Keep with it

The first episode I was unsure as I was also watching Kinn and Porsche so in comparison not as steamy. The first episode being the pilot I think they were still trying to figure out the camera work. And when using the nine tails I think the actor was not aware his face was being focused on so that was odd and disconnected from the scene. But after episode one it gets good. Keep with it.

It portraits a story were the lead is acting as one would act in his situation. He is reluctant to get involved with the Mafia world. Wants to be left alone and does not just roll over and give up. Keep watching, the storyline is good I don't feel like episodes are a waste of time, they all have purpose and help develop the story.

Homoerotic Love as a Driving Force for Cinematic Action

I do wish I spoke, or at least read, the Thai language. I have deep suspicions that the subtitles to this series leave something to be desired. And that's a pity, because the storyline is strong. I do like the way in which the threads involving both main characters are introduced and come together from the very first episode.
I've read a few opinions to the effect that "Unforgotten Night" is a weak production, but I do not agree. It's an intriguing production, and, coming on the heels of the outstanding and expensive "KinnPorsche the Series", holds its own very well indeed. There are one or two clumsy moments when, for example in the forecourt of the MC's mansion, a fleeting corner shot shows a camera crew at work (Episode 4 or 5, as one remembers), but these can be accepted, and one imagines that the editors will learn from them.
One of the particularly strong aspects of "Unforgotten Night" is the casting and the general power of the characterisation. From the outset, both main characters demand full audience attention, while the supporting cast, from the largest to the smallest role, are all excellent performers.
They say that working with animals is difficult. You can lose all control of the audience because of "cuteness", and this is very true of "Unforgotten Night", with its inclusion of two excellently trained Bengal tigers. I don't intend to insert a spoiler here, but the look on the face of one of the animals (I think it's a female) when it first spots one of the MCs definitely says: "Pork chop, and it's mine..." No-one should miss this scene.
"Unforgotten Night" reveals the full range of interpersonal conflicts, and the characters continue to develop their individual stories throughout the action in a highly satisfactory manner. Bodyguards can easily become nothing more than stock figures, but in "Unforgotten Night", the main bodyguards take a strong part in the development of the story line, to the extent that one cannot avoid becoming curious about their second-level stories as integral parts of the plot.
The two main characters, Yoon Phusanu Wongsavanischakorn and Ton Saran Anantasetthakul, are powerful throughout, neither dominating over the other, but both showing a personal strength and individual determination which is probably one of the strongest aspects of "Unforgotten Night".
I will be very sorry when this series ends, but it has a definite and very strong re-watch value, which will be of some comfort.

Dollar store Vegas-Pete

Aren't they embarrassed to air this while KP was airing?

I wrote a review about Kinn-Porsche saying that it was basically fetish porn disguised as mafia drama and it was not up to my standards. Well, this one is also disguised (unsuccessfully) as mafia drama, the fetish part was clearly written/executed by someone who knows nothing about BDSM and there was exactly ZERO chemistry between the super toxic (as usual) relationship between the protagonists.

Basically if you have watched 50 shades of Grey prepare yourself for something like that, but worse.

So the main character consists of Kim, a guy who was rejected by someone he was in love with and decided to have a one night stand with Kamol (the mafia boss), without knowing who he is. Afterwards, Kamol becomes obsessed with Kim, declares him the person he has always been searching for and basically acts like Vegas acted with Pete. The problem is that there is NOTHING about Kim that would explain Kamol's obsession.

Unlike KP (especially the novel), that progressively shows multiple rare qualities in Pete (empathetic, good looking, intelligent, loyal, good fighter etc), Kim is the most boring, annoying and avoidant person possible, who treats Kamol like shit most of the time and is clearly not attracted to him. There is zero chemistry between them and after enduring 5 episodes, it's time for me to throw in the towel, because this nonsense isn't getting any better.

Kamol in return, acts like an abuser and stalker who practically forces Kim to live with him. As if all that wasn't enough, there is an annoying, bitchy and unprofessional female ''rival'', who wants Kamol for herself.

To the loser authors: in order for someone to be an interesting rival, there has/had to be something going between them and their love interest. Kamol never wanted this woman and she justs end up acting delusional and repulsive and adds nothing to the plot.

