A Masterpiece Lakorn!

So... it has really ended... i was never ready for it to end but I must learn to let go.

I’ve been planning to write a long detailed review on this lakorn but unfortunately I’m at a loss for words. The only thing that I keep repeating whenever someone asks about this lakorn, is “THIS IS A MUST-WATCH LAKORN”

This lakorn is such a rare gem, a masterpiece, which means we rarely find lakorns like this. It’d be such a waste if we decide not to give it a chance.

Seriously, for those who haven’t started watching this, I can only say “just start watching and you won’t regret!”

Trust me. My Thai friends told me that this lakorn had done good both in ratings and online views, and I can see why. It attracts attention nationwide, even without much promotion from CH3 (I really don’t understand why CH3 treated this lakorn dirty, when it has the talented and powerful Nadech Kugimiya as the ML!).

The ONLY downside of this lakorn is, 13 episodes are not enough! We need more! Lol

Rewatch value: 10/10 (I even rewatched it when it was still ongoing, only to kill time while waiting for the next episodes!)

P/S: if you ever feel stressed and down during this pandemic, yes! This lakorn would definitely be a great help to bring you into a world filled with sunshine and happiness!

Endearing Slice of Life Lakorn that Deserves a 2nd Season!

"To me, It's Simply You" is one of the Thai Lakorns that I wish they would make a Season 2, as it was a truly well-done "slice of life" drama. What makes this series appealing for me is how well the show depicted the everyday experience, the recurring themes of friendship and family, the struggles of daily life, and the stark portrayal of the good and bad sides of human nature. Though primarily character-driven, the plot is still crucial, and in this show, the main characters' little and large struggles and triumphs were well written, executed, and acted.

To pull off a great drama without relying on a dramatic or extraordinary storyline, casting is the most essential ingredient. After all, the characters drive the story, and the cast must be good. Not only do the actors have to portray their characters accurately, they also need to work very well in tandem with everyone else. This excellent rapport is necessary for the cast to produce a seamless, touching, and most importantly, relatable story that keeps the viewers engaged and wanting more. Without a doubt, this show totally delivered! The entire ensemble was so fun to watch as they interacted with each other and dealt with life in general, living in the same village. The script was funny, often low-brow, and the sexual innuendos just kept coming, but I found it hilarious because the dialogue reminded me of how my friends and family would converse in real life.

Nadech and Bow have a wonderful and easygoing chemistry. It is a treat to watch them as the main leads, Kiew and Chompoo, as they find love, navigate through relationships and deal with heartbreak. It is my first time watching Nadech, and I am impressed to see him in such a role. He appeared comfortable playing a comedic role, and I never knew that he could sing. Nadech did a great job as Kiew, who moved to Bangkok from one of the villages in Northeast Thailand (or Isan) and lost touch with his roots. I enjoyed watching Kiew's character development as he assimilated back into the Isan village way of life, like lapsing into the local dialect and appreciating the food as well as the traditions and beliefs. It was endearing to see his family and friends tease him as they welcomed him back. Bow was so lovely as Chompoo, our intelligent, determined, and incredibly stubborn FL, who, unlike most Lakorn FLs, was also very calm and self-sufficient. It is so nice to have a nang'ek who can take care of herself and value her self-worth and pride. It was so CUTE when Kiew and Chompoo started flirting with each other - Chompoo, usually almost tomboyish, getting all girly and demure, while Kiew acting all awkwardly shy. Bow is so naturally beautiful, and when paired with Nadech, it was good looks galore.

In addition, the show stylist deserves kudos - the clothing and traditional outfits were practical but attractive at the same time.

It was also refreshing not having annoying nang rais who constantly scream throughout the show. Even though there were unrequited love and love triangles, the people involved were realistically more rational. They experienced the usual doubts and hesitation that tempered the crazy behavior that one typically expects from a Lakorn. Best of all, the show emphasized respect and the value and importance of friendship.

Finally, to top it off, the soundtrack was so heartwarming. The music was mostly traditional but very fitting and set the scenes and moods perfectly. I was not expecting the show to be a partial musical, but the way the show wove the songs into the story and have the actors sing them captured my attention and evoked my emotions appropriately. Enclosed below is the link to the OST list, but I also included another link to the adorable love song that Bow and Nadech sang together.

Overall, I could not recommend this drama more. It really is a charming story with actors who can deliver while looking good doing it. I am surprised that the viewership is so low given the star power of Nadech. Not knowing how well this show did in Thailand, I hope that Ch. 3 would do more to promote it. It deserves more exposure for sure!

THE BEST LAKORN IN 2021

You all have to watch this lakorn. It's so good!IT'S A REAL GEM?
The story, the music, the casts, the chemistry (ohh you have to watch Nadech and Bow's chemistry!) is amazing!!

Ok I'm very excited to introduce this lakorn for those who still hesitate to give it a chance:

1) The story is simple, nothing grand about it just a pompous city boy who return to his hometown and starts to adapt to the village life. But,there's a reason behind that.....want to know? watch it! Nadech nailed this character and he can sing, dance and act silly too. Kiew's character is not your normal heroic type.He has his vulberabilities that you can relate too.

