Medical drama mixed with action comedy
This drama can remind people about Doctor House, the confident self-absorbed doctor with exceptional skill. For me, it has the trapping of that drama, but its made in a very specific style of Korean action comedy. It's fast pacing keeps the audience engaged the whole time and the found family aspect of creating the trauma center squad makes the viewers bond with the characters quickly. It also engages with forever present issue of our times "when health care system is run like a capitalistic business patients suffer".Was this review helpful to you?

I watched it twice.
I thoroughly enjoyed binge-watching this fast-paced drama, which delivered a series of gripping scenarios that kept me completely hooked. I particularly appreciated its portrayal of the realities within a trauma department, from interdepartmental competition for funding and insubordination among colleagues to the unfortunate neglect of this vital hospital unit. Even the exaggerated moments were a delight, thanks to Ju Ji Hoon’s effortless and compelling performance. The dynamic between the main leads was highly entertaining, and Ju Ji Hoon’s remarkable versatility made every scene a joy to watch. With only eight episodes, it felt far too short—I truly hope there's a second season! Was this review helpful to you?

Popcorn but only the best kind
TLDR: Very fun popcorn for your brain with tons of fun moments and high rewatch value.Overall: Overall a breath of fresh air from the typical romance centric Kdramas. The cast has great chemistry with the lead stealing the show in almost every scene he is in. Coming from a medical background I will say it's best not to think too hard about what is actually going on as you won't find realism anywhere in the same zipcode as this hospital. But thankfully the show doesn't take itself too seriously and leans more into the comedy and goofiness.
Story: Pretty average when it comes to medical dramas. Nothing super ground breaking and not horrible. The pacing was great with nonstop action which both mirrors the hospital and made it infinitely more fun to watch. I don't think this is the main focus of the show and is more a way for us to see the characters shine which it definitely succeeds in. Just don't go into this show looking to brush up on your medical knowledge and this part of the show won't get to you too much.
Characters: This is by far the best part of the show which is a recipe for success. The lead is charisma and competence made human and he is very convincing as a no-nonsense attending who's seen things overseas. I do think the backstory to his character is fine but probably the weakest part of his character. I don't think the show needed to give us an explanation or explore what he did in the past and I honestly think it would've been more interesting to drop little hints without giving the full picture. After all, once this show starts leaning into the more serious side of things it quickly loses its entertainment value imo and dark/gritty backstories fall squarely into that serious camp.
His team is also super fun and I think they are the perfect example of I don't need to know how they got there, just that they got there. From the intro in ep1 to the final scene we don't learn much about them and I think that suits this show perfectly. Anus is super fun as the comic relief that slowly finds his role. I love his arc and how slow the show took it. He always feels out of his depth (which is probably the only accurate depiction of real medicine) and he plays a good balance between hilariously incompetent while trying to do the best he can. Gangster is great as the 'veteran' nurse who knows more about the hospital than most physicians. She plays off Anus well as the yin to his yang and I highly appreciate the shows decision to not hint at any romance between the two because thank god. The anesthesiologist was the rock of the group and completed the group dynamic super well. Not a whole lot to say on their individual characters because frankly speaking they're infinitely better when they're all together and the show knows this.
The villains of the show were suitably evil for the tone of the show. I think the GI attending (forgot his name) had a cool arc and I enjoyed watching the way he tried navigating his way around the proverbial unstoppable force and immovable object that was his boss and the lead. The rest were fine, they weren't given a whole lot of impactful screen time and were more obstacles with faces for the main team to overcome. I thought the reveal at the end that the director had been different in the past was interesting (seeing some jaded attendings it does make you think that at some point they were starry eyed med students at one point) and if they ever get a season 2 I'd be curious to see more of his character and which path he goes down.
The acting is fantastic all around. Can't give enough props to the entire lead cast.
Music: Was fine. Didn't standout and I didn't rewind any scene because of the song so makes it average in my book.
Rewatch value: Super high. I think the lack of any kind of romance subplot with the quick pacing make it very easy to rewatch and have a great time.

A heartwarming fun ride.
I really enjoyed this drama!I loved the plot, the acting, and just the whole vibe.
I'm glad it wasn’t stretched out to 16 episodes the shorter length kept the story tight and never boring.
Even though I’m not sure how realistic it is for someone to be that good of a surgeon (I don't know much about medical stuff anyway), it never felt unrealistic to me. I actually loved seeing the male lead pulling off all sorts of crazy surgeries he made it so fun to watch!
His attitude, his energy everything about him was just so entertaining.
I genuinely liked all the characters, but one of my favorite moments was when the ML threw the Chief onto the couch I laughed SO hard!
And honestly, Dr. Han completely stole the show for me.
His acting was phenomenal I enjoyed every single one of his scenes!
Absolutely loved it!

