ENEMIES TO FAKE DATING TO LOVERS!!!

I LOVED THIS DRAMA SO SO SO SO MUCH!!!!

It literally felt like I was reading a contemporary romance book, down to the tropes and everything. The enemies to fake dating to lovers is gonna hit every single time!!! Everything about this drama was chef's kiss. It was the perfect mixture of comedy and romance... you can't help but fall in love with the characters. I also couldn't take them seriously because they were so outrageously hilarious. The banter / discourse between the opposing viewpoints of men and women was refreshing. I found myself thinking wow that's really how men view women and vice versa.

Mi Ran has my entire heart!!! We love a badass heroine who puts men in their place. I adored how Kang Ho balanced her out perfectly. It's like both of them finally met their match and sparks just flew – LITERALLY. The chemistry between them was off the chartsssssss.

I also loved the second lead couple, they were cute... when they got together I'm sure we all screamed FINALLY. His pretty woman moment was so adorable fr!!!

I would recommend this to friends because it was so light hearted and easy to watch / binge in one day. If you are in a drama slump this drama is for you. You literally feel the episodes fly by so quickly one minute your at episode 1 and the next you're at episode 10. Now that I'm finished I am thinking of watching it again.

I gave it an 8.5 out of 10 simply because I felt like I needed more, the episodes were super fast paced which was good at first especially if you have a short attention span like me, but...I felt like they wrapped up the drama so quickly between episodes 9 and 10 especially. The third act conflict just jumped out of nowhere fr after the leads were having such a great time in love and being together which was kind of sad and unnecessary imo.

Either way it's a drama I needed to just sit back, relax and have a nice laugh. I literally couldn't stop smiling because it was so freaking cute!!!

Warning: If you're single this drama is gonna make you feel even more so like I cannot emphasize it enough. The way the couple is with each other is just aajhskjs!!!

If you haven't binge watched this yet you need to hop on the train and do so immediately!!

LOVE TO HATE YOU IS THE ROM-COM DRAMA YOU NEED IN YOUR LIFE <3

A complete rom-com fit for 2023.

This is my first time reviewing a series on MDL and I start now because I just really felt the need to tell people how great I found this series. I have marked it spoiler as a precaution because I might end up spoiling unknowingly.

This kdrama's ensemble of characters looks like this - an independent and confident female lead, an open and understanding male lead, a very fine second male lead who is the best bro a man could have, and a very caring and supportive second female lead who is just a tad bit self-doubting.

The story has everything from hilarious little bits, to toe-curling scenes, moments of hate and moments of understanding alike. A little thing to dislike is the pacing in the very last 2 episodes BUT I entered watching this knowing the pacing might suffer due to the short length of the series and it'd be wise of everyone else to do so too. Because otherwise the show's storyline, plot points everything was on point.

My very favourite part about the series is that the female lead has not been shown as a troubled damsel of any sorts, neither has she been forcibly empowered. She is a hard-worker and good at her job. And she lives her life as she wants without much concern for judgement of others.
The male lead is wary of women for he has only ever met the manipulative ones, but after meeting the female lead, he starts understanding her and liking her for exactly who she is. And THE VERY MOST IMPORTANT THING is that he RESPECTS her. Which is perfect because for the female lead hearing 'I respect you' is more important than hearing 'I love you.'

And I feel this year in 2023 I think we should strive for this sort of kdrama, one which emphasizes on the mutual respect required in a relationship. Because we have seen enough love, hate, hate-to-love, but all of that is useless when there is no respect in the foundation of the relationship.

Hilariously entertaining

The story is very entertaining. 1st episode is funny, second episode is funnier and the rest is enjoyable. This is not annoying anti women/men love story.. The male lead is a popular actor that has an adonis reputation but the truth is he dislikes women, and vice versa for Female lead who is a lawyer. Where she ended up working in a law firm dominated by men. And that’s how they met, It’s worth watching. You won’t be sorry. The casts have good chemistry. They’re all good actors, they played their roles really well. It’s funny how the men and women are totally opposites from the female parents to main leads.

