Nothing profound, it's a classic formula for CDrama RomComs

I really enjoyed watching this one. Nothing profound but entertaining to say the least. Classic formula of a Chinese traditional/period RomCom. Good looking Main Leads.

Started of as an adventure of a mischievous FL and her warrior ML. Solving patterns and mysteries with their friends.

Then it turned a little to a political drama. Battle for power within the royals, then between nations. Some arranged marriages between major and minor characters. All this leading our main characters to find each other and fall in love.

After a while, the classic formula with CDrama became visible. ML and FL had a traumatic connection in the past. Almost everyone wanted the FL, almost everyone wanted the ML. Almost all except the villain.. All villains here are so obsessed either with their so called love or for power. After all the chaos when we think everything would be ok, it would seems like that the one responsible for the others death is a family of your love. Creating bunch of drama and conflicts for our main couple. Got a bit tiresome at around episode 30, but I decided to push through because the story's almost finished anyway.

They did battle it out in the end with the help of their family and friends, to save their nation and their love. So, it's still a happy ending.

Each to there own!

Ok this story didn't quite hit the mark! It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. Now the potential was there to have a really good story line but ended upgrade flat.

The basis of this drama is all about love triangles and roller coasters. Up to the first 10 or 12 episodes it was getting really interesting then too much water was added to a story to pad it out, and then they rush the ending! I would of liked more story to the ending instead of it being rushed.

I can't complain about the actors they did their job really well, and the costumes and the sets they were beautiful.

Overall this drama is worth giving a go.

Personal opinion

Personally i think the actor and actress suitable for the roles. But the storyline has a lot of illogical part. If you tell me this is more towards historical and fantasy storyline i understand all the illogical part.

There is a lot of very stupid part where by no matter what the GMR do she is able to stay in the house until JBN almost got rape and she cut her finger then she got chase out. LQ already knows what he did to JBN and to the family yet still let him stay.

I feel the best episode is the last 2 episode where they answer all the question. From the start is all about how JBN do all the stuff so that she don't get marry with the emperor and those he dont like until LQ save him and she agree to married her. After marriage is all about how GMR trying to bully or do stupid things to get LQ to like her and get JBN out of the house. Which i think is totally unnecessary. The main story is to find out who is the one that kill LQ's mum but in the whole of the 40 episode there is nothing about until last few episode where JBN and LQ separated then is about this whole incident. Then no one went to investigate about it before concluding is JBN's dad kill her only at 2nd last episode then is being play out. Which DD knows it she never tell her family only before going help QA to kill QT then remember to tell JBN but not send letter to his father.

That ZX is just a guy who is so obsess with JBN as long as he can get JBN he is willing to do anything. Even JBN reject him 100 times he still think there is a chance. Even until last episode! Which is stupid!

I cannot say is a very very bad drama but ask worth watching a not i dont think so. Unless you are the actor and actress fan. The actor and actress got good chemistry but the storyline ruin this drama.

The MAGNIFICIENT~ Story

Yes, I'm writing a review in the middle of it airing. I'm going to be speaking from a perspective of a constant binge-watcher of way better shows; be it kdramas, jdramas, or cdramas.

The acting is okay. I wouldn't say it is the best or anything even close to that; however, I have to give props to the annoying characters. They are so good at portraying the characters that it makes me want to punch them. Cursing at my screen has become the normal every time this show airs. I end up pausing the show so I can throw my hands up and imagine myself punching them right in their noses. Now, back to the review. From around episode 1 to 15/16, the show was *chef's kiss*. Perfect to waste my time on. However, HOWEVER!!!, the episodes take a turn for worse. The annoying sh**s take up almost all of the screen time now. It's gotten to the point where it really seems like they just want to stretch the show out to 40 eps. Like WTF!! DO THEY NOT KNOW OF "TIME SKIPS!" The only good thing in this drama is the head over heels male lead. Overall, I give this rating a 5 star. That means it's good enough to watch till the end. Never going to recommend this to anyone. and it's going to stay in the darkest deepest corner of my completed dramas list.

