until that ending, i was thinking of rating this 3 stars
well this was "interesting" for lack of a better word, disappointing is a more fitting word & given the cast we got here, will say that again - idk what the writer's/director were thinking - but this was a mess at parts & at others, just illogical b.s.used to seeing incompetent cops that can't find their head with their own 2 hands, let alone shoot a gun when needed. but can/will lookover most of the glitches - even the plotholes until that whack end - like seriously?!?
Alpha the invincible machine was taken out, in that insiginificant way? why?!? why he the only test subject to get his eyes wired shut?!? how it go from japanese guys doing human experiments, to the test subject runing the show?!? just to make a antiaging drug? and if that wasn't enough, we got that rotten cherry on top (finding out Lee Do Il's son survived) but he being kept locked-up - why? why that CEO keeping the successful experiments confined, to what end?!? and as Lee Do Il doesn't know this fact, why we got this reveal?!? so "they" can make a part 2 - to this mess?!? (ノへ ̄、) plz...
pity, this had potential. it was ridiculous with the water-slide of blood used in every kill, let alone the cruelty at how each kill was implemented - overkill IMHO - just revolting (get it, they were bad-guy, still just nauseating). or those exaggerated foot falls of Alpha ¯\_(ツ)_/¯(like plz) so much could've/should've been cut short, so we get more of a story to the main plot. ironically or not the only one i rooted for (even before he came on scene) was Alpha. the rest were meeh (also the one i wanted dead from the start was the nurse (¬‿¬) OMG she got under my skin, i applauded her kill).
anyway like i wrote above, this plot needed to be rewritten, with a clear end & some answers about the main charecter's/plot, that would be appreciated (let alone make this a good movie), as is - it was fine for a 1 off. but still a bummer

very disappointing
This movie is the most fucked up movie I have probably ever seen. I'm never gonna recommend this to anyone unless they want to see a shit ton of blood and gross things. It felt like all they wanted to show us is how they kill people without any mercy. This story had quite a bit of potential but they decided to just fuck everything up by introducing a monster with super strength and killing the main characters??? at least they were the main characters for 3/4th of the movie but at the end, it turned out that they weren't actually that important.. definitely not my cup of tea. it also kind of ended with a cliffhanger that made us question what actually happened. Was this review helpful to you?

This was HILARIOUS!
From the thriller category this movie stepped into hilarious trash under the heavy steps of the Alpha boy :'DAnd if you support the calim of "never seen anything like this before" then you better watch and read more. The storyline is generic human experiment project (oh puhlease as if we've never seen those) that goes out of hand onboard of a ship and starts a melee.
I've been watching Doom at your service and the feeling of - I know this guy from somewhere - hasn't left me, before it downed on me where I might have seen him and I was right, just with more tattoos and golden teeth. And then realized that I haven't left a review under this movie yet, so I rushed like a bird to share why I was basically rolling laughing while watching.
But funnily, initially I watched this movie thanks to someone's edit on YT short, which had him and Jung So Min, very misleading edit I must say, because if you've seen the movie you know there's nothing between the two.
First part of the movie I'd say I spent in disgust thanks to the idea of creators to make it look disgusting. One is the nightmare of all clean freaks, transporting some knocked out monster in the deepest parts of the ship where everything leaks, seeps and looks yuck including the dude in question. The second one is brutality and the amount of spilled fake blood after the prisoners escape.
But. To me everything started to turn hilarious and I couldn't care less about the idea to make it sappy, include some heartfelt stories etc. The reason for it is:
1) Special effect make-up. The Alpha boy aka walking killing machine looked hilarious to me. To make him look buff the team just crossed the boundry and overplayed themselves. I don't find it looking terrifying, at best it looks comical;
2) Sound effects. The most hilarious moment for me was one - when the door falls on top of a person and the Alpha boy walks on top of the door, his steps were heavy, but they added the sound as if he's wearing iron boots, it was hysterical! :'D Just imagine that boom-boom-boom;
3) Some fight scenes, you'll have to see for yourself.
Oh yeah, I don't mention that all die and some die in a very forced way, as if the screenwriters didn't know what to do and lowered IQ of people to achieve the result.
In general it was nothing more, but an action movie with a lot of fight scenes and blood. The monster is nothing more, but an experimental project to enhance human body to, of course, prolong life and make it stronger, which can also be used as a killing machine. But to make it even more thrilling we have a whole bunch of criminals added to the ship, so you can guess that it's a simple guise for transporting the Alpha boy in the depths of this ship. Criminals find their way out and break out, taking the hold of the ship, the big noise and a bit of blood wake up our bloodthirsty monster, who starts to hunt, kill left and right. I don't think both sides had too much time to think before a bunch of people were simply wiped out, so Seo In Guk's role wasn't that long tbh. The one who surprised me the most was Jung So Min, they managed to let her survive the entire movie, but then she rushes out with a single gun, in the narrow corridor against armed crowd and of course she got shot. I think this surprised me the most. But I must say.. I haven't seen her in a main role, almost always used for something episodic, so I can't say anything about her acting in general, but here she felt bland. I also asked myself why they let her character survive for so long, but tbh her character did little to the story. But in action/thriller movies like this with fights and blood there is no need for some profound acting, you need to be just a little engaging, that's all.
And because I didn't expect much I had my fun, after all I can laugh at trashiness instead of being frustrated or disappointed. And I respect Korean film industry, the growth through years is obvious, there are many remarkable works, if not story-wise, but cinematography-wise. There is still room to grow and I wish them all the best.

