Watching this made me want to fall in love!!

I don't generally write reviews but watching this drama made me want to do it for the very first time. I don't want anyone to miss out on this lovely drama!!!

The synopsis was pretty appealing so I thought I'd give it a try. So I watched the first episode and was like "what's this? It's terrible! So much overreacting and overreacting". The only redeeming quality in the first episode was the ML who's just absolutely lovely: a tsundere heir to a company? Go Ayano plays the role so perfectly!

I was wavering as to whether I should continue watching but then I decided that I'd watch two more episodes, mostly because I wanted to see more of the ML.

And I'm really glad that I did because it's such a beautiful, cute and lovely drama!!! There are so many cute scenes in it and watching it made me want to fall in love with someone. I absolutely loved the chemistry between the FL and ML. You could say that the drama kind of has an old school K-drama vibe at the beginning, but it develops into something very different later on (something only the Japanese could pull off). As someone who's grown quite tired of K-drama romances, I found this drama very fresh and delightful.

After watching episode 3, all the overacting (in the first episode, especially by the FL) started to make sense - it was all part of the plot! I was shook! The ML is an absolute darling and I found myself screaming "from where can I find a Rintaro-san???" many, many times. At the beginning I didn't like the FL at all. I found her high-pitched voice super annoying too. But I gradually warmed up to her after realising that her overacting was necessary for the character she played.

The FL's big secret is revealed to the audience in episode 7. The revelation is so beautifully done that I couldn't help but tear up a little. From the beginning, the audience (just like the characters in the drama) will keep wondering about Nagisa Mio's true identity. This is open for interpretation and it makes the drama even better, in my opinion!

There was another plot twist in the drama, apart from the overacting part. At the end of episode 8 (the last two minutes) a certain "incident" happens. I'm not a fan of makjang so naturally I reacted by thinking that this part was unnecessary and too dramatic, and sort of forcefully "jammed in" by the writers to create an artificial climax in the story. But I had judged too soon!!! When I watched episode 9 I realized that the two minute part wasn't makjang all! I was shook all over again!

The final episode was absolutely beautiful and I cried and smiled simultaneously. The ML looked particularly droolworthy in the last few minutes of this episode.

The special "reunion" episode was beautiful too, especially the last couple of minutes. I love how we get to see the growth of each character (although there were too many flashbacks for my taste). I absolutely loved how the writers had portrayed the way Mio communicated with Rintaro during her absence: the seashells! It's just too adorable! And is it just me or did Go Ayano really look so much like a delicious snack in this episode?

Overall, I absolutely loved this drama. Everything about is just lovely and cute: the characters, the messages, the conversations, the subtle plot twists, and the love story too, of course. I guess it's time to go and re-watch my favourite scenes now~!

"Koi wa Deep ni" is a poppy, offbeat romantic comedy with fairytale vibes. Ishihara Satomi is perfectly cast as Mio, a bubbly and passionate oceanographer who is easy to adore, but has a few secrets. Ayano Go is a little more surprising (but totally enjoyable!) as Rintaro, the tsundere businessman with some baggage. Both do a really good job with these characters, bringing them to life despite somewhat cliche character development (but those cliches are inherently a part of the storytelling style). Outside of the leads, most of the supporting characters feel underdeveloped, especially Eitaro and Aika. There's a lot to say about the writing of this drama - it's definitely not what I expected when I initially read the synopsis! It's quite unique (and to say more would spoil the drama itself), but it's that unique quality that makes it fun to see how it all kind of comes together. I wish the pacing could have been a bit better, especially at the end, but I was totally emotionally invested in the main characters and cheering them on, so I guess it worked? ;) Definitely would recommend this drama to Ishihara Satomi fans - she's just so enjoyable in romantic comedy dramas, and this one is a fun one. :)

恋はディープに

恋はディープに is a love story which is played by the popular Ishihara satomi staring Mio, an oceanographer at Shibaura University of Marine Science and Technology, she is very interested in the ocean with the fishes and the sea. Even though she is always cheerful smile and kind, good-natured personality, she is reticent about her family and past. Rintaro comes to her life one day a guy who is very rich from a wealthy family, at first he is very rude to Mio and is very hard for him to become friends with anyone. While Mio wants to protect the ocean and opposes the resort’s development. These two people who seem as if they live in different worlds, meet each other over the project and eventually fall in love. It was lovely to see satomichan in this drama ♥ I love her personality!