The soundtrack is also so awful, that I had to mute it at times and I have never done this before, although I have watched many BLs.

Don't even bother with this nonsense drama.

The Best Ever Drama

I have watched this drama/serie , call it what you want.
In my opinion this is the best and the hottest drama that you could ever find.
I fell in love with the actor who played the Mafia Boss and i literaly fell of my chair when i was waching the first episode. I love this drama so so much. All actors are fantastic but the main lead actor and his companion made me love the BL drama so much more. I love the actor that played the character Mafia Boss and he is my official idol. He is my only idol.
He is an amazing actor and he is lucky to have a partner if i am correct by his side in reality .
I really really want to see more dramas with Yoon Phusanu Wongsavanischakorn ! He is such a handsome, intelligent and amazing actor.
He is the only nr.1 actor on my list of actors that i love so so much. He is the star in my list . He is the best ever.

Popcorn Drama. Nothing more, nothing less.

I highly debated rating this series 6.0 because the story was a mess from beginning to end and the chemistry just wasn't there for me. Could Yoon and Ton be anymore awkward/uncomfortable together? And man both the kissing scenes and the NC scenes were laughable. But I digress. Ultimately I went with a 6.5 because I realized as much as the story made me scratch my head many many times I didn't hate it as much as I originally thought I would. I found something funny in every episode while that was intentional or not, I had a fun time watching. Unlike Enchante,(the only other series I've rated 6.5) I didn't find the story dreary or any of the characters unlikable. I pretty much enjoyed all of them, esp if I saw them as parodies. The characters often didn't make sense but I could understand as long as I still found the situation funny, which I did. The cast did the best they could even if I felt all of them could have done better: Yoon: cough.

There were times I felt like I was watching a Mexican Telenovela which again ramped UN up in the entertainment value. And that's why I call this a popcorn drama. It's mindless entertainment set to make people have a good time, forget troubles and despite it's flaws Unforgotten Night did that. I'm gonna miss this chaos for that reason. Now what am I gonna watch to laugh at? And enjoy? I guess time will tell.

I hope Unforgoten Night serves as a sample of what not to do in a series, while not as bad as Check Out it could have been so much better. The production really dropped the ball on this one.

Pursuing your crush

I would say this drama is going pretty well, I can see the main lead “Kamol” caring about “Kim” and as it progresses they start to have chemistry and I just love everything about it I have no complaints I just can’t wait for other episodes to be aired, and another thing j would like to say is how cute Kamol could be with Kim but when it comes to other people he’s all mean and tough and of course everybody would want a man like that and it’s also cute how Kim acts all shut around him

Awful

Another reviewer articulated much better than I can. So I will just succinctly say this: it was awful. Not even guilty pleasure awful either. Just overall awful. Awful acting, awful production, awful music, awful choice of actors for the roles, awful insult to the mafia and Lakorn genres, awful for the reputation of BLs, awful representation of BDSM, and awful screenplay. Awful waste of time. Just skip it and watch KinnPorsche instead. Since this review requires 500 words, I will also say amateurish.

I've never hated a show more

So... It's not done airing but I give up.

I could deal with the bad acting & bad writing, lack of chemistry, nonsensical plot & miscasting of the mafia lead for the first few episodes coz it was so bad, it was actually enjoyable BUT now it has the audacity to also be boring.

I just need to stop watching coz I'm genuinely starting to hate this show😭

How is an episode about manipulation, kidnapping & b0mb scares BORING? HOW?!?!? 😭

I don't care for this couple at all.
All I wanted was to know that Baiboon is legal & to see Kim go back to work. ✌🏾

Umm what?

OK I get it it's only the first 4 episodes but where's the mafia part??
Like I didn't read the summary when I started watching this so I just thought that Kamol was just a big businessman who somehow needed bodyguards?

I personally didn't get the "mafia" vibes from anyone, except Evan had some signs of being a mafia member/leader but Kamol? No mafia vibes from him.
(Edit: after completing some mafia related things did happen, but later in it)

The tattoo that Kamol has is quite bad, like who thought that the tattoo would look good especially when he has no other tattoos on his body (that we know of).

(Also did no one notice that one scene where Kims contact lense was moving around or was it just me?)

