The writer of this drama has the 1% genius gene.

One of the best drama of this genre i highly recommend this drama. Every thing is perfect literally the story, the amazing plot twists no matter of how you think the story will go trust me its beyond what you’ve imagined. Their acting are spectacular the way how lee seung gi (jung barum) aced his role and how he and ko mochi delivered their emotions I literally stood and clapped for their acting and their performance. I recommend to read the comments after each episode and read the watchers theories that what made this drama so special and unforgettable.

XXX||my opinion with spoilers||XXX

I loved how this drama ended although it was sad and i cried alot but i knew there was no other ending that will end this perfect drama other than this they always make us sympathize with psychopaths its a k drama thing ⋆ᶿ̵᷄ ˒̼ ᶿ̵᷅⋆ and what i liked about this drama; they put the viewers in dilemma just to know who is the psycho i knew jung ba reum is the psycho from day one, also i had love and hate relationship with eobongi i love her acting but her role annoyed me sometimes also the other female actor the pd she had the worst role although I sympathize with her and i knew why she was like that but i despite the fact she left her family for 26 years while she knew they are searching for her. Other than those two roles i loved everything. I loved their bromance although it didn’t last long but when they work together to solve the case was the best teamwork. i loved the theories people made and how the writer made plot twists that wasn’t close to most of the theories. One thing that made me sad but at the end I understand why the writer did that; in the middle of the drama literally they where solving cases unrelated to the main point of the drama which is finding the psychopath and i was sad because i need progress to the story but there was hidden reason of why they took a long route just to understand and find the psychopath and i loved the plot twist behind it. They delivered a massage “the society makes us toxic not ourselves” This drama literally a must watch.

A drama ,for who are seeking for puzzles with story...

I have watched so many dramas but I never felt this much curiosity for every episode until end.. from the beginning you can say that how much the screenwriter lived through this plot.. story is unpredictable after 16 th episode one by one story will expose itself.. even though it will gives you goosebumps.. if you seek for good suspenseful thriller here is the best one.. this drama rated very well but it deserves more.. enjoy your breath touching suspenseful hours with a great drama.. thank you for reading my review..

Nothing's what it looks like.

It was fantastic and thrilling. At least the first half.
The story was good. It looks too obvious at first, you think you already know everything and may think it's boring, 'cause why watch it, when they tell us everything, but no, the things here are not that simple. You have to watch it, because nothing is what it looks like. Because of the twists and turns, it kept me in the screen all day, not to mention the OST (my favourite was that one with the organ), and the acting (especially Lee Seung Gi's, he was just fantastic).

But as we went on the story, and as we went nearer and nearer to the end, it became a little draggy. Things became more clean, the story became more predictable, the plot wasn't that dark and thrilling like before, the twists weren't surprising anymore. I suspected a way darker ending and deeper things behind all the happenings, and the last episode was just like they were in a hurry, and felt like they 'had' to answer all the questions in only ONE episode. In the last episode, things just happened one after another, like it wasn't whole, like they torn it apart to little peaces to answer all our questions and solve all the leftover problems, which they could've done better if they did it little by little maybe in the last 2-3 episodes.

And the ending - after I watched it, I just felt I really, really want to cry. It was unfair. I wanted something else. The person (I don't want to spoil) who recived the punishment, wasn't the same person anymore who DESERVED that punishment (if you watched the drama, you know what I mean), and it just felt so, so unfair, even if I know it was the proper thing to do.

After all, I gave this a 9, because I'm in deep love with the first half. It compensated me for everything they've done in the end. I've put this in my "TOP" favourites list, and it's possible that I will watch it again some time later.

Fairy tales are just a fantasy..

After so long, I found this underrated masterpiece. The casts did a great job portraying their characters. The writer gave us a thrilling experience throughout the whole drama. And left us a message. A message to create a better world. A message to let the world be a better place for us, humans.

Religion helps you to develop your characteristics, your morality. But why God made some of us like that? Enjoying to see humans being in pain, being in fear, being threatened to get killed? It's their fault. Their genes are like this. But circumstance also matters. If he could get love from his family he could've been a better human. But in society they're no better than monsters, an object for experiments, an object they can easily get rid of by just a simple voting. Humans can even kill them before they can see the light of the world. Actually humans are the real monsters.

Anyone with psycho genes can commit murder. But from Ba reum's character development, the writer gave us a hint that if he was loved by his mother for the way he was, he could have been different. But that's not the case. His family got killed. He didn't want to be a monster. He wanted to believe that Sung Yohan's brain was fabricating his memories. But they're actually his memories. He envied people for not committing sins. His ideology was that People who do not commit sins are sinners. It was actually because of his overall resentment toward GOD, As God made him a monster and slowly he was becoming that.
In food chain, animals who are at top slaughters those in bottom.
From childhood, we are used to hearing stories with moral teachings. What if we turn those stories in real life? But in a darker theme? with a murder concept? Those who've chose to follow God's teaching, who do not have those seven sins are sinners and are bound to get punished?

