Love, Fate, and Heartbreak
I just loved the ML! This drama was hilarious, but it also had me crying so much because of both the ML and FL. I was not okay. This show broke my heart in some parts.I was a little disappointed with the side characters. I didn't like them as much as I hoped I would, and I got annoyed by their behavior at times. I also found the FL's voice kind of annoying at first, but I could handle it.
What I really loved was how this show focuses on emotions and how powerful they can be. Sometimes you just need someone in your life to help you find and unlock those emotions. I also liked how the drama shows that when you truly love someone, living can feel like hell itself, causing you to lose yourself.
This show touches on some really heavy themes, such as how love can drive people mad and how, if you truly love someone, you can let them go. It also shows how fate can be unfair and that you can't run away from who you are, because it will always find you.

I Blame Netflix for This Emotional Situation
📝 Review(WARNING: Potential Spoilers — I’m Not Saving You from Any Emotional Damage)
This was one of my first Chinese dramas, and looking back, I genuinely had no idea what I was getting myself into.
At the time, I couldn't have told you the difference between xianxia and wuxia if my life depended on it. I was simply a curious viewer who kept seeing clips of a very pretty demon lord and a very pretty flower fairy all over the internet and eventually decided to see what all the fuss was about.
The first few episodes took some adjustment. Esther Yu's voice took some adjustment. The fantasy terminology took some adjustment. The realization that subtitles were about to become a permanent fixture in my life took some adjustment.
But once everything clicked into place, I was completely hooked.
The story follows an emotionally isolated demon lord and a flower fairy who initially seems far more fragile than she actually is, and what begins as a fantasy romance quickly grows into something much larger. Ancient grudges, inter-realm conflicts, impossible choices, sacrifices, and emotional devastation all pile on top of one another until suddenly you're far more invested than you ever intended to be.
The FL is sweet and gentle without being helpless, while the ML somehow manages to be intimidating, vulnerable, protective, stubborn, and hopelessly devoted all at the same time. Together they create the kind of emotional dynamic that carries the entire drama, and by the halfway point I was fully invested in whatever fate had planned for them.
The supporting cast adds depth to the story and helps the various realms feel alive rather than existing solely as a backdrop for the romance. Everyone's choices have consequences, everyone's motivations matter, and the emotional fallout rarely stays contained to a single character.
Fantasy romances like this live and die on whether you believe the central relationship, and I absolutely believed this one.
That said, not every storyline worked equally well for me.
The Chidi and Rong Hao arc in the later episodes was easily my least favorite section of the drama. I understood why it was important and what the writers were trying to accomplish, but by that point I was far more invested in the main story and found myself impatient to get back to the characters I actually wanted to spend time with. The amount of flute-related emotional suffering eventually reached the point where I was ready to file a formal complaint with the Moon Tribe.
I also need to have a brief conversation about the goddess outfit.
The transformation itself was fantastic.
The costume... less so.
Specifically, whatever was happening around the shoulders looked oddly distracting, like someone discovered decorative wire and metallic garland and became a little too enthusiastic about incorporating it into the design. The version used during the final battle looked significantly better, and I spent an embarrassing amount of time wondering why they hadn't simply committed to that look from the beginning.
By the final stretch, the emotional damage was arriving on a regular schedule.
Every major revelation somehow managed to hurt, every sacrifice somehow managed to hurt more, and every brief moment of happiness felt suspiciously temporary. The writers clearly understood exactly how attached viewers would become and showed absolutely no hesitation in weaponizing those feelings.
Then we arrive at the ending.
The ending itself isn't bad. In fact, I actually like the ending.
What frustrates me is how quickly it arrives.
After everything these characters endure, after all the heartbreak, growth, sacrifice, and emotional investment required to reach that point, it feels like the story finally gives viewers the payoff they've been waiting for and then immediately ushers everyone toward the exit.
The best comparison I can think of is the Ricochet song *He Left a Lot to Be Desired*. Not because the ending fails, but because it leaves you wishing there had been just a little more of it. One more scene. One more conversation. One more opportunity to sit with the characters and enjoy the resolution they fought so hard to earn.
My brain was still processing.
My emotions were somewhere on the floor.
My snacks had disappeared several episodes earlier.
In the end, I finished feeling emotionally exhausted, thoroughly entertained, and surprisingly grateful that this happened to be one of my introductions to Chinese fantasy dramas.
It wasn't perfect.
It had a few storylines I could have happily shortened.
It occasionally made questionable wardrobe decisions.
But it also gave me one of the most memorable drama-watching experiences I've had.
And somehow, despite all the emotional devastation, it worked.