The BDSM aspect of the series is not really realistic considering neither Kamol nor Kim said anything about a safe word, which is important if a relationship has aspects of BDSM. Also I felt like the consent part was a little bit dubious at some points.

You really cannot compare this series to kinnporsche, like some have, since the budgets are very different and how much time and effort was put into KP.

I'd say that this is not the worst BL, I have watched but it definitely is at the top but I do admit that I have skipped most of the parts in the episodes because of the lack of good dialog and emotions, which makes this series cringey.

But some positives: the side couple(s) is/are kind of cute, storyline was nice

(Edit : I was in the feels when writing this review lololol so mind that)

Why not BDSM for a change :)

The Cast: Ton Saran Anantasatthakul as Kim (aka the “Sub”) is relatively new in acting and even though his play is not ready for an Oskar, he does fit the role. I like that he is independent, comes from a good, loving family, has a good job and friends. Why is that important? Because often for BDSM roles the plot revolves around “broken” or at least “damaged” characters.
I like the storyline that revolves around him. It seems realistic: He is heartbroken, he seems to be sick of it and wants to go back to normal. There comes this mysterious man who offers him a way out. “Can you make me forget his hug?” - sometimes a new experience can definitely help. (But outside of a drama plot you should NEVER just go with someone you never met before! Bad idea!!!)
Yoon Phusanu-Wongsavanischakorn as Mr. Kamol the Mafia Business Owner (aka “the Top”). He is not so fresh to acting anymore. I don’t want to go to much in detail about their acting, cause for this show we can agree it’s not top noch, still enjoyable, that goes for Ton as well as for Yoon. Let’s talk about his role as Mr. Kamol:
I did read some bad review on his part, because of his physic and way of acting that does not fit the description in the Novel. I did not read the Novel, so I cannot compare that but I think it is also very cliché that a “Top” in BDSM has to be super muscular, heavier, taller or whatever to be good. A lot in BDSM can be just psychological and has nothing to do with physical dominance.
So I like him being not so muscular and more on the mind-game side. Mr Kamol is someone who has learned that he can achieve anything if he sets his mind to it. He is ruthless in his business and used to get whatever he wants. In the little private time he has, he wants to follow his passion and find someone who fits his needs.
So in the bar he sees that pretty boy and just goes for it.
Now I jump over the BDSM Play that we get to see on the first episode. There was already a lot said about what a bad display it is of BDSM. But I think: a) Who did really think we’re going to see a real BDSM Play? B) There is no right or wrong in Sexplay.
As long as it’s safe, both want it and enjoy it everything is good. So I find it a bit pointless to talk wether this was a good example of BDSM play or not.
What was good so was the fact that Mr. Kamol made sure that Kim is not drunk and really wants to try whatever he is going to do. He obviously is not a good person. But I’m happy with him being all about consensual sex. He is also not letting uncontrolled emotion out on Kim. He seems to enjoy BDSM just because it is his preference.
Kims reaction is also realistic. And fun to watch.
Now let’s talk about their chemistry: I really like it! It’s all about their eyes. I totally agree that the kissing is well - we saw better kissing. But the looks they give each other are really enticing. I hope to see more of that.
They are very blunt to each other. I’m quite annoyed of the same misunderstandings we get to see in a lot of BL series, because no one talks about what hey really want. Here we have Mr. Kamol: “I like you - come and live with me.” , and Kim: “Are you nuts? Who wants to get involved with a mafia? Leave me alone.” - well that does not work of course.

What about privacy rights?
Mr. Kamol is kind of a stalker. His behavior is not okay in the real world. As for my part: I’m here for the show. I like the dynamic. But that is up to preference.

Side couples: So far I see two side couples. Kim’s best friend De or Day who broke is heart and is now happy in love with his boyfriend Ith. They are a cute couple. I hope we learn a bit more about their relationship and what actually Day’s job is. Cause he seems to have a connection with Mr. Kamol.
The other one could maybe be the first Assistant of Mr. Kamol and the nephew of the head housekeeper (sorry I forgot their names). Let’s see what happens there.

And I cannot forget the two lady’s working with Kim in the office. I LOVE them. They really bring a lot of Charme to the plot.