Too Bloody
I initially wanted to watch it, but after i saw some clips or basically scrolled through the entire movie, I was utterly Disgusted by the gore and bloody, as someone who cannot handle bloody gore scenes, I dropped this movie as it was too bloody and disgusting, however I loved the actors and actresses and Seo in-Guk acting is Awesome! Unlike the previous roles he played, he managed to act out the character realistically, and honestly i was shocked at how well he was able to portray a villain, but I didn’t really understood the story, like everybody died at the end of the movie except one, like what?! overall it was just too bloody to watch and i suggest that those with a weak stomach or cannot handle blood to not watch itWas this review helpful to you?

Intriguing, Gory, Violent, and Unexpected
it's just blood and guts everywhere, which i like, tbh it's so unexpecting to the point that you wont know who's gonna be dead, who's gonna survive, or who's even the main antagonist??but yeah it's chaotic, just the way i like. That seemingly main characters we see, even died at one point, i was even confused who's the mc here, 'cuz i would theorize that it's dayeon and she ended up dying minutes later, like bffr i hated how she died.?I wish this can have a part 2 tho, we still have many reasons to have a sequel, many other opportunities for the plot, and i want it to be even gorier next timeWas this review helpful to you?
not bad not good
This movie felt so lacking that I got so disappointed at the end. It definitely needs a part 2 because as a highly anticipated movie I expected a lot I guess it wasn't a total flop ,it just felt like a beginning if you get what I am saying. The characters kept dying even though they were just starting to get some background, I understood that it was kinda like a thriller kind of movie but those that I thought would be the main characters just ended up dying .The ending had the best cliffhanger ever leaving the audience wanting more, just would have made more sense if the part 2 was watched immediately after but we aren't even sure there is going to be a part two.
Excellent acting from Jung so min, Seo in guk and Park ho san was gripping my seat when they came on mmy only issue was with the story/plot.

Pointless killing
With it being sent to TIFF and having Seo Inguk and Jung Somin in it I expected something better but its heavily disappointing to say the least. Not so much of a story but it does have a massive, excessive amount of blood and sometimes physics is ignored (how does a knife slice through leg bones).
Great cast lineup so acting was great but no amazing actor/actress couldve saved such disastrous writing
In terms of gore its up there with The Witch Part 2 but lacks heavy in othet areas

Bloody movie
It is a violent and bloody film. It's scary from start to finish and keeps you waiting for what will happen, the way people die is very ruthless and bloody. Seo in guk did a great job with his acting, it was phenomenal and exquisite, I was able to enjoy his character too much, seeing that wild side of him is very gratifying. The cast did a great job too, I congratulate the director for this great movie, I am glad that it has been widely accepted and loved both in Korea and abroad, it deserves many awards, this movie is not suitable for anyone because its genre is very violent, I recommend it 10/10.Was this review helpful to you?

NADA.Was this review helpful to you?
