Im done watching ep 19 and i was shocked that oh yoo he really killed min seol, I hope that su ryeon and yoon hee are not going to fight. :( and also i love logan lee, I ship him with su ryeo, i wish that he's appear again in season 2 and 3 and he marry su ryeon because they have a chemistry and Lastly I gotta admit that Lee ji ah is a great actress. I'll support you unnie, Still rooting on you. All the cast are great in acting Im still waiting in what happen in season 2 and 3 and please don't change the cast i'm gonna sad they suit them the character in penthouse :) I WISH THAT THIS DRAMA RECEIVE AN AWARD AND ALSO THE ACTOR AND ACTRESS BECAUSE THEY GAVE THEY BEST TO MAKE THIS SHOW BEAUTIFUL. Uneducated drama, contains brutal violences
Uneducated drama, contains brutal violencesThe casts is very good unfortunately the story is rough. What is up for grabs is the achievement of children in school, why is there such a brutal murder of girl. The production process, the quality of the players is very good, but the story is bad. Hopefully in the future the writer can make better work. Although viewers are limited to those over 19, even old age is not comfortable watching stories like this. I Can't believe that the screenwriter is a woman, sorry mam

Literally the drama of the year
I started watching this drama after seeing soo many tiktoks about it and it did not disappoint. I binged the first eight episodes and now I am waiting for the english translations for episode 9 and 10. HANDS DOWN MY FAVOURITE DRAMA OF THE YEAR!!!! If you are easily angered, I would not advise you watch this drama cause of the dynamics, but honestly just close your door and yell in your room if you get mad, the drama's worth it. At this point all I want is Bae Ro Na and Joo Seok Hoon to fall in love and for Seok Hoon to stop getting manipulated by his twin sister, Joo Seok Kyung. Well we will see. Penthouse is more of a mystery/thriller drama with 3 seasons. I definitely enjoyed watching this except there are a lot of sensitive things such as bl00d, de4d bodies, and more.This is the BEST show to watch if you want to watch a K-Drama with a mystery/thriller genre! (IMO)
There are A LOT of plot twists and I'm sure you'll be shocked because those plot twists are mostly UNEXPECTED! Even my mom got shocked lol!!
For example, Yoon-Hee was the true murderer of Min Seol-A. From the beginning of the story, it already has a lot of mysteries that need to be uncovered, and if you solve it before the drama uncovers the mystery, you probably can be a detective haha!
There are a lot of interesting characters with different and unique personalities that make the show very unique.
The plot is very good especially since there are A LOT of plot twists you would NEVER expect. IMO, the show makes sense and the truth is way more shocking than you think. (Especially for the first season!) I got really excited while watching this, I really wanted to know who killed who, how that happened, etc.
Though the ending... I really didn't want Su-Ryeon to die. She didn't deserve it. SSR is a very kind person but she can't control her emotions which led her to do bad actions. Logan gave her a vest at the end in case something happened. But, she didn't use it.. It made me really sad..
I also think Yoon-Hee didn't deserve to die. All she wanted was for Rona to be accepted in Cheong-A. Yes, she may be selfish but she's a mother, and a mother would do anything for her child to be happy.
I have no reactions to Seo-Jin and Dan-Tae's death TBH. They both deserve it because they were the real villain.

WHY PENTHOUSE IS THE MOST POPULAR IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES?
The Penthouse :War In Life is SBS series which is planned to have 3 seasons.This drama is very popular in foreign countries because of its makjang plot in it.
MAKJANG is a tag used in movies and dramas especially in the drams of SK. It means this drama have very unbelievable plot like the love affairs ,corruption , perfect murder/crime which are very intense in it.
And Penthouse has this makjang plotted very well in it and it is full of suspense!!That's why the viewers are always never disappointed at the end of any of its episodes.

