Nothing much to say about the plot since it was simple from the start. Though it was pretty interesting having an insomniac pianist for a neighbor and finding out that he can only sleep when he is sleeping with you. Oops, not the dirty kind but the just you accompanying him to sleep. There was a psychological explanation as to why this happens but it surprisingly entertained me. I hated his team though, I mean give him some slack right? Like he was doing bad things when he wasn't really. This story kind of is like the beginnings of a summer fling and sort of a coming of age drama too. It was funny though seeing the female lead's parents, especially the mother being a die-hard fan of the male lead. All in all, it was a breeze to watch, it was simple, and something I would re-watch when I have nothing to do.

My thoughts about this show
Overall this drama is well acted. ML and FL both played their roles very well. Chen Yi Xin as her role Song Mi Duo is well acted as a very cute and cheerful girl and Wang Zi Xin as his role Xi Song as a very cold but kind hearted person. The osts are really nice, a very simpledrama series built to perfect. I absolutely cannot ask more from this show. A 24 episodes show is just right and I definitely want a second season pls! I loved every moment of the show with no breakups! Pls bring this drama for a second season!

A light and cute drama!
This was perfect for me, because I didn't have to think much. It was cute, simple and funny. Female lead's parents were very funny and a very good match for each other, but I didn't understand why they were so big fans of the male lead. I liked how female lead chased him although she seemed naive. She seemed very brave to me! Appearance wise I loved her cute face and curly hair, her clothes and her room too! She seemed to be treasured. I didn't understand why male lead was living without technology and what I don't understand the most is why female lead's parents called him "their son". If he was their son, he shouldn't be dating their daughter! I liked their sleeping dates, their light romance and the not so classic ending of this story! Was this review helpful to you?
Absolutely amazing
THIS DRAMA IS JUST AMAZING. I've watched this drama up till now several times. This dramas OST, heart-melting moments and comedy was everything. If you're looking for a drama where the love starts quite early on and there's no people objecting the marriage, this drama is just for you. The female lead was extremely cute but didn't act like a naive girl, but instead the opposite. The male lead was brilliant aswell and played his role as a introverted pianoist amazingly. I can't stop listening to the OST. I honetly fell bad for people who haven't watched this drama.... SO IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED IT, WATCH IT NOW!!!The female leads friends were just too funny and I was actually shipping Lu Yiyou and the other girl friend.... but let's just say she has a boyfriend :D
At times I really wanted to murder Liang Ge and the house maid but then again, they did what they had to do to protect Xi Song ...
And we can't forget about Song Mi Do's parents. They were legit the most loveable and cutest ever. They encourarged their relationship and to be honest I think they already had Song Mi Do's love life sorted out . Xi Song's father ( although only appears for ten minutes in the full drama) was also amaing and I love how he also encouraged their relationship.

Sweet and cute love story
Not an extraordinary one but very cute and sweet drama. Especially the FL she is soo cute and perfect for the character, and her parents too. I think it could have extended for at least another two episodes. I really enjoyed each and every second in this drama. If you don’t expect anything like character growth or influence of ML and FL, and want to enjoy for just time pass you can try this drama. Especially the ending I like that very much and it’s very cute.In the first or second episode I felt that the story is little out of line but it came back in a pleasant way.

Romcom as sweet and light as cotton candy
I’m leaving this review here in the hopes of convincing more people to watch this light and fluffy romcom, My Neighbor Can’t sleep (available full ENG sub in dramacool). I first noticed this drama when I saw a clip in YT and when I saw how cute MiDo and Xi Song’s interaction were, I couldn’t help but get hooked and binged watch this series in 10hrs at 1.5x play speed. The 24 ep count can be a bit dounting but once you start the show, it just breezes by really fast without giving you too much of a heartache and no noble idiot moments. Here’s my breakdown of the elements of the drama:
Plot - The plot summary definitely caught my attention with the pseudo cohabitation and mysterious “only the FL” can cure the ML’s problem premise. It gave me vague Nodame Cantabile/It started with a kiss vibes which I really liked. You get the typical drama cliches but the problems/obstacles that the OTP encounter are introduced and solved pretty quickly. The “villains” of the story are not even proper villains but are more like pesky unaccepting relations at the beginning but don’t really pose any serious threat. The story basically concentrates on the OTP’s love journey and never really delves into their respective passions (ex. Piano, writting, etc). The story is so uncomplicated that you finish the series feeling like you you went on a nice train trip.
Characters - The characters are as simple and as uncomplicated as the plot with MiDo being your typical 19yo girl who’s still searching for her dreams and Xi Song as the Mysterious Piano Prodigy. Both characters are similar to the Chiaki/Nodame or Zhishu/Xiangqin but Mi Do is not as die hard, stupid, or eccentric as these 2 other female leads. Xi Song is on the same prodigy level as Chiaki and Zhishu but not as hot. Lol. I also love that the OTP are smart enough and trust each other that they don’t let misunderstandings or other people affect their opinion and love for each other.
The Supporting characters are also as adorable and cute as the OTP starting from Mido’s cool and quirky parents, handsome childhood bestfriend Li You, cool big sis friend Mimi, and even the sometimes pesky Aunt Gu, Liang Ge, and Su Lin. The characters are not written with extreme traits (ex. Super stoic, with obsessed unrequited love, etc) so they don’t irritate you as much as in other dramas. I’m also very surprised that the 2nd leads are pretty reasonable to the point that they can accept defeat without being psychotic and suicidal.
Acting - Chen Yixin is definitely the show stealer with her quirky and adorable portayal of MiDo. I don’t find her outfits and hair distracting and on the contrary I found that her styling actually added to her unique charm. She also gave a very refreshing take on a sweet, a bit naive, and imaginative teenager/college student. Wang XiZin as Xi Song also complemented Chen YiXin’s Mido by giving us his own take on the prodigy with a human heart. Chen Yixin and Wang Xizin also have chemistry that you can see in the short romantic scenes to the kissing scenes too. The supporting actors also did a great job in their roles and I want to give a shout out to Mido’s mom who played the part of a fan club pres to a T and to the handsome/cute Damon Xue as Li You.
Cinematography/Directing/Editing - I appreciate the format of having “mini flashbacks” at the start of each episode that shows us the what happens “behind” certain scenes in the previous episodes and gives us several Awwww moments. I like the transition between scenes like you’re just reading a manga without the need to know the exact dates of each scene. OST is ok but the use of Music in the scenes is not as believable as in Nodame Cantabile where the actors actually play the piano. The locations are also ok with special mention to the Mido’s “goals” room that Li You “furnished” for her.
Lastly, I recommend watching MNCS after watching several depressing, very long Chinese dramas to let off some steam and get good vibes. Don’t expect too much and have an open mind. Remember this is like cotton candy, sweet, easy to digest but not that nutritious.
