BABYY!! It'll sure make you feel so single ;) ( ITS THE REALISTICNESS FOR ME)

This movie had me in tears. The story itself is so real and the actors really did justice to it. It all felt so real
(the acting) like we were peeping into real lives. The end too where they made love, was just so beautiful it had me crying. The emotions, the love they portrayed, their chemistry was all felt by me,
I love how even the supporting characters' stories and characters were so realistic and relatable.
And lets be honest, Pearl is not a supporting character. Baby boy she's the mainn!!

Not As Good As The Series

This is a well acted move starring two of the hottest and best actors in BL today. But the story for me, just did not work. It became formulaic. The original series was fresh, creative, and beautifully done. This stuck to a formula and became predictable. It added scenes to I guess move the movie along but all that did was distract. I really wanted to see, feel, and understand better the intensity of their own relationship. I also realized the end from the beginning. That took the magic away. It is not a bad movie in fact it is good. It just is not great. I know, I know. I probably am the only one who does not see a connection between these two. I just do not feel the spark between them even though they act like they do.

Love love love it

Gameboys the series and the movie both are so well scripted and well thought out. It is actually the most progressive BL ever with literally no toxicity and not-okay stuff that many other BL glorify and romanticises. Literally one of the best LGBTQ+ representation in the history of cinema. The movie felt like a happy hour that I never wanted to end. Many a time I watch how much time there’s still left for a series of film to end but with this one time flew and I was so invested effortlessly. The movie did justice as a story continuation for the season 1 of the series. It was just one and half hour and still it did it’s best to bring everything and everyone together. It wasn’t trying to incorporate a lot of unnecessary drama out of nowhere which is something I liked. Due to this, the movie told a wholesome stripped down story of Gavreel and Cairo and their friends. The writers and producers deserve my respect and applause along with everyone’s I believe for making this series and this movie because this series addresses lgbtq issues just the way it is without exaggeration or sugarcoating. The cinematography is next level and it’s evident in the soft vintage colours which I really loved.

It made me smile and cry at the same time.

So, let me start by thanking people by giving me the link. I never had so much problem finding a movie before, but honestly, this is a worldwide treasure, so I understand…lol. Second of all, this was just so lovely, pure, and honest to God, AWESOME! Their acting is so on point that honestly, I want them to be for real between them!

Now, I do have some questions. I do hope that members can informed me about my questions. I know there is going to be a second series (awesome) but, will the series pickup where the movie left? Are they going to do the same but now one in NY and the other one at home? I mean, it’s possible and realistic since covid-19 is still around the world. Not only that, we also have Delta, Lambada, and other ones out there.

That is all…lol.

Mixed feelings

I'll say that just like the headline of this review, Gameboys The Movie left me with mixed feelings... here's why.

First the positives:

1. Watching Gavreel and Cairo along with Pearl and the rest of the gang after season 1 of the series ended is great. The chemistry the whole cast has been able to achieve is something remarkable and Kokoy de Santos and Elijah Canlas really complement each other as one portrays this super confident and sexy character while the other is the nerdy charming guy.

2. Once again acting and directing are on point, especially Canlas and de Santos as they both traverse through the joy and excitement of being together after season 1 ended with Cairo's mother allowing him to spend some time with Gavreel before joining her and his brothers in another province in the Philippines. They way they playfully navigate through a day of just mundane things like laundry or cooking is great, followed by Gavreel's silliness when they go to bed. As other characters arrive we see the joy and also a bit of shock to see the gang all together only to all be spoiled by the arrival of Aunt Susan who resembles so many nosy, annoying family members who have an opinion for everything and are normally wrong.

3. Pearl this time doesn't shine as much as she did in the series because there are more characters and situations arising around here but Adrianna So once again brings a much needed break from the lovebirds with some funny moments and also some dose of reality like the conversation she has with Cairo about the real reason Gavreel never went to NY to live with his Aunt Myra.

Now the not so positives:

1. The storyline was a bit shaky at some points. The movie is 1 hour 47 minutes long but some sequences are a bit unnecessary. Yes, I admit I enjoyed Cairo and Gavreel doing laundry and being a happy couple, but some of those moments tend to be a bit long and super cheesy. Then, there is no real reason for Terrence to suddenly arrive drunk at Gav's house, sure he knows where he lives and he is feeling super lonely, but he literally just crashes the party. Then Wesley arrives just following Terrence as their situation from the special episode (ep 13) in the series gets explained a bit more.
Achilles is another of those characters whose background is not very clear but he had a fling with Terrence back when he couldn't commit or didn't want to commit, so their tense moments, while well acted, really needed a bit more context than what they explained during their fight.