Why is it worth watching?
The drama is very similar in plot to"SKY Castle". We are also shown the top 1% of the richest people in Korea and suddenly there is a murder. The plot is based not only on the search for the killer, but also on the internal intrigues between the characters. The topic of wealth and as a consequence of human unscrupulousness, the problems of teaching children and the pressure of society is raised.The drama beat all ratings in Korea and was renewed for 2 more seasons.
The second season will begin airing in February.

What a waste of time...
After watching the episode of The Penthouse ...quite disapointing since it was Dan Tae all along not know about Seo Jin yet...but BORING..twistin it around why not from the beginning just inform it was Dan Tae and the story will be interesting since the viewers already knew but the character did not know....kim soon ok is just palying around....she is just another makjang....and tbh making it to be 3 season when Dan Tae was revealled as the murder probably with kim so yeon is just BORING....i was hoping it was Yoon Hee or probably Logan Lee father who did it with reason to make sure Logan will stop involve with Seol A....gosh...LAME and Boring....then...if my prediction is right than Bae Ro Na is yoon chul daughter or Eun Byeol daughter is not his probably Seo Jin loose her daughter or cannot have children so she pick a baby....that will be understandable why she was so hard on her not daughter all along...gosh...just to make a point on how evil and wicked Cheon Seo Jin the writer have to make sure she is really terrible se torture her not own daughter ....or how ignorant su ryeon to her step twin children....lame....boring....Was this review helpful to you?

Psycho But It's Not Okay
this is ridiculous! honestly this is not makjang, this is psychopathicness................................ and like it's not a "I don't believe this" but this is just taking the most extreme idea and acting as if it's "original" or "revolutionary".everyone is crazy, everyone is a psychopath and everyone is a self centered entitled brat, not just the kids EVERYONE.
I hate that I'm dropping this because the actors are amazing, and most of them are my favorites, but this just makes my blood boil...
honestly I was laughing so hard, and I was rolling my eyes every 2 seconds..
1- I said if Seol Ah turns out to be Soo Ryun's daughter I'd drop it and guess what... (and that's my point, the 1st most ridiculous crazy idea comes to mind and that's what the writer used. that's just basic) that's what they're implying and I don't even want to see them "shock" the viewers ;/
2- Seo Jin is a psychopath, she doesn't just want to win, she wants to make her competitors suffer.
3- Dan Tae is a psychopath, that scene where he hired gangsters and killed Soo Ryun's husband in a dramatic way was just so infuriatingly ridiculous. but he also proceeds to cut his finger and KEEP IT.
4- Yoon Hee is a victim but she, just like her daughter and seol ah, fuels the fires of those psychopaths. like yes she had to be angry but to threaten seo jin to the point she slashed her throat? that's crazy on both ends
5- one 15 year old against a gang load of crazy psychopathic rich people... honestly she messed with the wrong bunch and she pretends that they're out to get her;
A- she fakes her identity and pokes the crazy cubs.
B- she takes pictures of the 2 psychopaths having an affair
C- she wins against yoon hee's victim mentality and her daughter
D- she literally threw a match on the already angry and crazy bunch and she exposes the kids bullying (like girl you should've just went to the cops and the newspapers. sold the exclusive, got money and went to France to sing real opera)
F- she walks with her own two 15 YEAR old feets to the enemies' lair and she gets kidnapped. then killed...
6- non of the middle schoolers looked 15, they looked 20 as they were ;/ honestly is it so hard to cast actual 15 year olds ;/
7- yoon hee literally was ready to KILL a 15 year old for a spot in a highschool! like just save your money and move to France! she should've moved 15 years ago tbh, no one there would've cared that she lost ONE award. (which she makes it sound like that ruined her life, no it was your threats against a psychopath)
8- everyone else is just as crazy and self conscious, you'd think money would make them happy ;/
9- the 1st weeks eps were almost 2 hours!
10- in sky castle the kids were mostly ok, and the characters were driven by their pasts. and for world of the married it was a revenge story about a cheating husband and the clueless wife (though the 2nd half and ending did reach the overboard makjang) but this, this was purely made for "how crazy can it get" and koreans love that but it just makes me role my eyes and compare it to The 100 which is a dystopian story xD
11- bae rona is crazy, she lost 1 competition and she was about to slash her throat! yes talent matters, but you can't always win, and you certainly need to know your battles.. again like there aren't 2 opera people in the world, she should've looked for someone else but no she blames her mom ;/ smh it is the mom's fault she didn't raise her right..
12- honestly opera is not a rich people hobby, they can't buy vocals with money and honestly buying people's opinion doesn't matter once everyone sees they have no talent, they literally had no reason for all of them to peruse opera. they could've just chose classical music.
13- the kids didn't need to be 15. they could've been 18 year olds fighting to enter their top 3 universities, were they afraid becasue the top3 were called SKY xD
14- two 40+ year olds literally kidnapped and possibly killed a 15 year old ;/
the good, that are sad becasue I'm dropping this
1- I honestly LOVE the actresses here, I've been waiting for Lee Ji Ah since Ghost Detective, Kim So Yeon since Mother Of Mine and this was my 1st time seeing Rohee's mom Eugene and they are all such amazing actresses!
2- the setting, the outfits, the makeup, the visuals are all so beautiful
3- this was my most anticipated drama ever since I heard about the castings ;(
this saddens me more than hating When I was The Prettiest and Alice becasue I expected something beautiful and amazing ;(
I actually love opera and the ost were nice but I can't take that plot

