Finally Happy Ending for my OTP

The Bloom of Ruyi Pavilion healed my aching heart two years after watching Legend of YunXi....the production staff redeemed the sadness they brought along in LOYX giving a drama full of all kinds of LOVE a person needs to have in his lifetime....the amazing chemistry of Zhang Zhe Han and Ju Jing Yi droves this drama to perfection....Even the second lead couple are so awesome that i wish they would have their own
drama in the future....over all i would truly recommend this drama to everyone who wants to feel the power of LOVE.....will watched this drama again and again especially those funny and romantic scenes of ZZH and JJY...Here’s me wishing and hoping that the production staff will make another romantic drama for my favorite OTP...i don’t mind even if its another historical or a modern day drama....as long as i could see them again together.

Awesome

Wow this series was awesome.

I loved the ML probably the reason i watched after seeing him in word of honour ?. The story was well written and played out in line with no unnecessary drama or dialogue, the Second ML was an interesting story line although it felt he didn't put in much effort to discover the truth the of his mother before assuming it was Duke Su.

The romance between the general and xuer was sweet and cute and I loved the way she always stood by him and he by her, the scene i loved the most was the mistake at the the other Fu wedding ?.

The ending did seem a bit rush but I'm glad for the happy ending, and although there were a few misunderstanding between the duke and fu rong they always found away back to each other.

Definitely worth another watch just to see ZZH who is super ? in this series.

This was just so boring.

Watched Until ep33

I already wanted to dnf this by ep 15 but because I watched YouTube videos of this in contemporary times, I was like okay it's worth the wait. Holy fuck, this show is basically historical and I.... I don't know if I like historical or not ? the only historical drama I even remember watching is Nokdu ans DNFING hwarang. Like I just don't do historical, I can barely tolerate korean historical so it's hilarious to think I could handle Chinese historical dramas. Anyways, I practically skipped all the scenes except the romance between the main character and scenes of Duke Su with his subordinates. Like I just couldn't give two shits about the cliche plot but seeing Duke Su convinced me for 33 damn episodes to freaking continue. But right now... I just, I just don't wanna see where the plot is going to move forward. Like Ugk, I can't be bothered to know more about this story. I'll probably just read the spoilers for my curiosity to be satisfied but I'm just so done with this show

Plus I wanted more romance! I wanted for affection! I felt like we barely fed romance in this show and that didn't even start until half of of episodes. Very dissapointing but also Understandable considering the modesty of historical times but also kinda annoying BECAUSE CAN YOU JUST KISS ALREADY? This is why I don't do historical dramas ? romance is way too modest.

The main cast

I love both the male and female cast. They are my favourites and when they are together it works magic and loved their romance with superior quality. Zhang zhe han and ju Jing yi will both be my idol forever ?❤️Lots of love
And yeah! Please make part 3 for the same. The part II is more lovable and enjoyable to watch and their chemistry is nailing ( jealous chemistry) and very true to say that they both are amazing with a grace in their acting level. I never fed up of watching the episodes in repitition and wanting to watch again and again.

Some Parts Are Unlogical

I think it’s either at episode 16 or 17, when Rong Er was caught for killing her shifu in front of Ruyi pavilion. Wu Bai Qi and Prince Su arrived at the pavilion by horse riding. Then when WBQ wanted to send back Xuan Er home, instead of riding the horse, they walked! Hey, didn’t u come by horse, why need to walk home?

The CGIs, some scenes look funny. Then, the zoom in zoom out scenes make me ROFL.

ML’s acting somehow a bit stiff, but I guess he has improved a lot since the drama was recorded few years ago.

I’m still watching the drama, so far the plots are fine to me. Probably will continue till the end.

not sure yet, will update. Has potential but...

just watched 8 eps, not bad, but not the best. Can be boring at time but I’ll continue for now. Sometimes I wasn’t paying attention and I’m a bit lost with the characters ahah I’m confused, so many consorts, queen, etc mention.

