So bad it's good? No. Just plain awful.

Well, that happened.

You know how a lot of BLs have eight episodes-worth of story stretched out to 12 and have 4 totally unnecessary characters that just chew up time? Well, this series has 4 epsiodes of story stretching into 18 with 40 totally unnecessary characters that just chew up time.

So again we have Fluke Natouch paired with a talking mannequin that makes him cry a lot. That's OK, though, because we have the sublimely handsome Peterpan Thasapon and Noh Phouluang, who I had thought was dull because he was in Nitiman, but he's actually really sexy and appealing, and together they make one of the better BL couples I've seen in a while.

So naturally, they're separated for literally half the series and their story is resolved offscreen. This is so frustrating that it's hard to express how much, especially as I had to wade though 9 episodes of utterly static story hoping to get more Rain and Payoo - but nope. They did manage to introduce an entirely new couple in episode 17, but no Rain & Payoo. There are 5 secondary couples. Only one of them gets together.

Nothing in this makes sense. All the characters' lives are perpetually in danger, accentuated with truly OTT music cues, and since you know nothing bad can ever happen to anyone, even if they jump out of an exploding helicopter from 50 meters in the air (this happens), there are no stakes. Ohm's character's brain is bleeding for 9 episodes, and instead of hospitalizing him and having bodyguards protect him, he's dumped in the middle of nowhere for three months to engage in archery and equestrian sports. Is it a good idea to race horses when your brain is bleeding? I don't know - I'm not an expert, but intuitively it feels like a bad idea. Fluke will die unless he eats apples. You know this because whenever he goes without one for too long, he melodramatically clutches his heart and keels over. Or at least that's what I think causes it. He's an uke, so it could be sunlight, or walking, or maybe he didn't dry his hair thoroughly enough.

Speaking of which, we reach a new low this series when an uke manages to cut himself with a butter knife. I'm waiting for one of them to accidentally garotte himself while trying to floss.

Whoever wrote this series doesn't know anything about music, despite it being about musicians. They couldn't even be bothered to get a real cellist - it's all synthesized, and sounds like a casio keyboard from the 1980s.

I think we've gotten to the point in Thai BL where we need some self-examination. Are we really so desperate that we're willing to be exploited like this by productions that aren't even trying anymore? This story is infantile. I'm not exaggerating, it feels like it was written by a 12-year old (no offense to 12-year olds - I realize most of you could have written a better story than this). It's so boring, repetitive, poorly thought-out, overstuffed with characters and endless melodrama that it's just tiring.

Story: 1 - There is one, sort of.
Acting: 5 - This is generous. Peterpan and Noh have a certain presence in the first half. Fluke cries a lot, and Ohm is there. Everyone else is passable and the villainess (the villain of the story is hidden. It's a big mystery. Who could it be?) would be twirling her mustache if she could. She almost literally shouted "And I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for those pesky kids!!!"
Music: 1 - it's awful. Oppressively schmalzy, with overblown dramatic cues, MY brain was bleeding by the end listening to that synthesized cello.
Rewatch value: 3 - There are a lot of hot guys in this, so there are individual scraps I'd watch again.
Overall: 3 - probaby generous, but the first half did have a "so bad it's good" vibe. Then it just got bad.

The script needed a red apple

Honestly for me, the only (and most) enjoyable part of this series was ragging on it in the comments with the other fans/prisoners of this show.

Like I think they had pieces there to make a good series for me. But it just didn't happen. I'm totally fine with slow burn and build up and tension building, but this series was ridiculous. It was so repetitive but also literally nothing happened. A lot of cryptic comments and stares and standoffs. It was an ugly love dodecagon of people pining over people who were obviously uninterested in them because the liked someone else.

Then at some point, we get one of the most one dimensional villains ever who was campy and almost fun but for the low ceiling of this series. Her motivations were non-existent. Her plans were kill her way to the top and then rule with an iron fist, except she had 3 goons who couldn't find 2 people living in pretty much the most obvious place to search for them.

This series was just.... a mess.

