A heartfelt drama but needs another season.

I absolutely loved this drama though it had less romance then I expected I still think it's a really interesting drama that focuses on the opinions of the different doctors and how doctors and nurses work together in every situation. I really liked the two main leads they will go down as some of my favorites because of how well they portrayed the characters and their chemistry felt very natural. The other characters had interesting stories going on too and you can find it obvious who likes who very early on. The characters are very likable and stories for each of are quite interesting especially how they deal with them.
There are heartbreaking moments and heartwarming moments that they did incredibly well too.
Slight spoilers but this was only 30-40 chapters of the book ICU 48 hours which has 60+ chapters (at least from what I've seen from the audio book) This isn't complete because it's only like half of the book and unless there's another season I can understand why people find the ending kinda disappointing.
On the production aspect I think they only made it this far in this drama due to delays. It took 2 years to finish this season alone so I'm not surprised it ended the way it did. I still recommend watching it if you find medical dramas interesting and if you're not expecting much romance. This was definitely supposed to be a slow burn romance but got cut short unfortunately. The music is okay too, I mostly enjoyed the opening though.

An Ok Drama

Nothing spectacular in this series, i only stuck around for Bai Yu's acting. he was exceptional in "the wind blows from langxi." and "the Bond", i hoped he would have some more good works under his belt.

Any ways, two characters that are particularly condescending and frustrating all through the show, Tang hua & Chen Xi, and there was one particularity nosy character Xu Yi Ran who at times makes you feel irky.

All in all this show could have been condensed to 24 episode show because it didn't have much content be it romance, melodrama, or medically.

The script is focused only on the peculiarities faced by professionals who work in hospital emergencies. The stories of the characters are poorly developed, not even the protagonists had their stories told satisfactorily. There are no novels, the characters are just doctors discovering a multitude of diseases (mostly rare), their personal stories were lost between an uninteresting script and unberable direction.
The actors' work was decent, but there was no script and the direction was lost from start to finish. After a slow and tiring development, the finalization was rushed and without closing the poorly told story of the characters. I didn't abandon the drama solely for the performances of Yang Mi, Bai Yu and Fu Bo Han (Fu Bo Han's character was the only glimmer of hope in the drama, but he had few scenes).
It's the first time I've watched a drama by this writer, as well as this director, by the way, both have entered my list of names to reject watching a drama in which they are a part.
The soundtrack isn't bad.

First, the worst ending I've seen without a doubt, 40 episodes for something so stupid and boring?
The drama was very bad after chapter 30, they no longer knew what to do, and they were adding deaths, sick of any kind, without need.
When the 30 episodes passed, they should have given it a closure and not lengthen it with more patients and cases, and the return of the girl who was unilaterally in love, should not have returned and should not have left and so the protagonist would have told her what he said near the end.
Some cases they dealt with were really well done, but they were many and unnecessary, after chapter 31 I went ahead to only get to episode 40, and the truth is I should have done it sooner, since I didn't like the ending!
The romance came to nothing because it didn't even exist, they shouldn't have classified it that way.
The chemistry between the leads was good, the supporting characters were very annoying with their gossip, etc.

In short, for having more than 30 chapters and such a poor ending, I give it a 6 out of 10.

Maybe watch it for the cast who did a great job

Let me begin by how annoyed i am by the ending. I was hooked when i first started watching it not gonna lie. And seriously the first 20 eps were good, entertaining. The last 5 eps mainly were over the top rushed and with the amount of deleted scenes i think another 10 full eps can be made. It was pathetic, the editing and the ending. So many loose strings left untied, so much time unnecessarily spent on useless cases, i get it that it is a medical drama so u gotta focus more on the medical scenes but just handle them quicker instead of going slow in the beginning then rushing everything into a mess in the last eps to the point where it was even difficult to figure things out or get a good closure. The ending and the last 5 eps as a whole was so UNSATISFACTORY. It could have been so much better if it had better editing.

Lets move on to the characters now- i grew to love Bai Zhu, his character had growth, from an annoying bratty doctor to a mature man under the influence of his lady live who he relentlessly pursued. Xiao Yan was a little confusing to me, since i couldn't understand whether she even felt something for Bai Zhu, that part was simply not given any focus. There was almost no couple time, them growing feelings for each other was so vague, especially for the FL. They literally showed her only when she was needed for the treatments, her POV on her feelings, about Bai Zhu, her efforts were NEVER shown. Xiaoguang was such a nice character.
I can't say it enough really but I HATED TANG HUA! How can a non love rival character be that irritating? How??? Her whole damn arc was irritating, she and her stupid Chen Zhi both had zero growth, were totally flat and annoying characters. I fast forwarded all her scenes. Even zheng yajie was 100x  better than her.
I wanted to see more on the director and head nurse's story but that was cut short too, without a closure just like all other side characters were.

Most of the patients stories were so dramatic, i hated the characters of so many family members and some patients too. Their stories were extra emotional to a melodramatic extent.
The doctors own stories were okay, but side characters had 0 character development. The romance was not well built, thought it was understandable and could've been a good love story with better direction.
I can't quite complain about the acting because i found 0 fault with it, also i am a ym fan and i quite like bai yu. Thats the best part of the show imo.
Watch it if u want good acting, melodramatic stories, and nothing else to watch.

