In the beginning, the story was engaging.
I mean it's my first time finding a historical drama that has architectural theme.
The story focused on the architecture but also connected to the main leads problem

-

The main couple, CLY-LQF, are cute, but their chemistry was weak. FL did a good job with her character, ML's acting felt robotic at some parts, and the kiss scene doesn't look convincing.

The side couples were more interesting, AXL-MYX & HNN-LY. Even with minimum screentime they still had good chemistry.
ZYN was good addition to the story. She didn't have much development, but she's fun to watch. I wish they did better with WS's character. In the whole story he always stood there as the guard, no backstory or whatsoever.

The used of architecture theme was good and very entertaining! There's new things to solve from every project. And the way the friendship grows between the 8 people were heartwarming.

-

Music used was okay, it fit the mood. The setting and costumes looks pretty. CGI looks cheap, but it wasn't so bad.

I guess this supposed to be a light hearted drama. And i like fluffy/light-hearted dramas the most. But this one felt bland, especially during halfway of the story.

I started to watch for Fu Yaning and she doesn't disappoint. She did good with her role. I just had a hard time getting used with the dubbed voice.

Overall, some parts of the drama are bad. But if you accept everything as it is, it will probably be an okay drama. If you have a lot of free time or if you are a fan of the actors, go ahead and give it a try!

One of the most enjoyable drama I've watch this year

The drama was actually fun and entertaining for a drama with low budget (?)
tbh I don't really expect to enjoy this drama that much because it seems that fans wasn't really expecting this drama

Kiki and Huang Shengchi chemistry were good as main leads
Chen Lang Yue was reckless, but she's not over doing it, and seems like a cool yet cute girl even though she's also a lovesick puppy, her relationship with An Xiao Luo are my favorite, as they're actually the princess and maid but they act more like sisters
Li Qing Feng was stiff, but not riggid, a typical tsundere male lead, but still charming
Zhao Yi Ning, I like her a lot in several last episodes, cool girl
Han Niao Niao, I just don't understand why she cried in almost all episodes
Luo Ye, charming boss, he knows how to talk with people
Meng Yuan Xu, I love how he was the shooters for Chen Lang Yue, the clown of the group, him and Luo Ye was my favorite clown
An Xiao Luo, cutest baby protect her at all cost
Wang Sheng, tbh I don't really like how he's just become the guardian, not really in-depth of his character, and mostly become the 7th wheel and the only one without love line
their chemistry as a group was great, idk I really love it even though sometimes it was over the place

well overall this drama is quite charming
as Kiki's fan, I love her in this drama way better than her previous drama

A journey of 8people becoming friends w/3couples’s story...no backstabbing/annoying characters...

This historical drama is a story about a bunch of young people who find each other n work together in a small architecture group... they r different kinda people with different kind of backgrounds but somehow make a solid team from the start till the end... through out the drama they take projects n solve the probs to build some things while facing their own personal problems n also a major state affair in the end...

What I like:
- The friendship... eventhough they started as strangers, they grew on each other n stay together till the end as a team n became real friends...
- The characters of those 8 people in the team r just so different that it’s mostly interesting to watch... none of them is evil, so no backstabbing kinda plot...
- The leads r ok, the chems is good, n eventhough sometimes u can tell they r not that comfortable with each other doing skinship, i still enjoy their scenes... plus visually they look good... the other 2 couples r ok too, sometimes cute, sometimes a bit boring, but overal it’s ok... n the actors did good playing friends, they have believable chems...
- I haven’t seen a historical drama having architecture as the main focus, so it’s mostly interesting to watch...
- No really annoying character... only 1 villain, The Northern Prince that The Princess is supposed to marry... but he doesn’t get that much screentime n his character just shows up here n there, so he doesn’t bother me that much...

What I’m not so fond of:
- Plotwise is ok, but I find there r some boring parts here n there thru the drama... I think it’s supposed to be a light drama, but not enough cute moments, IMO the scripts r just mmeehhh for quite a few times n sometimes the directing is just not on point...
- For a light drama, I find the romance between the leads not enough... I mean they used the plot where ML demanded FL to explain her background for a few eps with kinda repetitive scenes... n while that’s happening, the leads were in a long Cold War... n happens again in a few eps near the end where FL has come back to the Palace being a Princess n the leads being heartbroken about the arrange marriage thing, n while that happens, they mostly just being work colleagues... so for me, not enough happy moments together between the leads for supposedly a light romcom...
- It’s a lowbudget drama I think, so some not so satisfying stuff in the drama... like the final battle in the end is not even a good CGI n some not properly done scenes... also The Palace doesn’t really look like one, no luxury... n some other things, but it’s a pass for a lowbudget one I guess...

Overall I quite enjoyed it, not that much but enough to finish this... there were some boring moments, but still acceptable... there isn’t really a villain that u could hate so much... the luv triangle parts r not that annoying coz it’s obvious the leads only like each other, n no real tricks... so if u like the kinda drama that tells stories about a group of friends working together side by side n having 3couples between them for some light romance, then u might like this... just don’t expect too much, coz it’s a bit slow pace n almost no action scenes... let’s just say it’s not that good, but not that bad...

enjoyable historical/architectural drama

finished all episodes after 3 days of release (of course there are breaks).

i didn't skip anything so i get to see everything (thus my review is reliable lol)

first and foremost this drama is not big budgetted but they came up with decent setups and stuffs.

i am a kiki fan so i anticipated this drama because it's her first main role. she was busy joggling her schedules during filming thus it's quite noticable that she lack sleep on some scenes. i think she knew it so she said she will sleep earlier in the future.

i am an engineer so i appreciated the problem solving here on the show.

the casts are perfect. they have chemistry as a group.

the male lead i find him cute especially when he smiles, too bad there's less of him smiling.

main couple's chemistry is growing each episode. the bed scene is perfect! (watch to know hehe)

the side couples are interesting too and other side characters. one of the things i like about this drama is that all characters have enough screentime and have good storyline.

overall, my greatest takeaway from the drama is that there's solutions to problems. we have just to think deeply and creatively.

