Tears of Joy

Cast was superb. Especially the role of Little Big Brother. He made me cry whenever he cried. Among all characters I rooted for him the most and was crying tears of joy when he finally found his happiness. I didn’t enjoy the romance so much but the bromance was truly touching. So satisfied with the ending of the drama…..

Invest Lovingly in One's Relationships with Others to Get Loving Returns

What I Like:
- The father, Li Hai Chao, wins best father of dramas award. He is so giving of himself and everything that he has. He tries very earnestly to parent his daughter and to parent the other two boys. He remains in character the whole time and he makes me laugh and cry. He has really showcased his excellent acting chops in this drama. I am bowled over by his impressive performance from start to finish.
- The very close and loving relationship among the three kids is something which makes me envious. Isn't it nice to have someone rush to you with deep concern whenever you need help? Isn't it nice to have someone to depend on and to get warmth from when faced with hardships and frustrations?
- The idea of acceptance. Li Jian Jian and her father simply accepts the two boys. They do not abandon them in challenging times. Rather, they rally around in such times. How nice!
- Ling Xiao is handsome and so tall. To me, his romantic relationship with Li Jian Jian is not forced at all. I find it believable. He seems like a very good kisser.
- The explanations about different characters' motivations and actions are, to me, welcome. I like knowing the backstory and why a person behaves the way he or she does. The explanations help to tie everything together and to provide proper resolution.
- A happy enough ending where things are tied up pretty nicely. Explanations are given, conflicts are resolved, misunderstandings are cleared, people are forgiven, people learn to live for themselves and not to be manipulated and subservient. Most importantly, people move on and GO AHEAD with what they want to do, what they want to achieve, who they want to be with... they GO AHEAD with life itself.

What I Don't Like:
- Ling Xiao's mother wins bitch of drama-land award. She remains hateful from start to end. She is unreasonable, manipulative, selfish, warped in her thinking, has victim-mentality and refuses to seek proper help. She tortures Ling Xiao from start to end. I hate that she puts words into other people's mouths instead of being forthright with her own feelings and thoughts.
- The line: "It's for your own good". First, how do you know what's good for me? Second, if it is good for me, why am I so unhappy? I think this line is hateful as it shows that there is poor / lack of communication. If the different people/ parties communicated well with one another, many bad situations can be avoided. Of course, people have to accept that everyone's different and that there are different strokes for different folks.
- Hateful characters like Tang Can's mother, Zhou Miao, Xiao Cheng Zi, Chen Ting's mother, Chen Ting's brother -- hate them so much. Self-absorbed people with a ridiculous sense of self-entitlement.

I guess what this drama informs us at the end of the drama is that one needs to GO AHEAD with life as best as one can. For instance, Li Hai Chao lost his wife and unborn son but he did not turn out like Chen Ting. One should try to get rid of one's demons or at least to appease them so that these demons won't rear their ugly heads all the time and disrupt one's life and that of others'. Mental health is as important as emotional health and physical health. Talk things out like what He Mei did towards the end of the drama. Invest in one's relationships with great TLC and one will reap the sweet rewards. Kindness begets kindness. Love begets love.

My recommendation: Please watch! It is a very good drama with excellent actors and actresses. The plot is pretty riveting too. I'll say - GO HEAD WITH "GO AHEAD"!

Beautiful

It's not everyday you find dramas like this , so pleasant and happy going. By happy going I don't mean you won't cry because what good a drama is if it does not make you laugh on your stomach , shout at top of your voice , blush like a Tomato and cry your heart out , but I can definitely say it will be worth all of it at the end. A beautiful , awesome, well directed and acted ,intriguing drama. Full ratings from my side.

P. S. It does have an happy ending , for all those like me who crave good and satisfying end , this is a definite watch.
Take care!

Song WeiLong can act! I disagree with everyone who says otherwise.

I've read countless of reviews saying SWL wasn't as good as TSY and ZXC in the series, and trust me, I thought the same too. (Since I'm a ZXC fan)
At first. Not anymore.
Keep in mind, SWL has not been trained, how he acts is solely based on his experiences (the other lead casts have been to drama schools).
SWL is just 21 years old!
SWL had to play a depressed, introverted guy. His character had to be silent and subtle, not loud and cheerful like the other main casts.
Please stop bashing baby WeiLong. Check out his other dramas and movies, and you'll realise it.
I did too.
Check out:
- Find Yourself (the chemistry in this is so hot, it's unbelievable)
- Untouchable Lovers
- Long for you
- Beautiful Reborn Flower (pass this, story is crappy not his acting)
- Love the way you are ( movie )
- Dream breakers

TL:DR - Song WeiLong can act, and he's super talented.

