I was literallty waiting for this movie to air, after watching bit of its scenes from its trailor .. also recently i fell in love with Chen feiyu and his acting in Lighter and princess which is definitely a must watch and can be the best drama of the year, not only because of its story but its acting too was a chef's kiss. When this movie aired, i decided to watch it but got disappointed after seeing this much low rating here * is 6.9 when i am writing the review * and I usually skips those dramas and movies that have rating less than an 8 even if it got the amazing cast. but then i read some comments that this rating is fake and antis have done it , then thought to try a shot and watched the movie and was quite surprised that story was quite interesting and acting was amazing too as both the leads are amazing actors .. so all the watchers who are planning to watch it but got scammed with the rating here should definitely watch it because its worth it.Was this review helpful to you?
Romantic movie when you need one
There is nothing new here- the storyline has been done before many times. But what makes it really work is the actors’ sweet, intensely romantic performances. The two leads have excellent chemistry. The music suits the movie, the sets work well, the supporting actors have little screen time but handle what time they have with ease. If you need something to remind you about the importance of treating our lovers with great care and romance here it is. Highly recommended for those snowy or rainy days to lose yourself in the feeling of being swept away watching a depth of love we all want to find and keep.Was this review helpful to you?
Just a simple romantic fantasy movie
I have been following this movie since it came out and just heard the reviews are unfavorable regionally and internationally. Yet i encourage you to watch this movie without any bias, but based on the fact that you love a good simple romantic film.Plot summary:
Childhood friends who lost each other and found each other again after many years, thanks to fate! However, life happens along the way and their love is tested. Fantasy elements are introduced and the unfortunate couple tries to change their destiny to stay alive, but this time without each other. Yet as the saying goes, what is meant for you will find you no matter what.
Acting:
I saw CFY in Lighter and Princess and i dare say he is improving. he is a young actor and is in the learning process. then again, in this very particular movie, he portrays a very normal youngster who is in love but goes through hardships in life.
Zhou Ye is also quite decent and depicted a very cheerful yet faithful lover. Both had good chemistry together. i just wished we could see more kiss scenes, albeit the ones shown were ok imo.
Writing:
It's a movie so we can't expect to see many details and elaboration of how things are. everything is fast-paced. Also, this movie is a fantasy romance, so many things cannot be explained with logic. it's just how it is. One thing that was a bit questionable to me was that they keep saying their love is tested and that we can't fight destiny. Yet in the end, we see a different scenario. Like are they gonna suffer again? the curse was gone? did they go through the loophole again? but the ending was kinda nice. they got what they deserved.
Production and soundtrack:
The movie is rather simple. It has been filmed in very simple locations as it is in most movies. The soundtrack was kinda nonexistent. I didn't hear anything playing Lol
Overall, it's a beautiful romantic movie. Nothing that extraordinary, but very beautiful if you're into romance. Don't pay attention to the overly negative or overly positive ratings.

Better Than I Expected
First of all I have to praise Zhou Ye, I recently watched her drama Back from the Brink and loved her performance so watched this film. From this two her film and drama, I see her solving the last problem and she tried hard to save the ml and she succeeds. Both are similar in this regard but her acting was better. I saw her playing a very serious role in this film & this is my first Chen Feiyu film. He acted appropriately! There is nothing wrong with the performance of both of them. I just like the script a little less.How time traveled with candle is not explained easily, you have to think well to understand.Chen Feiyu can kiss very well even in this film I saw but the kissing scene was only 1/2.New variations in time-travel drama! Fate can change

More than More Than Blue
I knew I had to catch this when I saw the trailer - Chen Feiyu and Zhou Ye make such a visually appealing couple PLUS it’s directed by the same guy behind more than blue? I was sold.YX and SY were childhood friends who lost contact over the years, but rekindled as adults. The premise of the show is simple but with some elements of surprise. It’s about trying to change ones destiny/fate and encourages the audience to cherish their loved ones every single day. Since there are some elements of fantasy, it’s important to not question some of the illogical bits cos it is what it is.
I really loved this couple and going through the different iterations of their everyday life (whilst trying to change fate). But without revealing too much, their chemistry is off the charts in my opinion and they’re so sweet together! Both ML/FL’s acting was commendable.
Music - only 2 main tracks. Comparable to similar shows, it’s always played in a timely manner in the most heart wrenching way. Remember to bring some tissues!

If I hear Groundhog Day in the same sentence as a film or a drama, I am certain I am going to watch it. And so when I saw a review for this movie, I had to watch it. Yesterday With You is a good film: it ticked all the necessary boxes for it to be a convincing time travel story!It was a story about childhood friends who meet as adults reconnect and fall in love. But life keeps throwing them lemons until an accident happens. With the help of magic birthday candles they try to fix what went wrong!
The first 10 min is a whole romcom movie: how they meet and fall in love and fight and make up and just love each other. The montage of significant scenes from a relationship is expertly done and we do not need more in order to know what is important here.
Then the tragedy strikes in the form of a white truck of doom (what else?). I was impressed by the creative use of the said truck: he actually pulled a scaffolding down on the victim. After this accident, the time travel groundhog day style starts using some candles. The cinematography changes a bit and from warm brownish tones we get a lot of greys and cold colours as the main characters rush around trying to change the future. There was an impressive scene with a car driving through a forest of huge grey pillars (must be a highway exchange) but it conveyed well the feelings of being lost and distraught.
The film was full of usual drama tropes: the already mentioned truck, stopping in the middle of the road to think, disapproving and abusive parents, quirky best friends. The actors, completely unknown to me, were really good and had decent chemistry.
This was actually a perfect format for this story avoiding thus all the downsides of a drama like length, filler stories and chinese propaganda (see Reset).