(i wish they have more scenes in the end tho!)

The most simple and easy-going historical drama <3

The cast, the ost, the storyline, their friendship, romance, and every episodes fill up with slight mystery, they solved problems and show us how architect life back then using simple tools, and ofc the beautiful old chinese buildings charateristic, and moree, also how positive vibes they bring when they are together. Li qing feng and chen lang yue are really meant to be?. Beside the main lead, the support lead are also so adorable and soo cutee. Also the king really loves his sister, Princess Chen. The Flowers Are Blooming is really all rounder! Totally recommended for a new or a beginner chinese historical drama <3

contructing/architect youth drama

The plot of this drama is refreshing and new! its about 8 young people who are passionate about constructing houses for different people. The stories arent boring and is pretty interesting to watch them design, build and construct,

The leads got together before the half way point! Add points! but quickly had an argument which lasted like 2 episodes, so minus points again !

The leads though are a cute couple! I liked the character of the male. He is an architect, and makes the first move! The female lead is extremely pretty and her identity is a princess. ( which only a few people know about). I definitely can feel the chemistry of the two leads!

However it got kinda annoying when the princess keeps getting pressured by her brother aka the king. So its like they are together, argue, get back together, need to be broken apart.... Why cant the leads just be together?

If it werent for the last factor, i would of given the drama a slightly higher score!

Good a Friendship and Teamwork

At first, i dont pay any attention to this drama. Until i try to watch because it appears on my recommendation's movie.
The story was really good, how this team not just make a building but also give the best touched in every their masterpiece. Even this team have member from different background and faced any problem, but they always standing as a team. Finish their work together also support each other. I really love every character in this drama.
I even hope that maybe will be a season 2 for this ❤❤

A Disappointment for a Kiki fan — when star power is not enough to mask the boring script

A Good Script Makes a Whole lot of Difference

I watched Sassy Beauty (Snow Kong) together with The Flowers are Blooming (Kiki Xu) expecting that I will like TFAB more since I’ve seen Kiki Xu’s work before and I like her. Both dramas didn’t have the A lister cast that you’d expect so I was totally banking on Kiki Xu’s charm. But 2 episodes in both dramas and I hate to admit that TFAB was a disappointment for a Kiki fan like me.

|Boring, all over the place plot|
I had no problem with Kiki Xu’s acting but it’s just that the plot was just so lacking that the main leads don’t even have as much romantic scenes as you’d get from a rom com and the supporting characters remain as disposable characters that even if you remove them from the scene they wouldn’t matter and I wouldn’t care.

|Barely there chemistry|
I know Kiki can have chemistry with her co-star because she did have it with Wang Yuo Shuo in The Blooms at Ruyi Pavillion. But in this drama, I can see That they tried but there’s just some disconnect with Huang Sheng Chi. Also I never liked the MLs face/acting because I always found it so wooden in his past drama.
I think the secret sauce is that both Kiki and Sheng Ci needs the perky, impish co-stars because they both suit the elegant, poised characters. Which is why Kiki also worked well with Yuo Shuo who has the impish vibe.

In the end, I already finished SB while I had trouble finishing this drama because of what a let down it is.

An Amazing Drama

I loved the drama very much and the cast was really cool and lovely . The main couples had small misunderstandings very often but they didn't make their relation completely meaningless and the relation between each every character is very beautiful and the story pace is not too slow or too fast . aww xiao luo and princess relationship was the best in the whole drama and miss zhao was also very cool and strong woman . It's a must watch drama and about rewatch it's upto ourselves . it's about architecture in the ancient times with romance and it matched as the leads have same opinions even though male lead appear as cold but he is warm and really his laugh reminds of me of a baby .

This drama is a romantic comedy that doesn’t deliver neither comedy nor a good romance. The theme of having the characters formed part of an architectural firm and the jobs that they undertook were the most interesting aspects of this drama; also their friendship and camaraderie. The ending of the drama was good and fanciful!
SPOILER ALERT:
The romantic plot was the most disappointing since, not only the leading couple lacked chemistry and their intimate moments felt like someone poured iced water over the couple but also the female lead could act wise and mature toward her friends but her character was insufferable with the leading male who, by the way, was too stiff and lacked romantic aura toward the female lead. The leading female lies to the male lead about her identity, even after starting their romantic relationship showing that she didn’t trust him enough and acted arrogant and selfish blaming him when he was hurt and upset for her lack of transparency with the lame excuse that she didn’t mean to hide her identity but still did it over and over again until she was ousted by a someone from the palace. So, what could have been a lighthearted drama with romantic and comedic undertones, turned into a mess of deception where the male lead ends up quickly forgiving and saving her at the end! Truthfully, Zhao Yi Ning (played by Yang Yun Xuan) was a more likeable character and a better match for the leading male.
