It's very hard to rate this drama

Overall, it's super hard to rate this drama because I have very mixed feelings about it.
I never read anything about omegaverse, so I came in as a newbie. I don't mind the omegaverse at all and was quite interested except for how it sometimes just looks like r*pe and it's uncomfortable to think about. So I believe it's more about portrayal than the omegaverse idea itself.

In my humble opinion, the manipulation part drags on for way too long, and some of the manipulations tactics by Hua Young are very close to, if not straight up, disrespectful towards real abuse victims. Especially since this, specifically, didn't feel 100% necessary to the plot. Because of this, I had a hard time liking Hua Young for a long time. However, from the moment he came clean, it was a mischievous and fun character to watch, and I could fully appreciate Hua Young's actor's skill. I wish I could have seen more of his real persona earlier in the drama.

Then there is the second couple. As much as I like the main couple in the end, I started the drama because I really wanted to see the second couple's development all the way through. I don't mind them having very little screen time, since the main couple is entertaining enough ; however, it was truly disappointing that they didn't get a real conclusion. I would have liked just one more scene of them just talking for once in the whole drama, and I wouldn't have felt that disappointed lol.
Tbh, as is, Gao Tu could have not existed and it wouldn't have changed much in my opinion. Like, don't get me wrong I love Gao Tu and this is why I feel that way ; Gao Tu and Shen Wen Lang's plotline was cut so short that it might as well have been completely absent from the drama.

The ending of the drama overall was cut way too short or in a weird way so that it felt like there would be a next episode.

Anyway, there are multiple parts I didn't like, in this drama, but other parts were still entertaining enough that I finished it quite easily. This is why I can't rate it neither really high nor low.
I think there are many things that could have been better, but I liked it enough that I still want to rate it a bit high to encourage the BL Drama world to try and portray more special and unusual stories like this.

Came for Gao and Shen? This Drama Will Disappoint You

I’m honestly really disappointed with this drama.

I first found it through a YouTube clip of Gao and Shen, and their scene looked so interesting that I immediately searched for the drama and started watching it. Later I realized they were only the second couple, not the main leads. That was a bit disappointing, but I still decided to watch because I thought both couples would get good screen time.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case at all.

I couldn’t really get interested in the main couple and story line too, but I kept watching because of Gao and S. They were the only reason I continued the drama. But the biggest problem is that they barely gave them any screen time. Their story felt rushed and underdeveloped, which was really frustrating.

What made it even worse was the ending. I at least expected a happy ending for them after everything. Instead, the story completely ruined their characters and their relationship. It felt unfair and honestly pointless after making viewers care about them.

Because of that, this drama ended up being a huge disappointment for me. I watched it mainly for Gao and Shen, but they deserved so much better than what the writers gave them.

I especially wouldn’t recommend this drama to people who started it after watching YouTube clips of Gao and Shen, because those clips make it seem like they have a bigger and better story than they actually do.

Bittersweet Ending!

I really enjoyed the drama overall, but I’m quite disappointed with the ending. I expected more since the story started off so great. As it approached the ending, it became somewhat disappointing.

The first couple's story was compelling, and they ended on a decent note. However, the second couple received less screen time and had an unsatisfactory ending.

What bothers me the most is the rushed ending. It felt like they were running out of time and hurried through all the important scenes, especially the reunion between Gao Tu and Wen Lang.

The story had wonderful potential, and if they had paid attention to certain details, it could have been an outstanding omegaverse series.

Inflicting Misfortune

If you like dark romance maybe you'll like this but I don't.
It's really a sadistic and stalker ways that just being pass on by many just because they're handsome. Like the events leading to other leads distressed and misfortune? it all comes with their partner.
I also read and finish the novel just because I was hoping for better but no. It's like inflicting the wound putting salt and licking it. It's typical c novels of damsels and unfortunate but in this one it is forced to be that. Not by circumstances but by their own partners.
Many events have plot holes. And fans keeps romanticizing it, ignoring the blazing red flags waving everywhere. So yeah not for me. This should be tag as dark romance because it is.