2) The female lead is Bow Maylada aka. our Chompoo❤️ . She is lovely, strong, dependable and love her farm so much. All the villagers respect her. She is Kiew's nemesis but she's actually loves Kiew since they were a child. She's the one who helps Kiew and she's also can sing, dance and she has her weakness that made me cried too?

3) The songs are too entertaining you are going to be addicted listening to it! Even if you don't understand Thai! It's so fun and will make you smilee alll dayy!

4) The villagers, their families and friends made this lakorn so charming and so beautiful. The communication among families, the light chit chatting aww so heart-warming.

5) THE CHEMISTRY IS TOP NOTCH YOU NEED ANOTHER LAKORN WITH THIS PAIRING!
Do watch it if you would like to experience sweet love ?

It's so sad that this lakorn has ended but it's short&simple story is totally enjoyable and makes you fall in love with village life too. Like me?

A light hearted drama with some comedic elements that doesn't cross the line of overacting. I usually don't watch country style lakorns but this was part of my watchlist and I finally got to it.

As a longtime viewer of Thai drama's, finding a good light hearted drama that doesn't fall into the melodramatic extremes can be a bit of a challenge. Thai audience's have become accustomed to the slap kiss style drama's with nang'rai and p'rais. A lot of lakorns set in the country either have a very poor script, acting or substandard filming. While this wasn't a high budget lakorn; with the set being only a few locations, it was still an enjoyable watch.

STORY

A classic story about a man/boy who goes back to his hometown after heartbreak and finds love in a childhood friend and appreciation of the land and the value of hardwork. The first 6 episodes were a bit slow but it picked up pace and the cute scenes started to appear. So bear it for the first 6 episodes, while they weren't bad, they were a bit slow.

ACTING/CAST

I haven't seen Nadech act in this style of drama before so it was a change for me to see him in a light comedic role without any fantasy gimmick. He came close to being a bit overboard but didn't quite cross the line of overacting, after a few episodes he settled down and his performance became stable. He had great chemisty with all the support staff that played his family and him and the FL were a good combination.

Bow played a very convincing portrayal of a tough country girl, her accent and the comfort that she spoke the dialect made me wonder if she was really born in the Isan region. As a Australian raised Thai-Lao, the Isan dialect was something I could relate to; as it is very similar to something my relatives speak, so it was nice to understand it with only a bit of help from the subs.

Support staff did all their roles very well without any weak performers. They were given a framework, character setting and they executed it to the extent that the script allowed them to.

Both Nubtung and Danny who play Richie and Namfon need a main role in a drama. They both have the visuals and I can easily see them playing the nang'ek and p'ek. I would have loved to see their storyline developed more with better scenes.

MUSIC

I actually didn't expect the music to be so good and was happily surprised, after episode 6 they even had musical performances like a badly lipped synced MV but was still good and added to the light hearted elements of the lakorn, I wish they had more of that and started it a bit earlier as I am a sucker for musicals.

REWATCH

While I wouldn't rewatch this again like Husband In Law or My Forever Sunshine (Highly recommend),I did rewatch a few of my favourite scenes especially the cute romance scenes. I am drawn more to Bow and her performance than to Nadech.

Overall a great watch, I recommend watching this finishing something heavy to give your heart and emotions a rest.

Chemistry is explosive

Bow and Nadech are so incredible in portraying their characters as villagers of the Nong Bang Kang Yan, their chemistry is undeniably lovely and you can feel it once you watch it. The OST make you feel wanna dance around and it stuck in your head everyday, i tell youuuuu, yesss. 13 episodes feel so short because the story is so engaging.

Lesson learnt from this story is to feel grateful of what you have because they are the things you will cherished the most. To always be humble and never forget your roots. Be it in the city or your hometown, appreciate because everybody is working hard to earn money.

One of the best from Nadech and Bow! Hope they are up for another lakorn in future!♥️♥️♥️♥️

Recommended!

This is the first review I've ever written for a drama. I'll be as honest as possible.

This lakorn caught my eye because it had a different theme from just typical romance. I am also a fan of Nadech, and have never watched Bow act before, so I wanted to give this a shot.

Story: Good. The character development was amazing, and I could really feel the emotions of the story.
However, I'm a little ashamed to say this but I nearly stopped watching early on because the plot development was slow in the beginning, and only began to pick up a few episodes in. The story was initially a little confusing because they put many dramatic scenes without much explanation or backstory, and I was left scratching my head why everyone was so emotional. This does get better later on, fortunately.
Also, the conflict resolution felt too short and forced, which is why I was disappointed that it ended at 13 episodes. I think it definitely could've stretched to at least 14 or 15 episodes with more time for Kiew and Chompoo (the two leads) to talk their feelings out. As well, I feel like they went all out on the lovey dovey scenes the first time around, and the second time around felt unconvincing. This is probably also to do with the fact that it was only 13 episodes. The pain...