Once again story about re-write the past. What will u do if u given the chance to change someone fate, especially life & death situation...? Will u exchange it with ur own life?What we can learn from this drama only 1. Nothing is free. There's something we have to pay for the things that we want....
That's what happen with Gu Yu Xuan (XY) & Han Shu Yan (SY) . One day SY got into accident & died. It happen the day they have a big fight. And by coincidence Gu Yu Xuan find out he can restart the day & try to prevent SY's death. But he can only do it for 2 times. The first day he tried to prevent it but fail & 1 old man advice him to just cherish the time/chance he still have with her instead try to prevent the death itself. But of course XY can't accept that fact & think everything possible to prevent it. And finally he succeeded, but he has to pay it with his own life.
After learn the fact about XY's death, now it's SY that can't accept it. She doesn't want XY to exchange his life with her own. So she also visit that old man, just to find out the old man already change into old woman & once again also try her it's useless to try change the fate that's already happen. But of course SY can't accept it & when she finally able to change it, she had to pay it with high price. Which I'm not gonna spoiled u even more, I spoiled much enough... Haha....
Overall this one good movie

Equal mix of Romance, Angst, and Happiness.
Both Zhou Ye and Chen Feiyu showed their acting skill in the film. You could really feel the emotion and heartbreak in their scenes. They also look beautiful with each other, good chemistry!It’s not an original story by any means and has been done before but it’s a classic, never gets old and hits the mark every time. It’s an equal mix of angst and joy, I cried both sad and happy tears throughout
The ending is satisfying and fitting and gives the mains a well deserved happy ending <3

It's a nice film
This is a nice film...Yes very impressed with CFY & ZY....
Impressed by the lead actors & the film....
considering it's budget....
I felt and only my opinion maybe the supports not as strong, the themes a bit extreme at times, the story friendliness at times might of lacked.... Struggled early however finished very strong and mid way through film was good....
I recommend a viewing, only a few hours....
Overall what I felt lacked still doesn't matter, the leads both fantastic....
CYF definately once air clears will be back 100%.... ZY amazing actresses with Back to Brink also good reviews....
I cannot wait see both again together in a drama in the future....
Only problem I have with ratings is the antis possibly early on gave negative reviews without proper reason & the fans of CFY in response may of overrated the scores however look, I have no problems if people give 10/10 because I understand as well why they might of felt it worthy of full marks so not disputing it. I can understand if they were touched by it. With the antis, would like to understand why score it 1 or 2? I have dropped dramas and films giving them low marks but I had a reason for low score. This drama I felt was ok at the start and good at the end so easily worthy of higher score .... MDL needs better moderating of scores, not just this film but all dramas here. People only tend to vote either high or low.
Anyways please no hate, just my opinion. I was polite. Hope everyone enjoyed the film. I did too just wasn't wanting an encore for this film but yes encore for the actors for later dramas....

A good time travel story with HE
A good time travel story with HEI watched the trailer of this movie on YT before it release and read some comments that said the movie have similar plot as Hollywood movie called If Only (2004) starring Jennifer Love-Hewitt and Paul Nichols, and the company who held the license to remake If Only movie into Chinese version sued this movie (Yesterday Once More). After Watching the 2 movies yes it was a little bit similarity, in both movies the FL died from an accident and the ML tried to save her in every time loop causes the butterfly effect that took the his life but the whole movie is so different from the Hollywood one.
Story about childhood friends who reunited and fall in love but once they got together it's not so smooth as you imagine. In that day while both of them celebrating his birthday they got into a fight which end up in to an accident that took the girl life. He went home brokenhearted and took the birthday cake made for him by his girlfriend too a candle and make a wish. The next day he wake up seeing her alive and well but the things happens the day before seems to repeat itself. He tried to save the girl in every time loop and end up losing his own life. Apparently the candle handmade by his mother from when his a childhood has the ability for them to time travel or get into time loop. Lastly the girl found the last candle and made her wish and all a happy ending :D
A beautiful movie, main leads has good acting and chemistry and the OST is really good too, recommended for you who like this genre.

Good Remake of a popular story.
Although this film is a remake of films like groundhog day, I felt the directors did a decent job of the remake.Chen Feiyu is a very good actor and now that he's graduated from the Beijing Film Academy I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more of him. I thought he also did a great job in Ever Night and Lighter and Princess. Many of the films he's in have a good opening that makes you want to keep watching. I'm glad he has the courage to take on different roles and characters. He's very fortunate to have parents in the film and entertainment business. His private life is his own business and non of anyone else's. Actors are human beings; viewers should appreciate the work and the efforts to bring people enjoyment and entertainment.
