Such a positive message of unconditional love‼️♥️

So if you're a fan of Derek Chang (if you're not, you should be!), the best work that I've seen him in is "Love the Way You Are" on YouTube. He plays the hot male lead and renowned chef/food magnate trying to rekindle with the girl whose heart he broke in high school (but through no direct fault of his own). At that time she was fat, but now she's skinny and a super model out for revenge! She has a rare disease that causes her to become instantly fat if she overeats but she really loves food and especially his cooking. He has ironically lost his sense of taste but only wants to cook nutritious meals for her as he tries to figure out if she's the same girl he's been looking for so he can explain what went wrong in high school.

For rom-com fans, there are plenty of laughs and misunderstandings on their path to happiness and the skinship quotient is quite high because he pursues her relentlessly, believing her to be beautiful whether fat or thin. IMHO it's second only to my gold standard of "Hello Again" for the romance and skinship with a gorgeous male lead just for fun. Pure romance with a lovely message of supportive, unconditional love from a man to a woman who wants to make it on her own terms. Heck, even when she gets busy with work and he feels neglected he still shows unfailing understanding and a sheer desire to see her happy.

I especially loved Derek Chang here. He's gorgeous (his Adam's apple is as charming and distinctive as Bruce He's dimples!) and I loved all the skinship and flirtatiousness that were hallmarks of his interactions with Eva/Yuanyuan. And what a positive message that inner beauty is what most matters and that we are all deserving of love no matter how we look! Plus, these adults are allowed to enjoy having sex! It's quaint in a 1950s way how marriage tends to be a prerequisite for sex in some of my favorite dramas, but in the real world, adults do what adults love to do! At first leading man is the typically arrogant CEO running roughshod over the sensibilities of his subordinates, but his inner core revealed a truly loving, supportive man ready to fight for his truth and his long held love for his high school crush. So reminded me of "Hello Again" in that the romance had been simmering from the start and we got to enjoy the ride to a very satisfying romantic ending.

The subplots and supporting characters were many and most worked well. I really liked the relationship Between Eva and her protective brother, the brother's comedic pursuit of Derek Chang's deputy, and how Derek gleefully stood up up to his own toxic mother. Another modern take on the younger generation compared to their parents'. So many times that stereotypical character of the disapproving mom is nothing but cliche but at least in this case our main man stands up for his true love in no uncertain terms.

made with good intentions with a lot of but

Watch this because I mistake our FL with Guan Xiao Tong, she's really similar with her. But in the end i quite enjoy watching this drama.

This drama made with very good intention, to make woman appreciate herself no matter what her body size. But the plot overall quite messy. Agree with jonjees, you really need not to look the loopholes in the plot to survive or complete this series.

The minus:
- The bad guy half baked. Like I mean what happen with Gao Quan, he just suddenly capture like that. Rebecca suddenly just change her heart. & lastly also Ni Hao just finished like that...
- the play of cat & mouse, how both our woman (Zhen Yuan Yuan (Eva) & Luo Yi Ren (YR)) really like to play cat & mouse with their partner.
- Once more they swept away the fear so easy. I mean the Xiao Nan (XN) fear of heigh can be cure be just like that. Especially if like XN himself said it's trauma. I don't think trauma or fear can that easily be cured....
- The man not respect the woman opinion. Like when Eva said to Ruan Dong Shen (DS) that she need space to turn herself back to thin body. Yeah I know you can argue he mean well, that no matter what she become he will stay by herself. But please that woman already tell you her opinion, please at least respect her for it.
- Some feel happen a little too sudden or fast. Like the way Eva accept her balloon illness and suddenly ready to tell the world about it.
- The unfortunate ending. Really like when Eva finally accept herself by telling the world that she really has that balloon illness. But the scene at the spa proof one more that she still care about her image. 大姐 you already tell the world about you can become fat, and you already accept the fat you, but in the end you still afraid about seeing with your big body. Aiyo.... Really hope that scene does not exist, or maybe even better if they show us that in the end Eva really don't care that she can be fat and keep drink that juice.
- Not clear how or what feeling Eva has to feel to heal DS tasting senses. Unfortunately from the very beginning there's no clear reason for how to heal DS tasting sense. Like what feel that make DS can taste sweet, salt, or any other sense, we just know like always jealousy taste sour. It will be very good if they make it more clear what feeling heal what taste. And in the end is all DS tasting senses heal or not also not clear, and about his intention to restore his dad cooking till the end also no result. Like the writer completely forget about that part of story.

Well all the drama also have plus point:
+ The positive intention that every one must love themselves.
+ The love that DX has for Eva. He loves her no matter what her body size.
+ Tell the story what will someone do if they know their life is about to end. I mean for YR. When she thinks she got diagnosed with death illness she completely change herself. & funnily after she learn that she mistaken about her illness, that when all the shame coming to her... Hehe...
+ The friendship between Eva & SN. One more proof to the world friendship between man & woman do exist.

Overall the message this drama want to tell us really good. But unfortunately it's poorly writen....

I stumbled upon this drama when I was looking for something to watch and it was a simple drama with a strong message. The premise might be the same as others but I liked the fact that it tackled insecurities in the society with live in. This tackles the mental aspect of insecurities build up through the years that even though you've changed and turned your life around, there's something inside you that doesn't sit well. That you can't fully face you imperfections if you don't accept who you are, if you don't love who you are. This is a story of the female lead's road to self-love and the fact that due to a misunderstanding, she broke off her friendship with the male lead. And I also liked that the male lead loved her regardless of how she sees herself.

This is a simple story and I liked that it had this message and it also had hilarious moments. Oh, the second leads are also hilarious.

Too Corny

Likes: Ooooo, the flirty seduction scenes were fun. Derek Chang is cute.

Dislikes: Besides the above, everything else was too corny. Tiny fashion malfunction warrants a grandiose rescue ? PUH-lease! A small rip in the clothing is not a trauma, people!

This drama just didn't work for me. I tried to stick with it for the OTP because the tension between the two was great, but the script was just too corny. I just found my self so bored when the OTP weren't flirting with each other which lead to more skipping than watching so then I eventually dropped it at episode 12.

Even though the chemistry was good between the leads, it just wasn't enough to sustain my interest.

cute simple but a lil messy (read the caps and after that)

acting/cast is between 7.0 & 7.5 so basically its alright
the story is simple but a lil messy when it gets a lil to complex and when the person who kinda hates ruan dongsheng and eva she kinda just disappeared (nvm, came back after a bit)
the music is pretty good
and i have to say everything goes by kinda quick which is not bad
honestly there rlly not much for me to say so far.....
(random note: let me just quickly say there was a episode where dongsheng (ml) sneezed and didnt wash his hands.....)
there are some parts of the story that is a lilttle bit dumb ex. ep 14 22:35 there are telling her to admit something but then solve it then later it would just kinda make her look bad yk
!!(honsetly dont read this review idk what i am saying haha lol)!!

!UPDATE! (finished watching)
ok so i just finished the drama and i think its not bad but between 7.5 and 8.0
here are some reasons.... ok so u might not notice but there were a lot of details that are a lil dumb and hard to pass meaning it just doenst make sense just like how they talked bout their dad (FL) they never showed him until the end which almost feels like they added a random new character yk?! another thing is that is felt like they kept adding more stuff to the plot which almost felt never ending and a lil boring bc of how much is in it. its like they only have one huge plot and no side stories and stuff. the ending idk what to say its either too plain, perfect(?), or missing something. i think they tried a lil too hard to hook u into the drama.....worth the watch but also dont.
