Absolutely Amazing

I loved this Drama! I will watch anything Yang Zi stars in. She is incredible and never fails to deliver an amazing performance. I love her, She killed it in Lost you forever! She’s funny, charming, sweet and Bold! She always invokes so much emotion in me. i loved her role here, she starts off impersonating a young man in a village just trying to live an honest and easy life. Trouble always finds and she was meant for so much more! I devoured this Drama in 2 and a half days! I loved is so hard! How can you not love it! There are 4 male leads and ofc I loved the RED FLAG the hardest! He’s my Roman Empire! Xiang Liu is played by Tan JianCi, I’ve never seen him before but i fell so hard! He’s mean and a pain in the a22! But you know what he’s always there for her and their relationship was everything! Gah! I need that season 2 immediately! Our first male lead is her long lost cousin/brother CangXuan, i had mixed feelings about him from the start! He’s gorgeous and made something of himself in his ambition to get the crown. I believe deep down he has such a deep love for XiaoYao, but he keeps it hidden to get to the top and protect her. I love that through it all he backs her, and her decisions. I really didn’t care for ShiQi/Jing. To be honest, he got on my nerves from the first time he let let our girl down. I should’ve know he was gonna be full of issues from then on. He really disappointed me and it killed me even more how much XiaoYao held on to him. CangXuan should’ve handled that from the beginning. I honestly don’t really count FengLong. lol he gives major golden retriever energy and he’s adorable but just didn’t rank high on my list, I would take him over Tushuan though. I loved the episodes of FengLong and XiaoYao bounding, when XinYue said “you turned your crush into a buddy” i died! They had such great fun together. now as for my Love, Xiang Liu. He keep me on the edge of my seat! He was so temperamental and he gave me whiplash. But you could always see his sincerity in his devotion. I think the only one who never saw was XiaoYao. He really keeps everything close to the heart and has major issues sharing. he’s a little bit psycho but i think he tried so hard for XiaoYao. The ending left you in such a good place. You want more and know there is so much to come, and things are finally happening. I’ll just be here fantasizing over XiangLiu and thinking of these characters and what’s to come!

Matured and best of 2023

This drama is the best in 2023, it went straight to the point without unnecessary parts. Music was great, acting great, costume perfect, cinematography perfect, story line was great, overall was good , the only downcast was it’s short, it should have been longer and I would not regret paying to watch it. This drama gave me a reassurance that Chinese drama can improve if they want to, I find no single fault and Yang zi, she played her perfect perfectly, I am not usually a fan of hers because I have watching her previous drama and even thou her acting was great, the story line wasn’t so I didn’t like her lmao but here she nailed it… thank you…. I can’t wait for s2.

Great story superb acting!

If I were to read the synopsis, I would assume this to be a very political drama revolving around palace settings but it is not at all! (thank god, because I'm not really into palace politics).Yes there are political power struggles and romance but there are also identity, self-belonging, family, duties, and responsibilities. I absolutely love this drama and the whole cast!
I only started watching this because of YangZi but ended up being captivated by Xiao Liu first and then Xiao Yao (our FL). Xiao Yao is such a breath of fresh air in c-drama land. She has been abandoned by her loved ones and has been through the roughest part of life since young therefore she is very realistic. She is weak physically but mentally strong. (When I was watching, I keep having this strong urge to protect XY but not because she is weak but because she's been through so much that you just don't want her to suffer anymore). YangZi really brought Xiao Yao to life. As for the 3 MLs, I really wasn't expecting such a strong performance! I have not seen any dramas with any of the MLs but they are so good. TJC and ZWY have these gazes that say all their hidden feelings.

I also really enjoy the story! With 3 main MLs, there is quite a lot of romance in this drama but refreshingly, to the characters, romance is not their main focus. They cared for Xiao Yao; they all loved her and protected her but they won't drop everything for love (which is very realistic), and the same for her.

I think acting and story is the two highlights for this drama! Highly recommended. Can't wait for Season 2! Hopefully, we don't have to wait toooo tooo long.

Intriguingly, the plot of "Lost You Forever" is set in an ancient era where the boundaries between humans, deities, and demons blur. The world, consisting of Chenrong, Xiyan, and Haoling, serves as the backdrop for this mesmerizing tale. It's a world where the supernatural and the mortal coexist, adding a layer of mystique to the narrative.

