Sumiko Kogami, who works at a silk mill in Hokkaido, despite everyday struggles, greets each day with a smile. One day, Sumiko felt something is wrong with her leg, but her doctor diagnosed her with mild beriberi. However, she soon learned that she had lost all control in her lower body, because of myelodysplasia. The story tells about the struggle with a serious and progressive disease, that motivates Sumiko even more, to live her life to the fullest.