The Mafia side of things.: Well it’s not “The Godfather “ and I don’t know anything about mafia in Thailand, so I cannot say a lot about this. Their is a story though and that’s good. We actually see Mr. Kamol working a lot! Obviously he wants to build a new casino and is fishing for Investors while his opponent Denai is doing the same. ( This side character is a bit comical ) They basically try to steal this project for themselves and using mafia-style methods to do so.

The conclusion: It’s just episode four, so there is way to go to say where this show ends up. I had no expectation whatsoever and I guess this is why I like it. The idea of the story is better than the execution in some parts, but overall it is consistent.
We have a Main Couple with good chemistry, a storyline that makes me want to see more and every character in the drama has a unique side to them. They really add to the story.
For me: 8.5 out of 10.

Edit follows after the series ended.

Should have been named Forgettable Night

So as someone that doesn't usually leave reviews when I don't enjoy something this is new for me. But I can't understand how this still has a user rating of almost 7 stars?!? Like HOW?! If you just want a quick should you watch it or no the answer is NO! don't waist your time on this awful drama you are not missing out you can get the highlights from youtube if you want to see a certain scene from the book. But trust me this drama should be cancelled its terrible across the board. Lets get into why I didn't like it what could make it better and why I won't be continuing it.

Story:

The basic storyline is not bad having a passionate and wild bdsm night with a stranger really could have made an amazing story and with a twist of mafia how could you not be drawn in. However from the get go it was lack-luster I had hoped from the trailer that it would be well done and something that shows a better representation of BDSM and relationships. But what we ended up with was a watered down version of someones idea of good torture prawn? Either way if you have read anything of the translation of the books you will know that the night they had together was alot more intense and laid out then the hysterical representation done in this drama. From the terrible placement of bdsm gear to not knowing how to even use it the whole night is laughable at best it really should be called 'Forgettable Night' because no one wants to remember that monstrosity!

How could it be better then... well first of all put time and effort into learning from people in the bdsm community about how things work and why. Don't do a quick google search and think you know everything because a watpad fanfiction told you so. The story itself has serious potential to have done very well if it had been handled correctly. Now before everyone comes for me saying dramas can't shoot prawn thats not what I'm talking about you can do alot of great angles and hides etc to draw erotic tension between characters and change mood for scenes even with actors completely clothed. You also can do alot of workshops with actors to help get them comfortable working together or touching eachother in general all of these things are what make dramas good. Also its a book thats main storyline comes from a one night stand you would expect this to be heavier on the steamy, erotic and kink side instead of this weird awkward highschool kid dance we got going on.

Acting:

I think they could have done a better job hunting down the cast I'm not saying who they picked is awful but they don't seem to have real chemistry and everything feels uncomfortably forced or laughably bad. I don't know if its because they are to close in height or looks but it just doesn't feel mafia at all its more like one is playing dressup. The scenes with any kind of kissing or play tend to fall flat I mean lets not forget the faces made on that supposed 'unforgettable night' so bad so very bad.. I don't know if the actors were not told beforehand the kind of scenes and content that where going to be included or if they maybe thought it would not be included for some reason but it all just seems very uncomfortable for all parties involved. I think this does come down to the fact they maybe needed more workshops or better direction etc its hard to tell for sure but I can't possibly stomach trying to watch anymore of this awful work.

Music:

Not much to really say here is okay-ish but scenes that need it kind of feel like it wasn't the right mood or sound for what was happening and the opening closing really doesnt stand out at all for me.

Rewatch Value :Nill don't waste your time watching it even once check out the clips on youtube instead if you have something in the books you really are hoping is in the drama.

Overall:

I was really disappointed to see that they did this story so badly, I don't know if they were trying to rush it because Kinnporsche was being aired and they wanted to run with the desire for more mafia BL and get views or what? I really don't know but even if you have not seen Kinnporsche and have nothing similar to compare this BL to its a very poorly done and its better to forget it then give it the time of day this one needs to be laid to rest and never see the light of the internet again its just so bad...laughably so.

Chill Series

I really like the way they did not put too much cliff hangers and over all a chill series that make you fall especially Kim smile.
The way they are acting is so calm and composed. The story revolves around its main focus really and never became stray from its goal which you can witness it in the end.
Talk about Trust, Love, Lust, Understanding, Openness, and Time to Heal something that is broken and to move forward on what's to come
