A happy ending their way…

It was a drama I followed eagerly from the start, trying to craft theories, and it was excellent how the writers developed all the plots in 16 well-constructed episodes. The villains had good developments. The most assertive criticism is that our villain Yoon-Jin tormented for 15 episodes and, in the end, decided to apply the death penalty, which I find unusual for someone so envious, narcissistic, and egocentric, but it was the appropriate way the writers found to end her cycle of suffering and obsession. In terms of acting, I really liked the duplicitous scoundrel Nam Tae-Joo, portrayed by the veteran Park Ho-San, and the simple portrayal of Lee Ki-Taek, being an unconditional protector when playing Yoo Teo. As for Na-ra, she interpreted the central protagonist of the drama well and carried it through to where we are now.

Regarding the romantic part of the drama, the writers’ fanservice treated us to a bittersweet and open-ended ending between Jae-Won and Yoo Teo, and I think they were happy with this action. Finally, as I’ve always said since the review of episode 2 that I do here: A fully happy ending doesn’t exist; there’s the one that God or the Universe provides us, and we have to be wise to value and try to understand that not everything in life is simply complete or entirely happy.

Could've included a more satisfying revenge

I was engaged throughout the drama and expected Jaewon to make the best revenge to Yoonjin. However, the ending is kinda disappointing. Like, the writer just thought of a quick way to remove Yoonjin from the drama. I feel like they just thought "Oh, we need to eliminate this character in an instant. I'm sure the fans wouldn't mind." Sure...just hit her with a freakin bus without even showing how the other main characters would react. I understand that the writer wanted to focus on Jaewon's mental health but bruh, the ending was really anticlimactic. I really loved this drama...it got me hooked just by watching the first episode but the last one kinda ruined my experience.

For the acting, I gave a solid 10. Jang Nara really looked like she's struggling a lot from her problems and from her mental health. I wanted to give Jaewon a big hug and a pat in the back throughout the drama. There were also times where I wanted to slap some characters from this drama (especially that annoying reporter).

Would I recommend it? Yes. It still had good scenes in many of its episodes. I wouldn't get my hopes up about the ending tho since I feel like the revenge part was just rushed and not thought carefully by the writer.

Just a warning...it shows scenes of self-harming so if you're not comfortable with that, then I wouldn't suggest watching it.

Incredible Jang Na Ra performance

What an acting master class from Jang Na Ra. She was so impressive in this role, and I was so emotionally invested in her character from the outset. This was so intense and unpredictable, it did a great job of making me feel unsettled about what was going to happen next in the same way our unreliable narrator protagonist was. I thought the treatment of the FL's mental illness and childhood trauma was tender and sensitive and really moved me. The plot does get messy in the final episodes, it was overly convoluted and contrived in some respects, and there's one prominent supporting character I completely lost track of his motivations as the show progressed. However, they got the most important thing right, which was the FL's character arc.

Mostly serviceable ending after a drag of a journey

Jang Nara does a great job as Seo Jae Won, bringing sympathy for a character who makes a lot of frustrating decisions. They're not all explained away by her condition like others try to posit, which is a pretty ableist view. The only times it's applicable is when she's having episodes, other times it's really her own variable decisions. As to whether it's good representation of the particular mental health issues that her character experiences, it's up to those of that community.

The strongest parts of the series is Jae Won's relationship with her loving father who the show indirectly reveals in flashback when she calls him ahjusshi and directly much later at the court and Te Oh's ride or die unconditional life long love for her. As soon as he took a whole car hit for her to save her that's LOVE. He's happy to see her happy with her family, always supports her, has fairly good smarts, and gives her space as needed. They aren't officially together at the end, but they've been flirting every day, and she cleared the air about how he feels about her condition. She says she needs time and it's portrayed in the way that things have settled in a way that she's about ready to open her heart again. Jae Won and Te Oh get along well, have chemistry, and look good together.

Her daughter Ah Rin is one of those uncannily precocious kids that act like little adults, which is not cute at all. (The only exception is Evan from Fresh Off The Boat.) The fact that Soon Young's reaction to finding out Ah Rin is not biologically his daughter is not directly confronting Jae Won, but immediately hatching a ridiculously convoluted fan of seducing his wife's best friend and playing mind games with Jae Won and ultimately taking full custody of Ah Rin is really unhinged and evil. Yoon Jin is the worst though, she projects her entire life's insecurities into blind hatred for Jae Won, even to the point of twisting Jae Won's sexual assault by her rapist ex-boyfriend as Jae Won seducing him and causing her miscarriage and a happy life with him. Her character's story ending with sudden death by truck sama in the last episode was extremely anti-climactic. She deserved to face the consequences of her actions, especially for her ruthless murder of Seung Kyu. It's also weird that Tae Joo basically gets away with a slap on the wrist and a happy ending with Soo Jin as a potential love interest, he was literally involved in murder.