Peterpan and Noh were stealing the show but then the "plot" came for them and they separated and this slow af series got even slower. I really want to see them in another show.

The fencers were frustrating as they both were chasing each other sorta, and other people sorta, and one was so mean for no well defined reason to the other one. Then they end up banging outside a house party.

Sun and his MANY cardiac events and red apples and fainting and grimacing. Like dude.
Also at some point, I swear, they gave Kim psychic powers or something like that. Like literally? Maybe? It was very unclear. But it seemed like he had powers. Maybe that's why his brain was bleeding and he was losing memories later.

I don't know.

I still think Snow White was behind it all. That would have honestly made this series make sense.

Please Peterpan take another role in a different series.
Kan too.

Oh my... Not som much logic... but light?

To be able to watch this drama you are going to have to discard any hint of logic... and by that I mean you may just want to think of this as a fantasy drama as there is more or less nothing that makes any sense at all.. be it human relations, pace, medically... you name it the logic is just not there.

The pace of this drama varies to slow, very slow, fast as ***, to so slow you do not understand how they are going to be able to wrap this up in just a few episodes to slooow with fast peaks... I guess it is i form of interval training in a drama... Having relationships go from I hate you, I love this other dude, in more or less 10-15 episodes (give or take) to we are never ever gonna be together, to now I shall kiss you... to naked in less than 60 seconds with little variation for most of the couples.. there is also a hint of Who are you, do I know you and get the *** away.. to kiss, to naked, to get the f*** away again... Entertaining at times, draggy at times... Highly inconsistent and a bit of an anti climax I guess...

That said there are a lot of fun icicle moments, behind the scenes helping, complete lack of communication skills and some secretly romantic moments. Some of those are really sweet and good. There are also a bunch of shower scenes... lots and lots of shower scens... And pretty views. Some highly predictable evil and action. Some less predictable twists here and there . A lot of apples... so many apples that it should come with a warning eating to many apples can damage your health so do not try this at home, If you are experiencing problems with you heart please go see a doctor...

I am not going to say that this was good, nor so bad it was good bu tit was okay... nothing I would highly recommend but nothing I regret watching either. What I do regret was starting this a few weeks before it finished airing as most of the characters were not memorable enough for me to remember who some of them were once I got back to watching the last episodes. So if you do watch it do not let too much time pass between the episodes.

I tried making something with emojis... but only a few work I see some people like emojis so here are some hearts to all of those who watch this brains, I know you need them:

Oh So Slow! Why extended to 20 episodes

I have just watched Episode 15 thinking it was the last one. I could not believe what I was watching when I realised that this was not the last episode - not least because we obviously weren't going to see the boat trip. This series could have been wound up easily in the originally advertised 15 episodes.

This is not the first time that this has happened recently. Clearly the producers are getting good sponsorship and/or advertising revenue and decided to lengthen the series. This is so unprofessional and really bad thinking. When this is over all that people will remember is the poor ending of this series when it had so much going for it.

This is the second casting of Fluke with Ohm and the dynamic between the two of them works really well. However they wind this series up will just dampen the feelings we had for their relationship. A final explosion of joy and romance will be split between the couples and end as a damp squib.

I was pleased to see the parents killed off - not least as these well known and 'experienced' older generation thai actors are really awful. This is not just bad directing, a good actor wouldn't be playing all those reaction shots so woodenly.

I despair.

PS
I now see that Ongart Singlumpong also was the producing director of Unforgotten Night. Another show that could have been great and just tailed away at the end. Although I did find that kidnapping and consequently showing coerced sexual activity (a kidnapped person cannot consent) is something I cant believe teenage girls would want to be treated! Somehow if you are gay your body becomes an object for other people's desires to be expended on.

Worthwhile? Mmm, no.

