this is the perfect drama to relieve your stress
Every episode of this drama will guarantee to make you smile. Shin Hyesun's acting is just so amazing. Actually, every actor of this drama perfectly fits their role. What I love about this drama is that it did not sacrifice the plot just to make the audience smile. Some comedy dramas doesn't have a stable story because their only focus is to make us laugh but that is not the case for this drama. The reason I did not give this a perfect score because the last episode seems shallow. It feels like they run out of ideas and decided to cut the 19th episode into two to make it 20 episodes. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed this drama and I highly recommend it to everyone. If you want to relax and just watch a light drama that will make you laugh, then this drama is perfect for you.

Absolutely perfect!
I was curious what was the hype around it but now that I’ve finally watched it I understand. Everything from the plot to the cast's performance felt complete, I couldn’t bring myself to watch or do anything else besides watching it until the end. Very joyful ride, I loved the combination of very serious and very comedic vibes.I’m looking forward for more dramas like this even though I know nothing can beat Mr Queen. If anyone is wondering if they should start it there’s no need to hesitate and should do it because it’s absolutely perfect!

Top Tier Entertainment - Heavy dose of Comedy and Romance in the Backdrop of Palatial Politics
I am walking out of this drama as a devoted fan of Shin Hae Sun. I cannot imagine anyone playing this role better than her, she does absolute justice and more to the character. She is great a depressed queen to be and even better as a man trapped in Joseon kingdom. Kim Jung Hyun was wonderful as well, his comic timing was not a surprise to me given his previous roles. Seol In-Ah is gorgeous. The side characters are memorable and endearing who lend beautiful balance to the ensemble.I have religiously avoided historical dramas and the classic body switch trope because they tend to be very predictable BUT Mr. Queen brought its A game and I am a convert. Agreeably, it takes a couple of episodes to get into the drama but once you are there, it just continues to grow better with every episode. The story is presented in a manner where the viewer is bound to be engrossed in the plotline. It is generously sprinkled with comedy, romance, action and palace politics. The lead pair had BRILLIANT chemistry.
The drama has high production value with large scale and nothing less can be expected from a historical drama of this stature. The OST is beautiful and melodious, it just falls in place with the situations and enhances the scenery.
Mr. Queen is jam packed with amazing performances and enticing star cast with a fascinating story line and has a high re watch value. It cannot and should not be missed.

High Bar for Story Telling and Direction
I was so skeptical to start this show for so long. The name seemed stupid and body swapping has always been dumb in my mind. Furthermore, the male lead seemed like a incompetent person doing illegal stuff in modern times so I refused to give the show more than 10 minutes of my time. But it really changed my perspective slowly and steadily. The depth of the show is hidden in its meanings. As a man it is hard to empathize with women often due to their need for lack of real world responsibility such as work and taking on risks that man take on a regular basis; however, as this time a man was on a woman's shoes it seemed different. With time the guy felt comfortable in her body and situation and started to take charge in situations even while acting as a man. And then I found out that actually a woman is not really different than us at least not too much. We have the same concerns and we would act kind of in the same manners.
As the guy merged with the queen as the episodes passed it seemed natural and when the leads fell in love it did not seem gay at all. This has to be one of the triumphs of K-drama in recent years. I can see the concept failing spectacularly in the hands of most directors. I have to praise the quality of the story telling and the depths of most characters in such a short drama. I often complain on how redundant most C-drama has become with filler episodes with nothing happening in between. This show really pulled its weight and will be a high bar for story telling and direction.

Amazing but not queer enough
Amazing story of a man going into the body of a queen. It sounds silly but I would say this is really a political show. The longer runtimes allow so many subplots and side characters that I love. I mean a love triangle that overlaps with 2 other love triangles is so genius and complicated I had to make a chart. The twists and schemes are crazy, it’s tense and even messier than any show I’ve watched. My only issue is that it’s not queer enough, it tiptoes around queer themes by never going any further than bromances and flirting. I mean he’s a woman and he likes woman so he should be lesbian but no let’s have him with a guy but not make it gay. It would’ve been less effort to just make it gay.Was this review helpful to you?