This drama is almost perfect for what it was

So first and foremost, this drama is really good. The pairing of Go Ayano and Ishihara Satomi is good as well. Their chemistry is really great. This drama is worth watching and it offers mixture of emotions: happiness and sadness, which is one of the factors of a romantic-comedy drama that I am looking for. Despite all of those things, there is still a minor flaw regarding to the drama such as some cliched scenes in some episodes. One is the cliched character development of Rintaro from being not caring to the nature to being caring to the nature and from being rude or mean to being nice but those cliches in his character development doesn't bother me that much at all.

Anyway, that is my say in this drama. Still looking forward for tomorrow to finish the SP version of Koi wa Deep Ni.

Poor Dialogue

The story itself is good, they're giving you views like why we should care more about our environment. But, the actings from the actors/actresses ruined everything. It's cliche in too many ways and even if you tried so hard to get attached to the characters, in the end you just couldn't. There are too many scenes where things should be romantic but turns out cringey, though I admit there are touching moments too. And the female lead is way too annoying even though she's trying to be cute. I'm sorry, I'm a dorama fan myself, and I love Satomi Ishihara, but this dorama definitely not one of her best.

Love you so deep and waiting for you no matter how long.

My favorite Japanese drama this year!! I love the story.. It's very meaningful and romantic fantasy.
I love the chemistry between Ayano Go and Ishihara Satomi.
Both acting are very excellent! They can laugh while seeding tears, and almost in every episode they make us laugh and cry.
It begins with the competition relationship in the office, and slowly make them realize their fate to love each other deeply and understand each other feeling even without saying it.

The male lead is a tsundere, and the female lead is naive yet very pure and sweet. You will be surprise with the fact of who is she in the second half of the drama. There are some plot twist too to make you surprise.

I love the chaotic situation between the 3 brothers and how they can fix their relationship in very touching way too.

This drama is very simple, but it thought us a lesson to protect the nature, and love the sea as there is so many living creatures in the ocean. It's a successful hidden campaign of global issues due to lots of plastic used in daily life that human throw not in the right places, and even it goes to the sea and give a very bad impacts to its ecosystem and living creatures under it.

The drama ost is not really impress me. However I love the instrument music that they are using during the dramatic and romantic situation. It's brilliant!

I hope there will be another season, or the special movie as the continuation of this drama. I can't get enough to see the love story of 2 couples in this drama.

Learning to Appreciate, Forgive and Love Deeply. + Preserve and Protect our Oceans!

I will never get tired of saying how heartwarming, inspiring and genuine Japanese dramas are. They always got this magic in their crafts that will make you so emotionally attached to it no matter which genre you are into... I guess they just understand human emotions and feelings the best, huh?

Right off the bat, I wanna say that this drama felt restricted... Like they could've added more to it but chose to limit it for some unknown reasons. I probably got used to heavily plotted dramas but I just know when something is needed or not and I would say this drama could've been more eventful and exciting if they added little more tweaks to its overall plot.

I badly want to expand my thoughts about this drama so please allow me to share some of them.

Plot - Overall plot is good but improvements can still be provided left and right. I feel like they got caught up with other side plots (3 Brothers affairs) and consumed lots of episodes that should've been focused on our main leads; does making the story vulnerable to plot holes and felt lacking in terms of story progression.

Twist - I always feel like there's a missing piece when it comes to this drama's overall story structure. Like, something is inadequate and it could've been better if they give more 'drama' to the FLs character. I mean, she's a mermaid and they could very well expound onto that to make it more interesting and exciting, at least.

Editing and production... I got serious problems with this, honestly. Most of the time, I felt like they were throwing sequences randomly to the point where it just doesn't fit at all. God knows how many times I find it weird that a scene or two are being included in a completely unrelated moment. Which are very awkward to me!

Chemistry is a perfection for me— aside from the fact that Ayano Go and Ishihara Satomi look equally beautiful and handsome; there's just more to them that's beyond our eyes can see and perceive. Something that can only be seen when you indulge yourself on the way they carry themselves into their roles. Their Drive and Passion to be 'in-character' is insane!

Color scheme, texture and mood - I was in genuine peace while watching and appreciating this dramas beach scenes. I just love how fresh, tranquil and cozy it made me feel as viewer. Very relaxing and accomodating.

Second Couple and 3 Brothers Plot - Both are really interesting to watch and I'm just glad they didn't add anymore dramas to the 'Brothers' plot cause I feel like they just had enough. LOL! and I'm also satisfied on how they wrap things up for the 2nd Couple. No more escalated dramas and rather ended it in a more mature and receptive way.