Being evil is not what you chose, the society made you chose that. You're a criminal's son, a evil person's son so you're also evil. That's the perspective of us.

The most affecting drama I have ever seen

I watch a lot of murder mystery dramas; I even listen to tons of true crime podcasts, so you know I'm able to stomach the content and find intrigue in the genre.

However, this drama was no average "whodunnit." This was a rollercoaster ride, from start to finish, and even though I was unfortunately spoiled before I started watching it, I was still surprised and intrigued at how the story unfolded.

This was a deeply human story. It really makes you question what right and wrong are. The basic question that started the first episode, aka "Can you predict a murderer before he's born?", isn't that interesting to me. The more interesting ones are: "Can a murderer change?" "Can you feel sympathy for a murderer?" "Can a murderer redeem himself?". These are the questions I was asking myself as we got to the second half of the drama.

::::::::::::SERIOUS SPOILER STARTING HERE::::::::::::

I think we got a really unique main character in Jung Bareum - at first, I loved how kind and bumbling he was. Then, to see him wake up with memory loss and become scared out of his mind that he may become a murder was truly heart-wrenching to watch. Then, to see him remember his true memories and realize what kind of person he was - that was an honest punch to the gut. It was so, so incredibly difficult to watch this transformation, and in less capable hands, he would have been more of a caricature than a truly captivating character. Lee Seung Gi completely outdid himself here. I have never been more compelled by an actor (the only other time was Ji Sung in Kill Me, Heal Me, another drama where the main character has conflicting personalities). I could not get myself to hate Bareum, even after the flashback scenes where you see how he had disdain for everyone and killed all those people in the coldest of cold blood. LSG does that good of a job at making you sympathize with his character. He was robbed of a Daesang for sure.

::::::::::::END MAJOR SPOILER::::::::::::

TLDR: If you're wondering if you should watch this drama, you should watch it if you like good storytelling, and even better acting. However, this is not a smooth ride. If you're looking for something to just pass the time, this is not the drama. If you're interested in thinking deeply and feeling deeply, then I would 100000% watch this drama.

A modern masterpiece.

This is an absolute masterpiece

I watched this drama last year. but writing the review now 😑
This drama is so underrated. I think every kdrama lover should watch this drama at least once. I always recommend my non kdrama lover friends this drama. Because I know they'll love it and they end up doing so.
This drama will keep you engaged till the end of the show. So many twist and turns. The story, the acting, the cast, everything is perfect. The best thriller drama for me ❤️ Watch it if you haven't already.

Is the TRUTH REALLY THE TRUTH or is it just built upon LIES? Truly, a Game of Twists and Deception

P.S. I'll first give a warning because this drama has themes of violence, abuse etc. that are not suitable for viewers who are sensitive with these tags... Furthermore, the plot gets darker as the story reaches its climax so if you're uncomfortable with this, then you can sit this one out.. I'll also try my best to give a review that will not contain any spoilers.. lol

To be honest, I cannot understand what I felt after finishing this drama, the emotions I felt at that time were conflicting... However, as I thought about the events that transpired from the beginning until the end, everything ended the way it's supposed to end... Some may find it bittersweet while others may find it miserable but it all depends on the viewers perspective... One thing I can say though is that punishment was served fittingly..

Hands down, Mouse relayed its story well with its deception and emotionally thrilling situations that surely captivated its viewers... A drama befitting to be the Best Crime / Psychological / Thriller Drama of the year.. **applause**

With its gripping start as it revolves around psychopaths : Who killed who?? Who is the real killer?? What are the causes of their psychopathic tendencies?? etc. - One would argue if the Truth is really the Truth or just simply built upon Lies.. As the story moves further, everything slowly unravels to the point where what everyone might see in the beginning might not be true in the end..

The main cast did a really great job in portraying their characters actions and emotions most especially Lee Seung Gi and Lee Hee Jon.. From start until the end, they bombarded us with an array of emotions : Anger, Desperation, Fear, Frustration, Guilt, Sadness, Suspense, Sympathy or Empathy and most especially, Pity...

The soundtracks used for the drama also fits perfectly with every suspense that cliff hangers gives us for each episodes.. Furthermore, the cinematography was befitting especially with the heavy and dark atmosphere of the drama.

There were some scenes though that happened in the series for me which I find to be questionable or unnecessary for it dragged the plot a bit but overall, the introduction, climax and episodes near the end were quite good since the plot flowed well.. Some viewers may also find the pacing of the story to be slow however, I actually see this an advantage most especially that this drama is focused on the complexity of the crime and we also get to see progress or good development of not just the plot but also the characters in order for the story to not be rushed..

