Mochizuki Yuko

She was born in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, and in 1930, she left Tokyo Municipal Shinobugaoka High School without graduating.
Under the stage name Mochizuki Mieko, she made her debut at the Moulin Rouge Shinjuku-za theater.
In 1942, she married Suzuki Shigeo. After World War II, she joined the Mingei Theatre Company.
In 1950, she signed a contract with Shochiku film studio.
In the June 1971 election for the House of Councillors, she ran under her real name, Suzuki Mieko, representing the Japan Socialist Party in the national constituency and won her first term.
In the July 1977 election, she ran under the name Mochizuki Yuko but was not re-elected.
Mochizuki Yuko died of breast cancer on December 1, 1977, at the age of 60.
