Best chemistry between main leads and unique supernatural drama

One of the best Chinese Drama I have watched in 2021. Unlike the normal CEO ML and poor middle class FL chinese drama storylines, this drama stands out. The drama is a supernatural drama where the female lead is a rattan and a alien of another species. From episode 1 the story was awesome and the chemistry between the leads were really awesome. Not gonna lie but Sally Jing was the best choice to play the role of Si Tang, not only is she really beautiful but her bossy acting is really unique which many chinese actresses will not be able to do. Van Zhing was also the best choice for Qin Fang because he loved Si Tang more than his life and wealth. I would recommend people to really watch this drama because it's a completely new type of drama although there are lots of great supernatural kdrama's like Rattan. Furthermore Yang Furi was awesome too, he made the drama more happy and was a really great supportive friend to the main leads. What I really love about this drama is that unlike normal chinese drama's were the lead actor is a CEO, he is cold, cares for many, gets jealous because FL hangs out with other guys and other guys pursuing the FL. None of this thongs are here, although Qin Fang is the CEO of a architecture company he never showed this characters and loved Si Tang more than his life. Si Tang who never believed that love exist loved Qin Fang more than anything and would do anything for ML.

Now coming to the reason why I was not able to give this drama a 10/10. Till episode 26 I really wanted to give this drama 10/10 but the ending did not impress me I was hoping for way better. Comparing this drama to the supernatural kdrama Tale of Nine Tailed, both drama had romance and same story line between human being and supernatural being. But the reason why I was bound to give tale of nine tailed a 10/10 was because of the ending. The writer in that kdrama was really smart, to bring back the ML to life he used the afterlife judge character in return for his brother life, ML comes back to life but as a human being and ML and FL marries and lives a peaceful and happy life. In Rattan the writer wasted 4 episodes equivalent to 3 hrs 20 mins of watch time to show kid Si Tang and Qing Fang. And at the end Qing Fang couldn't live the rest of his life with Si Tang because she will die unless Qing Fang gives Bai Yings power. This was really a stupid thinking of the writer and he goes into comma and finally Xi Xhuzu grows up 20 years later and meets Qing Fang who is in comma. I believe that the writer could have done way better because he got time equivalent to a Hollywood movie and should have made the ending more happy.

Everything is very good if you talk about scenario, her outfits,Qin fang hairstyle in kast episodes ,yan furui comedy , small child acting ,kissing scenes ,hugging moments, all was amazing.
I kindly request to director to make second season of this drama ??????.

Jing Tian masterpiece acting

i have watch several of jing tian movie and drama, this probably the best acting she ever have . kinna like her since young as she was a pure girl who didnot mess with gossip around entertainment industries of china. but havent got any masterpiece product to represent herself ( now she got it ) , SITENG was so Life in her acting . and the chemistry between the CP was too perfect although the story didnot base too much on relationship , but it show kinna smooth chemistry instead of some cdrama with cinderella and prince style that kinna nonsense and feel like chemistry was too overdoing and unacceptable

The best c-drama in 2021

Story:
Fast paced so it is not boring, there is always emement of surprise that keeps hooking our attention. The storyline also quite rational and consistent depsite the fact that it is a fantasy drama.

Acting / cast:
I have to say that Jing Tian character as si teng is extremely adorable! The first time I saw si teng after being revived, it totally hooked my full attention, so beautiful, I never see any FL to be as beautiful as her. Vin zhang character also very good, despite being a servant of si teng, he is still showing his determination as a man.

Music:
Some of the music from rennie yang is very good and brings up the right mood towards the sad scene. It really amplifies the overall drama plot.

Overall: this is a very good drama, your heart will be touched by the plot, actor, and music. 10/10

Beautiful, Story you would never expect, Charming & Sweet

I started this drama because of Zhang BinBin and end up enjoying one of his best performance~

I'm not sure where to start but let me go with the view, regardless this drama production isn't the best one, but they did a good job for film location. I love where the film the first part of the drama, it's so gorgeous and beautiful that I really wanna visit the Shangri La. The CGI pretty decent, not superb but it's sufficient for the story.

Then the story about Rattan Alien who fall in love with a Human, and having a fight with her alter ego, her old Master and a bunch of Sect! Hahaha~ Trust me this is the most interesting storyline I've come across and I've seen many drama in my life to tell you how Original and Refreshing the story is.
The script itself is good, nothing that outstanding but I really enjoy how Si Teng present herself when she speaks.

The costume definitely one of the best so far. I like how classic Si Teng is, her hair, her makeup, her dress was beautiful and strong. And of course Qin Fang was, Oh My Dashing and charming everytime. They really do justice for both actors, both of them really looks at their best.

All the eye candies is just a complimentary, and the main key of this drama would be Si Teng, Qin Fang and Yan Fu Rui. Their relationship development, friendship and how they end up as a team.
Si Teng is strong and I can say one of the perfect character so far I've come across. She stays strong until the end and I like how she didn't get weak until the end, she stay true to her character. Qin Fang is gentleman and a good guy, I like how he conveys his emotions and how his relationship with Si Teng grew slow yet strong and build with trust. Their chemistry is just perfect!I cry with with Qin Fang when he met Si Teng again, it's such beautiful, the song fits and BinBin really play the role perfectly, filled with emotion and the best so far from him!
And, of course everything wouldn't complete without Fu Rui, he's such an amazing support for Si Teng & Qin Fang, his acting and his presence make the trio complete.