The story kicks off with Jiu Yao from Haoling, a character who loses both her identity and appearance while wandering through Dahuang. Her transformation into Wen Xiao Liu and her subsequent settlement in Qingshui Town set the stage for a journey of self-discovery and reinvention.

The presence of Prince Cang Xuan of Xiyan, who happens to be Xiao Liu's cousin, adds a familial angle to the narrative. His determination to find Xiao Liu and the subsequent exploration of their relationship promise moments of emotional depth and revelation.

As the story unfolds in Qingshui Town, Xiao Liu's encounter with Tushan Jing sparks a passionate romance that becomes central to the drama's plot. Additionally, the dynamic between Xiang Liu and Xiao Liu, characterized by mutual appreciation and trust, adds depth to the character relationships.

Notably, "Lost You Forever" doesn't merely rely on its leads; the supporting cast plays a crucial role in enhancing the narrative's richness and complexity. Their performances contribute significantly to the overall storytelling experience, underscoring the dedication of the entire ensemble.

What truly sets "Lost You Forever" apart is its intricate and captivating storyline. It masterfully blends elements of romance and mystery, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats with unexpected twists and turns. The drama explores profound themes such as love, destiny, and the enduring power of human connections, offering both food for thought and heartwarming moments.

The cinematography in "Lost You Forever" is nothing short of breathtaking. It showcases the picturesque landscapes of China, each frame meticulously crafted to enhance the beauty of the narrative. The attention to detail in every scene adds to the visual delight for the audience.

The drama's hauntingly beautiful soundtrack is perfectly tuned to complement the emotional depth of the story. It serves as an emotional anchor, enhancing the viewing experience and evoking a wide range of emotions, thus adding yet another layer of impact to the narrative.

Beyond its storytelling prowess, "Lost You Forever" delves into cultural elements, offering viewers a deeper understanding of Chinese traditions and history. This cultural richness not only makes the drama entertaining but also educational, adding an extra dimension to the overall experience.

What a Prod!

I am pretty new in this kind of genre.
And the production value of this series is great.

This is my first series of yangzi and the rest of the cast.

And yangzi can really act as in really act..

The scene where she thought her mom was alive.. Omg.. I was crying buckets.

The support cast mmm. Can do better.. But still passable

Looking forward to season 2

i only have one thing to say, WATCH THIS SHOW

I have only ever written two reviews including this one and let me tell you out of the gazillion cdramas I have watched, this is basically at the top. Beautifully written, the characters are so complex and intriguing, with the most stellar performances from well-rounded actors, this show really kept me on my toes the entire time. I am legit dying for season 2 idk how I'm gonna last til then. GORGEOUS OST that I keep on replay non-stop. Best xianxia/costume of 2023 easily goes to this, or till the end of the moon (both highest of high quality). Costume is stunninggggg I wish I could wear.
Alsoo PLEASE all i want is a Cang Xuan gege soo badly.

Hello! Just finished this serie, and here are my first impression :)!What a journey ;p !

1.The story got me so interested, that I will read Tong Hua book to get all the essence of it (and continue the journey to it's ending...).

2.The characters and their relations-connections are sufficiently researched to make me, (allow me) to wonder about my own inner desires, love goals, the background of the life garden seed. Also on how to give it or not a go/what it involves, for the best it can result on.
For the happy ending we, audience all exptect to see, to have too. :)

=>After all: In "Lost you Forever" the FL have lived as a boy/man for decades and think she can detect what she needs from mans when she switch back to woman form . The first chilhood relative is not an innocent like at all, the nine headed demon is by all means as dangerous as to meet a handsome version of Nosferatu and makes you dangerously feel that some part of you (your neck? :p) is just like he is- waiting for a thrill to feel even a bit alive..., and the fox-kind man is like a fragile, porcelaine god of purity, an absolute container of kindness. He's character is innerly very feminine and rafiné (refined).
But that said, each of them trully have some parts that matches our female male lead. Be it, for her male or female inner self. They are all multi dimensional, So is this show. I love it <3!

