Somewhere in between..

Forecasting Love And Weather had a good concept, but dragged down, primarily by weak writing, but also due to it's not so impressive execution.

It felt like there were 2 different things shown on screen, and neither of them was able to achieve anything. The chemistry was good between the leads, however the constant dilemma of the leads to the situation in their hand, made me annoying towards them.

What works though, are the side characters. Chae Yu Jun and Han ki Jun had a happy ending, however it still bothers me that cheating led to a good conclusion though. Apart from them, the personal life of the other members of the Team 2 was quite intriguing which made the plot more interesting and relevant to the message which the lead character should have displayed.

An another drama, where the conclusion wasn't good enough, with focussing on details that weren't much relevant to the premise. However, the story and engagement of side characters' story is what handled the drama a bit well.

My Rating : 6.5/10

I'm not a fan

*SPOILERS AHEAD*

I was interested in this drama just to watch they guy, since people had typed him as an INFJ 6w7, so it was so I can just observe him.

As soon as I observed her behavior as very ISTJ, I also saw that others had typed her that too.

I immediately forecasted that there wouldn't be such romance between them.

I don't believe those 2 types to be a a good matching pair, which I was correct.

This whole entire drama there was like no in-depth romance.

I'm sure the main guy wanted that with her, but since she is an Si dom Te auxiliary; she was too concerned about what had happened to her in the past and too concerned about work for romance.

The entire drama they didn't even become an actual couple.

Even my significant other questioned me: Why was this drama even made?

Lol....

Her character was such a true ISTJ, I applaud her for that though.

Would be great if it had nothing to do with the weather forecast.

Yes, the title of this review essentially means this drama would be amazing if they basically changed the entire plot. Personally, the fact that the story is based around a group of workers in a weather forecasting agency is so pointless and DRY. I understand they were trying to bring a new kind of setting to a kdrama that hasn’t been seen before but honestly I found myself skipping every single moment they were talking about the weather.

Every single actor is TOP TIER i must say. I have to say especially Yoon Park’s character. He was absolutely amazing from start to end, you hate him in the beginning and gradually grow to love him. I think his character is the reason I kept watching to be honest. The comedic relief at some points yet immensely emotional when needed. His character development was absolutwly awesome so I hope he gets recognised a lot for his role. Again, Lee Sung-Wook was equally as amazing in this drama. So if you are like me in that you watch kdramas more for the great acting and being INVESTED IN CHARACTERS RATHER THAN THE PLOT, then maybe this drama is the next one for you!

IT’S A SHAME THAT you can tell there was so much thought into each individual character and their background and their development BUT, it was all so disjointed and it just seemed quite messy to me. Even with the second lead love interests (not KiJun and Yoojin) involving hakyungs sister, I just couldn’t feel myself getting invested in their story WITHIN THE PLOT, it just felt like they were off in another kdrama world completely.

THE PLOT AT THE BEGINNING was essentially, the main couple trying to avoid people at work figuring out their relationship and I thought OKAY, this is what the plot is going to be, it should be interesting. Especially as hakyung said if anyone finds out then they have to break up. I genuinely thought that would be the plot, theyd keep it a secret most of the time, get to ep 12/13 and they get figured out, break up and then by ep16 theyre back together for good. BUT THAT PLOT WENT COMPLETELY OUT THE WINDOW. It was about their secret for about 3 episodes and then it completely strayed and the plot became so so confused. I feel like, because there are so many different characters who the writers are trying to show and express, the episodes dont actually move anywhere? It just focuses on individuals. As I said this can be a positive for those who are okay with an EXTREMELY SLOW MOVING PLOT BUT QUALITY CHARACTERS.

