I just binged on this yesterday. I was all for seeing another bad a** female fighter! It's about doggone time!! Korea needs to portray Korean actresses better than they do. I grow tired of the cliche sappy romance from a love sick, stupid, and poor actresses. I do believe that's not what Korean actresses who portray ordinary females are like.

My rating for this quickly dwindled by the 8th episode. Once again we have the boy hates girl motif but then all of a sudden he turns out to like her and then they have this fling and then something stupid happens because of love. Ugh....I HATE HATE HATE dramas like that!! It ruins the whole atmosphere. I didn't see anywhere where there was any type of romance in this which was another reason why I eagerly watched this.

I liked the female lead. I'm always for a Korean actress who's tough as nails and take no junk. She was relentless to the end!

This story hit home for me because it's something that happens in real life which happened to me last year. The scenario is different but the turn out was the same. The plot was all about revenge and it didn't stray. I did get confused by the 'who dunnit' factor because of what was said in the last episode.

I'm glad this only had 8 episodes. I don't think it would've been strong enough for the usual 12-16 episodes.

Will I watch this again? Most likely no. I do love action though but this won't hold the same feelings if I watch it again. Maybe somewhere down the line I may watch it again. Maybe.

If you're looking for action then this is the right place.

The action scenes in this series is really good. And the background music just hits on point. Soo Hee ofc nailed her role.

Plotwise the story is pretty much predictable. But if you see this as an action drama, it delivered it. There was enough blood shed to make me happy.

Park Hee Soon is a great actor. The dynamics between Moo Jin and Ji Woo was well written. Ji Woo riding her bike was a great pleasure to watch. I loved each and every scene of her bike riding.

Also I didn't want Tae Joo to die. May be end up in hospital but not dead.

Overall it's 8/10 for me.

Amazing & Must Watch.

If you like revenge drama you should see My Name.

The Plot is very similar for a revenge drama. But the performance of all casts especially Han So Hee is great. The Action scenes was great.

I loved the performance of Park Hee son as Choi Mu Jin. He was the perfect villain till the end.

Ahn Bo-hyun as Jeon Pil-do was the perfect partner. His death was unexpected but for the sake of drama it was needed. It fuelled the urge for revenge of Yoon Ji Woo.

The transformation of Han so Hee from the Nevertheless's Na Bi to Corporal Oh Hae Jin (Yoon Ji Woo) is just magnificent.

The soundtrack is also great.

The best korean series of 2021 so far

I was excited for My Name when I heard it would be directed by the same person who directed Extracurricular and boy did it not disappoint me. I watched all 8 episodes in one sitting and by the end of it my emotions were so chaotic and all over the place and that's why i loved it.

Likewise to Extracurricular, the characters in My name are morally ambiguous and its this ambiguity that allows for the plot to avoid the cliche route. If ever there was a point where I thought I had figured out something this drama somehow managed to destroy every assumption and make it even more interesting.

I absolutely loved Jiwoo, she was badass and intelligent without the need to be arrogant.
And can we please take a moment to appreciate the acting! Literally in Awe! especially Han so hee. Her whole scene in episode 6 made me feel like my own heart had been pulled out of my chest and i cried along with her.

Action/Thriller Romance

This drama was worth of waiting the story was awesome Han So Hee's acting was really good and the fight scenes were also super cool and blood was every i love this. Getting to the middle were Ahn Bo Hyun comes in that was also really good.

And Lee Hak Joo again did a good job at his acting i find him really cool when he is acting in action/thriller. So coming to the and i find the scene where Ji Woo and Pildo are fighting ey not really fightning Pildo want to stop her to leave and cuffs himself to her that a good scene and the after coming scene is the best worth watching but nearing to the end i really felt heartbroken when Pildo dies in was i really sad scene for me.

Please give many love for the drama "My Name" and please give many love for the actors and actresses.

Great Action teamed with compelling story

My Name is a brilliant take on Action/Thriller involving gangsters, a woman seeking for vengeance and the hunt for the mole. The action sequences are done superbly and Han So Hee did a tremendous job with her part.

Clocking at only 8 episodes, My Name is shorter than other K Dramas, but it is definitely filled with amazing action and outstanding OST. It felt like every beat matched perfectly with the given scene, which made the overall show compelling and worth watching.

This Netflix original was good for its story, the attractive OST, the great casting along with commendable performance by Han So Hee, amazingly shot sequences with more than decent fight/action sequences and an overall violent atmospheric setting.

My Rating : 9/10

How the majority of MDL feels about Squid Game is how I feel about My Name

I loooove watching a mediocre drama where you'll know everything before the first episodes ends. By episode 1 you just know where the story is gonna go but it's also supposed to be an epic thriller action revenge story. I'M LIKE WHEEEEREE IS THE MYSTERY? And don't even get me started on all the plotholes (even my highway has less holes than this drama).

So much makes no sense, just no sense at all. Ahn Bo Hyun's character was initially very suspicious of Jiwoo. He was like wooaw she sus, I don't trust her and literally one second later he was threw everything out of the window. Pildo truly went like YEEEEET I trust her now because she got hurt. Somehow he magically didn't hear another character revealing her identity but he was like BIBBIDI BOBBIDO BOO u got hurt so now I trust you.