One of the BEST
I loved the medical dramas especially with being in the medical profession I love the REALITY that there are people that don’t do it for the money only but for the real care of the patients they provide care for and they give a little bit of themselves to each patient they come across and take a little bit of the patient with them! This is how it should be for sure ! I hope that there is another season or 2-10 of this showWas this review helpful to you?
Solo-leveling of Medical Dramas
It's an action-packed "high-stakes" medical drama that packs in a lot of punch but lacks impact. In simpler words, it's an amusing k-drama to watch that is entertaining from beginning to the end. The writing is very self-indulgent with flashy characters who are fun to watch, stunts that definitely don't belong in medical dramas (but I'm not complaining), and an arrogant Mary Sue for a main character.I think drama does well what it sets out to do. It's only eight episodes long, which is a smart choice because this drama is like a chocolate mousse which is to say it is mostly just fluff. The characters are one-dimensional, no one has any interesting stakes, there is no over-arching plot, and the premise is basic. However, it shines with execution. The tone of the show leans into shock-value based humor that doesn't turn cheap because it ends in eight episodes, the music and cinematography really highlights the stakes in each case in a way that leaves you wanting to watch just until this case ends, and just until this conflict is resolved, and just until the show ends. There is never a boring moment.
I think there are three criterion for a great story: characters, premise, and execution, but you only need to do one of these really well to be a decent story. This drama, as another reviewer put it, is "stylish." It does not have the charming characters of Hospital Playlist, the convoluting premise of Doctor Lawyer, the realism of Scrubs, but that also owes to the fact that it isn't exactly in the same category as those. This drama is less heart and more adrenaline. It's a fun watch, but it's no literary masterpiece - and that's okay. It's a self-indulgent, fast watch.
Now, do I recommend this? Honestly, yeah. You don't need an attention-span or media literacy to enjoy this. Tbvh, imo, it is slightly better than Solo Leveling in the "cool action but no substance" genre, because it comes off more as a trailer than a full show. I am curious about the nurse, and the protégé, and the anesthetist. If a second season delves into their lives, backstories, and relationship, and does it well, I will watch it. But Solo Leveling had one character and everyone else, well, i don't remember, don't care about. can't be paid to read ragnarok.
Overall Rating: 7.0

worth to watch (my opinion)
it's overall a great drama, hospital lifes etc. I know this drama from a youtuber doctor who reviewed it, not the most realistic and obviously not true but i liked the adventures, and the main character's "mystery" feels somewhat engaging and different to me, bcs of this drama i actually go and watched resident playbook and NOT from hosplay (crazy ik), i never actually watched a drama with hospitals or like first line duty except for TFR that has 2 seasons (I've watched). Overall a great drama with no romance which i very much like on dramas like this, would rewatch if i have no more dramas on hold (impossible). didn't pay much attention to the OST so i don't know if it's good or nah.Was this review helpful to you?

Action packed
Sure, some of the cases/situations were unrealistic, but for me, that didn't in any way take away from the charm of this drama. It sounds strange to call this type of show (blood, guts, action, etc.) charming, but it was for so many reasons:1) Ju Ji Hoon - He is a wonderful actor, and he was able to straddle the line between brilliance and off-putting arrogance. He wasn't unlikeable in the least, which I really appreciated.
2) Bromance between Dr. Baek and Number 1. At first, all you see is fear of Dr. Baek, then respect grows, and Number 1 grows in the process. There was a lot of understated humor here.
3) Nurse Cheon as the long-time pillar of the department. She was smart and professional and didn't put up with anything from others.
4) No romance! Thank you so much for not trying to divide up the focus of the show.
5) Dr. Han. I hated then loved this character! Lots of comic relief here.
My only pet peeve about this drama was purposely ending with eight episodes, knowing that they have planned for a season 2 and 3. Hopefully it won't take two years for the next season!