I just know the second couple is going to be my favorite thing about this drama. Little marquis is so handsome and I’m surprised how all the leads are just attractive in this drama. I love the ML too. But… for me there is too many scenes between FL and SML, I want more moments between FL and ML. I know there is still 32 eps left, but I want more romance. I actually skip moments between FL and SML or just SML scenes. Couldn’t care less about SML and he’s obviously going to be a bad guy. He’s pretty, that the only thing he has for me. I hate love triangle, but it’s not really annoying for now, but it will be for later on. I have a feeling that FL will become annoying and do stupid things later on because of SML, she will for sure trust him blindly?‍♀️?‍♀️these type of FL are just annoying and stupid, don’t trust or believe her man but yet she does with the SL. She met him once when they were kids and she will just trust him… makes no sense. FL characters are often infuriating in some dramas I try to watch. I dropped a few dramas because of the FL character. Wondering what really happened to his mother… there will be more to it, but I was like are you really mad at him and blaming him (ML) for your mother death because he maybe knocked out a candle when he was a child ?

Now finished ep 16. Finally, more scenes between the leads in the last eps. The princess is annoying as hell, FL’s friend who is being a bitch after a misunderstanding because of her brother… the second couple is cute and flirtatious, love their chemistry. Not much romance between the leads yet. Love their dynamic though. FL’s younger brother is adorable, needed to be mention ahah And interesting, the emperor doesn’t seems like trash and not a bad ruler and with some intelligence. Well well SML…. What is wrong with this guy. Obsessed with FL in progress (not much for now, but it will come) and his revenge that doesn’t seem to make sense to me. He wants to know what happened to his mother, but he’s doing bad things, killing people, betrayal, manipulation…. Yeah that’s for sure the way to go. just annoying and stupid. And his brother seems pretty kind to him. This character is not well written in my opinion. Can’t wait for him to die?‍♀️And I remember seeing a clip, isn't she alive after all ?

After reading some comments and reviews, I’m starting to regret starting this because of how it will turn out. Started because of clips of the second couple and the happy ending, but feel like it will become annoying and draggy soon.

ugh disappointing

first do not compare to their previous drama and second do not watch right after lol

excuse me but wasn't this written by the same author as their previous drama they started in together?
so in a span of two years did the writer just get dumb or something cause i can't with this drama anymore...
Obviously this drama should not be compared to their previous project but this drama is just way more lower quality in writing then before it's so annoying.
First the Fu Rong is such a weak character...like we know the actress can play a strong witty smart character so why is she stuck playing this type of cliche female character??? it doesn't really make sense tbh
Also I love the second lead but like why did we get more FLxSML scenes than the FLxML??? Also why does he have to be the villain? lol they had no other characters for the villain so he was selected???
Not to hate but the actress who plays the princess is also super annoying and not cute at all lol they need to fix her make up...

The only pros are the second lead tbh; they're so cute! and they definitely look better together in this series than separately in the previous project.

11/28/23 Update - Dropped the series two times and came back to watch the last episode, which was very dramatic. Overall Legend of YunXi is way better!!!

Loved the Reunion of the Cast but the story was lacking.

I am a fan of most of the cast for their other work and I enjoyed watching the main couple when they got to be together but I had a very hard time completing this drama. The start of it was really nice. Fu Rong's family were the best of the clans, with Prince Su's mom being a close second. The second couple was okay, their relationship was sweet and much less angsty or challenged which gave us the audience a chance to enjoy their relationship. But I didn't come to the series to watch them.

Like many I wanted a redemption for ML where they could enjoy being married, going through challenges together. Which some level of trust and love. Instead the plot was perpetually pitting them against each other. Divorce seemed to always be on the table, and Fu Rong was often getting arrested. It felt like no one seemed to want this couple together. There are a few exceptions, like the second couple and Prince's mom, but it was a tenuous at best. It was very discouraging and tiresome to watch.

I grew to hate the king/emperor and his forever dissing of Fu Rong. She was setup so many times but he only cared about calling her a trouble maker and not good enough for his son.

Court intrigue is expected, but plots were very repetitive. Here was the formula:
- Setup Fu Rong for a crime
- Arrest her
- Prince Su tries to save her
- Prince An creates or adds a misunderstanding about Prince Su
- Princess Xihe hits on Prince Su
- Fu Rong and Prince Su separate
- Divorce/separating is on the table
- Prince Su/Fu Rong solve the case
- They are happy for about an episode or two
- Repeat

This happens three or four times, maybe not in the same order, but pretty close.

