Wow, stunningly bad writing to the bitter end

If you wish to see some of the best actors in Japan acting the hell of some o f the shittiest scripts you will ever see, then this is the show for you.

For most of its run its meant to be a light murder of the week mystery show, and you might find maybe the first 7 episodes endearing as such; however, even there most of the scenarios and "solutions" to the mysteries happen because the writer says so and not particularly because he planted clues that would result in the kind of satisfactory resolution that is de rigueur in these kind of shows. And ALL of the recurring characters are idiots accept Anna (Hirose Suzu) and a friend, Tomori (Hashimoto Kanna), she makes early on. Almost all of the rest of the characters are played pretty much as comedic buffoons. I mean, maybe Maki Yoko's Mizuho and Tomita Miu's Kaoru are not buffoons, but SOMEONE has to provide the the exposition and deus ex machina that the wretched writer has to rely on to progress the plots such as they are. Even the head of the detective agency played by the legendary star, Eguchi Yosuke, who is supposed to be this retired master detective never actually solves anything throughout the series and only exists to do some tepid fight scenes which are meant to bring some action to the series but only occur because the writer wanted there to be a fight scene at that point in the script.

The tone of the series arc which is hinted at in all the all episodes and resolved in the final episodes entirely contradicts the lighter tone of the earlier episodes, and nothing about that arc makes sense. Things like Anna being set up throughout the series as a genetically modified supergenius are entirely ignored by the writer in the (anti)climactic final episodes mostly because he only has a passing acquaintance with intelligence himself.

I'd say skip this series even if you are a stan of the greats like Hirose, Eguchi and Maki and the goods like Arashi's Sakurai Sho,

..I'M GOING IN *whoosh~*..

..after Your Lie On April, this is the second time I watch Suzu Hirose's drama act..

..comedy, action, mystery, all in one - every minute, worth it..

..the funny part for me is where the revealing who the criminal is - since they are the tandem (Suzu and Sho) - so better to watch how the process is going - kinda creative for me..

..plus having Kanna Hashimoto on the casts is a plus. . .and also better to see some of her movies and drama too (my another crush on my list hihi)..

..love this drama too..

Genius female detective

The story revolves around the cases surrounding Nemesis detective agency, with its talented assistant Anna, the brain behind the detective puppet, Kazama. The key elements of detective drama, like cool protagonist vs. another cool antagonist, handy detective gadgets, scientists, recurring characters as support, and the “best buddies” could be easily found, which made the main mystery predictable but still interesting. The cases on the earlier episodes are also good, if I would to choose, my favorite is the first.

Each characters are also mysterious and it’s fun to predict their real role in the story. I’m expecting that Kazama would be useless as a detective without Anna, but he’s so much more than a comedic character, although he is truly funny haha. Hirose Suzu is also fun to watch, and she’s so cute on curly hair. Her nemesis, which I’m not going to reveal, performed so well. I’ve seen them a lot with similar role, and I have to say they really have niche on being a dark broken character.

When it comes to detective drama, good OST is a must! And yes, Nemesis passed this criteria. The opening theme is stuck on my head even now, and while watching drama the music did a good job on setting the mood to whenever what is happening. Plus, they have an episode involving rap music, so you’ll see Suzu and Sakurai Sho rap! The producers really know how to satisfy their audience, cause I’m so hyped by that single scene. If you understand basic Japanese, you’ll know they made the lyrics so catchy and well rhymed. That legendary scene is something I’d rewatch at 3 am lol.

The thing is with detective drama, it involves crimes which could have a bitter aftertaste so if you’re not used to Japanese detective shows in particular, I’d recommend watching another genre you’re more comfortable with. But if you’re family watch shows together, I’d recommend you to watch Nemesis them. Yes, it’s family-friendly and I’d like to say it’s a great show for father’s month!

My first ever jdrama is a detective show and it’s been a long while since I’ve watched an airing one, and I’m hyped because we have very few female detective like Anna. I think Nemesis met my expectations, but I felt that the characters deserves a second season because 10 episodes is too short for their deep backstory.

I watched because of Sho Sakurai but ended up laughing and loving the role of the Duo Police Detective. There's no dull moment because of the presence of the supporting role cast as it's perfect with their character and scene. There's still an event going on in the background, in sync with the music and sound effects which I commend. It's kinda your typical detective story but with more twist and plot intact.

Overall, I love it. Especially the comedy. I highly recommend this one if you like some detective, not that serious cases or plot stories. The chemistry between Sho Sakurai and Hirose Suzu is so perfect as they have partnered before with the same detective genre movie. ( Laplace's Witch ) ~6