I'm glad I didn't have to watch the drama a week at a time because it just drags and drags before the cheap sudden ending with the aforementioned truck sama and awkward product placements in the final episode. Another really dumb thing was Te Oh not warning his sister Rachael that there is an unhinged woman obsessed with Ah Rin and to not publicly broadcast the itinerary of this child traveling alone and Jae Won not warning Ah Rin not to go with anyone that's a designated adult like herself, grandpa, Te Oh, or Soo Kyung. Grandpa didn't warn Ah Rin that Yoon Jin doesn't have good intentions and not to talk to her hat time she appeared either. It's such a fail to not teach Ah Rin to recognize danger. Aside from all that, it's nice that Jae Won gets a fresh start with her dad and Te Oh in her life.

"There is no happy ending to life", love this line in ending scene. The drama name is "My Happy Ending", but there is no actual happy ending in real life. Somedays are happy, other days are sad. No one can be happy forever in their life. The message of this drama is so clear and relatable. But if the drama had 12 episodes instead of 16 episodes, it would have been more enjoyable.

And also my most fav character is Soon Young. Ho Jun actually made me missing him so much with his character.

maybe 12 eps would've been enough?

The only issue I had with this drama was that, at some points, the series felt a bit dragged out. I was also a little frustrated with some of the choices made by the female lead. However, I'm glad that all the characters ended up getting the ending they deserved. I am a bit sad that we never got to see a side romance develop between MC and you know who, but it got renewed, so I'm keeping my hopes up

When you understand cheater more then the wife getting cheated

Husband is cheating on wife because he is single in that marriage, and physical cheating of husband count but emotional cheating of wife doesn't count,

And he was raising someone else child like his own
Fl doesn't even care about that daughter because she is result of a RAPE, but she want custody GREAT
just 30min in the show we can see wife and team leader are not just working, team leader is worried about her and stay there for her while he ditch his girlfriend(sister) i never had any sane human making girlfriend of his own sister
wife enjoy this flirting with team leader but we should consider wife purest innocent being in universe, and all blame goes to husband
when wife suspected her team leader being the stalker she look more like heartbroken then afraid.
when she heard about her husband stopped going to gym, she start thinking about she no longer trusted anyone, being betrayed, so from the start she never trusted her husband
just because of a GYM membership she just lost all her trust in her husband is AMAZING.

wife check her husbands phone without permission its NOTHING......
but same thing if husband do that it would be against her privacy and freedom.....he will be called controlling freak
she was so eager to find something in her husband phone that she feel disappointed when there marriage Anniversary was his passcode and there daughter was on only person in his gallery , its like she was hoping her husband to cheat so she can sleep with that team leader.
just because her team leader lover was a stalker she believe her husband was cheating 150% even before she found him
and all we saw was her husband meeting her friend, and this make him cheater without any proof
how little she trust her husband..

at end her lover ask her if she is hiding something from him like CEO need to tell her team leader everything ?
she was having an emotional affair with her co-worker but it was nothing because she is FL, but her husband cheating is big deal.
i can understand her crying for her stepfather and husband but why she is crying this hard remembering her co-worker like that, he is more then just employee
YOU just release same drama before Park min young with your fake acting Jang Na Ra,
Marry my Husband copy that come 2 days before

Yoon tae Oh....... will be the man to save damsel in distress
Yoon tea Oh girlfriend is not even listed as cast for this drama which we know is going to be dumped anytime ..
because all the time we spent together is more then the time you spent with your husband and daughter.......By Team Leader who isn't stalker but 1000% good guy who will dump his girlfriend anytime CEO invite him into her bed.

..............EP2
FL can enjoy her work affair anytime she want but her husband isn't allowed to have a affair why ?
worst FL character ever her trust goes and she started treating her family like trash without proof, when she regain trust in them she spent her time with her office lover....
no wonder her husband cheat on her, this is only show i am on side of cheater because FL deserve it,

ep3 her lover will help her in catching her husband cheat while they also having an affair...
The disrespect she shows towards her husband,
I really hope her husband cheat and leave her with there daughter too..

Ep 6
There is chance she was screwing her so called co worker from moment she got married but our ML is big worst Guy..
Ep 7
So woman drunk and cheat and still play victim card and show her crocodile tears

Deception and Courage.

This drama transcends the ordinary, presenting a facade of normalcy while concealing layers of deceit within Dereve, the company led by Jang Nara's character. From start to finish, I was deeply engaged, experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions. Jang Nara's portrayal was captivating, as she navigated the complexities of her character's motivations within her own company. What initially seemed like a simple tale of betrayal and revenge evolved into a multifaceted narrative, with each episode delivering unforeseen twists. The character development was masterfully executed, leaving me constantly guessing about what would happen next. Despite facing numerous challenges, the protagonist remained resilient, with Lee Ki Taek providing steadfast support. Overall, it's a compelling watch, reaffirming Jang Nara's talent and the drama's ability to keep viewers enthralled till the very end.