Tbh, i never understood why people ship ohm and fluke. I never got anything from them... In UWMA they didn't have anything and they are so freaking mismatched. Ive watched the series for WinTeam. And lets be honest, UWMA had a good story... Unlike this one. So its not the same old "oh, they're good but the plot didn't help". No!
Back to this one... I started to watch it after i saw some short videos with payoo and rain. They kept the series afloat even though someone decided to just shun them somewhere in the nowhere for a number of episodes. I just binge watched 5 episodes or so to finish it already because i just do not like to leave things unfinished but my god, how i struggled. Fluke is crying, Ohm is a walking mannequin and the story sucks. There, i said and I'm not even sorry.
Just no. I didn't like it and i think OhmFluke are too overrated.
Watch at your own risk!

It probably couldn't get worse that this!!

Okay, so let me start with Ohm and Fluke. I watched them in Until We Meet Again, then in Close Friends 1 and 2 and finally in 609 Bedtime Stories. And now my fifth drama. I am appalled at the amount of tears Fluke spills. How much can one single person cry over a span of 5 series! Unappealing to say the least and disappointing to say the worst. Why everyone feels they are they an awesome pair is beyond me.

Acting: Ohm really needs to work on getting rid of his wooden face. He is easy on the eye, But definitely not actor material, because he cannot act. In UMWA, it was ok, because his role as Dean and the story required him to be a bit aloof from others but melt for Pharm, but by this time, I am kind of fed up of this flood of disaster.
Let's talk about Fluke. He is seriously coming into his own. He has been an actor for long enough that his skills are being honed well. But I am wondering, isn't he bored of the depressing roles that he is doing? For once, I want to see him in something happy.
I am not going to talk about other characters because there were too many to keep track and I kind of lost their threads after a while. I would have like to see more of Rain and Payu, but honestly, I am still under the LITA fever so, no other Rain and Payu for me except Noeul and Boss. Couple of the kissing scenes were great between them. But okay, nothing to write home about. The villain was undeservedly and unnecessarily pathetic. No meat on her, like she was there for some comedy under veiled threats.

Story: There was one, I think. I don't know. I got lost in the insane amount of plots and sub-plots and sub-sub-plots. In some places, I felt like there was no continuation and the story just skipped parts. I was appalled also at the lack of scientific knowledge of the script writers. How the hell does eating an apple keep heart failure away? They took 'An apple a day, keeps the doctor away' idiom to the bloody next level. And how could possibly someone with a bleeding brain do sports? There was nothing appealing about this story at all.

Music: Sucked big time, in the sense that, there was nothing entertaining about it. It was regular, run off the mill music that was disappointingly cheesy and lacklustre. No words.

Rewatch value: Will I watch this series again? Not even if you threaten me with possible death. I had rather die than watch such crappy work. I will need a dose of a happier drama if I need to get my head out of this one.

Recommendation: If you are a glutton for punishment, go ahead, but at your own peril. Don't say I didn't warn you. Good luck. Otherwise, walk away. Best decision possible. Don't be fooled by instagram videos.

Tropes: university, sickness, fated mates, whipping boy, poor little rich boy, soap opera

Kim, a tsundere musician meets Sun, a transfer student with a weak heart. Also there’s his hot older brother + their household servant, and a couple of fencers for good measure. An absolute soap opera that pretends to be a normal university BL at the start, then slips on wet tiles and falls right on trough multiple shower scenes into ludicrous soap opera territory leaving one with a sensation rather like trying to hold onto soap in a communal shower. Ultimately, everyone seems pretty happy they bent over, but no one actual got clean.

Damn… the most sluggish storyline ever.. could have been better !!

my rating of 5.5 is for the cast.. they deserve that at least .. 5/10 for cast only for their effort.. 0.5/10 for everything else.. what a waste of resources .. could have been better with the script and everything but nooo… had to drag every single thing slower than a snail… this series had a good budget from what I see with the production but the script / storyline a big slap to the actors and what not… Top on my list the most ff and boring series I watched.. .. so many fkn annoying & irritating scenes but I had started it and just wanted to see the end.. gosh .. I was going to leave the rewatch value empty but dramatist says no.. give at least 1 star lmaooo.. NEVER AGAIN !!

I love it

The story was slow paced but one you get past the slow pace you will see that it's such an amazing drama with very good actors. I really love it and recommend it

I've liked OhmFluke since Until we meet again. Whenever they act together their chemistry is out of this world. Rain and Payoo did great as well even though they didn't have much screentime. I would have loved to see Kim and Sun relationship progress further but nonetheless it was still an amazing series

I really hope we will see more of Ohm and Fluke's work.

