Meh

Maybe I should just stop watching mini dramas. 99% of them are just not done well. This story was too ambitious to be told in a mini drama and therefore felt very flat. The characters and the world didn't feel real.

It's kinda sad that Korean BL is mostly only seen in mini dramas because it robs us of the opportunity to watch an ACTUALLY well-written, complex gay love story.

Jun's acting was ok but to be fair, it wasn't a very challenging role. It'll be interesting to see what kind of roles he takes on in the future.

In defense of this mini drama it should be said that right before starting this, I'd binged The King's Affection, so of course its storyline and production value are going to look very poor in comparison.

Stealing someone else's headline: Sweet

I think one of the few Korean BL's that does not suffer from the short episodes/runtime. They spaced it out well, and resolved it pretty good.
I'm not sure how to describe this feeling that's coming from this series? Sort of like everything is softened with a woozy filter. (Not literally) The tragic prince with his trusty bodyguard that is doomed to be exiled, have assassin's sent after him, and is ordered to commit suicide in the end. Who finds this weird/intriguing person who gives him some hope again, and a reason to laugh. And this student who likes art(history) who gets send into a painting, which is actually the past, to meet with this prince and is intrigued by him in his own way, and bring some of his light to him. And then the bodyguard who has off course always loved the prince, who doesn't trust the intruder at first, but learns to like him, even love him, because he brings a smile back to the face of his prince.
And in the end all 3 off them escape from the painting/past and go to the future to finish their lives their together. (They absolutely end up together in a poly relationship. It isn't explicit, but you can't convince me otherwise. They all care so obviously for eachother in their own way. )
The series manages to feel slow paced? Even though it is only 8 episodes of 10 minutes each.
They never explained why he gets send into the painting/past... but I'm not sure if it really needs explaining. Higher powers and fate and all. I'm good.

I liked it in spite of myself

I don't know what it is that makes this show as enjoyable as it is, but there's just something about it.
The premise is interesting but poorly executed, the writing is solid but the plot doesn't exactly make sense, the acting is great but the characters are underdeveloped. So why in the hell does it work so well then?
I can't answer that question with any certainty but I can sure try.

My favourite part of the show are the characters. Yes, they are somewhat underdeveloped and don't really have character arcs as such, but they are all incredibly, bizzarely charming.
Our prince is as sweet as sugar, he is a ridiculously kind and gentle person who is very inconveniently stuck in the body of a royal. He is almost as much of a fish out of water as Eun Ho and watching him doing his best is as funny as it is sweet.
Our bodyguard is the epitome of the tortured, brooding servant utterly devoted to his master and absolutely no-one takes him seriously. He waves around his sword and makes threats and vows to protect the prince with his life and mostly all he gets in response is "yeah yeah we got it, calm down and come join our cuddle pile instead".
Our hapless time traveller steals the show by virtue of being utterly, hilariously unflappable. No matter what happens to him, no matter how strange his environment is, he faces it all with an attitude of "Yeahh this might as well happen" and then simply gets on with his day.
The dynamic between the three is incredibly entertaining to watch and there are many fairly unsubtle hints at a potential polyamorous relationship between them, which makes the whole thing even more enjoyable.

So take all that, mix it with an absolutely gorgeous wardrobe and a story utterly devoid of angst, shake it vigorously, and what you get is this odd, off-beat, wholly charming show. It's not a good show by any common metric, but it is undeniable fun to watch and at the end of the day that's what's important.
So give it a shot, you'll very likely be entertained.

CUTE SHORT BL SERIES WITH LIGHT STORY!

It's very relaxing to watch BL series like this, with light casting and story line and quick events. I like how the scenery was showcased in most of the episodes. The casts portrayed their roles just fine, it's actually heartwarming to see such acting and romantic development between two people from different timeline and world. I also love the involvement of art on the storyline and how the series ended. The two male leads moments together is really cute to see... you know... I love it. It's good, I enjoyed watching it so much!

Sweet

Short, sweet, nice story.
Quite a low budget feel though and not great sound quality. Small, young cast, who worked well together and seemed to enjoy themselves.
I actually think this would make a decent full length drama.
It is difficult, to my mind, for any decent story to be conveyed in such short and so few, episodes. The cast don't really get a chance to build on their characters either.
I thought they did well, considering that.
I still feel it's a shame that S.Korea only partially commits to the BL genre. I haven't seen anything yet, which gives us full length episodes. A real shame.

Just Meh

Below average. You can just watch episode 1, 2 and 8 to understand the story and skip others because nothing really happened in those episodes. I just got bored with their out of nowhere melodrama with meh music just to extent the airtime. I know it is a low budget production but at least make it interesting like Nobleman Ryu's Wedding for example. Limited budget doesn't mean you can't make a good series. But sadly, this series suffered from weak scripts. It felt empty.

Yoo Hyun Woo and Kim Tae Jung acting were not convincing enough. Most of the time, felt wooden. Luckily we have Jun, but there so much one actor can do to save this drama.

