One of this Year's Best

A fresh approach to the overabundance of crime and murder shows coming out of Japan, this series boasts an award-winning director and a struggling screenwriter investigating a murder case that occurred in their hometown. The female leads deliver incredible acting, maintaining a perfect pace throughout. The story, while tying up neatly, remains a beautiful and haunting tale of grief, the need for connection, and understanding. With only 4 episodes, it's a definite recommendation and one of the best of this year

not a thrilling thriller, but turned out good

A young director with a prestigious award from her first film, will make a second film about the homicide of a family by their own son, because somehow it was related to her own past. It turned out that on her journey in preparing the material for the film, she found many facts that had not even been revealed at the trial. She was also involved with a scriptwriter who apparently had a past related to the case.

Apart from presenting the case that will be made into a film, this drama also presents the two main characters with their own past trauma and their fears in facing sadness and the difficulty of moving on. Their journey in uncovering the facts of the case became a stepping stone for them so that they could gain the courage to face their respective fears.

This is a drama I watched with low expectations and it turned out to be good. Even though it is tagged with thriller genre, this is not the type of drama that gives you a suspenseful sensation, but instead gives you a feeling of empathy. This drama is not the type of suspense drama with an unpredictable plot twist, but the type of drama that can make you moved.

Engaging slowburn with some stunning visuals

So Another good drama from WOWOW (it's a 4-episode mini drama, so one can finish it in one sitting). I was also looking forward to this when I saw it was Kanae Minato's novel adaptation. So this takes you on a journey from the perspective of a female director who wanted to make a film about an old murder case involving a girl named Tateishi Sara. Whome she thinks is the one who saved her and gave confident while she was being abused by her mother when she was little ... From there, the story progresses as she wants to know the truth about tateishi sara's murder mystery so she could make an film about it with the help of the other female protagonist Kai mahiro and from there the plot progresses ahead (like all of Kanae Minato's works, this also doesn't involve the police or lawayers in solving mysteries. And that's fr better haha honestly give you different prespective ).

Regarding the drama, it focused more on the psychological aspect and the mental state of the people involved in the cases rather than being a thriller throughout...it was still an engaging slow burn.... even though being inconsistent with the pace sometimes. And overall, which was I think was the only downside for me,but I still watched it in one sitting because I was craving for answers, haha.

Now, coming back to the good parts, which are the cinematography and the acting performances 🤌🏻( kitagawa keiko is still hot man damn) Well Both female leads did a good job, and as for Kubo Shiori, this was a totally different character for sure. It might have been challenging for her, but I'm glad she's taking on roles like this... (I really liked how she smirked every time, lol).
Last ep was probably the best and had good wrap up to the story overall quite emotional ride I had with this... This could have been worked as a movie too honestly bt anyway

Overall It is good quick binge watch

The promise that will never come true

Masterpiece!! Minato Kanae novel adaptation never fail me .. Together with WOWOW network, double greatness!! The script, the cinematography, the acting and the mystery makes me stay through out the drama.. It makes me binge-watching in one shot.. Worth it!!

It was totally heartbreaking knowing the truth T_T ... The truth from the murderer, the director & the screenwriter... This drama is everything.. Especially if you're seeking for deep mystery, dark cinematography, and suspenseful mood.. I love how well written they make the story related together from the beginning until the end.. As expected from WOWOW drama production..

Apart from that, I never thought I need the combination between Kitagawa Keiko and Yoshioka Riho until I watch this drama... Both of them have amazingly chemistry here.. They totally carry out the whole drama with outstanding performance..

Overall, thank you so much to Hpriest pick up this drama bcoz I plan to watch it the moment they announced the drama ^_^ Satisfying at its finest.. Highly recommended!!
