This is a beautiful movie about a victim of rape and how she goes about in life after the incident shakes her world through and through. Despite her wanting to live life leaving the past behind, the incident haunts her again and again and ruins her life. How she bears through all the obstacles, failed suicide attempts? How society treats her? Plus more such situations leaves a lasting effect on the viewer. Maki Yoko-san has acted brilliantly to portray the character of Mizutani. The story has many elements to it, hurt, pain, penance, forgiveness, youth mindset towards women and up to some extend it also sheds some light on the manner in which the police's and journalists' behaviour. There is a certain depth to the story which is beautifully expressed. But at the end of it is a tale about how a victim and the victim's perpetrator live together under one roof both willing and to some extent happily.