To round off, WOULD I RECOMMEND IT? NO. WOULD I REWATCH IT? ABSOLUTELY NOT? WILL I WATCH THE NEXT DRAMAS THESE ACTORS ARE IN? YES FOR SURE!
EXCEPT!!! I do love Song Kang don’t get me wrong but honestly, his characters have been so 2D since Love Alarm. Nevertheless was one of my favourite kdramas of last year but even then his character was just lacking for me. I don’t know if it the roles he chooses (I can’t speak on sweet home as i haven’t watched him in that)but for me, he comes across quite awkward. That’s my only criticism of him.

Batten down the hatches! Heavy weather ahead!

I was really looking forward to this show because of the leads and the setting. The first episode was a bit heavy going, but it set the scene and presented us with a tangled web of interconnected relationships as well as set up the meet-cute of our OTP. Speaking of the OTP, they look good together and there was certainly a good deal of chemistry. The show put this relationship on steroid, and it was on a fast track.

The writer-nim was trying to integrate the weather theme into each episode because the KMA is where they work and weather can also affect human emotions and our state of mind. Kudos to them for trying their best and it does work but it is also the show’s Achille’s heel.

The writer-nim picked the more impactful weather events such as storms, heatwaves, flooding rain as subject to make the plot more interesting. Yes, it created drama, but it also meant that the Show is almost a non-stop run of extremes if not outright disasters. When you mirror that with the protagonist’s lives then it is heavy weather all the way.

In essence, all the relationships in this show are in trouble or heading that way. The OTP was a done deal within the first few episodes, but the Show then spend the next 10+ episodes making their lives difficult until they finally broke up. The mid show breakup trope is tried and tested, but this is expending a lot of negative energy to undo something that is supposed to the central pillar of your show. Combined with all the other troubled relationships around a small hub, it becomes oppressive like a monsoon before the storm breaks. It makes you wonder why anyone would want to be in a committed relationship after watching this! May be it is billed as a rom-com but I’m more inclined to call it an anti-rom-com.

Needless to say, the rom-com gods were displeased and smite the writer-nim. Hee hee, just kidding. The show really can’t keep going on this downward trajectory or it will be called Forecasting Angsts and Weather! The show turns around in the final straight and all the broken fences are mended, and the good ship came back on course for the HEA endings. The last episode was sweet and satisfying but it is a long season of bad weather before the sun came out again.

If you were hoping for another Park Min Young rom-com like Secretary Kim or Her Private Life then this is not it. She still has the visuals, but she also spends half the Show looking discombobulated and frazzled. You almost imagine her walking away mumbling “this is a mistake; this is a mistake . . .”. Song Kang has received some negative comments about his acting on the net and you can see why because while he is handsome as always, the script has him looking like a deer in the headlights far too often. It is not a good look, and it certainly will not enhance his acting credentials. Things do improve towards the end, but it is a little late. Most of the support cast were solid, seasoned actors and they pulled their weight. They are probably glad to get more meaty roles and more screen time. The flip side to this “ensemble” approach is that there is less focus on the OTP and some of their scenes felt choppy.

As an ode to all the professionals toiling thanklessly in the service of the general public, the show deserved 10/10. As a rom-com/melodrama it did not reach the same high-water mark.

Production value is excellent. OST is very nice. Rewatch is mostly the beginning and the end of the show for me. Depending what you are looking for, the mileage on this show will differ. Caveat Emptor, my friends.

The drama had a good start but......

Actually I really liked the drama.
The drama had a good start and the main leads were so cool together, they always talked straightforwardly to each other. The drama had a good start and the main leads were so cool together, they always talked straightforwardly to each other.
But from what I've heard, "the more you fall in love with that person you are more sensitive"
So when they broke up I thought it was okay since both of them need time but I didn't expect them to drag it till last episode. I mean this show had such a great start and at the end it really became a predictable thing, like they really gave us 10 min of them being together.
Overall I love the drama because of side characters and the acting🤌
Ki jun was a cheater but his character was so funny, I was always waiting for his wide range of expressions I became his fan 😌 I'm now fan of the actor....