Perhaps it was wrong to expect so much of this drama because I loved "The Legend of Yun Xi" so much but I was disappointed all of the same. I almost didn't bother finishing this drama but stuck with it only so I could watch the modern era episodes.

I know my review is pretty scathing, but maybe if you watching this without expectations, you might like it more. There are definitely parts of this drama that are very enjoyable, just not enough.

Things I did like:
Prince Su - he was a lot more sweet and devoted than I expected.
Fight scenes - when there were ones were pretty cool
Fu family - nice people
Hair accessory business - was kinda cool to see
Fu Rong and Prince Su - when they worked together
Modern era - was fun to watch

Note I didn't give a failing grade to this drama out of blind loyalty and the fact that in the end I did complete it.

SUCH GOOD CHEMISTRY

I did not watch LOYX when I first started on this show, so I went in blindly without knowing any of the cast. I did watch cuts, so I know well enough to recognise parallel scenes and references to LOYX in Ruyi. However, one can enjoy Ruyi even without watching LOYX.

From what I understand, it is LOOSELY adapted from the novel, so I know some fans are very disappointed (but from my limited knowledge of C-dramas, I believe that's quite typical of adaptations anyway).

Story
To be fair, the show was far from perfect. There were some plotholes created by the deleted scenes (especially the dream sequences), and doubtful backstories and motivations for some of the villains. Still, I enjoyed everything else about the show.

Side characters that I absolutely love are Consort Shu, Guan Ge, Xu Jia, Ge Chuan and Lan Xiang.

I love to see characters develop through the storyline, and it was great, especially to see Fu Rong and Wu Bai Qi mature throughout the show.

I binged through the last 12 episodes, so it felt like a real emotional roller coaster for me, but it also helped to ease the angst a little. It helps that their angst usually doesn't go dragging beyond 2 episodes.

I felt the ending was a little too rushed, and things weren't explained too well, but I'm just so relieved things turned out great for the main characters. I wished Fu Rong's father wasn't sacrificed for the story; the family deserved a happy ending. :( I felt terrible for Prince Huai, and I wished Qi Zhu had a better closure with Fu Rong.

One point I thought was kind of weird was that Fu Rong kept having doubts of Xu Jin throughout the show and she easily believed Xu Ping. Yet, with one word from Yuan, she immediately doubted Xu Ping.

OST
Absolutely love!! Some songs gave me the LOYX vibes, but I love it. I still wish ZZH & JJY did a duet; it would have made it perfect.

Chemistry
SO GOOD. Well, the kissing scenes could have been better, but the sweetness and other actions well made up for it anyway.

Even the behind the scenes were great, but I'm hoping they will release more. Not as flirty as in LOYX bts imo, but we can still tell how well they work with each other. I'm hoping they get to work together again!

The second cp was absolutely adorable, and I felt that they actually had a better development in their transition from "rivals", to flirting to an actual couple than the main cp.

Production
I think this is quite typical of C-dramas, not too sure why but I caught bad transitions between scenes - e.g. where Xu Jin had 3 layers on, and three seconds later, when the camera pans back at him, he had 1 layer off; or when his hand closed over hers, and then the next scene it wasn't, but they zoomed in and showed the closing over action again.

The make-up was a bit off, especially for JJY at times, but I absolutely love her costumes. She looks really good in cream and red. I cannot stop talking about the main couple's visuals in the show!!

Acting
I love how JJY has evolved incredibly since LOYX. Everyone else did great, but for me, ZZH's acting really shone - all those heartbreaking scenes (well I kind of laughed a little at the first crying confession scene because he was kind of cute there), especially the rescue coffin scene (/shivers) and those subtle cues and facial expressions (even when the camera wasn't focused on him).

Rewatch Value
Yes, absolutely, though I might fast forward some scenes of the annoying characters.

Also, will we still get the modern time special episodes???

When I found out that the team behind Legend of Yun Xi were back in another drama, I had to check it out. And to find out that Ju Jing Yi and Zhang Zhe Han are paired out again not to mention that some of the casts from the first drama are also in this drama made me so excited that I had to watch and I could honestly say that this is also a gem.