An extraordinary&wise father who has been successfull educating 3 children to be a very good person.

I finished this drama last night and today just had the opportunity to fill in my little review for this drama .. after finishing it I really think that the most instrumental and important role in this drama is actually Father Li, why? because without him, three children with incomplete parents (in this case there are those who have lost their mothers, some have been abandoned by their mothers, some have been abandoned by their fathers and mothers) would not be individuals who have such good personalities and traits in society. . for that I really uphold and respect the character he is very good in this drama.

Li Hai Chao, played by actor Tu Song Yan, has described the criteria of a very extraordinary and wise father, although since childhood LijianJian had lost her mother, but she grew up without losing her family's affection, her father had put himself as a father and mother in raising her, Every teaching and education that he gives to his daughter makes her grow into a very realistic and mature person in seeing every problem or situation in this world. when another family (LingXiao family) who had just lost their daughter constantly quarreled in front of their child and and her mother continued to blaspheme her son LingXiao for the death of his sister, instilled a thought full of pressure in her family especially LingXiao, on the other hand Li Hai Chao taught his daughter how to deal with her mother's departure. By saying that her mother had gone to a distant place to become an angel and that one day they would meet, on the other hand ChenTing (Lingxiao's mother) had instead instilled pressure over her daughter Yunyun's death on her own son. This is the difference in teaching and upbringing of two very different families and we can see how good the teaching of lihaichao to his daughter is by always giving a positive view .. and I feel very fortunate, ChenTing let LingXiao go to LiJianJian and live beside his father and father Li so that he can grow up to be a good son, I can't imagine how bad LingXiao will be if he continues. live under the pressure of his mother into adulthood.

LiHaiChao also always teaches his daughters and allows his daughters to invite and stretch out her hands to approach LingXiao even though the LingXiao family looks bad in the eyes of the neighbors (and I feel that only a small part or maybe only people with the character of Li's father who otherwise will not ignore or even stay away from the LingXiao family)

Likewise with HeZiQiu, he was not recognized by his father as a child and then abandoned by his mother (although this was not what his mother wanted because things happened unexpectedly that caused her mother to not fulfill her promise to come back to pick him up). Thanks to LiHaiChao's kindness and perhaps for his love for HeMei as well (HiZiQiu's mother), he was adopted and raised with nothing short and lived a happy life. He was even treated like his own son and the affection LiHaiChao gave him no less than his own daughter. And after He grew up, Father Li knew that HeZiQiu always had deep feelings for him by always keeping a mirror that his mother left behind. Li's father also always helped to reunite them with never the slightest thought that after he raised him HeZiJiu would return to his mother's side, or that his mother would take him away from his side, he would raise HZQ in vain. Instead, he asked HeMei and taught her how to love HZQ and not let their past misunderstandings continue to be ingrained in HZQ's mind so that HZQ has the thought that why his parents don't want him, why is it always he who is dumped...

Li's father really is a very extraordinary father character, he is not only a very good father but also a person who has a really very good heart, I am very happy the author wrote that he can get married and have a happy ending with HeMei...

This drama really shows the real side of life ... a realistic story that happens in human life ..like the story of the TangCan and YueLiang families we often encounter in real life. some family problems that often occur in real life, unhealthy marriages that lead to divorce to parents who are dictatorial and curb the lives of their children ... sometimes it is not a mistake that parents do on purpose, they assume they are doing it for their child good but they never know and don't ask if that is what their children want.

as HeZiQiu said to his biological father, he said "my father (Li's Father) never demanded or to have this should that, but you did anything to me just as a transaction ..."here we can see a family that is simple (not very rich) but has teaching, good education by parents, it will produce a very harmonious family and have children who are devoted, talented and have a positive and realistic perspective on life in society. ...

This drama is arranged perfectly, every story arrangement with the songs inserted in this drama is very harmonious, I also really like the soundtrack in this drama, it seems that the song carries a meaning that fits every scene in this drama ... I also like the soundtrack that was delivered by Seven Tan herself in this drama entitled "Like a Breeze".