Best of 2023

What in the world was thisssss ??!!! Likeeee how dare they put together this storyline ,characters and just everything so damn well !!!!! 😤 😫😫😫😫 I started and ended this drama within 2 days and here i am counting down the days of season 2 !!
First off lemme say that i am in loveeeeeeeee with XL character 😍 he is like the best red flag lol and i am hoping he ends up with xiaoxiao !!! Like ughhhh why cant they just run off together and be happy 🥺 As for Jing ........ he is too clingy and has no balls, yeah hes sweet and tender but he couldnt even stand up for himself to his family. Like how can he protect herin the long run ??? And then theres her brother/cousin/im secretly in love with you whom is becoming more Nd more possessive smh. Like bro that just wierd lol the last guy im not even gonna compare bc he is just a stop sign in her road way lol 😂 but XL has the deepest connection with her in soo many ways, and i truly believe that he loves her and she loves him but bc of his past traumas and his personality he will never admit his love to her forwardly. He does everything behind the scenes to express that in the show. They both need to just admit it to themselves and say I Do lol.
But overall this show was amazingly crafted in everyway and im hoping for a nice endgame

Tan JianCi and YangZi: A Dynamic Duo in an Enchanting XianXia World

I'm going to be straight up and say that I watched this for Tan JianCi (and we got fed well). I'm actually not really a fan of XianXia dramas but I really thoroughly enjoyed this! The storyline for the most part is very well written and the CGI is pretty decent. YangZi did such a good job at being XiaoYao, and the other actors as well did such an amazing job in their role! I can't wait for Season 2 and I will be definitely watching it. At times, I was a bit confused on the actions of the characters for example, XiaoYao would have very confusing relationships with people as in best buddies to sworn haters in the span of seconds. In terms of her romantic relationships, OMG, literally everyone and their mum was after her, like literally every male character? In her relationship with TuShan Jing, I found her to be a bit immature, and I didn't believe that she actually liked him. The kiss scenes with him also felt kind of random. Their story was very cute in the beginning but it went downhill towards the end because bro cannot keep his promises for the life of him. I would recommend this drama, and say that is a must watch 2023 drama!

MaoBuYI OST elevated the series

Rewatched for S2 prep

There was a time I thought Deng Lung and Yangzi's chemistry in Ashes of Love was so good that nothing can top, but Yangzi played this character to perfection!
Her chemistry with Tan Jian Ci is next level. I never seen Tan Jian Ci so beautiful, not to mention the emotional level required for his character requires way beyond all his other roles. He can switch from loving eyes to pure hatred in a blink just using micro expressions.

Knowing how the book ended this is one drama adaption that I hope that it WON'T follow the book's ending. (I am in denial). In my head I am thinking can they make 3 different endings like how some Kdramas does it?

Yang Zi's chemistry with Zhang Wan Yi is not as captivating as Tan Jian Ci because Zhang Wan Yi's line delivery felt a bit too modern. Their chemistry does grow later on, and I am sure in S2 it will be fire!

OST ALL so good, but the best one is still MaoBuYi's OST "有你无你"

Most memorable scenes (for me):
ANYTHING with Tan Jian Ci (Xiang Liu)
Ep 14 34min The Discovery
Ep 17 33min Boat scene
Ep 19 31min Poison special (cute turnaround)
Ep 22 14min Xiao Yao protecting Cang Xuan with her life. Both actors were gut wrenching good!
Ep 25 Behind the mask
Ep 30 3min 1000 dagger scene
Ep 30 32min MaoBuYi's OST "有你无你" Most of the song was played & hit so hard
Ep 32 Full moon light
Ep 39 29min The parting

If it was so good then why the 9? Well, there was that blah:
Every scene with Mr. boring Tushan Jing. Yes, I know she's searching for Mr. safe stability, but the weakest chemistry is with this guy........................ since 4th guy came in the picture late and it's more of a drinking buddy than anything.

I'VE FINISHED A DRAMA AFTER 4 YEARS

11Sep2024

I finished this beautiful drama. I haven't watched a drama till the end for 4 years. I had to drop each one midway. But this is just that good🤍
Everyone has said everything so I'll just express how much I love it.

*The Main characters*

My heart goes to Chang Xuang who didnt possess his loved one, rather let her be happy with her husband. No matter how much it hurts him.