P.S. I feasted so much whenever Ayano Go's acting giddy, nervous and child-like. It gave more colors to his character and I just find him super cute and adorable during those scenes.

Story - 9.0, I wanna rate this drama higher but I just can't ignore a lot of missed opportunities they could've took advantage of to make it more eventful and dramatic. + The awkward and misplaced sequence editing made this drama stood out like a sore thumb for me.

Acting/Cast - 9.5, Main Casts, specially Ayano Go and Ishihara Satomi were such a stellar actor and actress. The way they execute their roles emotionally made me admire them a lot and will tell you how invested they're in their respective characters. The only disappointments I have are with the supporting roles who acts ridiculous and simply baseless. Like they were added for plot twist and nothing else.

Music - 9.0, I only heard 1 music in this drama. Well, aside from the casual melodies and sounds used to set the mood and to add color to the scenes... So, I'd say they could've added more but for me it was just enough. I wasn't bothered and never felt like it was lacking.

Rewatch Value - 8.0, It took me 2 years to finally watch it and I wanna say that it deserves the wait. Hahaha! I never feel like watching it again honestly. I was only here for Ishihara Satomi but I'm just grateful to have finally watched it because I got to know Ayano Go in the process.

Overall - 9 0, I have a lot 'what ifs' for this drama and up till this moment, I still feel regretful that the director didn't fully utilized the set of spectacular actors they got to make this drama great. Not to mention how lacking the script and how random the editing was. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed watching this story and I appreciate the warmth and passion it gave me.

Entertaining as a story, not so much as a romance ?

Was excited to watch this show for the casting of the main leads. The show seems to present a unique love story, however the love theme seems to be added in awkwardly at certain times. The theme of saving the ocean, and marine life etc. seems to be fighting for screen time alongside the romance sprinkled in. While the actors portrayed their roles well they definitely have done more compelling roles. Somehow in this drama they seem to be selling themselves short, it really feels like a simple cash grab. The music was phenomenal (as excepted of “back number”) and many times through out the show where the story failed to deliver convincing emotion; the piano pieces in the background helped pick up the slack. Probably the thing I disliked most was the, abrupt episode endings, clearly added in just for the sake of trying to insert a false sense of danger, into the show. While I won’t consider this a bad dorama I wouldn’t consider it a good one either. Definitely wouldn’t rewatch it as both these actors have acted in way better dramas. However if your like me and just can’t get enough of both these actors go ahead (the kiss scene was pulled of in great taste); however if your just looking for a good dorama I would skip this one.

An unexpected turn that left a bad after taste

I want to start with the thing that i like first; ishihara satomi's smile. Even though she usually played a bright, happy go-lucky role, i esp noticed her smile in this drama. It's so blinding, i cant even. Also i like the environmental awareness this drama tries to bring in unique light.

Ok, moving on to things i feel lukewarm about; the acting. Ishihara's acting is, as expected, top notch. I could feel her love to ocean, the connection between her, her insecurities, her happiness, it's all up her face. Ayano Go's performance, however, felt a little bit bland. Not bad, but bland. For me good actors are divided into two; those who are good playing the character, or those who embodies the character wholly. Ayano matches the first category. This is not a bad thing, however, i expected more since i love him in MIU 404 and this series is called Koi wo Deep ni. Its about LOVE. And i dont feel none of that between the two of them.

And then things i dont like, the story. Seriously wtf? When Nagisa kept talking to the fish i pegged her as another quirky japanese drama heroine (because there are A LOT of them who did weird things, like nodame for nodame cantabile for instance. I would NOT like nodame if i watched her in my age rn) but then it turned out... I'm watching a fantasy romance drama? And not an oceanographer x CEO drama? This is the reason why i dropped this drama. BECAUSE EVEN THO I SAW THE TWIST FROM A MILE, IM STILL SO SHOCKED BY IT AND NOT IN A GOOD WAY. more like in "wtf did i watch" way.

There are also, a lot of ANNOYING characters in this drama. Like for instances Eitaro the deadbeat brother. Or that youtuber who kept pestering Nagisa. Or the hikikomori researcher who kept suspecting nagisa. Why are the annoying characters HAVE to be annoying all the time? Is it because i dropped the drama too fast? Should i just went on to see the silver linings of these characters???
