Extremely sweet and I freaking love Pearl

"We will get there, we're in no hurry."This was healing to watch. As someone who is very similar to Cai, it's amazing too see how Gav appreciates him and what he appreciates him for. We often struggle to see our own value, and it's incredible when someone else sees it within us, but also scary. I'm so proud of Cai for apologizing, and for standing up for Gav in this episode. The ending scene just goes to show how strong their trust has grown."I'll stand by him against anyone. Even you."Gav has some fantastic lines. Terrence is a real butt. Trying to force Cai and Gav to have a very private conversation on the spot, with him there. Dude just chill.

Young Love

This episode not only showed how much Gavreel really loves Cairo but also how Cairo even he denies it, he truly cares about Gavreel. The chemistry of the cast, even with the inclusion of Terrence, is very strong.

Confrontation?

One of the best episodes with Cairo's splendidly done apology rap and that question at the end... another cliffhanger that tortured almost all viewers. The confrontation was a much-needed scene, and thank you, Terrence, for initiating it. Although I was slightly disappointed with Pearl here, especially on the confrontation scene--- but it's not her, it's me... I just want a catfight scene... well, a longer one at that

Tension and Conflict Resolution

The peak of the series' conflict so far, executed with a very seamless technical hand. Storytelling continues to improve, and the actors' ranges are now being challenged.

Bonnets and Sock Puppets

Some of the things I love in this episode:1.) Cai wearing a bonnet. I find him cuter this way more than him wearing the headband. Speaking of headband, I now realize that it was not the thing per se that I don't like but his hairstyle that goes along with it. While I don't like his usual headband coupled with butterfly hairstyle, I actually think he's hot wearing that same headband when his hair had that wet look and brushed up. Ugh! Go figure. haha2.) Cai's apology. After a series of "matalinghaga" (mysterious) steps that Gav had to go through, in the end was the "apology show" courtesy of Cai. It is kinda "baduy" (uncool) but I think that was what they were going for. More than the silly puppets, it was heartfelt and sweet. Love the rap! After many episodes, I really liked the acting of Elijah in this episode. He seems more mature already and showed more depth to his performance beyond the usual frowns and "paawa" (pitiful) effect. I actually liked Elijah's acting more in this episode as compared to Kokoy who was more sublime in here. Kudos!3.) Pearl! We gotta love this spunky girl. She talked some sense to Cai for saying those awful things to Gav. I also liked that scene where she is showing off some "bisexual" vibes. Ooh lala! However, during their group videochat, I found some of her actions to be a bit over the top. I mean considering the seriousness of the discussion, did she really have to act and say those things? I found it distracting. Anyway, still love her. 4.) Online confrontation. It felt like a virtual version of those conflict reality tabloid shows wherein complainants and respondents vent out their anger and whatever other feelings they have for or against each other. Terrence may be a cutie but he's a manipulative and pathetic "ex" who still had the hots for Gav. Pearl was right. Ang haba ng hair ni Gav (Gav has long hair) - a Fiilipino euphemism for one who has many admirers. Can't wait for the next episode. Hoping that Cai will say YES. (but we all know it can't be that easy right?) hahaha

Gameboys (2020) Episode 6: Secret Party

Episode 6: Secret Party was extra cheesy, but still cute and sweet. The episode delved more into Gav and Terrence's past relationship as well as Cai's personality. Gav was even more adorable in this episode, if that's even possible. While I still hate Terrence, at least this episode provided us the reason for his machinations. Part of me actually felt sad for him. As for Cai, I know a lot of friends like him so I totally get him. It's always hard to say you're sorry especially if it's your fault. Kudos to him for his effort! Pearl continued to be the slay Queen in this series. Obviously, the "confrontation" was the highlight of this episode. While the Screenwriter and Director did enough to avoid a super soapy scene, I still found it a bit awkward. I guess it's one of those scenes that's difficult to convert into a virtual setting. Unlike Hello Stranger, which has a lot of money that enabled it to acquire permission to use actual names of e-mail, social media, and social networking services, Gameboys had to invent their own versions of Facebook, Instagram, Gmail, Zoom, etc. to avoid infringing on the trademarks of these companies which I found really amusing. Elijah likes to rap. He writes and sings his own rap songs. He did that in one of his previous movies. He also wrote the lyrics and sang the OST "Angel of Peace" for this episode. Not my type of music but if that's what makes baby Cai/Elijah happy, then I'm happy for him. I prefer the other OST "Pag-asa," also sang by Elijah. The cliffhanger for this episode was my least favorite. I would have wanted this episode to end with Cai giving a definitive answer, that would have provided an even more exciting wait for next week. Anyway, only four episodes left! Let's watch again next week!

Scattered Tones and Short Development

I feel the ending song for Gameboys Episode 6 was not a good choice for an intense scene. It ended on an intense note which would've made even better if Cai just said YES. But I guess they have to use the song somewhere and as I figured they're gonna play out the issue until Episode 7. I hope they just don't scrap Terrence's character right away if they plan to show him this long.

I also thought the confrontation was too quick? I would've loved if Terrence kept his cool for a bit longer. We need a confident antagonist that doesn't get riled up so easily cause he's the one who's supposed to be doing the riling up. Pearl didn't honestly dig her nails hard enough to push that kind of reaction from Terrence, which is just an opinion from me.

The tone of Episode 6 was a bit scattered tbh. Left on a sad note on Episode 5, could've shown a lil internal struggle more from Cai. Then happy notes then intense notes at the end? It's like a heartbeat monitor gone awry. I hope they pan the scenes better if they make it per episode, because watching it with no cuts continuously is like you're watching an ordinary Filipino film.
