i am happily married to this show. forever.

somehow, i always find my way back to this series. i've said this before but this series navigates love in every kind of way soso beautifully im still stunned.

"myung-ha, you don't have to go through everything by yourself anymore."

this shows the kind of love that surrounds the average person - the love of support. the fact that 29 year old tae myung-ha had forms of depression and ended up drowning himself but then regretted it at the last second and begged to stay in death shows that we should all be given chances - and give life a chance to improve and to find love in all forms.

"i want to stay. i want to stay. with yeo-woon"

this shows the intense affection - and eventually love - myung-ha possesses for yeo-woon and how experiencing life through his younger self helped him learn to love and find happiness in the small things. he at first rejected yeo-woon but started to fall for him. every time i watch the scene of them on the rooftop and myung-ha says "i love you cha yeo-woon" under his breath, i still giggle. one of my favourite bits.

"but cha yeo-woon is still unhappy / that's just life / but being fated to live that kind of life, is just so unfair."

i love this scene. it shows not only the perspective of myung-ha on love and society, it depicts the savage way some people are just left alone and don't get their happy ending. they are pushed away and are forgotten. this series brings the idea of including everybody and finding your own unexpected happy ending.

as i've said before - this series is not about a game. i love to think of it as the game is a message to its viewers about the events and roads of life. the "system errors" that myung-ha experiences pop up when events in any human being's life happens - the first i love you, the tragedy of picking between people, feeling rejection and loneliness.
the fact that this concept was all to make tae myung-ha love himself and find happiness breaks me everytime - it was never about cha yeo-woon (no offence, he's still so adorable and so key to the story).

"and i died like that on that day. but i regretted it at the last minute. regretting everything."

"i wish that i would disappear"

these are spoken by 29 year old tae myung-ha, who shows strong signs of depression and ends up drowning himself, though regretting it at the last minute. this shows a darker side to the human mind - that it can twist and turn against it's own body if it experiences unpleasant emotions and events. for tae myung-ha, being alone and rejected by his mother is enough to be gone. he is then given a chance to enjoy life again and find that happiness that had disappeared. it sends a message that even if the darkest of tunnels, you can still find a light.
i love this series with everything because not only are cha yeo-woon and tae myung-ha SO ADORABLE, it discusses every form of love: romantic, platonic, relative - everything. it also has darker topics as shown by senior tae myung-ha who is entirely alone and abandoned.

dare i say best kbl i've ever seen and probably will ever see. yes, i do dare.

"senior. i get it now why you like the sea. im starting to like it too."

it was never about the sea...👨‍❤️‍💋‍👨

Fantastic story with a deeper meaning

I binged it in one night. It wasn’t too cheesy and I loved the video game concept. The characters are easy to fall in love with. I don’t want to say to much but I caught on to the ending around episode 5. It was still beautiful to watch. It was heartwarming to watch the MLs relationship blossom. Honestly, I have nothing bad to say about this series.

Also big THANK YOU to Korea for giving us 40min episodes. 😍The plot didn’t feel rushed, character development was nice and the ending was satisfying. I hope we get more series like this one.

PERFECT! A MASTERPIECE

Flawless, a masterpiece. It delivered absolutely everything. I have no idea how I’m supposed to go on with my life now that it’s over and I no longer have this perfection to watch and fill my days. Touching and beautiful. I’ll definitely rewatch it in the near future.
The main characters filled my heart with their romance, and the supporting characters were well-developed and just as captivating as the leads. I wish there had been more episodes — eight felt way too few, and I would’ve gladly watched many more.

Intrigued and not disappointed !

First of all, I watched this series after a long time without watching any Kbl and BL in general because the lack of budget in this field and the low quality series i had watched made me drop the genre for a while.

What was my surprise when I found out this series exist, and how much more surprising to see that this can actually be considered like real cinema !