This drama is very successful besides being supported by a very good storyline as well as being played by very good actors and actresses, each of the actors in this drama each portrays their character perfectly in this drama, thus making this drama very beautiful and lively .

overall I really like this drama and give full marks to it. I also thank the writers, directors, cast and crew who have made me able to watch such a good drama ... thanks ...

Yes. yes. yes. I love this trope and the big brother dynamic. It feels like Li Jianjian has always grown up with that support system, so they truly understand what she needs. I also loved Song Wei Long's acting in this. The found family is what needs to be highlighted about this drama though. Everyone's bond with each other in that 5-person household is so strong. They all support each other through anything and no matter what challenges or obstacles arise, they will always find their way back to one another.

I have never been this impressed before.

A very wholesome and realistic slice of life, hands down this is the BEST family drama in cdrama history. The reason this drama reeled me in is the fact that it is incredibly practical and tackles real-life situations that we do not usually ponder about. Go Ahead made me reflected on myself and questioned the dynamic of family and kinship. I have laughed, cried, straight out bawled and cooed while watching the show. The plot is well written, it may be a little abrupt after they graduated from high school but they brought it back on track. It's like you can understand why each character has their own difficulties ya know?? No sudden prince charming to save the day but realistic human solutions. The romance part is also insanely cute so don't worry for yall romance suckers like me hehe. Not a single bit of regrets spending 40 eps with the cast!

I really have to give props to the cast who brought each character to life, especially zhang xincheng who played ziqiu, he could convey his sorrow and pain with just his expressions. He portrayed this character so perfectly to the point that I can cry with just one line of his. Flawless, amazing acting.

This drama is really worth your time, you learn so many life lessons from it. I am a sucker for romance but I am so happy this drama developed many areas that made each element so much more meaningful. It revolves around family, kinship, friendship, romance, communication, forgiveness and understanding. Truly a work of art!

An actual Drama which actually deserve 10/10 Ratings!

Chinese drama has been making typical plot to their genre for ages.At least i think like that. Suppose if you are looking for Romance there are 8/10 which has nearly same plot. that's why i hardly follow any chinese drama.

But But But.........Go Ahead is different. Not for it's Genre, It is Genre itself. This is the first time i have watched something different, something spectacular. Its having a quality that thrust itself into attention. While watching it you will be very nostalgic u'll cry,u'll laugh u'll miss your parents.

Every actors did their part fantastically. Not a single moment is boring. this is the first chinese drama i wanted more of it despite having 40 episode. The dynamic between their relationship is something really praiseworthy. Definitely a Historic drama it is!!!

Just trust me and Go for it 💥

roller coaster of emotions but a must watch!!!!

so i have been dropping a lot of chinese dramas lately, they have just been recycling stories and don't get me wrong, with decent actors and good production it could still stick but must have been disappointing. so i decided to start this drama because of the good reviews and it started ok towards the 4th episode i felt maybe i would have to drop this too but from episode 6 chile i was hooked and finished this drama in one sitting. this is a new storyline that teaches family doesn't just mean related by blood.

*pros*
1. The cute relationships are just pure bliss to watch, with the siblings, i wished i had elder brothers lol. Then there was the DADmance lol so cute. then the girlfriend/roommates very relatable lol.
2. I don't think Li Hai Chao got enough credit but he was too good to be true.... loving these kids unconditionally like his own without holding grudges or expecting anything in return.
3. The feels were real because the actors are daebak! i cried a lot and i laughed a lot too (Li jian jian can be a full blown clown without even knowing lol) kudos to all of the actors
4. The side stories were not mediocre, you know how chinese dramas have side characters and completely ignore them or maybe write some dumb story line for them... this was different. Everyone's story was loud enough for you to remember the characters and feel their joys and pains
5. The kisses yoo!!!! Song Wei Long has got to be my fav korean actor right now.... wheeew!
6. The ending was very satisfying, we thank the drama lords
7. The music omg.... i really love the intro song and i let it play out most times. (i usually skip for chinese dramas because they are so long)

*cons/rant*
1.Chen Ting
2.Chen Ting
3.Chen Ting
4.Chen Ting; Never have i ever encountered a selfish, infact wicked mother like her in any dramas.... omg i want to pull her hair, then she smiles like she is okay but she is really just looking for the next best way to frustrate her poor soon with her entitled a**. What's even worse is she never really got medical help for her mental state! her daughter would have made this list as well but she was just a poor victim in all of this.