Unconventional Love Story

I think the English Title is somewhat misleading because it makes you think this story is a romance drama. This is a melodrama first with very little romance. There is a mixed bag of reviews with some hating this and some loving but I quite enjoyed this story for what it was, as it displayed the downsides to relationship, showcasing that relationships aren’t fairytales, like what we see on tv.

The good

The highlight of this drama for me was on the meteorological aspect because it was a fresh idea that I hadn’t seen in a drama before. I actually found this part of the story to be very interesting. Not sure how accurate it was to the profession but it gave us a look at how stressful this profession could be and how it could have an impact on relationships, both romantically and familial. I also found enjoyment in seeing the relationships unfold because each story was different. Although it was quite odd that this drama focused heavily on the cheating couple, it still gave us a different perspective. Although I wasn’t as vested in that couples ending, there was a very real take on how their decisions led to the turmoil in the relationship and how they still impacted the main couple’s relationship. It was refreshing to see not so fluffy mature, realistic relationships.

The bad

I would say the acting overall met the high bar but did not exceed it. Each character brought a fresh take to the story but the level of good acting definitely did not add up among the characters which caused some people to be less interesting than others. I found the main couple's relationship problematic as this story didn’t showcase much of their time together as a couple. We got a few little side flashbacks of their time together that apparently occurred but wasn’t shown in realtime during the show. This actually made me feel less involved in their relationship and disconnected from their breakup towards the end.

This drama does not have a high rewatch value but if you like the lead actors, watch and make your own decision on how you would rate this. For me, it’s a one and done.

Not great, but pretty good. I don't agree with the really bad ratings

TBH, my wife and I started this some months back and dropped it since it seamed very slow. And we were not sure about the acting. But we decided to give it another try and watched all the way through. Yes, it is a bit slow, but we still found it engaging and after a few episodes got into the story. There was a lot of voice overs that were quite philosophical and featured analogies with the weather, which I thought was very cool. The series tried quite hard to be thoughtful. Perhaps this is not come folks' cup of tea, but I liked it. The acting was good, I thought, from both the main and secondary couple, and the other characters as well.

As others have noted, it is NOT a RomCom, but is more serious and has quite a few sad parts. But it ends well.

Summary: It is not an Epic series, it is not a RomCom, but it is pretty good and I think worth a watch.

Luv the first 8eps & it could’ve been one of my faves this year… i’ll take the HE…

I haven’t been so invested in a K-Drama for a while, n at first this drama was so good that it made me watch it on going while waiting impatiently every week for the next eps to be released… but halfway it just went downhill n it made me so frustrated watching it… i’ll just take the HE…

What I luv:
- The storytelling… every eps has a weather theme where they somehow connect it to relationship subject, n the way it was told is just something i have never seen in any other dramas before… it’s just refreshing that we could see different kinds of relationships n even learn some life lessons in between…
- The main leads… i luv PMY & SK, visually they just look so good together n i like their chems… i’m not a fan of noona with younger guy story, but this one is ok for me… SK has improved in his acting IMO n he suits this character…
- The first 8eps is just so good! We got some adult relationship probs which got solved after 1-2eps max, some weather BTS stories that’s just so interesting to watch n even some romcom sweet moments here n there between the leads…
- The weather forecast people as the background story is something new for me… i don’t know if how they r portrayed in this drama doing their job is accurate, but it’s something really interesting to watch…
- The casts… everybody is doing a good job with their characters…