In conclusion, if you're looking for a long watch that will surely give you a roller coaster of emotions, then this will be for you... Although, this drama is fictional, we also have to understand that all the things the character had done in the story should not be taken lightly for those things are happening in real life. Still, the societal issues tackled within the series regarding psychopaths or serial killers are important and should be taken note of...

Finally, I'd also like to share the last line mentioned at the end of the drama said by one of the main cast...

"Did the deity / almighty gave that as a punishment for him or perhaps a chance for him to be saved?"

Indeed, it's a perfect rhetorical question for a great ending that will surely evoke all the viewers to ponder about it...

Moreover, this drama reminded me of what Martin Luther King Jr. once stated, “You know how confusing the whole good-evil concept is for me.” “In each of us, two natures are at war – the good and the evil. All our lives the fight goes on between them, and one of them must conquer."

These lines said by Martin Luther King Jr. would best describe the character in this drama... Applause for Mouse for doing a great job in transporting viewers in the mind of a Complex Character : A Psychopathic Killer...

Why Is the Drama "MOUSE" is an EPIC drama?

There number of thriller movies and several dramas I have watched although they weren't all Korean, This drama hit the top of my watchlist of the this genre. The reason to watch this drama at first was the Actor Lee Seung Gi, but later I fall for the drama;
- the suspense
- curiosity (what will happen next? Who is the killer? Why? What? How?)
Several Questions pops while watching and also made me crave to watch more episodes.
I really want to thank the writer shower casing a unique story line like Mouse.
The reason that Mouse is better than other thriller dramas for me because no matter what new scenarios appear the writer never let us forget the beginning of the story and made every- small scene made more important later to remind our mind about the beginning, in my opinion there were no holes or empty scenes like other movie or drams i have watched.

The only thing made me regret is that I had seen few spoilers made less suspense and curiosity of the drama.

** Only advice is DO NOT WATCH ANY SPOILERS OF THIS DRAMA, IF U NEED TO WATCH IT, WATCH IT WITHOUT SEEING THE SPOILERS**

literally everything from the start until the end was amazing. no words could explain how well-written this story is. the music in this really played huge role to give the intense every episode. the way everything connected to the other is so impressive to me. the acting in this series was marvelous. lee seunggi really played his role a little too well. i couldn't imagine any other drama like this. the plot twists was absolutely mind-blowing. MOUSE really is the standard. the ending got teared up a bit. it was really really good. 100000/10. MASTERPIECE

I'm mesmerized by this drama. This was a masterpiece and I cannot think that I will be, one day, able to find a better thriller than this one. The pace, the plot, the flashback, the characsters, the PLOT TWISTS, the feelings...Everything was on point until... the last 5 episodes. It's only my personal opinion though I hated the biggest revelation. I do understand why it is that way and I should have seen this coming...The message behind it hits the right spot and all the understanding after that was awesome. I can't forget about it and I will rewatch it one day for sure to fully appreciate the drama. Maybe knowing what will happen will allow me to forget the feeling of "betrayal" I felt by the end of the drama. Loved all the actors !

The Writers are unreliable narrators.

I love Crime/suspense dramas. They are my favorite type of k drama. So when I started seeing promos with the great Lee Seung Gi, I was ecstatic! A dark and gritty crime drama with a sci-fi bent and serial killers sounded right up my alley.

I was really rooting for this to be good. I really was. It had all the potential to be one of the greatest crime dramas. It had all the right elements and ingredients. But the writers had other ideas. What it ended up being was a convoluted wacky mad libs narrative that creates its own plotholes and jumps the shark halfway through the series.

From the very beginning, you feel the writer's intent to try to fool the viewers. It is a thinly veiled attempt through chopped-up flashback sequences. I could already see where they were going but was willing to go along with it as long as they could make it make sense. I was even ok when they introduced the sci-fi element into it with genetics. It was like a precursor to the science seen in Gattaca; totally plausible for real scientific progression. At this point we're good, I'm still on board. Then what happens next is a sequence of scenes that try to dispel and debunk what you originally thought the flashbacks were telling you. This is also fine, new information brings greater complexity and mystery. But then they completely pull the rug under you and throw in a whole new set of flashbacks that completely contradict previously established facts in the story. In other words, they changed the facts of the original plot to fit an all-new reformatted narrative. It's like the writers decided halfway that their original plot twist wasn't good enough so they decided to rewrite the whole dang thing for shock value. Does it make sense? Who cares! It's shocking!!! Usually, it's a character that serves as an unreliable narrator, in this case, it's the writers themselves.

Basically, the writers lie to you.

It's like you got together to play a card game. The writers are the dealer. You're halfway through the game, the cards have been dealt and you've played half the cards already. The dealer then takes some of your cards and replaces them with random new ones. He tells you those were your cards all along. The writers gaslight the audience. This is not clever, It's lazy. This is not interesting, it's inconsistent. These are not plot twists, they're plotholes. It's a flimsy house of cards pyramid scheme. Luckily the only thing we've been scammed out of was our expectations and 20 something hours.