Given more episodes, I think this could have been really interesting, we could have had a beautiful romance between two people with nothing in common, we could have seen them began to understand each other, and relate to each other, begin to trust each other, and finally fall in love. But that is not what happens.
The idea was too ambitious for such a short drama, so instead nothing really happens. Their relationship doesn't evolve over the course of the drama, nothing that happens has any effect on the characters, and the characters have so little individual personality that the very few choices they make have almost no effect on the plot, making it a very boring watch. The whole thing could have been told in one 10 minute episode. There is no subtlety, no deeper meaning, no slowly evolving romance, no emotions, nothing worth watching, sadly.

IF THIS DRAMA WAS A PAINTING IT WOULD BE PICASSO

Tinted With You was *chef's kiss* like i have no words.

The story was told exceptionally well for the short time slot it had and it ended perfectly.

There was no rush to the drama and it felt beautiful to watch them fall in love and kiss without the shock of them both being men it was all natural and normalized.

I also appreciated the fact that it wasn't a love triangle it was just two men in love and one man's friend/bodyguard. No unnecessary drama.

Simply stunning.

The time travelling aspect was done really well also and was explained exceptionally.

All in all this drama is definitely worth the watch.

I love it. I love it to the bone ???

The acting could use some improvement but it's not bad! Jun did so well!!! (Talented man ???) This is a great watch :)) it could tug your heart strings ???? It gave me many laughs and giggles so definitely watch it if you want to have a good time. As for rewatching, I think it's worth a rewatch. For a drama that's really pretty it can really make you feel emotional and tear up.

It's obvious that the production is quite low, the most noticable is the camera angles and switching, it's quite hard to explain but the acting covered it up. It's still really really good though. The sceneries were so pretty and beautiful, it's relaxing to look at

It's definitely a must watch! For a short series it's really good. Hoping for a 2nd season and a possible poly ending? (PLS)

Cute, simple and short series :)

I like it!
The story is VERY simple and easy to understand and it looks very pretty. If you want something to chill and not long, with beautiful nature, cute actors and good atmosphere, watch it.
I don´t know what more to say about this mini series since it´s really short and simple :D

because the review must be longer:

I didn´t know who Jun ( the main actor ) is when watching the series and then i found a group called A.C.E and started to be more interested in them and after a while I remembered and recognised Jun so maybe in future I´ll watch it again if I´ll miss his acting :)))

Couldn't this have been a full series?

In my strongest belief, had this been a full series of like 12 to 20 episodes, this show would've been a BL classic. I'm not really much into iseki/time travel shows unless you can make it good, and Tinted With You had all the stops to be good. The problem was the length. For whatever reason that I can't find out (probably due to budget reasons), the production company decided to make this an 8 episode series each of them like 10 to 12 minutes long, and most of the time is either recapping last episode or a super long preview of what the next episode is going to be. The story felt completely rushed with modern boy transports to Joseon era Korea, modern boy has to fit in, romance happens, boy now has to return home. Uh, where was the action? Where was the conflict? I mean, couldn't we have some Inuyasha stuff happen at least? Oh, and as much as I love the theme song, I was sick and tired of it by the last episode. Like, did they not have any other songs in their soundtrack? Jeez...

Overall, this show could've been great, but it missed the mark due to how much they were allowed to produce I guess.

Short and Beautiful

Tinted with You is very short, but the landscapes are beautiful!

~~ STORY ~~

Tinted with You is a short series about time travel. A student named Eun Ho gets sucked into a historical painting where he meets exiled Crown Prince Lee Heon and Geum, his loyal servant. From there the plot gets a little messy. Tinted with You is very short with 8 episodes, each around 12 minutes. It's hard to tell a story about love, time travel, and a messy kingdom takeover in such a short amount of time, however Tinted with You tries it's best.

Despite the plot sounding dramatic, the series is very fluffy and adorable. The characters are in their small little bubble and are content staying in their bubble.

My only gripe about this series is that the ending was too confusing. Prince Heon and Eun Ho suddenly fall in love and Eun Ho decides to take him to the future... Which miraculously works... I think... The only confirmation we get is that they are together in the future 2 years later. There is no confirmation that the Heon we see in the end is the same Prince Heon from the past. Even that weird meeting with Geum in the future was weird. Are they themselves or reincarnations? I'm con fused. Other than that it was nice to watch.

LEE HEON x EUN HO

They fell in love rather quickly... and I'm surprised Heon didn't go through gay panic since historically two men together was a taboo. Aside from that, they were cute together. They just naturally got together and it wasn't strange or weird. I did feel that they were a bit rushed, but it didn't bother me too much. What bothered me was the ending... Are they dating or just friend?

~~ OVERALL ~~

Tinted with You was cute and fluffy. The landscapes were beautiful too! That being said, this series is a good filler series to watch when you want to watch something, but are short on time. It's not something that I will be rewatching anytime soon though... The OST, however, I need to stick into my itunes asap.
