A steaming pile of wasted time

I have no idea how they managed to make a drama this bad. It's the worst drama i have ever finished. Don't waste your time on this.

About the only thing I can say is that at least there was revenge but it was sloppy and slow. I hated everyone by the end. The writing was SO bad.

I'm trying to avoid spoilers but the ending was open and made no sense. I had such high hopes, but this devolved into arrant nonsense.

There was no OTP by the way. The relationships in this were a huge mess.

Yup It's a revenge but draggy revenge lol.

I absolutely love the female lead and her badass roles in the drama! Some people are annoying yeah the villain is never lost in every drama. You can encounter in this drama an infidelity of friends to the enemy. Two men quarreling over with a woman, quarrels between husband and wife because of jealousy, using each other. And most of all to get revenge for her family.

There is a chance that the characters are annoying sometimes. But it will resolve at the end. But for those who want to watch revenge tags this is not the thing for you! This drama is lack of potential in their tags of revenge!

If your like me watching while airing, you want to watch the next episode so you don't get hung up. You can just say "Can't wait for the next episode to air!" But if you wait until it's over Owss Okay go binge watch it! But you'll be bored for 100 episodes and then you'll watch the episodes one after the other, well good luck to you.

I'm looking forward to each in every episode while I'm watching this and I was thinking that Hopefully Eun Jo / Ga Heun's revenge will be successful in the end. Hopefully the bad people who hurt her will be punished and learn from what they did wrong. The drama gets draggy but in the end it will continue to be a revenge. I'm assuming that FL won't kill anybody because of a different strategy for his revenge will be used but ..... and yeah I really enjoy this drama. Gonna give this 8.0 for the over all. Thanks to the cast and crew who made this drama. Until next time!

AVOID - Unless

My personal opinion of this Drama largely agrees with the overwhelming majority of reviews here - it's unwatchably bad. I actually found the first 20 or so episodes to be in the ":so bad it's good" category, but overall, it's just bad. I got though it to the end only by watching on 3X FF - hooray for subtitles! That's why I said AVOID - unless...

Unless you like makjang as a genre. It is VERY easy to mock the genre, and a glance through my feed will show I did just that throughout my rapid watch of this Drama. It was fun to take screencaps of some standout absurdities, and the amusement derived is a big part of why I finished it. But the genre has its fans, and the fact that a Drama like this one was made in 2021 shows there's still a market for makjang.

The other reason I stuck it out to the end was the performance of Lee Da Hae https://mydramalist.com/people/44919-lee-da-hae as Ju Se Ri. Her character was completely OTT even by the Drama's standards, but Ms Lee rose to the challenge of making it clear that the character believed her own story. Her facial expressions in particular were impressive, showing a much greater range and variety of makjang madness than the main villain, played by Choi Ye Jin, who was the main reason I started this. It seems fitting that of all the villains, her character has the 'happiest' ending.

So even though I'd never recommend watching this, I salute the professionalism of all involved - hardworking actors and crew who clearly gave their best to a 5-month project

Waste of Time

One of the worst revenge drama that I have ever watched. I have high expectation on this drama from the very start that I have watched the trailer. As I have started the drama, I was really really disappointed on how to story goes on and on. This story lacks the conventional elements of revenge. Actually, the title's name is so catchy but will deceive you for the 100 episodes to make the viewers annoyed and draggy. Most episodes are only 70% fillers and an empty shell. I also doesn't like the cast they choose except for Ha Joon and the veteran actors the parents of the characters they act better than the main leads. Miss Monte Cristo should have been better if they have cut off the episode for 30 episodes only. What's the point of the suspense tag if it's really that predictable? They should have choose Yoon Ah Jung or Seo Woo as Eun Jo and SoYi Hyun as Oh Hara... they chose the too typecasted cast they should have given a chance to other actresses!
The things that I am disappointed with Miss Monte Cristo:
I don't like how they made Sun Hyeok be that cowardice
I don't like how they made Eun Jo dirt her hands by making Se Rin's father die
I don't like how they made Eun Jo weak and getting obstacled by her revenge because of Sun Hyeok and Hoon
I really hated the most when seeing Hwang Ji Na die in the middle episodes! It would have been better Hwang Ji Na didn't have dementia and kept alive to see Ga Heun returning back as Eun Jo and witness how Byung Gook and Eun Hwa was punished by the law
I am really disappointed with the story ends like living you in a cliff hanger where Eun Jo is going to be investigated
The ending would have been proper if Hwang Ji Na is still a live and Eun Jo chose to be single rather than being with Sun Hyeok oppa... how weak :/

Exquisitely made BUT VERY SLOW. Worth skimming over or very quickly binge watching.

I like that in this drama the main female lead is able to inflict actual, serious pain against her enemies. When this drama gets serious about revenge (which it isn't always), it does some serious damage to both FL and her enemies. Otherwise, the drama is WAY too long for its lack of creative content.

The ending is also strange, although I can say that -- without spoiling anything -- that it is better than many other revenge drama endings. You definitely won't be expecting it.

Overall, worth a rapid binge watch.

The writer is just really really really bad...