STORY:
The story seems like an alternate dimension or possibly another life after the events of Legend of Yun Xi. There was no confirmation for this but this is what I feel. It follows Fu Rong (Ju Jing Yi) as someone who slightly can predict her future and her future tells her to not cross paths with Xu Jin (Zhang Zhe Han) or else she will suffer a terrible fate. But as they are the leads of the story they definitely cross paths....multiple times and sometimes in a comical way. They eventually get married like the first drama, but here she was just a consort and not a duchess. The plot seemed similar yet different at the same time although if I would compare the two, this story is a bit lighter than the first. Since the characters here were also from the first drama, I could see the mother in law in LoYX as the female lead's mother here, the female antagonist in LoYX is now her sister whom she is very close with, the male lead's brother in LoYX is now a subordinate of the duke in this story....those kind of connections. It felt good to see familiar faces. The ending of this drama is far more better than the first one that it got me thinking: is this a fan service for the viewers who didn't like the ending of LoYX? Plus, the most important part is that I enjoyed the bonus 4 episodes with some of the cast and the leads in modern times.

ACTING/CAST:
I have nothing to say about the chemistry of the leads because it has been proven and tested during LoYX. As a fan of their chemistry, I appreciate the fact that the same team directed them. They know best how they work and I can see that they are more at ease in this drama. The drama is lighter and Zhang Zhe Han's character is a bit more expressive in this drama than the first one which I liked very much. I have nothing to say but I REALLY LIKE THEM ACTING TOGETHER. Also, Zhang Zhe Han in historical costumes is still so prettyyyyyy. I want them to have another drama either in the modern times or a crime thriller perhaps? Though they are well-suited in historical dramas. I just want them to act as a pair in another drama again.

MUSIC:
Yes, the music. I love this drama's OST. I also added the songs in my playlist. What surprised me though is that Ju Jing Yi can sing. She sang some of the memorable songs in this drama and I liked it so much.

REWATCH VALUE:
Yes. Need I say more? Just, yes.

Really exited with this drama when it came out. Of course like most of the fans here, exited because of Ju Jing Yi and Zhang Zhe Han meet again together in the drama. But after watching & read some of the review here, I have to agreed with them. This drama have many plot holes that make our eyebrow rise. But is that make this drama bad....? I don't think so. For me this drama still good enough to watch, apart from the cast.

Plot holes that makes me wonder:
* They already have interesting plot by using dream. But why they are not develop it more. It just like piece in here & there.
* Xu Ping / Prince An (XP) motive very bad. Yeah he just make conclusion about who killed his mom without even make confirmation or at least try to know the truth. And the way he protect Fu Rong (FR) is really questionable. He wants to protect her but in the same time he put FR in the 'lion den' (Xu Jin/Prince Su (XJ) house) by letting them get married. He want to make FR free by letting her get buried with XJ and than rescued her...??? What the hell... Where is his logic...?? All over the place....!!!
* The reason to choose Cui Wan [Princess of Xihe] to be political bride never been explained.
* The stupid way of how FR actually come to life or heal after get poisoned in ep 40.
* Of course the biggest question of all: Why the need for modern time...? They have happy ending in ancient time, why make the modern time...? Is it preview for the second season or what...? Who have answer please please please write in the comment, i really want to know...

What i like:
* The plot where the prince try to killed each other is not about just because struggle for the Crown Prince, but other factor. Usually the writer just develop about the struggle for the crown prince. But here, because of greed & revenge. Very interesting to see even though Prince Cheng and Consort Duan already in the palace with all the money in the world, they still very greed.
* Of course the chemistry between Ju Jing Yi and Zhang Zhe Han. They have more chemistry here than in legend of Yun Xi. Love how Zhang Zhe Han in here smile more than in legend of Yun Xi.
* How the second lead couple interact with each other. I also think Fu Xuan (FX) & Wu Bai Qi (WBQ) more adorable than FR & XJ. How WBQ like to tease FX but also how he protect her. But also frustrated why he doesn't propose her, even after they relationship became better.

Overall: Yeah the fans of Ju Jing Yi and Zhang Zhe Han should watch this, especially if you the fans of legend of Yun Xi, it like a little bit closure for they story. Apart from all the plot holes, this drama still good a drama to watch. But for me this drama is not for re-watch, one time is enough for me.
