The acting...

This was a painful episode to watch but it was meant to be. The actors did just a fantastic job. Very impactful. And it's refreshing to see a bl couple move past the honeymoon phase in such a realistic and natural way. Big props to everyone who worked on this show, seriously.

Roller Coaster of emotions again

This episode has all the flavors that the series has been loved by. It gave us the soft moments and funny moments and left was us speechless with the intense scene. Great acting performance from the two leads.

The Element of Symbolism

Aside from top-notch acting, for me, this is the best episode by far because of the well-written script. I originally commented this on Youtube so I will just copy-paste it here as part of the official review.I like how they prepared us for the final scene. This episode followed the element of SYMBOLISM. Symbol: The ability to control the camera. 1. Terrence moving the camera. 2. Wes moving his camera. 3. Pearl moving her camera. 4. Gav moving his camera. 5. Cai moving his camera. Motif: In the end, it was shown that they can express their feelings by controlling the camera; or a violent behavior by hitting the camera (by Cairo). Symbol: Liquid 1. Terrence offering Gav a shot. 2. Wes spilling his coffee on himself. Motif: The liquid can symbolize emotions they give to each other or to feel about themselves. Symbols -> Motifs -> Theme "SYMBOLS... give you a hidden language that emotionally sways the audience. Just as matter is highly concentrated energy, a symbol is highly concentrated meaning." - John Truby, The Anatomy of Story "MOTIF is a literary technique that consists of a repeated element that has symbolic significance to a literary work." "THEME is a lesson that you could take away from a story that is textually supported by the story." - Tricia Aurand In the end, it all boils down to the theme of this episode: JEALOUSY. When two people cannot control their emotions, then they might end up hurting each other.

Five Stars

The acting is great. You can see from their eyes, emotions, and intonations the emotions of each characters. Moreover, I understand both side's reasonings and why they think those ways. Gav is afraid of being left alone, especially from what happened to his past, while Cairo, on the other hand, is new to this type of relationship. He doesn't know what's up yet. This drama is also very realistic. Looking at what's happening in real world, you can see that situations like this happens a lot. That jealousy often results in anger and hurting each other. I can't wait to see the ending of this series. Now it feels like time is flying by so slow. I wonder how they will end this. Will Cairo move? Will gav follow them, will they stay together? I need to know soon. ゚( ゚இ‸இ゚)゚゚( ゚இ‸இ゚)゚

Highlight of the entire series

This was by far the best acted episode in the entire series. It felt like viewers were intruding in on their neighbor's domestic fight. These boys truly made the characters feel real. Kudos to them! The drama has been so great, but this was by far one the best episode I would even say in BLs this year.

INCREDIBLE

The whole episode is emotionally intense but that last scene just blew me away. Always liked Kokoy and Elijah’s acting but that scene showed me how incredibly talented they are. The way the conveyed their emotions was just so raw and honest and incredible really. I really don’t know how to talk properly about their acting, just that they’re amazing.

Best Actors of the year!?

Elijah and Kokoy was so good. Hands down. The last scene was a long without cuts and the exchange of arguments were intense. Both of them have valid points and but they were in their emotions.

Gameboys (2020) Episode 12: Jealousy in the Air

I was surprised that Episode 11 (rated 8.7 as of this writing) was rated so low compared to Episodes 1-10. While I can agree that it was a notch lower than Episode 10 (rated 9.5), I don't think Episode 1 (rated 9.1) was better than Episode 11. The problem was that people were judging Episode 11 with Episode 10 as the standard which I think wasn't really fair. But now that Episode 12: Jealousy in the Air has been released, I think very few will disagree that this episode is among Gameboys' best episodes. It continued to have a clear grasp of its context. The effects of the pandemic on relationships are real. It also remained true to its ability to make its audience experience a roller coaster of emotions. I got excited, I laughed, I got annoyed, I cried. The cute and sweet moments between Cai and Gav were really nice. Wes and Gav taking off their shirts was funny (Gav's sexier!!!). Wes was really irritating! I've long forgiven Terrence so Wes now infuriates me more. And that virtual shower scene was sexy and tastefully done. But the best parts of this episode were its two most dramatic scenes. One was tender while the other one was tension-filled. Both were really realistic and relatable. Kokoy was really good when Gav cried while having dinner with Cai. I choked up watching Kokoy's eyes. And of course the back and forth between Gav and Cai during the last scene was outstanding. I cried because that scene really reminded me of fights I've had in the past that ended my previous relationships. By a mile, Elijah and Gav's performance is the best acting by a duo in a boys' love (BL) series! You don't really see such range in acting from both lead actors in a BL series. I've seen around 100 BL series (Thai, Taiwanese, Filipino, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Korean). Oftentimes, one of the actors was really good but the other was just so-so. A lot of times, both actors were just easy on the eyes. But with Elijah as Cai and Kokoy as Gav, we got two high-caliber actors who are also easy on the eyes! By the way, congrats to Elijah for another Best Actor nomination (for the movie Kalel, 15) from the highly prestigious Gawad Urian (Urian Awards). The only thing I didn't like is the fact that there's only one episode left! I know there's a Gameboys The Movie but I'm really hoping for a happy ending next week. Cai and Gav deserves to be happy, and so do we.