Goddamn! It turned out to be even worse than I thought. The drama had a decent production value and had Lee So Yeon & Choi Yeo Jin as leads so I had a tiny bit of hope but not long after few episodes I was met with a disappointment after another. Both male leads were the weakest part of the cast, might as well bring random dudes from the streets to act. I can't take Choi Yeo Jin for an evil role. I'm way too used to her goofy vibes in other dramas. I could have cut the atrocious writing some slack if the ending was passable which unfortunately it wasn't. The last 10 episodes and the ending proceeded to deliver the ultimate disappointment. One of the laziest bullshit endings out there. The writer opted to press the reset button after we have gone through 100 episodes! It's unfortunate how the drama turned out to be because I was looking forward to see Choi Yeo Jin as an antagonist.

Not worth the watch

Just so there’s a clear understanding... Revenge is served very cold, hard, ruthless and relentless...this drama lacks that in every aspect. Episode after Episode gets further away from it original intent which was revenge. The very few highlights in no way make up for its overall failure to produce.
The FL gets lost in her emotions from the start, clearly not seeking revenge but restoration and constant tears... only thing angry and revengeful was her stare which accomplished nothing.
This drama is a simi- payback, petty and somewhat ridiculous in its execution. The Antagonist OhHaRa should have been the Protagonist Eun Jo.
I’m very disappointed that this drama is poorly written and has no clear direction after 71 episodes, not one enemy has fallen, every antagonist is serving up a great deal a nefarious dinners, which the weak, whiney, wishy washy protagonist eats every dish served from their wicked platter ..
unfortunately the difference between payback and revenge is very apparent here.
I in good conscience cannot recommend this drama, I’ve seen way too many excellent ones, watcher beware don’t expect much .

Average Performance, Poor Script

No amount of celebrity fame could have salvaged this poorly-written drama.
For a story with an art theme, this drama is quite the opposite, lacks insight, no character depth, and petty plots, as if written by a bitter 8th grader who failed high school. Real art takes research, details, insight, and depth.
It is quite surprising that it was actually turned into a TV drama when there was nothing to show but the fashion runways.
The fashion is up to par, but there was no story to tell.
The episodes were monotone and repetitive; no realizations, no transitions, and full of childish backstabbing that you see among kindergarteners. The story contains zero art. The only thing that's interesting about this drama is its title which did not deliver. The actors did their part quite well. No matter how good the acting, the lack of story in this 100-episode drama does not leave a mark and has no value. It should not have been produced. It's a disgrace for a Korean drama.

This was a hot mess in a very bad way

2021 seems to be all about revenge, infidelity, amnesia and rising from the dead🤦. This drama, I can't even begin to explain this drama and the train wreck that it was, so much so, that I skipped episodes and didn't miss a thing.
This is not a revenge drama , this a an emotional FL that cries all the time, if your giving payback you do it Harley Quinn, Joker style, laugh about it while your destroying their lives☺
Don't waste your time. If your really bored with nothing else to do, don't waste your time on this one no matter how bored you are just don't even bother with this one

The entire drama is overall good as expected for a daily drama. the acting is fairly good. the story is draggy provided that this is a 100 episode drama. but the story line is orderly. I find it quite acceptable.
But don't expect a lot from this drama. pretty much a so so. the characters are messed up mental people with no ounce of guilt. and there is the victim going in a revenge rampage, she becomes wild at the end (which is understandable).
But no matter what I can't agree with the ending. usually dramas like this tie up the loose ends at the end, being 100 episodes drama and all. but I find that the ending slightly dissatisfying.

if you want to be not recognizable wear Sunglasses XD XD

i have watched this drama because i like revenge genre and a strong female lead.
but, i really don't know where to start this drama was waaaaayyyy tooo long for no raison! The production team played with us i don't know if they were out of ideas or what!
First, the flashbacks were too much, the part where eun jo fall was repeated almost 20 times, an event has just past moment ago after that they repeated it as a flashback -_-
second, to get to the point they made it too long and add a lot of useless parts, you have to wait almost 20 episodes or more to get to see eun jo coming back, I was going to drop this drama but i keep watching just to see where are they going with it, the best episodes are the final 9 episodes (- the last one it was bad ), more than the half of the episodes are fillers, i was exited to see the revenge then eun jo turn beck to be a softy i don't know why they did that then she go back to be evil.
Third, the parents in this drama are here just to cry, give us lame comedy, faint or do commercials -_- , there is a lot of bad acting Cha Seon Hyeok acting was really bad and his character is annoying, the females are good i liked serin and oh ha ra acting, eun jo was good too, but the production was bad the scenario was bad there is a lot of flaws.
This drama has a lot of potentials but bad execution, 100 episodes are too much, they could have minimize the sum of the episodes and focus more about the main story and the production, the revenge part was good but they kept out hopes high for no raison -_- i am so disappointed :(

Unsatisfied justice

I really enjoyed the drama but the ending had me feeling some kind of way, because they made the lead into a bad person in the end.... if they wanted to give a realistic drama, they should have done so in the beginning... it was unrealistic that they were all able to accurately guess what their enemies where planning... we saw ko eun jo go through so much loss and pain throughout the drama.. I really thought they were preparing the audience for a grand revenge ending where ko eun jo gets to win all round.
I go for makjang dramas mostly for the sweet justice that comes in the end... because the world that we live in justice is not always served.... i just wasn't as satisfied... death is the easiest way out of committing heinous crimes like they did in the drama