A masterpiece in Comedy and Body swap
Mr. Queen UNDERSTOOD THE ASSIGNMENT!! This drama is definition of addictive entertainment. The comedy, the twists, and the sheer chaos made it impossible to stop watching.Going into this drama, none of the main cast members were among my personal favorites and i didn’t know any of them except the ML. Usually, I struggle to stay invested when I'm not familiar with or particularly attached to the actors. But Mr. Queen completely changed that.. Without a doubt, it's the best comedy time-travel body swap drama I've ever watched.
The King and Queen are easily one of the most chaotic and entertaining couples in K-drama history. Every scene they shared was pure gold. Their chemistry, constant bickering, unexpected teamwork, and hilarious misunderstandings made them impossible not to root for.
What I Loved Most👇🏻
The QUEEN herself❤️ Shin Hye-sun absolutely stole the show with her acting. Her performance was nothing short of phenomenal. The Queen's expressions, mannerisms, body language, and comedic timing were executed flawlessly. She didn't just play the role—she became the role. Every scene she was in was a masterclass in acting.
The supporting cast deserves just as much praise. Lady Choi and the Royal Chef were the perfect cherry on top of an already amazing drama. They brought so much humor, and heart to the story that they became my favorite supporting characters. They're the kind of supporting characters you'll remember long after finishing the show.
What surprised me the most was how politically intense the drama became. Since it’s a Comedy drama you normally wouldn’t except such hard core politics and high stakes. I expected a fun comedy, but the writer delivered so much more. The royal power struggles, schemes, betrayals, and political maneuvering were brilliantly written. The balance between comedy and serious palace intrigue was handled exceptionally well that you never get bore. Every episode left me wondering what would happen next because the story constantly found new ways to surprise me.
As for the ending, I know some people weren't happy with it, but I actually loved it. The chef had to go back eventually, his place was in the modern world, not trapped in someone else's body forever. And So-yong deserved to get her body and life back too. Was I sad to say goodbye to the chaos? Of course. But the ending felt right. It was bittersweet, emotional, and the most sensible conclusion for both characters. Ps I have already watched it twice.

My top Drama
Mr. Queen is one of the wildest, funniest, and most entertaining K-dramas I’ve ever watched—and that’s saying a lot. From the very first episode, I was hooked. The concept is already ridiculous in the best way possible: a modern man ends up in the body of a Joseon-era queen. That alone should tell you you're in for pure chaos. What makes this drama stand out is how well it blends comedy, historical setting, and unexpected emotional depth. I was cry-laughing almost every episode. The humor is sharp, the timing is perfect, and the main character’s inner monologues had me wheezing. It somehow makes palace politics, power struggles, and gender-swapped identity crises feel hilarious but still meaningful.
Now let’s talk about the queen—because she is everything. I didn’t expect to become so obsessed with her character, but she completely stole the show. She’s bold, unpredictable, and absolutely iconic. I couldn’t take my eyes off her, and by the end, she officially became one of my all-time favorite K-drama leads. I seriously want her energy in my life.
The rest of the cast is strong too, with great chemistry all around. Every character brings something to the table, whether it’s humor, drama, or mystery. And while the show is laugh-out-loud funny, it also has layers that sneak up on you emotionally. I didn’t expect to feel so invested in everything, but suddenly there I was, emotionally spiraling.
If I had one tiny wish, it would be for a slightly different ending—but no spoilers here. Just know it was still satisfying, and I’d rewatch this series in a heartbeat.
Bottom line: Mr. Queen is chaotic, hilarious, and surprisingly heartfelt. 10/10 would recommend, especially if you’re looking for something totally unique and unforgettable.

Chaos, Courage, and a Body-Swap Done Right
This drama is fearless, ridiculous, and unexpectedly profound.Mr. Queen takes a wild premise and commits to it with absolute confidence. A modern-day chef trapped in a Joseon queen’s body sounds like pure chaos, and it is. But beneath the outrageous comedy is a smart, layered story about identity, power, and survival in a rigid world.
The brilliance lies in balance. The humor is bold and physical, yet never lazy. Comedy gives way to political intrigue, emotional depth, and moments of genuine tenderness without tonal whiplash. What starts as satire gradually transforms into a story with real stakes and heart.
The central performance is nothing short of extraordinary. Every gesture, line delivery, and emotional shift sells the body-swap illusion completely. The romance evolves in surprising ways, built on respect, partnership, and growth rather than instant attraction.
Visually rich and sharply written, Mr. Queen proves that a drama can be outrageous and meaningful at the same time. It challenges gender norms, authority, and tradition while never losing its sense of fun.
🔥 10/10 for fearless storytelling, iconic humor, and a historical drama that rewrote the rules and made it look effortless.

Drama blue prints are made of this
Mr Queen has everything that makes a drama; you will laugh until your belly ache, you will cry, you will get angry, you will have anxiety, and there is moments of disbelieve. This all is then rounded off with a bitter sweet ending. Nothing could have been done better! We are a firm believer that the cast made this drama what it is. No one else could have done a better portrayal of the characters. The OST is perfect. It's a drama we can binge watch everyday. If you love Joseon era and comedies, you'll enjoy this drama. What stood out for us was the storyline. There is none other like it. We hope you do give this drama a chance. It's the best binge watching you'll ever do.Was this review helpful to you?