It didn't have an exciting storyline to continue

Okay first of all i should mention the cast and costumes were good but unfortunately the output wasn't satisfying enough
it could have better and stronger storyline not just pure romance
like could make viewers excited to know what happens after but nuhh~
I generally expected more from this drama even tho the title made me wanna see what would it be..
Ummm i guess didn't worth 40 episodes and wish the next projects will go better

Anyway i think you'll enjoy if you love spoiled love stories~

just normal drama not special

I only lasted until episode 24. I think the story is enough. LQ and JBN ended up sleeping together and JBN got pregnant. QA loves DD and has led a secret division against QT to be the real heir to the throne. And I saw the jump straight to the end of the 40th episode, yes, it's more or less the same condition. LQ and JBN are still together and the child has grown. DD married QA according to her love story. both muan and yongqing countries are at peace.

overall
acting is very good.
Story is very bad.
just normal drama not special
This can be special if you fans of ju jingyi or joseph zeng together

How to destroy a drama by making a supporting character the main character

Out of all JJY's dramas, this one has the weakest storyline. This is not a story of revenge, as the original drama intended, but a story of letting jealousy rule the day, and the 3 side (behaving as main) characters not taking accountability for their own actions and their part in their own fate- always blaming others. It started off quite promising (strong and independent FL, good chemistry between leads, funny and light-hearted moments, good action sequences, problem solving in a maze setting, intrigue, political power games, family power games) and the build-up was quite good up to episode 12. Then it just came crashing down and went downhill with the FL and ML being supporting characters for the rest of the drama. In fact, the synopsis of helping the new Emperor only happened in 3 out of the 40 episodes depicted ie episodes 35, 39 and 40. The rest was monopolised by a role model for all green-tea women out there, and her two scheming partners. For all 3, as you guessed it, their actions were driven by the green-eyed monster. I dont know why they didnt just label the green-tea woman Gao Miao Rong as the MC, as she clearly was written as such in this adaptation. Her story had the full arc- background, beginning, middle, and ending, which in fact no other characters in this drama was given. There is something quite wrong when the screenwriters chose to focus on a supporting character as their leading storyline. I got bored and couldnt care less about the events as they unfolded. The only reason why I kept watching to the end was to catch the little interactions between JJY and Joseph ZSX. Their chemistry was natural and believable. Hope they have future collaborations together. I also liked Baoning's grandmother. These 3, the good action sequences, and the political game/problem solving were the saving grace of the drama for me. Also, JJY has improved greatly in her acting performance in a costume drama. I stopped noticing it's JJY and just saw her character Baoning from episode 4 onwards, so that is saying something. It's a shame it's wasted on such a lackluster storyline. Badly done screenwriters, director and production team!!! Shame on you!!!

So MIAO RONG GETS TO GO SCOT FREE AFTER ALL THE SHIT SHE PUT EVERYONE THROUGH AFTER CAUSING SO MUCH DAMAGE AND GETS AN HEA BUT ZHAO XIAO GETS PUNISHED?

See, it wouldn't have been a problem for me if they let her off because they wanted to show that evil people get away with things or something, but dude everyone else got punished but her!

The woman made The Princess's life hell, and was THE MAIN REASON A FIVE YEAR OLD BOY DIED OF FOOD POISONING, she was almost going to get Li Qian's sister get married to an evil person with several concubines, And even Li Qian was like no biggie, let's just put someone else in prison because she's a GIRL. I don't even know what level of stupidity this is. And why of all the people, Li Qian let her off! So much of what she did also directly ended up hurting him too!

And seriously Qing Tan was the only villain who was actually entertaining.

So yes, her character and Zhao Xiao's characters PETTINESS was the most frustrating thing for me. Like they wouldn't fucking DIE

And in general the writing is not that great, which is the main issue here. If they didn't have the budget to show the serious stuff in shows like Novoland and Long Ballad, they should have just made this a sweet romance and just focused on the couples which I really liked them all.

The problem for me at least, was the really petty squabbles being the main focus and poor Joseph didn't even get enough screen time toward the second half when literally him and Jing Yi were the reason I kept watching till the end.

And okay now that the rant is over lol I'll tell why I'm still rating it 7 and not lower.

So let's face it, Joseph Zeng gets a lot of criticism over his acting and I agree, before Ultimate Note, I understand the criticism, but seriously I saw him in Ultimate Note and the improvement in his acting made me fall in love with his version of Wu Xie and now after Zhu YiLong's Wu Xie his is my favorite version! That's how good he was especially after a few episodes.