Acting: Very good! All the actors, even the support actors, felt very convincing in the portrayal of their roles. I also believe that Nadech probably had to put in less effort for this role because his character development in this Lakorn is sorta similar to one of his self-directed films: "Mr. Peter's Project." (If you haven't watched it yet, I highly recommend watching it as well!)

Music: Amazing! From the upbeat songs to the romantic ones, they all sound so good even if you don't understand the language. I listened to the lovey dovey one that Nadech and Bow sang on repeat for a week!

Rewatch Value: I found myself rewatching both the cute love scenes and the funny scenes when I was waiting for next week's episodes to come out, so I believe this has high rewatch value. I probably wouldn't rewatch the whole thing, but certain scenes are soo funny and romantic that I would definitely rewatch those scenes to laugh or smile at.

Overall, I highly recommend this lakorn because it's just so different from what typical dramas offer and once the plot kicks off, you can't stop watching until you finish. Highly recommended!

Really leightweight Lakorn which is funny!

I first bumped into this Lakorn by stalking Nadech's profile on MDL (like I do regularly with my favourite actors/actresses) and actually disregarded this Lakorn as it ,at that time, hadn't been published yet. Later, when I read the article " To Me, It's Simply You: From the Heart of Isan " by Cho Na I became quite curious.

And I definitely was not disappointed!

Not only do we learn more about more environment-friendly agricultural methods, but learn more about the Isan Thai people and their culture.

The ML played by Nadech is quite a funny crybaby character that, along with the other characters, goes through quite a character development. The FL is a tough, all-rounder, capable character that has a leadership role in her community and stands for the good. Their close friends go through their own little crises and the 2nd male interest, who is also one of the friends, adds a nice touch of comedy to it.

Overall, the drama is really lovely, as we get to see many different dynamics and relationships and also learn more about the Thai Isan culture. It's heartfelt and could be described as a love letter to the Isan Thai people and region. The many funny moments, which most of the time are goofy and should not be taken too seriously, add a nice amount of lightness to the whole drama.

Criticism:
- few plot holes and plot lines were left open
- scenes can seem a little too goofy or "overdone" that it is more cringy
- you will probably, at one point in the Lakorn, will be totally done with the ML and or the FL, because of their personality and behaviour

Also, the dance sequences are the best!
I'm just saying the planting song, the cucumber song and the multiple performances! You will definitely catch yourself humming the songs or doing the dance moves more often than not.

Spoiler : (Kindish kept it pretty rough so that it isn't directly a spoiler, as i don't really specify on things )
Ep 11 The long-awaited confession had me on an emotional rollercoaster. Teacher Rick is playing with our feelings, and it's an up and down, within a few minutes.

Sweet and Real Story

I am from the country side in PH and living in the city now. This lakorn made me feel at home. I miss my home and can't go back due to travel restrictions brought by COVID-19. This is my first time watching Bow and I'm hooked. At first, I'm so annoyed with Kiew but learnt to love him as the story goes. I really enjoyed the musical and the way Chompoo loves helping the community. Also, I find it funny how she talks with the gecko. Her facial expressions are too cute.

This is a must watch story. You can learn a lot of things. You will appreciate love, friendship, being a good citizen, honoring your parents, helping each other and many more.

LOVE MON RUK! MUST WATCH, FUN!

I love MON RUK, and you should watch it! It's a story about the farm life of villagers. It's so funny, and nice to watch.

Story: I love the storyline, very easy of a watch. It's enjoyable, funny, and cute.

Acting/Cast: The acting is spot on! I can see everyone had fun, and put their 100%. I love this! It's so fun to follow everyone's stories!

Music: LOVE LOVE LOVE the music. It was so nice that it made me move my shoulders up and down and side to side. So fun sounding. And for the other versions romantic, and soothing. The music was perfect!

Rewatch Value: I'd love to rewatch. It'll be fun.

Overall: I gave this an 8.5 because it's average. I love it so much. I think this'll be a cute one to pick up. You'll be singing and dancing along with the drama! It's so fun, watch it!

Love this drama so far

This drama is such an incredible , they poryrait their character specially nadech. He is the the reason why i watch his drama. But it comes so so good , The Music are really to good in this drama , the story explained it very well to all viewers and i must sy that this drama made me impressed and best of all. Rootingfor them for for drama.

This lakorn is a rare jewel, a masterpiece, and we seldom come across lakorns like it. It would be such a waste if we didn't give it a shot.

Seriously, I can only say to those who haven't begun watching this, "simply start watching and you won't regret it!"

Have faith in me. My Thai friends told me that this lakorn had received a lot of positive feedback in terms of ratings and internet views, and I can understand why. Even without much advertising from CH3, it draws national attention (I'm not sure why CH3 handled this lakorn so badly considering it has the skilled and powerful Nadech Kugimiya as the ML!).

10/10 for rewatchability (I even rewatched it while it was still on the air, just to pass the time till the next episode came out!)

Excellent !!
