While most Boy's Love series tend to ignore the sexual orientation of the characters, by using the "I am not gay, I am just in love with you". But in the Gameboys and Gaya Sa Pelikula (also known as Like in the Movie), one of the male lead is proudly gay and the other one is going through the journey of self-acceptance. The series doesn't shy away from sexual attraction towards person of same-sex. The coming out and discussion of the sexual orientation with family focuses on the individual's identity as a gay person, as opposed to most BLs, which focuses on my son or brother's lover is gay.

If you were drawn into the story by the love between an openly gay guy and a guy who is yet to accept himself. If you enjoyed watching the love bloom in the middle of a pandemic, this a story you might enjoy. Instead of homophobic parents, it is the loss of a parent that makes the coming-out the process longer and painful for the main character. If you liked the weight given to the coming out in the presence of unconditional and loving parents, you should check out this other series.

The obvious similarity would be that both the stories are set in the middle of a pandemic. Breaking away from contemporary Boy's Love series, the show has both main leads being attracted to each other and developing feelings for one another. The chemistry between the main couple develops slowly and is beautiful. The Boys' Lockdown, driven by passion and desire, is lighter compared to Gameboys, where the leads seek solace in one another.

Similar concept between the two series using the lockdown caused by the COVID pandemic as the basis of their stories. The stories are told in a video chat type format and quality, where the audience Is watching the video conversations between the two characters.

The difference is the Gameboys series is one long story thread about the blossoming friendship/love between the two main characters. Whereas Quarantine Stories are 10 distinctLy unique short films that have no storyline connection between each film in the series.

Acting in Gameboys is just as good as that of in Theory of Love. And that is rare for the BL genre. There are moments in the series where you feel all sorts of emotions. Ep 12's final scene is very intense and it shows the acting prowess of the leads.

Gameboys is similar to Theory of Love because of the BL theme. Also, both series are primarily focused on the two main characters who at the onset do not have reciprocated feelings towards each other but later on they will.

It has similar format/concept (using virtual conversations). Also, it's one of the few first Filipino BLs getting popularity this year.

Same creator. A spin off of Gameboys, Some of the cast such as the male leads would take cameo in the show. It also has similar themes as love during pandemic and the use of video calls and social media as interaction between the characters.

A boys' love series from the Philippines. A romantic-comedy series that centers on the main couples' struggle as they understand their own feelings.