But in this drama, HONEST TO GOD, the kind of CONFIDENCE and PASSION with which he was acting, made me so happy! Our baby's grown up now :') so yes, I'm literally just going to mention that. But his passion and dedication was wasted on the telenovela like storylines and general weakness of the writing. And my favorite moments were definitely the couples moments, but also when he gets tortured and hurt, ffs he broke my heart in those scenes much like he did in Ultimate.

So, that's all I have to say about this one. I just think you should watch it, if you like the actors.

Rebirth for You

it's a good drama, people be hating on it LMAO. The ending is really good. TBH probably top 10 in 2021 dramas. (personally, I don't rewatch dramas unless they are old). all in all, it's a good drama. Ju Jingyi is pretty and a good singer/actress.

Definitely a good storyline

You will not get pissed of the the common line of holding back their feelings, but the ending is not so smooth and a bit rushed the murder cases and misunderstanding between the couple is so annoying because it doesn't give a full and clear explanation to the characters when it was solved, Plus it's so unfair the ML got hurt a lot by zhao xiao and he always gets away from it, his punishment is not satisfying you will get pissed. Han Tongxi either, my expectation is she will be dethroned or get kicked out in the palace yet she got imprisoned in a royal house what a lucky sinner. Tho only miaorong gets punished the way she deserves

Slice of life story with great chemistry...but kinda horrible villain plots

I know a lot of people hate the plot because it seems pointless or theme-less but I actually quite like the slice of life vibes it gives off. I like how it sort of traces the relationship between Li Qian and Baoning--from its formation up to the domesticity of married life. And the actors were AMAZING. Even when I wanted to pull my hair out because of the "villains", the chemistry between JJY and JZ kept me going.

I also quite liked the production quality. The sets, wardrobe, and even background music were all amazing. Aside from a few weird CG scenes (like the ending scene overlooking the city), everything looked beautiful. I usually hate watching historical shows since they typically look cheap and fake but I wasn't bothered by that this time.

However, one thing I hated about this show were the villain plots. They just never seem to end. Especially for Gao Miaorong, Zhao Xiao, and the Empress, every time their plot lines seem to be ending, they disappear for a few episodes then suddenly have a brand new evil plan in mind. I would have loved if the show focused more on Yongqing as the villain and the other "evil" characters as minor villains that last for 5 episodes at most. Kudos to the actors though, they were incredible at acting evil. I really wanted to slap them :)

Lastly, I really wished that they didn't cut down the number of episodes. The ending seemed rushed. It would have been a lot better if there was more time to really see the mending of Li Qian and Baoning's relationship and if the battle with Yongqing was more climactic.

Overall, there are indeed points for improvement for this show. But if you're looking for a show with great main leads and pretty outfits, try this one out! You'll have to bear with the SML and SFL but honestly, just fast forward through their scenes and they won't be as annoying. Just enjoy the chemistry between the main couple! <3

Bet you'll skip through the episodes.

Started off quite interesting: FL, ML and SFL are skilled and clever enough to get through a game, where they became friends and momentarily goodbye only to cross paths in the Palace where they each learned of their true identifies; ML and FL gradually fell in love with each other - and then everything went south from here.

First of all, why is everyone obsessed with marrying the Princess?!!!
Second, whats with the unnecessary death!? I don't understanding why certain characters had to die and what led to such events.
Third - Details are annoying! In what messed up world, do the ML and SML get to work wherever the FL is!? Timeliness are messed up - they don't make sense at all. I was just watching the Queen Dowager take a baby away and in the next episodes he's like 3-5 years old, and in the next one he's like 7-10 years old already!? What happened to the characters in all that period?!
Fourth - no character progression.
Fifth - lousy story centered around ugly, shallow scheming to break the main couple apart. It's like incoherently stacking plot twist after plot twist to finish all 40 episodes. Mind you, there's nothing here that you surely haven't seen before.

The only enjoyable part was that scene where the extremely annoying Ms. Zhang, found out that the person she married on a whim had 10 concubines! For that, and that reason alone, I'm giving this 3 stars.