2. Gavreel's background was clear since the series when he mentioned his grandmother Cora raised him after his parents died. Besides that we knew bits and pieces from him, so I think something was a bit of a surprise was the appearance of Aunt Susan. The typical homophobic person who doesn't feel she is homophobic or rude because she uses the excuse of wanting "what's best for Gavreel" or in "the name of God". The religious zealot who confuses everyone and everything with her ideas and concepts of what a relationship should be. She brings a lot of conflicts to Gavreel and Cairo's relationship and also plays the "your aunt Myra is dying" card to cause Gavreel to leave to NY to be with her.
AND, one of the things that bothered me the most was how Gavreel was portrayed as a character here. In the series and in parts of the movie he is a super confident young man who knows he loves Cairo and is happy around him and his friends. But Aunt Susan just reminds him of his past and he just suddenly crumbles under all the stress and pressure. It was a bit surprising to see how this confident, nearly cocky guy, just goes to a puddle of tears and sobs because he can't handle coming out to her aunt, he can't handle his other aunt dying. I know people cope with stress differently, but in Gavreel it was a bit unexpected.

3. The ending was when the mixed feelings fully kicked in for me. On one hand, I knew Cairo had to go back to his family and after talking to Aunt Myra, Gavreel decides to go to NY to live with her. So that was expected... but at the same time it was sad to see them actually leaving and all the tears in-between. I know season 2 is supposed to come at some point and this movie was just a bridge provided by IdeaFirst Company because season 1 ended with the promise of season 2 but the pandemic has delayed filming, so the movie was done to quench our thirst for Gavreel and Cairo but with this ending, I wonder how is the director approaching season 2. Will the show jump several years into the future? Will we get Cairo in the Philippines and Gavreel in NY?

In the end, the movie was a bit long but it did was it was supposed to do, provide us with some Cai-Reel moments alongside the rest of the gang for us to recharge our batteries in order to patiently wait for season 2.

Top Tier Drama

Promised and delivered. The love of these guys is so pure and real, the way they take care of each other and their friends, the way they look at each other... Top tier BL romance. The story picks up where S1 left off, with our boys temporarily living together. They are still very much in love, but the real world is slowly working its way into their lives. Old "friends" show up, doubts arise, Covid is raging. In the end they need to make a heartbreaking choice which left me ugly crying. There are some storylines that could have used more attention, but it doesnt take away from the rest. The love and lovemaking is exactly that. Lovemaking. Not sex, not lovescene. Not often do we see switches in BL. Usually just top/bottom This gave me joy! Thankfully I know theres going to be a S2 soon. Can't wait!

I was here for my babies not for all these people-

I didn't enjoy this at all... Did I have too high expectations after Gameboys? I don't know but I'm just gonna tell you guys my review on this movie.

After the ending of Gameboys I seriously thought we were gonna get that much needed skinship and cuddles and kisses and hugs that the boys couldn't get because of social distancing. However, everytime we did get that we were interrupted every 2 minutes by the side couple (who I can't stand) and/or the horrible aunt that came uninvited to make me lose my cool and smash the pause button everytime she spoke a word. I was only happy when we had Cairo, Gavreel or Pearl on screen, other than that I was ughhhh.

I don't know if I'm the only one who couldn't enjoy the movie bc of the side couple but I felt that they were just constantly interrupting A VERY GOOD EXAMPLE was when Terrence arrived :))) I wanted to k*ll him.

Anywaaay, apart from that I think that this story deserved a happy ending... I do enjoy a lot tragic endings, I live for those but this story didn't need that. I can accept that Cairo had to go to his province but for Gav to leave to the States was a bit too unnecessary.

In conclusion, I feel like Gameboys as a first season can be highly recommended but up until the episode 12 where we do get a happy ending and no annoying side couple. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

On par with the series but for different reasons!

This movie moved away from the experimental filming style of the Gameboys series but the quality remained. In this instalment we see more of Gav and Cairo and their struggles as a couple, and also an update from the usual characters such as Pearl, Terrance, Wesley and the briefly introduced Achilles.

I loved that the style of filming now allowed us to see a more organic, less showy version of Gav and Cairo's relationship. The plot this time focused more on Gav and his struggles, which I loved! He was so positive in the series that I wondered when we would get more honesty from him, about his life outside his relationship with Cairo, and we got it, it was so nice, but often heart-breaking to see. There was a genuine progression to Gav and Cairo's relationship too, no rushing, and the actors did a good job of relaying this. There was still lots of crying, so expect that, but it felt natural.

