, I hope it gets the greenlight for that season two and they can invite the original actors back. I am looking forward to seeing more of TS and his journey.

Xiao Zhan Always Gives 100%
I am so grateful to be able to watch Xiao Zhans work here in the US. The story so far is very captivating and the actors are spot on. While I am only on episode 5, I am anticipating every episode to come. When Xiao Zhan acts in a role, he always delivers the best of that character and I never feel like he is acting, but that I am watching a real life character. I have truly never witnessed a more dedicated actor who never fails to make me feel every emotion he puts out on the screen. His connection with all actors is amazing and always feels so natural. He is a gem to the entertainment industry. Such a pleasure to watch. So far everyone in the show seems very talented and I cannot wait to watch the entire show. This show gives family, love, kindness, friendship, drama, comedy, sadness, hope and I am just honored that I am able to watch here in the US.Was this review helpful to you?
What A Load of C***
Firstly, I didn't start watching this just because of Xiao Zhan. He's nice to look at, and not a bad actor, but he's not one of my favourite actors either. I don't think he's really had enough challenging acting roles for me to judge his acting skills yet. He was good at playing a sociopath in "The Untamed", but I'd like to see what else he can do in a good production, not like his roles in, "Oh, My Emperor" or "The Wolf", which any actor could have played.Anyway, I wanted to watch this after seeing the trailer. Wow, did the editor ever do a good job of putting together that trailer, because it is so much better than the actual drama.
The first episode or two were purely setup for the story, but even once the character reaches his destination of the academy, the story somehow still doesn't start!!
And then, the worst crime of this drama is revealed, in the form of a bubbly Chinese bunny-toddler girl named "Wu", who has to be the most annoying character ever in all of Chinese drama history! Seriously, could any character of either gender possibly be more annoying than this one?!! I think not!! And that is really saying something for a Chinese drama, when so many of the female characters have the maturity of an 4 year old, but are way too dumb to even stay alive for one whole day on this planet if they were real people.
Wu proceeded to forcefully insert herself into every scene as soon as we were introduced to her. She never shut up, and she never f***** off. She made a drama that was borderline watchable, though without a plot or any interesting characters, completely and utterly unbearable. OMG, how can anyone watch this drama with the world's most annoying bunny-toddler character constantly and aggressiveness forcing herself literally into the other charcters' faces.
To summerize:
Plot: nonexistent, and what there is, is incredibly predictable.
Characters: The worst character ever created, and a bunch of other boring characters with no personalities.
CGI wasn't the worst I've seen, so.... yay....
Watch this if you are feeling nauseous and need to enduce yourself to vomit.

Dissapointed, not as good as the untamed.
I really like the male lead, he is fun to watch, but the story feels boring and generic. The female lead feels like a miscast, she is supposed to be funny, but she isn't.
You don't really feel any chemistry between her and the male lead.
She is supposed to play this ditzy girl, who is also highly intelligent and strong,
which feels kinda weird.
I think young teenagers might like this, since it is about young adults having superpowers,
but I would not recommend this to an older audience.

About tang san's future
I've been waiting for this drama to air for almost 2yrs already, now that its air i feel so happy not for me but for XZ afterall he'd been through last year he deserved more blessings, about the drama its too early cz its on ep2 but to be honest its diff. from the anime but still love it i dont know maybe bcz its live action drama or this is the way the writer made the plot but i'm sure the author is present too..so its not only the writer who made the decission also the author the producer and the whole production too. Lets wait for the more ep. to come love XZ will support him no matter what❤️💪Was this review helpful to you?
I tried to finish this drama but I just couldn't.
I watched Douluo Continent due to Xiao Zhan, I love him on The Untamed.I think he's not too bad in this drama but the reason I dropped this is because of the female lead, she is just too annoying for me to watch. I really tried to finish it but up to episode 3 I just couldn't take it anymore. The female lead acting/behaviour annoys the heck out of me. She was trying to be cute but it was way too much and became just an annoyance for me to keep on watching this drama.
I hope Xiao Zhan will have more projects with better female leads. Mediocre or even bad acting female lead is better than an annoying female lead.

interesting drama
it's been a while since I have watch like this genre, last time was back in 2016 coz I'm so into thai drama these days. first of all I'm so satisfied with the cgi, the main lead voice and their acting. I always drop the drama when it's boring but this one was a mixed emotions I cried , smile and laugh in jst two ep. and i love how adorable Tang San is, how he adores his father so much . it's very interesting for me. I have watch the anime version but ofc they have their own different charisma that is why they are called anime and live action. Was this review helpful to you?
It contains of epic graphics abd emotional ride
Excited ti see Xiao Zhan on screen again. The drama is beyond my expectation. The costumes, settings and the visuals are eyes pleasing. It make it easier to be completely drown in the drama. The emotional changes are relied perfectly by the characters. So excited for the next episodes. The story line is smooth and characters are on spot. So lucky to run into this group of actors and actresses. It is a story that revolves on the value of family, self trust, comradeship, truth and friendship. Every growth of the characters is impactful make me anticipates for more. The CG does look obvious but still eyes pleasing. It become a charm instead of a harm. It gives the drama more beautiful presentation. Was this review helpful to you?
Very cringe
First off I am a huge fan of the anime series. When I found out that they made a live-action of this series I was ecstatic! But, when I watched the first episode and saw the actors, actresses, CGI effects and music...I was embarrassed. I love the main actor who plays Tang San. But, this role is not for him. This series looks a tad low budget. I hope that in the future they update this series with better actors and effects. Oh and goodness a lot of the costumes are horrible!! I do not know if I should laugh or cry due to my love for this series. This is my opinion only, but I believe my pick of actors and actress for the main couples are the best picks. You can look them up if you want. Tang San:Yang Yang, Xiao Wu:Yang Zi, Dai Mubai:Huang Xiaoming, Zhu Zhuqing:AngelBaby, Oscar:Deng Lun, Ning RongRong:Mao Xiaotong. If only I can post photos of each side by side, you guys would probably agree with me. The features of their faces to the way how they act in movies or series matches the anime characters. Ok, thats all.Was this review helpful to you?