My ABO Desire Obsession

ABO Desire has me in a chokehold right now. Every episode is full of calculated moves — especially Hua Yong, who is strategically pulling every string to get Sheng Shaoyou’s attention. Our cold CEO Alpha doesn’t even realize he’s walking right into Hua Yong’s trap, and I’m living for every stare, every smirk, every move.

Then there’s Shen Wenlang and Gao Tu… oh my god. 😤 Every time Wenlang snaps at Gao Tu, I want to shake him. Like, sir, you like him — stop being jealous over an Omega scent when you don’t even know Gao Tu is an Omega! Their scenes have me yelling at the screen and craving the moment the truth drops.

Beautiful visuals, intense plotting, addictive tension — this series is a rollercoaster of schemes, secrets, and emotions. I’m counting the days till the next episode.

Even if you don't like omegaverse watch this

If you haven’t watched ABO Desire, you’re missing out on one of the most intense and addictive series out there.
Sheng shou you(S class- Alpha) × hua yong (enigma):
I absolutely love Hua Yong’s craziness. He is wild his love for sheng shou you reaches the high limit. He may appear as toxic and manipulative but his love for sheng shou you that make him look that way. He can do anything to make sheng shou you fall for him. As the story shows sheng ahou you is player who has many ex, hua yong need to do all that crazy staff so that sheng shou you would love him as real.
Shen wen lang(S class- alpha) × gao tu(omega):
I really love gao tu. If you see the series you will know our first omega shown on any series. first As for second couple, i read novel and thus series how's exactly novel was written. For the second couple there are side stories that focuses on just on them. Maybe the series also will have side story focuses on them. But as the serie show. Shen wen lang and gao tu story that is well shown to the series. Shen wen lang ia dumb and gao tu is most poor baby out there.
You will like this show if you watch it. Even if are not a omegaverse fan you will like it. It is well developed in many way.
Ps: Hua yong supremacy & Shen wen lang dumb brain. Two bestie on mission.

OMEGAVERSE IS PEAK!!!

Disclaimer: I'm a huge yapper. I really tried my best to keep this as short as possible.