Reminded me of old rom-coms

It's been so long since I watched a good K-Romcom, this reminded me of how this genre used to feel. Delightful from beginning to end, with charismatic characters, super cute and sexy moments, and the right amount of angst. I laughed and clapped through it the way I used to. 10 points.
I didn't know the cast and was blown away by the ML, hoping he gets more main roles as he knocked it out of the park (plus he has younger Hyun Bin vibes all over, which got me double excited). This proves we don't need huge productions with well-known names, but good storylines filled with chemistry.

Missed the mark just a bit...

This review contains spoilers. You've been warned. ;)

The female lead of this show is marketed as a capable, feminist attorney seeking justice against men for all the wronged females of the world with her fists of fury and clever one liners. It's supposed to be a more feminist romantic comedy, and while I think it hits some good points and highlights some of the injustices and slights women face daily... it really missed the mark in the end for me.

I would've loved more of seeing Mi-Ran growing to use the law and her intelligence to take down crappy dudes rather than her fists. Also, I really didn't like how she caved to the pressure from toxic fans and broke up with Kang-Ho, and additionally how she handled the reunion with Kang-Ho. I know she was under an immense amount of pressure, but that whole piece didn't feel true to her character. ALSO, I hated that the things that turned the tide of public opinion in the end was her ex-boyfriend's defense of her on that sleezy celebrity gossip show. I mean, was it an incredibly sweet gesture? Yes. It totally made me tear up that her law firm bros defended her like that. However, in the end of this "feminist" drama, a man had to explain the situation to save the day. Also, they end the drama with her chasing those cat-calling drunks down the street? Mi-Ran, with all that is now at stake, please use your words as weapons instead.

Anyway, it may sound like I hated this drama. I really didn't. But all of that did really bother me about this one, and will keep it from being a rewatch.

So things I liked? All four main leads were incredible and well-cast. Kang-Ho's gentleness and loyalty made him an absolute dream. It had some truly hilarious moments (Kang-Ho's face after he kicked his sandal into something breakable off-camera had me gasping). I loved the bromance. I loved the 2nd lead's romance. Kang-Ho's first confession made my heart flutter. Soo-Jin was an absolute QUEEN, and all of her outfits were absolutely incredible.

Anyway, in conclusion. It was a drama that was a lot of fun, but I think some of the drama's messages didn't quite land in the end.

Can't stop smilling

Finally, there is a Korean drama with a rom-com genre that makes you can't stop smiling without thinking too hard. After watching the first episode, you can't wait to continue watching the next one until it's suddenly the last one.

It tells the story of an actor named Nam Kang-Ho who has trauma from his past and thinks women are manipulative creatures. But all his opinions change when he meets a lawyer named Yeo Mi-ran. Because of a scandal, they agree to become contract partners and eventually fall in love with each other.

An adult love story with an on-point storyline it's not boring at all to watch, we want more!! 10 episodes are not enough.
Highly recommended for those who need a light drama on weekends because this drama is a distraction amid Korean dramas lately whose stories are heavy.

A Cliche Done Right!

The premise of this drama is totally cliche but wow, they sure made it fun and cute despite that! I am usually wary about trying cliche dramas like this but I watched the trailer and sensed their chemistry immediately. It was also a plus that all episodes are released at once and it is only 10 episodes.

After watching episode 1, the plot picks up quite fast; there are many funny scenes and many sound effects. Normally I don't like those sounds but it added to the scene and I actually found it quite enjoyable. It could be overbearing to some though. I liked the way the plot developed the characters and their relationships, and it was clear the motives behind their actions. There is a lot of comedy and absurd funny scenes throughout the 10 episodes but they weren't too bad to watch and I laughed a lot at some of them. Some of them really cheer you up. The romance was also nicely paced but I would have liked them to have more sweet moments and fake dating moments so I can see more of this couple. I felt that they could have had more sweet moments :( The second couple was a bit lacking but they were still cute sometimes too. It was my first time watching both of these actors and they did great! There weren't any moments where I felt like they didn't deliver the emotions or were disconnected from their characters. The friendships are also quite touching, especially the male lawyers at the firm. The drama overall also focuses a lot on the problems in society with patriarchal beliefs about women, which I found nice.

