Really good until the last part
I really like the drama in general. The story was interesting (occasionally not logical but still interesting), acting was great and I liked how the story goes until the last episode's last part. When they conclude the most important battle with no one dying at the last 5 minute war they suddenly decide to kill 2 characters and left the ending without any explaination. This part made me angry but it was still overall a great drama.Was this review helpful to you?
Engaging revenge drama!!!
The double is indeed an engaging,exciting and thrilling revenge drama.It made glued to it right from the first episode itself.The female protagonist sets off on a revengeful journey against her husband and mother in law and sister in law after she is wrongfully accused and killed by them.
I really liked the way the female lead,Jiang Li/Xue Fangfei was very strong throughout the drama and was always focused on her goal.Wu Jinyan was really very good in portraying her role.She carried the different emotions,agony,pain,angst,hatred in her role perfectly.
The male lead, Duke Su/Xiao Heng is the outstanding character in this drama.Wang Xingyue portrayal of this character is excellent!!The way he stands as a moral support for Jiang Li,how he is always there for her in difficult times and the way he expresses his love only through eyes is fabulous.
I also liked the friendship between the emperor and Duke Su.He is one such emperor who really suits his title of emperor.
Jiang Li's stepmother,,her sisters,the eldest princess,Shen yurong and his family were truly disgusting.but all the actors have done their job well.
The story was fast paced with right emotional quotient.
I liked the song sung by Cyndi Wang.
Overall a worth watching drama.
Watch it to witness a second chance given to a woman who has been betrayed in her life to fight for her justice.?

Highs and Lows
I love this drama so much. It is going on my rewatch list immediately. Now, that that's out of the way, let's get into the review.I titled my review "Highs and Lows" because that is exactly what my emotions were when I watched this. I was constantly at the edge of my seat, tweeting about plot points or how I thought certain characters would react. I cried a lot, laughed a lot and even made some new friends while watching this drama. It has been such a fun and enjoyable experience to get to learn more about each character in the story, why they act the way they do, the relationships that they have, and the growth that they experience as the story goes on. This story is more than just a revenge drama, it is a story about finding one's self and overcoming.
Now that I have gotten some of the highlights out of the way, let's discuss some potential lowlights. Some of the plot points are a bit... far-fetched. But if you come into this drama with an open mind and intend to enjoy yourself, then it becomes bearable/you will be able to look past it. Additionally, some of the shots chosen in certain scenes could have been done differently.
All in all, I give this drama a 9.5/10 due to how much fun I had and the chemistry between each of the characters.

I'll forever think of him as the Duke of Coolness
This is the first drama I'm giving a 5 star on mydramalist. This is how to write a story, our dramalands esteemed scriptwriters.I'll miss this drama, originally planned to start watching it all over again after it had finished airing but I don't think I can because of Wanning, after seeing her background story, I can't see her as evil anymore and somehow I think that'll change the tone of the drama for me should I rewatch so soo. Sigh
I recommend wholeheartedly.

MAGISTRAL!!!
Plot: The FL, Fangfei, married to an official, is buried alive by him. She survives and is taken in by Jiang Li, daughter of the Director of Administration at Court. She had been sent to an evil monastery for 10 years, following the shenanigans of her mother-in-law. Jiang Li dies and FangFei promises to avenge both of them. She will intelligently use the ML, Duke Su, to achieve this, gradually revealing the conspiracies & power struggles.What I liked:
+ revenge. rather dark atmosphere!
+ a great casting : I am an absolute fan of Wang Xing Yue, sublime in this role. I like less Wu Jin Yan, a little too old for the character, but I admit that she has talent...
+ The cinematography is magnificent: the images, the framing, the costumes, the sets,... Everything is top notch!
+ The narration is fast, without downtime (or even with somewhat abrupt cuts)
+ The OSTs know how to amplify the emotions of each scene.
+ The story is well constructed, logical, coherent.
=> A great series, addictive, memorable, worth watching again.

Celle-ci avait été envoyée depuis 10 ans dans un monastère malfaisant, suite aux magouilles de sa belle-mère. Jiang Li meurt et FangFei se promet de les venger ttes les 2. Elle va intelligemment utiliser le ML, Duke Su, pour y parvenir, dévoilant peu à peu les conspirations & luttes de pouvoir.
What I liked:
+ vengeance. atmosphère plutôt noire !
+ TB casting je suis une fan absolue de Wang Xing Yue, sublime dans ce rôle. J'aime moins Wu Jin Yan, un peu trop âgée pour le personnage, mais j'avoue qu'elle a du talent ...
+ La cinématographie est magnifique : les images, les cadrages, les costumes, les décors, ... Tout est au top !
+ La narration est rapide, sans temps mort (voire avec des coupures un peu brusques)
+ Les OST savent amplifier les émotions de chaque scène.
+ L'histoire est bien construite, logique, cohérente.
=> Une super série, addictive, mémorable, à revoir.