Of course there's small parts that I don't really like, but I can overcomes all for overall story, cast and production! There's an option for the ending so it's up to us to decide, but of course I prefer happy ending!

Good story but the delivery isn't consistently top-notch

I can't quite articulate why I took such a long time to watch this series; in fact, I almost forgot about it after watching till Episode 25-26 and only resumed watching months later. This is odd because the series does have quite a solid story. However, somehow, some aspects of the overall delivery didn't work very well for me although most aspects of the production are impressive. Perhaps it was the rather exaggerated behavior of Bai Ying, a sort of villainous splinter of the female protagonist, Si Teng. Perhaps it's the somewhat confusing portrayal of Bai Ying, which required some patience to continue watching to understand. Perhaps it is how some parts end up being a little too draggy (particularly Episode 26 onwards) and it felt almost as though the series was stretched a few episodes beyond what was necessary without really succeeding in enhancing the emotional impact.

Still, there are merits to the story, I find the first two-thirds of it much better that the rest, especially with the range of characters contributing to both heights of tension as well as lighthearted moments of comic relief. The story of mutants and the supposed battle between the humans and mutants (hybrids of life forms on earth and aliens) is interesting enough even if it ultimately resembles more conventional Chinese folklore about animals/plants cultivating themselves into demons (think: Journey to the East sort of demons) except that the setting is China in the 20th to 21st centuries. The last one-third or so of the story has a somewhat different personality, and this is where it may lose some fans.

The historical setting spans from China in the early 20th-century to contemporary China as Si Teng reawakens in the 21st-century after being "killed" by her splintered self decades ago. The unraveling of the circumstances that have led to her conflict with her splintered self and with the anti-mutant humans is the best part of the story. What I didn't quite like, however, were the borderline propagandistic messages about how utopian contemporary China is compared to the past.

We have a 30-episode series, but there is an Episode 31 that features an alternative ending. The ending in Episode 30 is more coherent, and the crowd-pleasing alternative ending in Episode 31 would have been good if it had not left too many things unexplained: how does Si Teng splinter another self when her powers are practically exhausted (there's something about a seed, but ...), how does Qin Fang find her after her disappearances, how does Si Teng manage to survive and why doesn't Qin Fang age? Perhaps the two main characters don't exist in a physical form anymore? (But then why would they talk about meeting up with their old friends, who have literally become older?)

The series does deserve a lot of praise except that I find it hard to praise it effusively. The concept is good, the story is interesting, and the overall production values are good. But it lacks a little something that would make it an unforgettable classic.

A View to remember! ! !

I hardly ever liked a fantasy drama as much as this one. Found it intriguing and made me anticipate what will happen next. And it was simply beautiful maybe because of the scenic scenes or because of the leads being my favorite, but overall it's a lovely drama to watch when bored. There is not much I want to say as I want to leave the drama a surprise and think that experiencing it will definitely be a treat.
The story was quite simple, there was not much going on, just her(FL) finding her other half(Bai Ying) and her love story with the ML(Qin Fang). The drama completely revolves around the FL(kinda like a female protagonist story), her journey to find the lost memories she doesn't have, her trials with life, a love that may not have an end and of course finding her life's reason. From what I understood this drama is slightly related to self development and in her journey of search, the way Qin Fang helps her, supports her and eventually falls for her was the highlight of the whole drama. They sacrificed everything they could for the well of the other and regarded each other as their goal for life, it was kinda a beautiful love story(I liked it!)
Each episode was thrilling and filled with romance and comedy, completely gave me an emotional ride. There were a few scenes that left me doubtful and confused but I later on understood them so I can't say this is one perfect piece and is completely flawless. I was still excited for each episode so it earned my rating.
Her clothing was another pinnacle I loved. She looked fashionable in every scene and this added a sense of strength and power to her character in a way. The casting and clothing was definitely something that separates this drama from the rest and I don't need to say more about Qin fang, he is certainly a handsome person.
I would recommend it and I have already rewatched it. My favorite scenes were especially the ones of Co Co Chen and Vin Zhang during the end ! Comment your's, would definitely love to hear your favorite!

What a waste

The story should be interesting, it's new and different. But sadly, after watching 19 episodes, trying really hard to like it, I'm just not impressed. I'm going to drop this one. To me, the story is sometimes a bit confusing, timeline is kind of a mess? And the acting, o my... the acting is just not convincing. I can't feel the chemistry between the main leads. Don't understand how suddenly the ML fall for the FL, there's just no story building to that. Some of the supporting role's acting is so over the top ?