I genuinely don’t know how to explain the grip this series has on me except by saying it’s like watching a slow-motion car crash you can’t look away from, but this time, it’s moving, breathing, alive on screen, and it’s everything I’ve ever wanted from an omegaverse adaptation. From episode one, ABO Desire said, “Let’s throw logic out the window and go full feral obsession,” and I swear, I was instantly hooked. A live-action omegaverse? With an omega pretending to be a beta, and an enigma passing as an omega, and both bottoms getting mpreg arcs? This is literally my ROMAN EMPIRE. Every week, I was sitting there vibrating with excitement, unable to believe I was actually watching it happen in real life, pheromone-induced tension, domestic intimacy, rut breakdowns, heats, everything. And listen, when I tell you the domestic scenes had me giddy, I mean GIDDY. Seeing Huayong and Shaoyou together, just existing, brushing hands, cooking, breathing in sync, I was smiling like an idiot. Those little soft moments, the ones that the novel described in such detail, came alive so naturally that I could feel them in my chest. For someone who’s loved omegaverse stories since forever, it felt unreal to actually see the dynamics, the instincts, the hierarchy, the pheromones, the tenderness, portrayed earnestly on screen. And the mpreg? I cannot lie, I was thrilled. I LOVE mpreg; I love the emotional and biological intimacy of it, the idea of love manifesting physically, and seeing it done here made me so happy I almost screamed. Both bottoms being mpregs? Beautiful. The omega who pretends to be a beta and the enigma with the alpha? Iconic. Sure, I’m sad we didn’t get to see the actual bump, but honestly, I’ll take what I can get. Just the fact that a live-action show went there feels like a victory for every omegaverse lover out there. But beneath all that fluff, the drama in this series had me pacing like a caged animal. Gao Tu’s father? The worst. The way he snitched on his own son, like betrayal was an Olympic sport, had me yelling at my screen. Then Sheng Shaoqing, literally actively trying to kill his brother, like what the actual fuck bro? Mans was mad at Shaoyou over a version he deluded himself into thinking, and Sheng Shaoyou’s father.... Every scene he was in made me physically uncomfortable; he’s just such an annoying piece of shit. Like, who in their right mind hears about how their child hated how YOU cheated on their mum, and you go and tell him to cheat on his partner?? I really don’t know why you would even say that, and shamelessly too!! Shaoyou, my poor softhearted angel, has a heart so big it’s almost a curse. He forgives too easily, loves too deeply, and it breaks me because he’s surrounded by people who don’t deserve that kind of grace. Every time he cries or quietly endures something painful, it’s like he’s absorbing the world’s cruelty and still choosing to stay kind. Wenlang, on the other hand, makes me want to scream. This man never shuts up; every sentence out of his mouth is coated in jealousy and bitterness. He’s obsessed with Gao Tu but too repressed to admit it, so instead he lashes out like a child. It’s frustrating and pitiful, and yet, I can’t look away. And Gao Tu, my sweet, patient omega, the way he just stands there, quietly taking all of Wenlang’s nonsense, forgiving him, loving him anyway, it kills me. The tension between them, that slow, torturous unravelling of pride and jealousy into something resembling affection, is exquisite. I wanted to throw things every time Wenlang said something cruel, but when he finally softened, even just a little, it was like fireworks in a storm. Their relationship is chaotic, infuriating, and messy as hell, but that’s exactly what makes it so captivating. And then there’s Hua Yong. Oh my god. Clinically insane. Not “haha quirky” insane, I mean full textbook delusional, obsessive, your existence is my oxygen insane, and it’s glorious. Fifteen years of plotting, scheming, and building entire companies named after his rejection? “X Holdings” and “HS Holdings”? Sir, therapy. Immediately. But also, never change. Hua Yong is the ultimate yandere: manipulative, brilliant, terrifyingly devoted, and yet so charming you can’t help but root for him even when he’s doing something utterly unhinged. His obsession with Shaoyou is religious; he worships him, breathes him. He literally rewired his identity, disguised himself as an omega, and mutilated himself during rut just to stay in Shaoyou’s orbit. That’s not love, that’s divine madness. And Shaoyou is the only person keeping this man from fully descending into hell. Fragile, kind, yet somehow still the moral anchor holding this chaotic universe together. Every time Hua Yong spirals, Shaoyou’s presence is what tethers him to reality. And when he tends to Hua Yong’s wounds even after learning everything that he’s been manipulated, lied to, and even assaulted, it’s both maddening and heartbreakingly human. He’s angry, hurt, and confused, but his heart refuses to stop caring. It’s tragic and infuriating and beautiful all at once. The pheromone dynamics were done so well that it’s almost unreal, the scent triggers, the modifiers, the possessiveness, all of it dripping with tension. Hua Yong pretending to be an omega to fit Shaoyou’s type? That’s pure Oscar-worthy desperation. The self-harm as love-language moments? Insane. The letters, the marking scenes, the kidnapping arc where Hua Yong, like a deranged superhero, declares, “he’s mine”? I was shrieking. The man is out of his mind, but he’s so entertaining you can’t even be mad. And then that pregnancy arc? Absolute perfection. Hua Yong was practically glowing with manic joy because he’s created life, while Shaoyou is mad and sassy, but at least he actually listened and believed Huayong. The last few episodes did feel rushed, especially compared to the slow-burn build of the earlier ones, but since the series followed the novel’s ending exactly, I can’t even be annoyed. They skipped the extra chapters, and that’s fine. No one ever really includes those domestic wrap-ups anyway. Would I have loved to see them? OF COURSE!!! Would I have cried over a visible mpreg bump or a quiet post-bond domestic epilogue? Absolutely. But even without it, the series ended exactly where it needed to. It delivered everything I love about omegaverse: the obsession, the pheromones, the tenderness, the twisted devotion, the mpreg joy, the domestic warmth, and the madness that binds it all together. It’s deranged, it’s emotional, it’s addictive, and I cannot stop thinking about it. ABO Desire is chaotic perfection, toxic, heartfelt, hilarious, and unhinged, and I’d rewatch it a hundred times just to feel that same giddy, feral thrill again.