A fun medical drama to watch—good, but not the best.
I think this drama is interesting. If you ask me what stuck with me the most after watching, I wouldn’t hesitate to say—comedy.Honestly, even though the theme is totally different, the way this drama is presented kinda reminds me of Doctor Cha. Plus, the characters are pretty eccentric, making it hard not to remember their absurd behavior.
As someone who’s watched quite a few medical K-dramas, I’d say this one is definitely a good addition to the genre. But personally, I feel like there are still some things that could be improved in the next season.
One of the most important things, which is usually present in other medical dramas, is the explanation of medical terms—whether it’s about diseases, procedures, or other jargon that non-medical people wouldn’t understand.
Honestly, while watching this drama, I was kinda lost because I had no idea what they were saying, but I was too lazy to pause and look it up. Usually, in other medical dramas, they include brief explanations on the screen, but here, all they show is the patient’s basic info.
And then there’s Dr. Baek explaining a patient’s condition to their guardian—he just goes straight into medical terms, and somehow, the guardian immediately understands everything. Either medical knowledge in Korea is just that advanced, or I’m the only one clueless here.
In most other medical dramas, doctors usually explain things in the simplest way possible. If they do mention medical terms, they usually follow up with a line that explains what it means. But in this drama, it’s like they assume everyone already knows what they’re talking about.
Now, about the emotional aspect. Since this drama only has 8 episodes, each one feels kinda rushed. So aside from the comedy, the emotional impact doesn’t quite hit. The frustration, sadness, fear—it all feels somewhat lacking because they’re racing against time.
I think the next season would be better if they increased the episode length, maybe around 60-80 minutes per episode. Anything less than 60 minutes just isn’t enough.
Like, in other medical dramas, even if it’s just a little, they usually give us some background or a flashback about the patient, making us really root for them to survive—like, "I don’t care what happens, they have to live!" But in this drama, the only patient with an actual story was Han Yurim’s child. The rest? We barely know anything about them. Even in Lee Hyeon Jong’s case, we only got surface-level info. Sure, we know he has to be saved, but emotionally, it just doesn’t hit as hard because we don’t really get to know the patients.
But of course, there are things worth appreciating. One of them is the casting. I haven’t read the webtoon, but I feel like they nailed the casting choices. At first, I doubted Choo Young Woo’s acting, but turns out, he was actually the best one! His improvement compared to Once Upon a Small Town is insane.
The surgery and rescue scenes were also well done. The cinematography was great, and the fake organs looked convincing (because trust me, I’ve seen medical dramas where the organs looked super fake). The trauma cases they picked were solid, and the drama really emphasizes the importance of the golden time, which I think is one of its defining traits.
Other than that, this drama, like Doctor Stranger, where the main character has a near 100% success rate, sometimes gives off a fantasy vibe. Even when they miss the golden time, the patient still survives—just ends up in a coma instead. There hasn’t been a case where the main character fails to save a patient. Maybe that’ll happen in the next season… because at the end of the day, doctors are human, not superheroes. Even if it sucks, failure is something every doctor has to face at some point.
But overall, this drama is good! I’d recommend it to people who want to watch a medical K-drama that isn’t too complicated or filled with heavy politics like Yong Pal lol.

One of the Best Dramas of 2025
First of all, I want to say how deeply I was impressed by the dedication of the main character. No matter the situation, he rushes to save people. Like Dr. Yang (Anus), I looked at him with adoring eyes. He showed me what a real doctor should be like.I also want to highlight how the story was presented. It seems to have the perfect combination of humor, social issues, and medicine. I’m glad there was no romantic storyline here – it wasn’t needed at all. It was much more interesting to watch the relationships between the main character and the other characters.
I think this drama deserves to be called one of the best of 2025.

Amazing medical drama!
my review on the trauma code: heroes on call! i binged all 8 episodes today (which was shocking for me lol i haven’t binged a show in a long time!) and here’s what i think as a reader of the webtoon it was adapted from:- they cut out a lot of things from the webtoon (im currently reading it since a few weeks ago) but they kept in most of the important parts that happened, it was very entertaining as i love a good medical drama and this kept me hooked from start to finish
- the casting for me was on point for the main lead which is dr. baek kang hyuk whomst ju jihoon played and the other supporting characters they were all portrayed well by their respective actors 👌🏽 and JJH did amazingly well on his role as dr. baek he brought him to life and i loved it
- i will say don’t watch this while eating and if you’re sensitive to lots of bloody scenes and seeing pretty detailed operating scenes cause there’s a lot and they looked really real it was hard to believe it’s just a kdrama lol but it may gross ppl out who are weak to that you can just skip those parts if you want
- overall i rated the drama an 8.5 because it balanced well between lighthearted funny scenes with intense hospital scenes and drama, i liked the message it sent out which is that doctors should never give up on their patients no matter how difficult things may get and was very realistic in that aspect with many people in the health care industry that are corrupt and don’t value their patients as much as they do money and power, no unnecessary romance either it was just medical drama and kept the essence of the webtoon, i’m never one to ask for dramas to get a second season but i’d love for this one to get a second part if possible!