AND OMG I'M TURNING AGAINST NETFLIX MADE KDRAMAS (while I used to be a hoe for them). All because of once again a fucking useless stupid sex scene. Like this ain't it sis. Why is Netflix suddenly like let's make our kdramas more like western shows? But it even gets worse since the DUDE LITERALLY DIES A FEW MINUTES LATER. Why ... oh.... why...?? I literally fastforwarded when I was like they're about to do it. I normally don't care about movies or shows including sex scenes BUT IT MAKES ZEEEEERO SENSE HERE so I was like I'm not wasting my time on this shit. My friend told me that the creators decided to put this scene in it as a way to show Jiwoo's humanity. But there were literally a bazillion better ways to show that. Besides, they alreasy showed her humanity so much. Jiwoo is in a gang but has never killed someone until one dude from her past past, who she bested in a competition which troubled his fragile masculinity so he tried to rape her by drugging her, and she only shot him because he was about to expose her. The very same scene where Jiwoo killed the dude, did she became haunted by what she did. She literally was in shock about killing him. Furthermore, she also saved a girl from a drug overdose and protected her, only fought people and kicked the shit out of them if they started it or didn't let her peacefully pass, etcetera. She could have hurt so many innocent people but she never did. Besides, she was already determined to not kill her surrogate daddy before they (Pildo & Jiwoo) were like oeeehh lalala. So to me it was very unnecessary. I've also seen other action shit that was western and was like let's show a killer's humanity without having unnecessary sex scenes. Even a kdrama about a hitman showed that hitman's humanity without whipping any dicks out.

Besides, Pildo also died so fucking funny. I literally got tears in my eyes from laughing. He was like van I'll be by your side, which already had me like lol no you won't, and I KID YOU NOT ONE SECOND LATER AFTER HE SAID THAT A FUCKING MOTORCYCLE CAME UP TO THEIR CAR and just shot him in the head #HEADSHOT. I mean how predictable was this?

I also have to repeat how there was no mystery element in this show. If I already know where this shit is gonna go before the first episode ends, you have a serious issue with predictability.

However, in the beginning of the show I did like some things. I initially liked her beating up all the guys and winning against every odds (I mean unrealistic but I still loved it. I mean John Wick is also a tad bit unrealistic, but I still love that and she is basically sort of a female John Wick) but even the amazing fighting choreography got boring after a while since that was basically the only good thing that was left. It couldn't save the show.

Also, the most badass bitch crime lord is like YOOOOOHOOO I'M HERE YOU CAN KILL ME! He literally made it so easy for her to kill him and we're supposed to believe he is an epic ruthless crime lord that has been able to escape the law for 16+ years. But he is literally brought down by a 23 or 24 year old girl who was on his side for the first five episodes or so. I understand somewhere deep deeeep deep down that Pildo's death caused her fit of rageeeee. What I do not understand (not even deep down) is that she literally walked into surrogate daddy's crime den a few minutes after Pildo's death WITH ZERO PREPARATION. She was all by herself and just fucking slaughtered everyone the came in her path -__- Jiwoo also has a lot of wounds that haven't really healed but none of these wounds were a hindrance to her beating the shit out of everyone.

I'm still not over how easy surrogate dad made it for Jiwoo to kill him. The crime edge lord wasn't even trying to make her his successor or like him. He was just like ..... I have a death wish without really having a death wish but I still make everything super easy for her and the worst thing is.... that the crime lord was literally the second person she killed.

I'm still mad about the sex scene man. Like Nevertheless didn't do the deed like Squid Game or My Name. In Nevertheless it was like very much a sex scene that could have been in riverdale or shit. To me it just screams Netflix' influence on my name.

Also, Han Soo Hee is good at action scenes & one emotional scene when she finally found out the obvious was really good. But girl literally burns her gang tattoo of and literally was like dead inside WHICH IS FUCKING UNREALISTIC! There was no indication of pain (as in tears in her eyes, wiggling or any facial indication, or pain sounds) just an empty look. I mean only if you have that rare disease of feeling no pain would you be able to do it because even though you're numb because of emotions IF I FUCKING STAB MYSELF IT STILL HURTS AND BURNING IS EVEN WORSE. Even more unrealistic is how the wound also didn't get infected or gave her a fever (veeeeery like truly a representation of real life). I dunno if that's bad acting or bad direction but me don't likey.

However, a plus was like the father-daughter relationship she had with her dad's killer until he was like I don't want her to kill me (I'm a ruthless man, I killed my best brother, hurt other people like I'm smoking my cigarette #veryunbothered) but I will make it very easy for her to kill me. He did not even feel remorse for killing her dad or lying to her about him being the killer. He even whined about how unfair it was that everybody he cared about betrayed him wheeeeheeeee sad face sad face. EVEN SOMEONE ELSE ON HIS TEAM WAS LIKE DAFUQ BITCH. She was like you're letting her go so that she can come to you but you're not really gonna do anything to stop her but you don't want to die either?????????? Besides, his right hand man literally wanted her dead from the moment she joined the gang because he knew the truth and was like this can only end in disaster. So yeah surrogate daddy's character makes no sense at all. He's really wishy washy. At one time he even wanted her to go into hiding but later on he's like I'm not gonna let her kill me BUT YOU GUYS CAN'T KILL HER EITHER. He also got her out of jail. I'm just confused and mad. SK has better stuff to offer than this. There are so many better revenge stories out there.