My heart goes to Xiang Liu, someone who only got pain in return. Life offered nothing else except loneliness to him. He knew he couldn't get XiaoYao but yet, he loved her like theres no tomorrow.

And Lastly Tushan Jing, or rather YeShichi. I love him. He's so gentle and caring that it's almost like a dream. One could only imagine getting a husband like him.

XiaoYao, my girl understood what her standards are, and she loved each person just they way they deserved to be loved. She saw the best in everyone. Despite tremendous amount of pain in her entire life, she never forgot how to love endlessly.

*Production and etcetra*

The costumes were good. Make ups were on point. But I wish Xiang Liu's lipstick wasn't that dark. The CGI was average (I understand it's a long series so they provided the best they can). Each character had their own OST and they were just so relatable for them.

Love you all. You gave me an amazing time and helped me escape reality. I cried for you, laughed for you, blushed and fangirled for you. I give all of you guys a hug❤️

A Must Watch ♥♥♥♥

I watched this drama a while ago and wanted to digest it before writing a review. I have never watched a drama hoping for a tragic ending. However, I do wish for a tragic ending, and even though I watched Good Bye, My Princess (2019) - MyDramaList, I did not feel any inclination to hope for such an ending.

In my opinion, part 1 of this drama deserves a score of 9. I usually rate a drama high if I feel that, regardless of the cons it may have, it will be a very rewatchable drama. It is true that I was very hesitant about watching this drama since I dislike love triangles, but I decided to give it a try because Yang Zi is an outstanding actress who has never disappointed me in the past. My decision to do so was a good one, and I'm glad I did. The story is very atypical. As a viewer, I have found something interesting about the main leads of this show. It seems like they are all damaged individuals, mentally unwell with some childhood trauma and adulthood trauma for some. It is imperative to note that the main characters in this show are flawed. Maybe not in the 2ML. However, their flaws make this show more impactful and that is what attracts the audience to it in the first place.

Below is pretty much a review of what I think about the pairing between the female lead and the 4 male lead characters. It is also what I am looking forward to in part 2. Not much of a spoiler, minor at most.

Spoilers: minor

Yang Zi and Zhang Wan Yi characters: The Prince (1stML)

The relationship between this pair is one of the most complex on the show, if not the most. Since childhood, they have known each other, but were separated and then reunited. They also have the most captivating and emotionally intense scenes on this show. For example, I found the mom-confusion scene where she thought her father's wife was her mother (if you watched you know what I am talking about) to be so powerful that all the other characters felt like extras. These two were the center of the scene and I was speechless the entire time, with tears in my eyes. The assassination attempt scene, the emotions in their eyes, and finally the withdrawal scene were well acted and emotionally charged. I would like to see them in more projects in the future because the chemistry is so natural and enthralling. They are honestly the most impressive actors on this, the others are good, but these two just blend well together.

Romantic Relationship: The Prince (1stML)

A romantic relationship is complicated between these two because they may be related (cousins) or not. Regardless of whether or not they are related, their chemistry is undeniably compelling and captivating. There needs to be more drama between them. As always, I am looking forward to Yang Zi's and Zhang Wan Yi's next projects. This is the first drama I've watched from him. Let me say Zhang Wan Yi is a talented actor and he has definitely won over many fans, me included with his performance in this drama.

Yang Zi and Deng Wei: The Typical 2nd ML (2nd ML)

In actuality, my opinion on this pairing would be quite controversial, and probably would not be well received by some, if one is to be honest, or perhaps others may feel the same way, but I am willing to share my thoughts regardless. In all honesty, the introduction of the 2ML character had some intrigue for me, since there was some air of mystery surrounding his identity and I was really fascinated by that and was looking forward to the reveal, but after the reveal of his identity, his character became very unremarkable and uninteresting. With such other compelling male leads, this character falls short in comparison. I felt like out of the four male leads in this show his story line was just the most bland and generic for such a atypical drama. In terms of chemistry if I am being honest, I didn't feel any not even on a friend level for this pair and their scenes felt repetitive it's almost always the same issue; also, I just didn't feel any chemistry between this male lead and the other characters, he just failed to stand out. However, from the writing and scenes it seems like the writers like him.