Revenge at its finest
Great story, great chemistry between the leads. It was very well written with each subplot wrapping up well. The intricacies of the various revenge plots were very satisfying.The villains were not to be messed with and made me hate them. But the layers of each story also gave the villains a humane side. The characters were well developed.
I like how it didn't overly dwell on Jiang Li/Xue Fengfei's identity switch. It would have been like beating a dead horse.
Going back to the ML, Wang Xing Yue was fantastic. I'd seen him in a supporting role in Amidst a Snowstorm of Love and was really excited to see him in the lead role, and he did not disappoint. He played the role so well, and the chemistry with Wu Jin Yan was palpable.
SPOILER - I do wish the ending could have been happier. Wasn't ready for the unnecessary deaths at the end. Would have been great to stop after the wedding night. Only reason I can't give it a 10.
The music for this site is also great. The song for Xiao Heng and Jiang Li is lovely!

Interpreted and Adapted from the Novel, perfectly.
I was apprehensive when I learned that there will be a series of this novel, as I enjoyed reading it. I wasn't a fan of the ML actor, and was thinking of not watching this drama. But, I read a lot of positive feedback from this drama, so when it finished airing, I immediately gave it a chance, and I'm glad I did!It was perfectly done for me. I love that they did a good job and enhanced the story from the novel. Characters were portrayed well by the actors. ML and FL has good chemistry, and felt all the needed emotions in each scenes.
Villains, were too convincing. You wanted to personally skin them alive. I wish the extra episode, could've been an hour long. Hehe.
Over all, it is worthy of the hype. I enjoyed watching each episodes.

Strong female, thrilling story and nice romance
__*The Double*__ - 9/10 Historical C-DramaLet's begin with the aspects of this drama that I found less impressive.
For the identity swap to be plausible, the drama assumes an implausible level of blindness in both the audience and the characters. It's reminiscent of the scene in The Simpsons: "Homer? Who is Homer? My name is Guy Incognito." The female lead merely assumes a new name without altering her appearance and reappears just weeks after her supposed disappearance, without any attempt to disguise herself.
Now, onto the commendable parts.
Everything else shines. The actors, many of whom were unfamiliar to me, delivered stellar performances. The female lead was particularly well-written—a strong character without falling into the trope of a Mary Sue.
The story was well-crafted and suspenseful. It was so engaging that I found myself binge-watching all 40 episodes, eager to uncover each new twist and turn.
The romance? The chemistry was palpable. While it wasn’t the best I've ever seen, it was certainly compelling.

The female lead is a married woman whose husband, a court official, along with his family, tarnishes her reputation and buries her in the mountains. Remarkably, she survives and is rescued by a noble young lady who had also been grievously wronged. Unfortunately, the cost of this rescue is the young lady's own life. The female lead then assumes the identity of her savior, vowing to avenge both herself and the noble young lady.

The best revenge/romance drama I've ever seen!
This is a story of a woman who was terribly wronged seeking to avenge the injustice perpetrated on her, her family, and woman's whose identity she assumed. I was rooting for her all the way. She would sacrifice anything to exact her revenge, and she couldn't ask for a better partner than the ML. Wu Jin Yan and Wang Xing Yue's chemistry was fantastic. decent revenge drama as long as you can believe the opening premise
This drama was probably the first good drama I have seen in 2024. There has been a lot of sub-par dramas released so far in 2024 so this drama was a welcome change.If you can believe that a child can be framed for a crime they didn't commit (by the evil step-mother no less). If you can believe a father couldn't recognize his own daughter (even after 10 years), If you can believe said father wouldn't visit his own child for 10 years. you know, just to check up on her. If you can believe a husband couldn't recognize his ex-wife after a few months apart (hey your daughter looks an awful lot like my ex-wife) . Then the rest of the drama is pretty good. For me the main knock was believing the opening premise that one person could impersonate another without any changes to their appearance, you know, just jump in and say hey, I am now Jiang Li, and you should just believe it .
Once you get past the initial set-up of the drama, the story and plot are pretty good and the drama moves right along, very little filler scenes. Not once did I fast forward through this drama. I liked the fact that the main villain in here was the psycho princess, a nice change from other dramas. This drama has a good revenge story line and is worth the watch......as long as you can buy off on the opening premise.

Revenge done in an brilliant way
This drama was the one that I didn’t expect would be good but after watching just 2 or so episodes I was so whipped for this drama now here’s the thing firstly I was amazed by wu jinyan (jiang li’s) role girl killed it2. Later on with more interactions between xiao heng and jiang li there chemistry was good ??
3. Now comes the thing that I liked here we obviously have to talk about xiao heng ???I want to dedicate this to him “xiao heng you are so good looking “

Great Story and Plot, Love the couple
The plot is unpredictable, and logically unfolds nicely. It's tempting to watch further. Usually, I dont like politics in a story much, but the directors succeed to allure us to reveal one by one. Like the costumes. The cast is great, especially ML and FL, they have a great chemistry without intimate scenes.