Where or where are 41-46!!!

Oh Man, this drama would have been a TOTAL 10 in my book as it is an amazing series....BUT...
My only complaint is we in the online audience only got up to Episode 40, so, at least for me, the story felt truly incomplete!!!
This whole drama was so beautifully paced, the development of each character was so well done that you are totally vested in each of them. Then in the final episode (40) we are rushed through a single wedding of two semi-supporting characters, one which, in my opinion, was not the anticipated one and then left out in the cold on the rest of the storylines!

I really do not understand why we don't have access to the last 6 episodes (I've looked and cannot find them...if anyone knows where to find them PLEASE reply!!!). I feel like this beautiful drama got stopped mid sentence. Where are the conclusions of Ling Xiao and Li Jian Jian's story....and what about He Zi Qiu or Qi Ming Yue or Tang Can and Qin Mei Ying? I suppose we can all make guesses on a few of the stories but besides being a really unsatisfying exercise and because each had a well developed storyline that ended abruptly...it just broke my heart.

I really do love this drama,...just wish I could get ahold of the 6 missing episodes to really finish this drama perfectly.

A Family Chosen, A Love Learned

Go Ahead is one of those dramas that isn’t built on a single great mystery or a monumental romance, but on the quiet miracle of three young people choosing to become a family when life denied them one. It watches vulnerability with patience, lets wounds breathe before attempting to heal them, and reminds the viewer that to grow sometimes means learning how to return with a steadier heart.

Ling Xiao, He Ziqiu and Li Jianjian grow up under the same roof without sharing blood, yet bound by the urgent need for a home. Their two adult caretakers—one driven by necessity, the other by guilt—sustain a space where affection is improvised, mended, and eventually made durable. This family is born from lack but strengthened by tenderness: simple dinners, inevitable quarrels, shared silences, and a domestic warmth that Go Ahead films with an almost therapeutic sensibility.

As time passes, each character heads in a different direction. Ling Xiao carries the shadow of a fragile mother and a guilt that drives him outward. Ziqiu searches the world for the belonging he was denied at home. Jianjian—the freest, most luminous—learns that even joy bears a cost when you fear losing what you love. In this second act the drama grows with them: more introspective, more attuned to trauma, and more conscious of how youth is sometimes interrupted by burdens no adolescent should shoulder.

When romance finally arrives, it does so delicately. The bond between Ling Xiao and Jianjian is not an abrupt twist but a natural blossoming of intimacy that always simmered beneath the surface. The series avoids morbid curiosity and instead treats their relationship with ethical clarity: they did not grow as blood siblings but as children of the same refuge. Love appears as recognition—affections that ripen quietly until they find their final shape. Ziqiu contributes to this dynamic with the sincerity of someone who loves without possession, embodying a vulnerable, respectful, and deeply humane masculinity.

What is most admirable about Go Ahead is how it treats pain. It neither romanticizes nor trivializes suffering. It presents pain as a legacy that burdens, yet also as the starting point for new life. Characters pursue therapy, name their limits, and reconcile with the past through the work of daily life. The performances are as restrained as they are honest; many of the series’ most memorable moments are contained in looks that strive to say what words cannot.

The mothers—both present and absent—add necessary counterpoints: emotional fragility, misunderstood hardness, and an inability to love steadily. None are depicted as monsters or martyrs, but as broken women acting from their own fractures. This complexity gives the drama a maturity uncommon in many family stories.

In the end, Go Ahead shines not for plot mechanics but for its humanity. It reminds us that family is not always given by fate; sometimes it is built by choice, with patience, imperfections, and the stubbornness to keep caring even when it hurts. After its episodes conclude, what remains is gratitude: for the parents who chose to care, for the children who learned to forgive, and for a story that teaches us the simple truth that blood may bind, but chosen affection—cultivated every day—is what truly sustains.

More than a melodrama

This is more than a drama. It reflects so many aspects of reality that are not usually covered in one drama. Each character are wonderfully developed, which allows you to eventually love that character regardless of the shortcomings of that character because well, this drama taught you that no human are perfect. It potrayed a heartwarming story of how strong a bond can be and how a 'family' are not something that only requires blood relations . I would really recommend you to watch this! Cried a couple of times, because it is just that realistic!