Li Mu He / Rattan

Mr. Li Mu Ge

What an amazing Drama. I equal Rattan to Ashes of Love. Now I have 2 number 1 Dramas.
You did such a wonderful job , I have already rewatched it 9 times... But it was for a particular reason. A reason that no one has brought up to date...
You strategically placed Actors in the early episodes as fill ins, that we will see and experience in later episodes of the story.
I thought this was Genius.
Thus my second reason for rewatching.
This leads me to 2 questions .
Question #1 Who is Bai Jin ?? Why is he in Heaven with Ti Seng ? And the Magic Pill ?
Question #2 No one ever connects Dan Zhi Gang
with Qui Shan or the Magic Pill ?
Great fantastic and wonderful job on such a beautifull drama to date. That is to say i am at episode 27 ...

It was top 3, until episode 23. What was episode 30???? criminal.

Excellent Director, excellent and beautiful actors. I would love to hear the actors voices, no matter what, there's no need to dub... Anyways, it should have ended at episode 23. The bird man , the Master and Bai Ying should have found a solution for themselves. They were great characters. What's the need, after episode 23 in making 21's century man dress like women?? And worst: what was the idea, in episode 30, of makin a grown man see an adult in a child and put her in an adult bed??? what is that??? sick? criminal?? Episode 30 should be erased. It is sickening. Episode 31 was an obligation, and it's ok. But episode 30 is sick, whose idea it was? The writer? the Director or the production? Episode 30 has serious issues. Who wrote such a sickening thing??? How can you do that to a show that was going very well -- WAS. It WAS my top 3, but I can NOT recommend this to anyone, anymore.

This storyline was different and impeccable from other fantasies. I mean a tree and a human??? AND then there is GROOT! I'm just kidding.

Sally Jing who played Si Teng / Bai Ying did incredibly.
Vin Zhang who played Qin Fang, just 'unbelievable'! What a great actor he has become. He is one of my favorites that's for sure.

The fantasy and the visuals were on point. I couldn't find fault with any of it. The music kept my heart pumping and focused. This is the type of drama you can skip over episodes or you will be going back. The ending has its twist and turns that I threw my shoe at the TV. Nope! I'm not telling y'all the ending.

Refreshingly Different!

I'm only 7 episodes in but my initial impressions have been nothing but great.
The storyline is intriguing and mysterious, the plot doesn't meander and keeps a steady pace, and the cast is stellar.
The chemistry between Si Teng & Qin Fang is thick, thick, thick. I love watching their energy bounce off the other, and I can't wait to see how their relationship develops. For now, they're still in a master/servant (more or less) type relationship and they're building trust and rapport. Qin Fang is beginning to see Si Teng's many layers, and Si Teng is slowly understanding that Qin Fang is different than other modern men.

This is the 2nd drama I've watched with Vin Zhang. The first was Eternal Love and I instantly fell in love with his broody role as the Ghost Realms 2nd prince, Li Jing. He spent the majority of the show nearly despondent, lovesick, and angry, and I ate every second of it. Watching his character, Qin Fang, in this series has been SO FUN. His expressions are so versatile and he's got great comedic timing and control over his facial expressions and physical body language. I look forward to every moment he is on screen, especially when interacting with Si Teng (who is equally as impressive).

So far, so good! Having a lot of fun with this drama.
Side note: OST and CGI are actually really great so far. I've been used to very bad CGI from my last few Chinese shows (Eternal Love, Ashes of Love, and The Untamed. All of which are fantastic shows but very poorly lacking in CGI).

Episode 10 update:
I loveeee the shift in their relationship that I am seeing.

Episode 11 update:
Yessss!! I'm SO happy Rattan didn't go the drawn-out misunderstanding route! When they were reunited after her incident in the cave, I was worried they'd throw in the misunderstanding between Si Teng and Qin Fang over her seeing him with Yin Deng. It started out that way and she very cruelly pushed him away (aw, she was hurt!), but he TURNED AROUND and went back to explain himself! I love it. Oh my gosh, was that a wonderfully mature breath of fresh air.

Episode 24 update:
I.....didn't like the scene where Qin Fang fell. I know it was essential to the story, but the choreography of that entire sequence was really unrealistic and....weirdly unemotional? From the moment I saw him dangling off the bridge (with a giant bundle of balloons somehow still in his hand?) I felt disconnected from the scene because of how much it pulled me out of my suspension of disbelief. He fell like 3 stories onto the concrete ground and yet was so cleanly and perfectly prone in his position on the ground with the tiniest bit of blood beneath his head. I don't think anything would have been wrong with showing a bit more gore (more blood, more damage to his body, more sprawled position). Everyone on the scene was too calm, no one ran to help him- they all just stood there in a weird wide circle around Qin Fang and Si Teng while she showed very unremarkable sadness. I wanted..more? Like, it wasn't visceral enough or sad enough and it all seemed like it was happening slowly underwater. Then, not even a full 24hrs later, he's discharged to his house without an on-call nurse or any life-saving equipment (like a breathing apparatus or an IV) when they've just mentioned he's going to die soon and suffers fractures throughout his entire body? Really, y'all? I can handle a woman who shoots rattans out of her fingertips, but please don't play me for a fool with simple physiology.

Episode 30 update:
I'm overall a huge fan of this series. The ending was bittersweet and beautiful.