What i dislike:
- Storywise after 8eps was just a trainwreck… it felt that they changed the writer… it was angst after angst n every week it managed to disappoint me more n more… i kept watching n hoped for a miracle twist so it could go back to the original path, but nope it got worse, so sad n frustrating to watch…
- Plotwise, how they somehow make SML & SFL, the cheaters exes of the leads, redeem themselves n show them as good people… SML cheated on FL after 10years being together n 1month b4 their wedding with SFL where FL caught them on bed in her apt! But guess what, the scumbag n his new wife got a good story n even a very good ending where they r happily married n expecting their kid… this just makes me so mad!
- The lack of screentime our leads together in 1 frame after that 8eps… in some eps they had maybe almost zero screentime together, n even if they do, it’ll be only work related or full of angst n no happy moments… SML&SFL got so much screentime together, n honestly i don’t care about their story… n even the leads got more screentime with their exes compared to with each other… ridiculous, right? 🙄
- Don’t believe that this is a romcom, it might be slight romcom in the first 8eps, but after that is full melodrama, the depressing kind with lots of misunderstandings throughout the few eps…
- I don’t know how writer thinks that this is what reality is… for example, 2mths after that scandal n SML married SFL, all work in the same office… after some bickerings, somehow the leads r in good terms with their exes… they, esp FL with SML meet up lots of times where they give each other relationship advice to each other while SML keep showing off how much he luv his wife… in the last eps he even bragged to her about how he’s gonna be a father… i’m not saying it’s impossible to be friends with ur ex, but getting advise n confiding in them over n over about ur current relationship after everything the scumbag has done to her only 2months prior to this n now already acting all friendly like nothing bad ever happened between them? Come on writers, what kind of person does that???
- The ML’s dad redemption arc… his dad is the worst, he keeps asking money from him n spends them on gambling, went to his office n embarrassed him in front of everybody, etc… he is the source of all ML’s probs n actually play a big part in the breakup between the leads… n guess what, he got sick n suddenly became a good father out of nowhere… his story is just weird n a bit forced IMO… i just wish they they didn’t have to use this jerk dad plot, it felt like a neverending angst n it felt stuck, esp since in the end they let him redeemed himself in such a cliché…
- The amount of missed potentials the drama has is just stupid… the leads had a secret relationship at the office, did we get fluttering sneaky moments at the office? Nope! the leads lived together with another colleague at some point, did we get cute almost busted scenes at the apt? Nope! FL’s sis is dating the leads’ colleague, did we get a funny awkward doubledate scene? Nope! And the main point, the leads r SK&PMY… can u imagine having them playing in a drama together n missed out on potentially lots of cute romantic scenes all through the drama? It’s just a waste of them! When i think about this i’m just… *sigh

Anyway… like i said before, i enjoyed the first 8eps n it could’ve been one of my faves drama… but yeah unfortunately it became a melodrama with full of angst where the writings n story just went down halfway… however if u ask if i regret watching this? Nope! As frustrated i was, there were still some things i really liked… n why i was so frustrated was because i just had so much expectations after that solid 8eps… at least it has a HE, so there’s that…

The perfect representation of right person, bad time

Forecasting Love and Weather managed to receive a decent amount of hate since it came out earlier this year. I personally was very excited for its release because it is starring one of my favourite K-Drama actresses - Park Min Young - whose work, never disappoints.

Its start was quite slow, the first few episodes dragged out a little and the writer really liked to experiment with messing up the timeline or omitting certain details from viewers which completely change the perspective of a scene at the start and throughout vs the end. This is also a technique the writer kept close to heart throughout the drama.

The relationship between the FL and ML developed very quickly and in my opinion at a very bad time; they both had just broken up with their partners and their lives were a depressed mess where a new relationship didn't make sense, yet they fell in love and wanted to be together.

I feel like a lot of people are needlessly comparing this drama to A Business Proposal which came out at the same time as Forecasting. However, comparing the two is a big mistake. A Business Proposal is a quirky, fun rom-com meanwhile Forecasting Love and Weather is about relationships and life.

The drama analyses three different types of relationships:
- Romantic
- Family
- And professional.

It toys around with hard-hitting themes like parents manipulating their children or being way too nosy and pressuring their children into marriage, the line you draw between colleagues and lovers and where you stand with your exes.

I was gassed to see a female lead, finally, who was in a superior position at work to the male lead - she was his boss. And this new perspective gave office romance dramas a new theme to work with.