I laughed so much without someone telling jokes

"Desire" is one of the very few dramas I watched every week patiently since it aired (last one was Reborn Rich in fact), so I'll be missing it a lot. It was a rather slow drama and not that much happened in each of the episodes, but there are so many details provided that are easy to miss. At the same time, I spent every episode laughing so much that I couldn't feel sorry for anyone. Hua Yong performing as a white lotus and being manipulative? It's hilarious. Wenlang having zero brain cells? Shaoyou worrying about Hua Yong? It was so much fun, and I'm really going to miss this series a lot.

I loved the slow pace that still kept me entertained and stopped me from skipping things, I loved their chemistry and the amazing kissing scenes - it's probably one of the most amazing BL dramas in that regard.
At the same time, I don't understand why some consider Huang Xing a bad actor - he did a really good job performing as a complicated character such as Hua Yong without turning him into a joke, which could've happened given the nature of his character. The music was just as amazing - especially the main theme.

And yes, I do agree that 1-2 more episodes would've been better to provide a proper end to the drama, especially regarding the secondary couple. Even in the novel, they at least talked about the matter more or less and provided some more hints about their future. They could've done that in the drama as well, or added some new scenes to improve the original work. Unfortunately, this didn't happen. It's a missed chance - but I suppose the whole story of the secondary couple was a problematic one from the start. They never really communicated or admitted their feelings properly, so I'm surprised how much some viewers invested into them and their story. Don't get me wrong, it's fine - but their impact remained rather small.

For me, Hua Yong was the most interesting character in Desire, and that never changed for me watching this. All his schemes, his crazy behaviors turned showed him as a natural "bad person" that still couldn't be disliked given his craziness about Shaoyou - they couldn't have pulled this off if the couple had a bad chemistry or if Huang Xing did a bad job in my opinion.

In addition, I'm happy that they dared to make an Omegaverse series. As a fan of the genre who's been reading Omegaverse since it emerged in Japanese BLs years ago, it has amazed me how they managed to somehow provide explanations and turn it into such a long and fascinating drama. Let's be honest, Omegaverse isn't exactly known for great storytelling or anything - but I think they did an amazing job introducing this subgenre to a bigger audience - and I'm very thankful for it while hoping there will be more adaptions in the future (I mean "Knot" already got announced...).

I'm not sure if I would really continue this drama's story that mainly focused on Hua Yong's big scheme, but I suppose the secondary couple does deserve a little more attention (even if they didn't want to be as intimate eventually).
All in all, this drama will remain memorable for many reasons - for being a fans' dream coming to life or for showing how amazing stories Chinese producers could tell in the BL genre if they are allowed to. I am grateful as well that I had the opportunity to watch this and participate in editing and translating it on Viki. Thank you, ABO Desire!

Really good drama, but the rapist storyline…

The show is really good, my first introduction to the omegaverse and im really enjoying it. I would give it a perfect score, but the relationship of the main couple transforming into a rapist storyline who manipulates a persons feelings and lies about their identity is really uncomfortable for me, thus im not really rooting for them as a couple, which defeats the purpose of a Boys Love for me. im mainly sticking through it for the secondary couple which is more interesting to me and far more entertaining.
Basically near perfect drama, but get rid of the raping…

PERFECT SERIES,

FR, Abo Desire is a truly beautifully blends an intimate love story with deeper themes of identity and self-acceptance. The cinematography is stunning, the soundtrack resonates with emotion, and the performances feel raw and authentic. This film goes beyond romance—it is about courage, honesty, and the universal search for belonging. Watching it is not just entertainment, but an emotional journey that lingers long after the credits roll. A must-watch for everyone.