Romantic Relationship: The Typical 2nd ML (2nd ML)

If I am being honest, it seems like this is the writers favorite this relationship based on the writing. Honestly, I didn't care for this pair. They bored me.

Yang Zi and Tan Jian Ci characters: The Dark Toxic King (3rd ML)

There is a great deal of controversy and complexity surrounding this relationship. It is undeniable, however, that the chemistry between this pair is raw and explosive. There may be a toxic and abusive nature to their relationship, yet their scenes are electrifying and riveting. When they appear together, you don't know what to expect, like will he bite her neck, throw her off somewhere high or say some crazy ass shit? In spite of that, this is definitely the show's most entertaining relationship, leaving you shocked and speechless. Without this relationship, the show would not have been the same. It would be great to see more collaboration between these two. Having discovered Tan Jian Ci, I am now a fan.

Romantic Relationship: The Dark Toxic King (3rd ML)

Despite the chemistry, you know he's a bad for her, which makes a romantic relationship even more complex. While some people may say he is capable of changing, I don't want it. This is because what is appealing about his character is that he is damaged, but so is the female lead, so I don't know. They have some entertaining scenes, and the chemistry is sizzling, but given the nature of their relationship, I'm not sure how I feel about them ending up together.

Yang Zi and Wang Hong Yi characters: The Friend (4th ML)

In my opinion, the relationship between these two is pretty natural, and it brings a smile to my face whenever I watch them. There is nothing outstanding, but it is enjoyable and fun to watch. There are several scenes where he attempts to woo her in which I really enjoy watching. Although he gave off the energy of a best friend, I could still feel the chemistry between them.

Romantic Relationship: The Friend (4th ML)

I like them together. I wouldn't be mad if they ended up together. I can see them being friends that become lovers if the writers want to take that route. However, I doubt as he is the most sided-lined male lead out of the four.

Spoiler: Minor or Med (LOOK AT YOUR OWN RISK) What I look forward to in part 2:

For Yang Zi character: FL

Very likeable to me. It is safe to say that her character is not a typical lead. She is just as emotionally damaged as the rest of the characters and is not a saint and doesn't shy away from killing. There was a time when she planned to kill her grandfather and all her uncles for her cousin (Zhang Wan Yi character), and she supports his revenge plan in all its phases and is open to him using her. The most accurate way to describe her is that she is driven, smart, reckless, and crafty at the same time. Don't mess with her cousin.

Honestly, if we are aiming for a non-tragic ending, I want her to be alone and get back to medicine while still being friends with everyone. If it is tragic, I see her dying for either Zhang Wan Yi character (she has jump or try to jump in front of him a couple times already when he was attack) or Deng Wei character (she like him). Hopeful in part 2 we learn more about her background and she needs to stop making promises to all these guys. She can't keep it up or fulfill all.

For Zhang Wan Yi character: The Prince (1stML)

I would describe his character as dark, mysterious, vengeful, and maybe stoic except to Yang Zi character as he smiles more and is happy around her. There is something compelling, dangerous and appealing about this character and you want to know more about him and what happened during those missing years. I look forward to his revenge, and I hope for a blood bath.

For Deng Wei character: The Typical 2nd ML (2nd ML)

I'd describe him as spineless, generic, typical nice guy who has issues. I don't really care about this character, but it seems like he might actually be an endgame with the FL inferring from the writing. As for the kid's situation, I hope he finds out about it. I hope there is better writing for the character that doesn't feel repetitive and or not all about the romance with the FL; focus more on that relationship with his brother.

For Tan Jian Ci's character: The Dark Toxic King (3rd ML)

I would say his character is the hot and dangerous guy that your friends and family urge you to stay away from because he is bad for you, and you know it. However, you can't help but seek him out because the chemistry is overwhelming, and you are smitten by his charm, and he can do some kind things at times. Words to describe him are intense, hot and toxic. I call him the toxic king. It would be great to know more about his past and eager to know what his great plan is for his army. I see death knocking on his door.

For Wang Hong Yi's character: The Friend (4th ML)

I would describe this character as someone you can have fun with. He might actually be the happiest male lead out of the four. Out of all the characters I would say he is the most straightforward and safe. In part 2 I want to know more about his past and what role he will play in the Zhang Wan Yi character vengeance plot. I see death knocking on his door.