Another Makjang?
Listen. I like makjangs. They’re flamboyant and over-the-top but a good form of guilty pleasure. Therefore it should come as no surprise that when I heard about the immediate popularity of ‘ The Penthouse’ and its multiple spin-off seasons, I was willing to give it a go.The biggest thing that I can say about ‘ The Penthouse’ is that it isn’t supposed to be a realistic storyline. It does focus on notable themes such as social hierarchies, prejudice and inequality with a flare of drama.
The acting is decent enough but I’ll be honest in saying that there were moments which felt a bit lacking but I’m not sure if I entirely blame the actors so much as I do the dialogue.
One of my major reasons for dropping the series was that it didn’t really click with me. For me a series has to have an instant hook and whilst ‘ The Penthouse’ had potential to be intriguing it didn’t really draw me in. I think the major factor was that the pacing was a bit off and even in the several episodes that I tried watching due to a friend’s recommendations, the storyline felt as though it was lacking in more evident plot logic.

The most overrated drama yet
One of the worst dramas of this decade. It used controversies to gain Attention, it copied the concept of sky castle and the world of the married (both one of the top rated dramas) and showing bad contents without age ratings. It thereby built up it's hype with controversies and clout. Moving on to the main drama, the actors and actresses all over exajurate, everyone is evil...in real life we know this not true. Even minors are horrible, the drama is a mess. I will not encourage anyone to watch this, I would have given it a 0 rating but at least, they actually spent their time practicing, I'm dropping this for superior dramas like kairos and the uncanny encounterWas this review helpful to you?

Suspending your disbelief will require brain damage
As a preface, I only saw the first episode. Might be it gets better, but judging by the other reviews it only gets worse.In the first episode, there are 0 likable characters. Everyone is driven by some lowly emotion, jealousy, drive for 1st place, hatred, etc.
The reason I took 5 minutes out of my day to write this is too warn others about how ridiculous this show is. First things first, the mother of the MC literally runs heels first into the principal, bumping his teeth out from the impact. She walks out in front of 100 people and goes about her day normally. I hoped it was a fantasy. It wasn't. Then I hoped she would at least face some consequences, you know, like police going after her or something. Nothing happened. It's literally ridiculous. The characters are ridiculous, the events are ridiculous, the acting is ridiculous.
I give it an unwatchable/10. You've been warned.
