Time's Fun

This was a delightful confection. The very lovely Ms Hamabe is quite implausibly cute, and the whole Drama is threaded with a delightfully wry gentle humour. A super short watch, the perfect dessert after finishing a longer, heavier Drama. The pairing of a 19 yr old with a 45 year old seemed potentially troubling, but the total absence of any amorous overtones (excepting the occasional nosebleed) made it a non-issue. A highly recommended amuse-bouche, of the sort that Japan seems to do better than others.

Some of the mystery explained still have some plothole.

The comedy and the plot in this story is so so. Hamabe's acting sometimes looks forced like when she's getting mad at and she's not responding well, and her priorities is confusing. Is it to break the alibi? Or to repair the clock? And as I said in the headline, some of the mystery explained will still leave you some question. Like some things just doesn't make sense. The show doesn't show character developent and I was watching till the last eps but I still don't understand who's Tokino's grandfather himself. Tokino is really good at breaking alibi and she's accepting the work to break the alibi, she should be famous at least to her client or her gramps client but she's not? It's just weird enough to me that she currently only accepting job from Saji. But overall it is still enjoyable to watch. Just not the best from the genre. And the cinematography is good.

This is a very charming show! If you're looking for a dark, thrilling show then this may not be the show for you; however, it isn't cutesy or too cheesy either. Granted, though, there are a few moments that seem a bit ridiculous, yet fit perfectly within the Japanese style of detective shows. Each episode is filled with suspenseful moments that seem to take your breath away and moments that seem to balance out and make this show the wonderfully inventive and genuine show that it is.

I have to say that I have written this in a lot of detective show reviews, yet once again: I could not figure out who the suspect was before the end of the episode. This show did confuse me sometimes, however, if you watch carefully you will pick up on each and every detail; though that isn't to say that the motives and suspects are easy to figure out, or that the stories themselves are simple! The entire show itself is very new to me; each plot for each episode is something the writers and actors painstakingly brought to life, their hard work definitely shows!

The acting in this show was superb! Sometimes in shows with a synopsis like this it can become a little cheesy or even a little easy, yet throughout this show it seemed to become tougher and tougher to figure out who did what to who and why! The female actors in this show did not seem like the "please rescue me, prince" type, and the male actors were definitely not "overprotective muscle heads" either. Each person portrayed their character as if it was the most natural thing in the world; as if they were one in the same with their characters. In fact, everyone's acting in this show is so solid and (almost) perfect that it is one of the reasons why I enjoyed the show so much!

There are a few points that seem slightly ridiculous or redundant that make this show a little cheesy, but each episode seems to "fly past" so quickly that you don't really notice them for too long, if at all! I can honestly say that this show could have lasted for much longer than 7 episodes, and there were times where the show itself felt a little rushed or jam-packed; however I also like where it ended.

If you're looking for a challenge, something a little happy yet filled with mystery and thrills, then this is definitely the show for you!

It was pretty obvious, for me, to compare this "Alibi Kuzushi Uketamawarimasu" with the dorama "Pure" which had come out only a few months before, given how they both share the same FL (Hamabe Minami), they both have, as MLs, what I'd call "members of the endangered species of really good male actors" (Higashide Masahiro there, Yasuda Ken here) and on top of that they also share the very same genre (Mystery/Investigation with a quirky premise and - at least theoretically - lots of comedy).
But whereas I had quite liked "Pure", I'm not gonna be able to give this the passing grade, sorry.
Apart from a coupla episodes, the mystery plots weren't really interesting nor very well done; the characters felt horribly bidimensional and neither particularly endearing nor actually that funny (imho the comic relief moments in this were only weird, without being at the same time hilarious, as it had been the case in "Pure"); despite having a pretty remarkable cast (with also Narita Ryo and Emoto Tokio in supporting roles), the actors couldn't shine, due to the dull script they had to work with; direction and photography were okay, and the music pretty good, but that's way too little to get anything more than a five, at least from me.

A light detective drama

I don't know if all Japanese drama are really pastel-like even if it's about crimes, but I can say that this was fun watching since the problems or "crimes" they encounter are not heavy or super serious. Tokino (Minami) is really adorable, especially when she is with Yuma (Ryo) or breaking the alibis.

I don't know if I'm just stupid but a lot of times I can't understand it every time she breaks the alibis. I think it is too fast and it doesn't make sense at all.

I'll just rate this a 5/10. A perfect drama if you want a light action drama with few episodes. But personally, I don't think it is a good drama. A little bit boring especially there is nothing thrilling to the scenes and acting. I believe Tokino and Yuma carried this show.
