Poor Gav T^T

I felt really awful for both of them in this episode, but the last few minutes... I just felt terrible for Gav. As someone who relates a lot to Cai, this feels like a very realistic turn of events. I wish Cai would communicate better, but at the same time can't really blame him too harshly because I think I might do the same thing. It was hard to watch, knowing what was gonna go wrong and it being completely unnecessary. Hope things get patched up in the next episode :)

Heartbreaking

This is one of the most heartbreaking episodes The plot was simple but very relatable. They introduced a perfect antagonist in the form of Terrence. The last scenes showed the acting skills of Kokoy and Elijah was also very good as a support.

Trust and Truth

You should never trust someone you just met... Cairo, sweetie, I thought you know this, you were suspicious of Gav in the first episode, weren't you? You should have look for answers from Pearl if you couldn't ask Gav straightforwardly. But that's okay. That's why I love you, Cairo. You just totally showed me how much the same we are, and it might not have been good the way you dealt with things, a person like Gav who loves you will forgive you.

Brilliant writing

The manipulation at play in this episode is well-done. Kudos to the script and also to the team for executing it well.

Wow! Great episode.

Kinda late watching Episode 5 due to some work stuff over the weekend. Ugh!Anyway, this was by far the best episode of the series. It has shown the depth of the acting by the main characters especially for Gav and Cai. I think Terrence is the seemingly innocent "third party" to the main couple, but I believe he has sinister motives (maybe he wants Gav back?).The online "breakup" scene was heart-wrenching. Looking forward to the next episodes.

Gameboys (2020) Episode 5: Trill of the Chase

The. Best. Episode. Of. The. Series. So. Far. I don't even know how to react to Episode 5: Thrill of the Chase. The episode had it all. There were happy moments but there were (really) sad moments. The episode was an emotional rollercoaster for the viewers! Acting in this episode was really good. Even with all his shirtless scenes, I still hate Kyle, which only means he's an effective actor. I just hope in the coming episodes they'll be able to explain why he is who he is. Adrianna continued to provide the funny moments. She's an amazing actress. I especially like the namedrops (Alden Richards and Catriona Gray) and the shade ("Has the curve been flattened?"). Kudos to Ash, the screenwriter! His screenplay throughout the series is consistently realistic and relatable. I love the Ariana Grande mention. Elijah had a very solid acting performance. I think a lot of boys can relate to his tentativeness and uneasiness with regards to relationships. But it's Kokoy who certainly gave the best acting performance in this episode! By the end of the episode, I just wanted to hug Gav and cry with him. The best thing about this episode was its ability to present the complexities and difficulties of online/virtual relationships especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. It's reflective of the anxiety and paranoia experienced by people in these kinds of relationship. The technical aspects of the episode like production design, musical score, editing were all good. My only problem with this episode... I have to wait another week for the next episode.