The couple's relationship comparison to the weather also spoke volumes to the drama's central theme. I like how the relationship between the ML and FL wasn't pink and colourful all the time, but instead, blue and grey because relationships are never like A Business Proposal or Her Private Life, they require work and understanding and most importantly communication (which was a long way coming for the main couple here).

A lot of people also discussed the FL's ad ML's relationship with their exes. Personally, I think the drama portrayed the relationship one has with their long time ex pretty well. Not everyone can just block their number and forget them - even though that would have been the healthiest way to deal with things - sometimes people from your past linger in your contacts a little longer than you hoped they would, other times, they become your friends.

Not Good Enough

Korean Drama "Forecasting Weather and Love" is a drama about the struggles of dating in the office.

The drama gives some insight into how weather forecasting works, which was interesting. The first episodes were also entertaining and had a nice pace.

Unfortunately, the rest of the drama was boring and predictable. The love story had few twists and the couple was tiring. The second couple was probably there to annoy the main lead, but later on, their story took off.

The side stories were also pretty solid. However, they were pushed aside by the stale main story and had a rushed conclusion and rocky progress.

As for the performances, they were all good by everyone in the cast. But the characters were weak and had few things to offer. Therefore they were not memorable nor had any material for the actors to work with.

So, overall, 2.5 out of 10.

I was surprised to see Park Min Young & Song Kang Paired together.

I was intrigued by the actors playing the leads, which brought me here.

Ep 1: Having watched Cho Young Pil go crazy over weather forecast in Samdalri, I was happy to see another crazy forecaster in Shi Woo. I liked how he stood up to Ha Kyung when he knew he was right. I think him calling her out on her personal issues was a bit too much. Now, let's talk about the trashy ex. Moron got caught cheating, so he married the woman he cheated with. He took half of the expensive stuff as if it was his own, wants the FL to sell the apartment and split the costs (this maybe is fine, since they weren't married) But he wasn't remorseful about his actions at all. FL looked heartbroken when she caught him in the act. Gives me the eck!

Ep 2: What an horrible ex to have. Not only is he even a little bit apologetic, but he goes around flaunting his relationship with his new wife without even consideration for her feelings. Whenever him and his wife come on screen they spoil the whole watching experience for me. The leads have good chemistry together. I'm so glad that Ha Kyung finally spoke her mind. The guy didn't contribute to most of it. She was the one who paid for most of the stuff including the house they were living in. He wanted to go half when all he paid was for 7%. He had the guts to ask for those things after he cheated on her. So damn low. Shee Woo's ex isn't any better either. She keep pretending as if she is gods gift to the world.

Ep 3 to Ep 8: Both Shee Woo & Ha Kyung are gradually learning to trust each other. They are quite a few setbacks which include their idiot exes who can't seem to lie in the beds they made. Ki Joon is such a hypocrite, it was fine when he lived with Ha kyung before but he can't accept his wife's past because she lived with another dude before she got hitched to him. She isn't any better, why not be upfront about her past. I think she got together with Ki Joon because she thought he had money, but learning that he doesn't have much and that they both would have to work to earn a house for themselves seems to make her so uncomfortable. As if someone owes her a house. Now that they both have found out that their exes are dating each other, pretty sure they are going to go out of their way to tell them that they are wrong to be dating.

Ep 9 to Ep 16: This arc was very frustrating to watch. The leads kept dragging the same issue without resolving it. It was frustrating and painful to watch. Why suggest break up if you don't want to? You clearly have different ideas of what you want from life. One wants to be married the other doesn't. Why torture each other needlessly? Is there not going to be any resentment down the line? I was so upset with how Shee Woo was dealing with things that I wanted Ha Kyung to meet someone else at this point. Someone who wouldn't make her constantly doubt her worth. At the same time, I felt that Shee Woo was in need of a therapist. If after dealing with his issues he still felt the same way about marriage then that would have been more logical.

As much as I like them for a short arc, it wasn't that fun to watch. It was interesting but that's about it.