My main issues with this instalment lay with Terrence, Wesley wasn't so bad but Terrence was a bit annoying to be honest. His character just seemed so fake, with all the apologising, I'm not sure if this was the actors fault or if Terrence was meant to be kind of flaky? But either way, it made his relationship with Wesley seem ingenuine. I did like their story overall though, and some of their moments were cute, so I hope I can better understand Terrence's character in the future, maybe in Game Boys 2, which I am interested in and hoping to watch!

MY BOYS :)

This was an absolutely amazing movie, like better than what I was expecting. Gameboy's was a series that I watched on a whim and really didn't think much of because most Pinoy BL's I've seen have been pretty average. BUT I actually thought the series was really well done for a series that takes place during Quarantine AND most likely on a tight budget. It had a very very cute story and the acting is just superb. Kokoy and Elijah have really good chemistry in my opinion. This movie was EVEN BETTER than the series itself because now we actually got to see how the actors physically interact with each other in person and it did not disappoint me. I feel like they fed off each others energies really well and it seemed like they had all actually been friends for a really long time.
Let me not forget about the sex scene between Kokoy and Elijah. It was honestly one of the best sex scenes in all BL. I haven't seen a scene like this where they switch roles mid sex. I like that they put something in there like that because it's a bit more unique to the BL drama scene. Plus, the way it was filmed was absolutely alluring and beautiful.
I really enjoyed this entire movie from beginning to end. The music was great, the acting was great, the filming was great, the location was great, the lighting was great. I really don't know how else to express it.
I will be watching this again.

Great story!

I had a hard time finding the movie. I ended up renting it from Amazon Prime, as it wasn't available anywhere else that I had access to. I have read comments and they say that the Season 2 is the movie with a few more scenes. I would have preferred to see the Season 2 over the movie, but couldn't find the full season anywhere. I will probably go back and watch the episodes that I actually do have access to, just to see any missed scenes.

As in Season 1, Pearl was a gem! (Pun intended haha.) Her love and support of the boys couldn't have been better. In my opinion, the boys other than Cai and Gav were just eye-candy, but who doesn't love a little candy??!! Gav and Cai were the main focus, and they had me smiling, giggling, and crying at various times. Poor Gav, dealing with his homophobic aunt....I seriously want to hurt people like that who spread their hate and misguided "concern." I'm so glad that the boys finally stood up to her. (I'm not violent, just angry that some people want to hide behind their religion in order to dictate how others should live.)

I saw someone write that they didn't think Gav's character should have broken down as he did, because he was so upbeat and happy other times. But this movie really showed the amount of pain that a lot of people went through because of the pandemic. You can only handle so much before you break, and with the real-world stresses on top of the pandemic stresses, it's a wonder that he didn't have a breakdown beforehand.

I loved the amount of love and happiness the two boys showed each other. I also saw that they didn't top and bottom each other, as you see in EVERY other BL out there. That was the most refreshing thing for me. I mean, it's not for everyone....some choose to be one or the other..... but the way it was handled in the movie did a good job in displaying the equality of their relationship.

I adored Season 1, and I loved the movie/Season 2. I hope they make a Season 3, but honestly, now that they've partnered with Japan on production, even if we have a Season 3 we international fans will probably not have access.

Can someone give me some tissues?

I loved this movie from the beginning to the very end. already, i was so happy that the story lasted more than 2 hours but if on top of that every part of the movie is interesting, full of emotions and captivating then what more could i ask for? The return of Gav and Cai with more love than in season 1, which i didn't think was possible, and the little development of Terrence and Wesley, which i hope will develop even more in season 2, give me goosebumps. Gavreel's story was so horrible, and I thank his grandmother so much for being there for him. Gav's trauma was so well worked out, knowing that I have a trauma I felt very emotional very quickly when Gavreel went into his own bubble and when he broke down when things changes. That Cairo was there for him, and the beautiful scenes at the beach. The best movie I've ever seen. The scene with the two lovers was so sweet and cute that I couldn't help but feel embarrassed. I had never seen a sex scene so well done to be honest. Besides the last scene with the group was way too sad, I felt like it was the end of Gameboys, but I understand why. But really what touched me the most was the fight between Gavreel and Cairo to know who loves the other more. Those two love each other and I'm waiting for the wedding!