Just an opinion

This drama is kind of off to a slow start. I don't particularly like the ML. He's smug, arrogant and a bit of an asshole who thinks his shit don't stink. I also find him unattractive so he doesn't even have that going for him. His face is so punchable. The FL also needs more personality, but I do understand why she is the way she is. However, I love Yang Mi so I hope she brings her character out of her shell in later episodes. I'm also streaming this on Viki with English translations, but there are random parts with actual English spoken and I find it weird. I'd rather just hear Chinese being spoken and read English subtitles. Another thing that bothers me is the release of episodes. Only one at a time?

*Edit: More things to add on...
Both ML and FL have gotten better, but surprisingly the ML has evolved more. FL is still kind of a bland character for me which is disappointing cuz I love Yang Mi, but this just ain't it. She's reluctant to accept ML's feeling because of her fiancé that died, but they don't really go into much depth on that either so it's just boring.

Romance is not really big in this series either which is fine. However, the medical aspect in all of this seems very fake for me. Like why do they need 2-3 doctors for every patient? Why do they change the doctors for the patient during treatments? Despite a patient's consent or lack of, why do they allow opinions of people who don't have the medical power of attorney to get involved? Also, the show started off with both leads being more surgeons, and now they hardly operate. Everything gets passed off to some other department. It makes no sense to me.

There is also the issue of random characters like the girl that likes Bai Zhu. She just pops out of nowhere from time to time. Then Xiao Yan's brother... barely anything going on there. Then the Director's ex-wife and child... Seriously, random.

Now let's talk supporting cast... None of them really has anything outstanding about them. Not much growth either. I will say that I can't stand Cheng Zhi. Not only is he an absolute moron, but he's annoying as well. Bro can't take a hint. He honestly shouldn't even be a doctor with how stupid he is.

Overall, the show has gotten better, but a lot of the storylines feel half-assed. The show is ok, but I wouldn't watch this again.

DR. BAI ZHU WAS ANNOYING

What's up with Bai Yu's lip? There wasn't any chemistry between Yang Mi (Dr. Xiao Yan) & Bai Yu (Dr. Bai Zhu), he supposed to act confident but came out as arrogantly ignorant, seriously I don't want to be treated with a doctor like him, especially the first patient (as we watch) died during recovery. He's the definition of God Complex of a physician, sadly he proved himself wrong . Dr. Tang, Yang Mi's co-worker need another acting lesson, her looks like Yang Mi but acting wise was terrible. The best acting was Li DongHeng, he acted normal, his dialog deliverance was precise and clear. The actress who play 'Lead Nurse Jiang' was good. Yang Mi as a doctor looked very convincing, as mature actor Yang Mi could pass as an experience 'Doctor without Border' that had seen a lot in human suffering between war, poverty, emergent, and limitation of basic needs. Dr. Xiao Yan had been through a lot in war zone, between saving life on straining condition, experienced the misery of sickness, as well as broken heart losing her fiance.

Had enough, she requested to go back to China and worked at ER doctor in well established hospital. Dr. Bai Zhu just got demoted to ER (LOL - from Cardiac surgeon to ER doctor, never heard such a case happen in US ) after the death of his patient who he persuaded patient (& family) to agree to do a high risk surgery. Dr. Xiao Yan learned how to maneuver new reality being a doctor in civilize country while Dr. Bai Zhu was like a stalker. Besides all that, patient's dynamic stories were being presented as part of dramatic entries. Exaggeration in doctors part to be involved in making decision for patients, retrieving personal information of patient was breaching privacy, in whatever reason this was just outright no no. I didn't like to see doctors who put their hands in their white coats, it's lazy presentation of medical professionals on the job. Visited patients, went around checking patient with hand in coat's pockets? Didn't we ever see that in reality?

Watch it once and realized it's no rewatch value, as Bai Hu doing minimum effort I dropped this drama, Bai Hu wasn't a sympathetic doctor - more like an ash**le than an outstanding 'highly contribute' citizen as a doctor. I think Bai Hu brought this drama down, decided that 10 ep was more than enough. I think he'd be ok if he acted like he's most amazing talented great doctor (Like Dr. House) than as an arrogant bastard ignorant stalker.

Not a good medical drama - Dr. Qin is a better Medical Drama

The plot of "Thank You Doctor" was nothing to be excited about. It was a typical and boring medical drama; I don't think it needed to be 40 episodes long. It could have been better if it was cut short to 30 episodes.

I cannot stand the following characters in this drama's supporting roles.
- Doctor Tang Hua and the young nurse; characters are annoying because all they do is gossip and stick their noses and opinions where it was not asked for.
- Doctor Chen was stupid and had very low EQ when it came to love relationships.
- The main CP, Dr. Bai, was arrogant and should have expressed his feelings for Dr. Xiao already. It was too painful to watch their relationship progress to nowhere.
- The young actor who played Dr. Bai's son was great, and the older nurse storyline was better.

I plan to finish it, but I don't think it was a good drama, so I am giving it a 5.0 rating.