Those complaining about 18 episodes should take a rest. I wish it will go on and on forever 😂😂😂 that's how much I liked it

This is what a drama should be!

This drama was done in the style of the old Friday night American dramas from the '80s. It seemed to start off as a typical university BL, but better, because it dealt with a variety of people and their problems without taking away from the main leads. However, at times it did give us a break from the mains to focus on the side characters, which helped to round out the story. It built up to the grand finale with flashbacks intermixing with current events, helping the audience to understand what was motivating the characters.

I am flabbergasted at the low ratings for this drama, but I have to thank them. I waited to watch this drama because many people said it wasn't good. So when I got around to watching, I was able to binge the whole thing instead of waiting each week....which I would have done, had I started it when it was airing, because it's so good. But I might have been less excited for it if I had to wait for the weekly episodes, as some of them were slower than others. Still, I would have enjoyed it....

....because:
There was plot and plot progression ....and a whole-a** villain! There were love scenes and heartbreaks and symbolism and foreshadowing and sacrifice! There were guns and bows and horses and cellos! (at least one of each. LOL) There was a hero saving the (not so) damsel in distress.....there was conflict, revenge, and resolution. And the acting!!! The acting was phenomenal! Except for the villain. The villain was very....villain-esque. At some points, I almost expected the villain to cackle with witchy laughter and say, "I'll get you, my pretties!" LOL But, you know, it's....fine. There were enough other characters who did a good job to keep my rating at a 10.

I'll definitely be revisiting this drama. There was the real-world problem of everyone having a crush on everyone else and having to navigate through all the emotions to find someone to be happy with. Now that I know all the characters, I can rewatch their interactions with more interest.

Moral of the story is: Judge it for yourself. For me, it's a 10.

I liked it more than some viewers, but...

Like many of you, I looked forward to OMSN because I enjoyed Ohm/Fluke in Until We Meet Again. While I'm not sorry to have watched this series, it was frustrating from time to time. Here are my pros and cons:

PROS

FLUKE (& OHM). Despite a very weak script, Fluke still managed to prove that his acting is on a far superior level to most BL actors. It just is. As for Ohm, I was pleased to see a lot of growth in his range of acting, especially in the later episodes.

CINEMATOGRAPHY. There were a number of locations, both indoor and outdoor, which I found aesthetically pleasing.

PETERPAN. His role as Payoo was rather dull and static, but he sure is pretty to look at.

OLDER ACTORS. The actors in mature roles played their parts professionally.

CONS

STORY, STORY, STORY. Okay, I was willing to overlook that Sun relied solely on apples to combat his severe medical heart condition. (I just thought of him as a Christian Scientist who doesn't believe in taking medicine. And maybe the apples DID help.) And I accepted the really bad faking of playing musical instruments. I won't go into all the abysmal problems with the story itself, it would take far too long (and you can read all about them in the discussion boards). There were some interesting ideas but, far too often, they just got dropped. It was as if the scriptwriters began filming with only about 3 episodes finished, and then scrambled to write something as the series went along. Really bad.

LENGTH. It was six episodes too long. WHY?? (Until We Meet Again suffered from the same treatment, even though it was a much better series.) Unless each episode is riveting and significantly advances the plot (which was not the case here), it just pisses viewers off.

KIM'S UNDERWATER MEDITATION SESSIONS. His ability to hold his breath underwater put every synchronized swimmer in the world to shame. Don't try this at home, kids.

THE RAIN CHARACTER. I know I'm really in the minority, but I did not like Rain at all. I found his character boring, spineless, and totally lacking in charisma. He led Shun on to make Payoo jealous and then just dumped Shun with no real explanation. A big yawn from me. I would rather have seen Payoo end up with Shun. Rain can go become a Buddhist monk for the rest of his life.

This could have been really good. Unfortunately, the writers and directors dropped the ball.

It's a 5.0 from me.
