Don't Be Too Emotional

อย่าขอพี่เจน ‧ Drama ‧ 2026
Like the intertwined strands of a double helix, some lives, once connected, are inseparable by fate.

Spanning across a decade, Cheng Yi Chen and Lu Feng’s story starts in high school, where two seeming opposites are drawn together by an undeniable pull. What starts as rivalry and friendship slowly deepens into something far more fragile, forbidden, and profound. Navigating the blurred lines, the two best friends enter into a budding romance while at University, only to be torn apart abruptly by family expectations and societal judgement.

Separated without warning, Lu Feng is trapped by his family in the United States, while Yi Chen is forced to transfer schools and rebuild a life around the absence of the one person he cannot forget. Oceans apart and with no promise of tomorrow, their love becomes a memory neither can escape.

Years later, the couple reunites in a twist of events when Yi Chen realises his new boss is Lu Feng. Overcoming old wounds, buried truths and misunderstandings, they find their way back to each other, only to be pulled apart once more by family and duties. Caught between the life expected of them and the love that has defined them, Yi Chen and Lu Feng must decide how much they are willing to lose for the chance to finally belong to each other.

Dark BL romance with manipulative (perhaps toxic) and incredibly possessive male lead with a good-guy second lead.

Similarities:
- “Boyfriend behavior” before they're officially together
- OSTs give off the same vibe
- Possessiveness/jealousy
- Dark themed dramas
- Emotional Conflict
- Both are BL dramas
- work/professional settings with romance
- Dramas were released during 2026

Differences:
- Don't be Too Emotioal is a Thailand BL drama, while The Prosecutor's Proposal is a South Korean BL drama

Manipluative male lead in both,
possessive male leads
morally grey male leads
both mc somehow get romantically involved with their male leads without necessarily wanting to be.
i'm just getting the same vibes 3 eps in.

If you enjoy morally dubious love interests, unreliable narrators, Faustian deals, and romances with body counts, might I suggest that fans of one will enjoy the other? 7 Days Before Valentine is about a struggling actor while Don't Be Too Emotional is about a university student preparing to take over his family's Traditional Chinese Medicine pharmacy, but the implications of supernatural elements is played in much the same way across both series and to similar effect.

BOTH ARE:
-BLs
- has one of the two main characters forcing the other to do what he pleases.
-there is a lot of manipulation happening in both dramas.
-the toxicity level is shockingly similar
- would think the two dramas are sharing the same universe if i didnt know better.

Both of these dramas main plot point is that the ML is a 'demon'. In both dramas the ML who is a 'demon' makes binding contracts with people and comes to collect at some point. In both dramas this ML who is a 'demon' falls in love with the other lead who has an innocent quality to their character. And in both dramas this lead can't help but love them even when they know they shouldn't. Besides all of this, these dramas are drastically different. So you get a whole fresh story with fresh plot points which is great.

In both of these boys love dramas both of the seme characters have an authority / power control over the other and the uke characters despite knowing the lack of morals still love the other main character and the story revolves around their highly toxic and intense relationship.