the story and acting seems forced
I’m on episode seven but I keep pausing it to play Toon Blast instead of watch the show. I keep reading reviews about the show saying it’s incredible but I have yet to see anything to draw my attention to it. I wanted to drop it on the first episode but I’m tired of adding to my drop list I’m trying to complete every time I start now but I couldn’t do it . I’m putting it on hold for now maybe I can pick it back up later but at this current moment it does not seem worthwhile and overrated.Was this review helpful to you?
Story is good. So was all of the actors acting. This is the second series of Yu Shu Xin I watched, her acting in this series is much better than Amazing Boyfriend. She overacted in Amazing Boyfriend or maybe her character don't know.
I skipped a lot of scene after they enter into mortal realm.
I liked Dylan Wang acting, especially when Orchid & Dongfang Qing Cang swapped their bodies, his acting as Orchid is very cute & funny . Didn't expect the turn of even of Jie Li & Dan Yin. Dongfang Xun Feng was irritating.

A nightmare
I badly wanted to continue watching but it just doesn’t work for me, the acting of the ML is okey so far , colors looks nice but i just cannot with the fl voice, the infantilization of her character, her acting and what should be an abomination is her voice or the tone she is using. Found this show while looking for some Xian Xia dramas to watch, however stopped after 2 episodes.Story: NA
Acting/Cast: Male lead's acting was somewhat bearable but not the female lead. Main problem I have with the female lead is her voice and the way how she acts. It's like she's trying to be cute, but it just isn't working and instead is extremely childish and annoying. Tried my best to continue with this showing while ignoring the acting from her but it was still unbearable.
Music: The songs from this show were the only thing that made me come back to it, especially Jue Ai. So overall, the only thing for me that was decent from this drama is the music.

Can’t stand it
The female lead character is acting like she’s 12 years old and he looks like he’s 15. I prefer the series with more mature actors instead. I can’t even finish the first episode, she’s so annoying. I’m not sure why they like having so many immature characters in their stories. Series like Novoland Pearl Eclipse, Love and Destiny, Lost Love in Times, Eternal Love and Eternal Love of Dream, Miss S are so much more interesting.I really hope to see more series with mature actors. Chang Chen, William Chan, Vengo Gao, Ni Ni, Yang Mi, Liu Shi Shi, Ma Yi Li are amongst my favorite actors/actresses.

Disgusting Shit.
What I liked:- Nothing. At. All.
What I didn’t like:
- The female lead is insufferable. Her voice is squeaky and she sounds awful. I don’t know if it’s her dubbed voice or her real voice but it’s awful on the ears. I wanted to watch ‘Moonlight’ drama starring Ding Yu Xi as I like this dude but gosh, she was a dealbreaker in ‘Moonlight’ too. Same reason. High-pitched voice and poor, stiff acting.
- I understand that this drama is a fantasy kind and such but the costumes were hideous and ridiculous-looking. There was a man (who looked trans) wearing some horn or coral thing on his head. It was an eyesore! The rest of the costumes didn’t look that pleasing either.
- The male lead came later on in the first episode and so, I can’t say much about him. I haven’t watched anything with him in it yet though I know that he’s famous.
All in all, I tried my best to sit through one episode to be fair to it and give it a chance but it is a NO. NO WAY. Not wasting precious drama time on rubbish.
Perhaps other viewers may like this drama but it’s not for me and To Each His or Her Own.
I guess this drama did not work out for me.

Yet another low mark for Dylan Wang
My last review of a Dylan Wang series upset DW fans but as someone else here pointed out, they generally have a low bar so he gets high marks.This time I managed more than 8 episodes before giving up, I managed 9. The man simply cannot act. His fan club love his Girly Boy looks but seem blind to his lack of acting ability. It is obvious very early on that this will be a dragged out CGI series. The plot is thin and there are side plots that have no reference to the main story line.
This is just a series for the sake of giving Dylan Wang something to do. Yu Shu Xin was excellent in her role as Orchid and she managed to act the part despite the problem of a male lead who could not. Xu Hai Qiao would have made a much better Dongfang but still gave an excellent performance as Rong Hao.
Yet another Dylan Wang series to be avoided as you will never get back the time you wasted watching it.

Can't get over the childish acting
Despite the good reviews and suggestions that the story may be be good , I don't forsee myself being able to overcome it. FL whines and acts cute, her voice is fake. Overall acting is also not as refined. She also talks to herself out loud to display what shes thinking, and small movements come with hmphing and sighs.I think overall the audio is also mismatched in the drama? The voices don't appear to be coming out of their mouth, but is pasted in.

Why do people like thus so much?
This show is boring and has almost no fighting scene, just a lot of talking baby voices, and some cute moments. This is nothing compared to Till the End of the Moon, but this has a higher rating. I don't even think I know what the entire show was about, Yes the male lead is very handsome, and yes the female is very pretty, but she is so annoying. I think this show may have such a high rating because many people are big fans of the male lead. I watched up until episode 27 but its just not that interesting.Was this review helpful to you?