Also, Ahn Bo Hyun really needs to pick different projects. He never ends up happy. In Itaewon Class his character was just miserable, in her private live he was the second male lead and didn't end up with the girl, and if Yumi's Cells ends like the webtoon he'll be alone once again, and here he died. Dude needs some chill (or his characters at least do).

Go watch strangers from hell or something else because my name ain't worthy of any trophy.

View it! You will never fall asleep!!!

Very good acting all , the story is complicated but everything is clear (but not simple) in the end..Female character is very well written, man's characters are less deep. I really stayed completely astonished during the screening. Good thriller.

Indeed an Action Thriller!

Honestly watched this for Han Sohee (Jiwoo) and she didn’t disappoint at all! Her acting was topnotch and she was able to portray every bit of emotion that was needed for her character. I was also pleasantly surprised with Park Heeson’s (Choi Moojin) acting as well! He nailed that badass gang leader character and was also able to portray his character’s depth as well.

The series was also well filmed. They did a great job with setting the tone for each and every scene all throughout the series. The action scenes will also leave you wanting for more! Han So Hee really did a great job performing all those stunts.

The only thing quite unfortunate for this series was that the story was quite predictable especially if you have watched a lot of noir gangster movies or series. It was especially the case for me as I already had a hunch right from the earlier episodes on who was the killer. Mostly because the premise of a gang leader taking someone under his wing to ‘supposedly’ help fulfill their revenge is quite common in my opinion.
The unexpected romance was in the end was honestly quite a surprise but it doesn’t necessarily mean it was bad. Especially if we’ll try to understand Jiwoo’s character wherein she finally met someone who knew the other part of her but nonetheless still believed in her until the end.

Overall, it was still an enjoyable watch for me and I didn’t mind the predictable plotline because they still managed to execute the story in a unique way.
It indeed lived up to my expectation of it being an Action Thriller!

Enjoyable, but not groundbreaking.

Realistically speaking, I knew where the plot was going since episode 2. I did not mind it and I was ready for an exciting ride. While it was entertaining, the show lost me a few times.

Plot wise, I’d say that’s the glow-up I enjoy watching - when with a new hairstyle come deadly skills and not rich boys. Yoon Ji Woo’s story is quite a chaos filled with questions: who did what, why and what will she do about it? We follow her on the journey of discovering the truth behind her father’s death, which became her sole life mission. Observing her trying to fit into two completely different worlds - crime driven gangs and justice and revenge driven police, made me binge watch the whole show in one sitting.

Honestly speaking, none of the characters had true depth, nor novelty to them - I’ve seen them in similar stories. You know what the characters will do, before they do it. That said, it does not take away from the entertainment value. Action genre was never a plot focused deal for me, I just want to get my blood boiling with fun fighting scenes, countless backstabbing and revenge. My Name delivered in these aspects fairly well.

The strength of Han So Hee’s performance were her physical abilities - the fighting scenes looked really good. We could see her using the skills she learned at the beginning throughout the show. While she nailed the action, some of her emotional scenes fell flat and I could not connect to her character.

Park Hee Soon served us an outstanding performance. It’s not often for me to feel bad, or rather feel anything towards a character like Moo Jin. For making me feel things, I thank Hee Soon.

Production wise, it’s Netflix, of course it’s good. Personally, I didn’t like some of the editing, especially around the training and the undercover beginning - it was too much too fast. There were also some weird choices made by making the camera go out of focus in some scenes.

Truly enjoyed the soundtrack. Just a few notes made me feel excited and ready for some bloodshed. They perfectly supported what was happening on screen, elevating the overall quality.

So, what did not work out? Not enough backstory of Ji Woo’s father. We did not really get to see him do much, either in terms of his daughter nor his work. Some flashbacks here and there are not enough for me to understand why he was such an important figure in so many people’s lives. He was the catalyst of the whole plot, but at times I didn't quite understand why.

Some turns the plot took were truly ridiculous and brainless. “Okay, it makes no sense” was the only response I could give. Some plot lines - unnecessary. I hoped the writing would emphasize more on the internal conflicts Ji Woo felt - girl was dealing with a lot.

The ending was so mediocre I could not stop myself from feeling disappointed. It’s not an open ending, but since they did not really explain many aspects surrounding Ji Woo, it felt like it. The plot is finished, there is not much that could potentially be explored in another season, so what now? Why couldn’t they give some proper closure?

Overall, I loved the fighting, the connection between Ji Woo and Moo Jin and their dynamics, the visual aspects of the show and the performance. The writing could be a bit more polished - cut some parts out, develop some more. Would recommend it if you feel like watching an action flick and want to be entertained. If you are looking for more, you might be disappointed by the plot.