"falling in multiple disasters at one day" is what I derived from this trash script!!!

this should be rather called "my terrified end" so much dark and heavy plot, all the misfortunes irrationally falling over the head of the female lead at one time: being stalked, caught her husband cheating with her fake and abominable close friend, suspecting her step father for murdering her mother and doubting her subordinate being the one who attacked and thrown her in the river...

I was wondering before watching about a romance between the female lead and second male lead, but it is so normally to not have the slightest here as she is experiencing a storm of disasters in her life, female lead is feeling so queasy from her cheating husband who is acting so coldly and calling her "yobo/honey"so brazenly!!!! he should be a little smarter to make his cheating successful and not being caught so soon!!!! even he wants their daughter to be used to his lover while the female lead is busy all the days at work, but really the female lead doesn't deserving all this torture in her life, what the scriptwriter is feeling in his life with this complicated and repulsive script?!!?!!

I could barely continue the first 2 episodes, this is a total failure in the history of korean dramas!!!! I don't recommend it at all for anybody and I will even consider that I didn't watch cause it is hard to reach the half of it already

8 is an over rating for such a trash husband and hypocritical friend of the female lead, I wish her husband and friend end up in hell for this daring and gross impudence, if it was a thailand version they should add like popular lakorns rape/slap and kiss in the same day she is facing all these calamities, it is not like a korean style drama watched before like they are taking something from old lakorns

if they gave some space for an impossible romance between female lead and second male lead I could thinking about giving a try to continue otherwise this is A BIG NO!!!! so depressive and I feel so disgusting from such a liar husband and friend pretending to care about the female lead...

the ost is the only thing acceptable but wish if a romance blossomed between female lead and second male lead then the story will take another turn to be barely accepted regarding this waste of script!!!

I’m really disappointed !

Honestly I hate this series so much. The writing is so lazy. Many plot holes and incoherences especially in the medical field. For example, who would lay down a patient in their wet clothes at hospital ?? Another example would be the fact she was moving normally when she was supposed to have fractured ribs…

Soon as the series was announced to be, I was so excited because I love the genre (psychological/thriller) and Jang Na-Ra. First episode was good but with defaults. I tried to ignore them and gave the series another chance with the second episode because most K-dramas get very good from ep2. But no ! This was horrible asf !!

The female lead is unfortunately REALLY weak. I mean everyone would be vulnerable with all what’s going on in her life (being cheated on, stalked, mom that might have been killed by step dad) but she was being way too annoying always whimpering, making things before thinking about it…
I get she’s the bread winner and also doesn’t want her company reputation to get bad but at some point security matters ! She was being stalked for 7 years and didn’t even have bodyguards or any security system. What kind of nonsense is this ??? When she happened to learn about what was going on in her surroundings, she decided to take her revenge and I felt like the series could eventually begin but as always she disappointed me ugh ! She would for example litteraly tell her husband that is cheating on her about what she knows every time she gets angry ! Why ???? That’s really stupid right. Like plz gather evidence and just try to act cool until the moment has come oh gosh !
Another example would be her getting angry or just losing it in public, knocking like crazy at someone’s door because she thought her daughter was in there… She would also expose her best friend at a college former students get-together. I mean gurl who would do that to their best friend ? We all know what she did but you should have taken on yourself, stopped drinking or messing around trying to play the detective when you don’t even gather anything, until you have everything ready to serve them the revenge they deserve !

THAT’S WHAT I WANTED !

To end this review, just keep in mind the OSTs were the only good thing in the series. I dropped the series at the end of ep2. Even the comment section on Viki was bad especially at the beggining. Many were just being mysoginistic towards FL for prioritizing work over her family. But hear me out, it’s a really bad thing to not being able to manage the life-work balance but when women do that in series or irl stop calling them out because when it’s men y’all don’t point out and don’t come at them either…

The writing is bad! The drama only focused on creating drama and more drama, without any regards of the characters personality and development. Although I really like the main actors, I can't continue watching because of the poor writing. This drama has the worst FL. As a mother she's never there for her daughter, and she's even worst as a wife. As an absent mother, she desperately holding on to her daughter, without caring about how her actions hurt her daughter. As an absent wife, she demand her husband to be as loyal as a dog and accommodate her every needs. She also cheat on her husband emotionally ( cheating is cheating, wether emotionally or physically ). And despite all of that, the drama portray FL as a victim, the purest, most pitiful angel. FL is supposed to be a very well accomplished person, smart, successful, resourceful, and yet she doesn't show any bit of rational or logical thinking in any of her actions.