As someone who usually stays away from romcoms like this, I have to say that this drama was a pretty good watch and I enjoyed it a lot. It was nice to see this couple and their cute moments. I recommend!

Charming, but the "all men are misogynist jerks" became a bit tiresome.

It's unusual that I have an entire day to spend watching a k-drama, but circumstances allowed today when it was released. The story is the standard enemies to lovers with "fake date" contract somewhere in the middle.

ML and FL were entertaining, charming and enjoyable, and nothing cringey about supporting cast. I liked the
ML character (Nam Kang Ho) far more than the FL character (Yeo Mi Ran), and I think it's because he was the one that developed/evolved - she was pretty stuck in her original persona.

My one big negative - except for the ML and SML, most of the adult men were drunks or cheaters or silly or unprofessional or. . . .choose a stereotypical Korean male jerk and there were several of them in this movie. It was VERY tiresome. And, of course, most of the women were strong-willed, bold, fearless. The female lawyer was THE brilliant strategist (male lawyers not allowed to be smart - just jerks).

Netflix made the right decision to release all at once - if this was offered merely on a weekly basis, I would probably have stopped along Ep. 4 and not bothered to watch the series until all episodes were released. Unlike my current favorite "Crash Course in Romance" - I eagerly await next episodes.

too much feminism destroying a funny idea

After reading the headline you are probably thinking : "He must be a misogynistic a**!". While it is true that I'm a straight guy I certsinly have nothing against strong women. Rather the opposite: I advocate for equal rights, payment and opportunities for both. However this series is utter bul***it.
No seriously. The entire message of the series was: All men -except maybe 2 - are lying, cheating, wife-beating idiots that look down on women. And while it is true that some men are like that, it is infact even sexist to portray it like that. Additionally it was saying all women are victims and it is okay to cheat on men and even beat them up. There was one icident where the FL saw a High-School student entering the house of the ML, which is why she literally beat him up later. Not only was the girl who entered his house his niece, but the FL never apoligized after finding out. Furthermore all her cheating on her previous bfs was literally justified with " yeah but she's a nice person".
Someone on the internet once said " a strong female character isn't someone who is strong because they are a woman, but someone who is strong and happens to be a woman" With this FL it was the first case.
All that mentioned above is why I think that good acting and aa nice idea, was ruined by cra**y writing.

Overall good :]

For a short netflix kdrama I'd say its good.

The plot isnt confusing if anything its pretty straightfoward in a good way of course!

I think the main female really did carry the show though. The energy her character brought in really hooked me personally making me feel like watching the next episodes.
It doesnt feel too cliche well atleast to me it felt that way! Then again that might just depend on your taste if its cliche or not so keep that in mind.

For 10 episodes I think the pacing was pretty good actually the plot line doesnt feel to slow or to fast! Doenst feel like there many plot holes either which you gotta appreciate. They provide enough backstory on both main leads and the side characters also get their amount of plot.

Overall the show is just exactly what its description say it would be about. It was full with some humor parts and overall can be taken very lightly.

Very cringey, not sure why highly rated

Strong female lead, but narrative is very "pick-me girl", not feminist. Both main and second couple's story is forced.

Main couple: FL hates ML for his sexist views but falls for him after an unrelated misunderstanding is cleared. The "fake to actual lovers" cliche done very badly.

Second couple: FL falls for ML at first sight for his looks. ML has shown 0% interest in girls but is suddenly interested in this girl for no reason.

Intimate scenes between the two MLs is also very unnecessary.