The film direction and the editing are crazily great, i can’t remember the last time i watched a show with such great choices of shots and camera work ! I don’t think I know other works directed by this show’s director, but now i want to discover more because - WOW ! Fabulous job (especially the last episode) !

The storytelling is very interesting too, the way to share informations to the spectators in this series is mostly original, even when the plot is as complicated as this one, it works out perfectly and i must admit that the screenwriter did an awesome job to make this understandable AND enjoyable ! When you think you know what might happen, you just end even more enraptured in the story because it’s not what you expected but it works anyway.

Moreover, the characters personalities are not the plain old stuff we can watch in other Kbl, and that’s why this might be one of my favorite ! Not to mention the cast who delivered a fantastic performance during the whole show, overflowing of the right emotions every time needed !

The only shortcoming i could think of would be the musics used, that i think were either too deeply rooted in the infamous korean romcom style or just here to amplified the already established feelings of some scenes, when it didn’t really need to be.

I saw some comments mentioning a deus ex machina at the end, and though i can understand why they think the end might be coming out of nowhere, I think the kind of confusing setting and the whole video game trope allowed the diegesis of the story to have some resolution like the one a lot of viewers criticised so much. I mean, i don’t think we can even know the real truth of this ending because of the two different universe this series is including, and i might be wrong but i think it’s exactly what the director and the screenwriter wanted so I’m assuming this “deus ex machina” thing mentioned is actually the only reasonable ending we could have expected (if we wanted a happy ending that is).

Anyways, it feels so refreshing to see that this kind of quality stuff is possible even in a field that can’t have the same budget or the same amount of public as heterosexual content ! Good job on this one, I’m waiting for your next work director ! :)

Fresh idea, Excellent execution

I just want to say congratulations to everyone involved with this show because it was perfect. I have loved Korean bls because of the production value and this show took it to another level. The plot, the world building, the acting, everything was amazing and it is definitely starting the year on a very high point. I was already interested in watching this because of Woongki but I never imagined the show was going to be this incredible. The shows this year are going to have to be amazing for this to not be in my top 5 at the end of the year. Lee Tae Vin was absolutely amazing in this considering how difficult it must be to portray his character and I'll definitely look out for more of his projects in the future.

She's talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show-stopping,

When news of this show first reached my ears, I must admit, I was somewhat hesitant. After all, I'd encountered my fair share of typical high school Korean BL dramas in the past. However, the mention of Woong Gi's involvement sparked a flicker of interest within me. And let me tell you, deciding to give it a shot turned out to be a choice I do not regret!

The show's storyline is a complex and detailed work of art that captivates viewers with its intricate plotlines and unexpected twists. Each moment keeps you on the edge of your seat, making it hard to look away. The characters are equally impressive, with depth and authenticity that bring them to life before your eyes. This show is a shining example of the power of storytelling and the magic it can bring to our lives.

But what truly steals the spotlight is Lee Tae Vin’s portrayal of Tae Myung Ha. His performance is nothing short of mesmerizing; he imbues the character with complexity and subtlety. The other characters were also impressive, including Yeon Woo, who served as the endearing "cute puppy sunflower" of the show. The exploration of the theme of regret with the rarity of second chances, resonates deeply. As the dynamic between Yeon-woo and Myung-ha blossoms, the desire for a more conclusive resolution intensifies.

As a devoted fan of the show, I must confess that its ending left me with a whirlwind of emotions. While I appreciate the closure it provided and the loose ends it tied up, I couldn't help but feel a yearning for more. The plot and its characters are too rich and multi-dimensional to be contained in just one season. That's why the possibility of a second season is more than just a hopeful prospect it's a necessity.

In conclusion, this show has far surpassed my initial expectations. It stands as a testament to exceptional storytelling, with a plot that keeps you hooked from start to finish, characters you can't help but root for, and performances that leave you in awe. Without a shred of doubt, I wholeheartedly award it a perfect 10/10 rating. It's a must-watch for anyone seeking a riveting storyline brought to life by a stellar cast.

Amazing positive messages about learning to love life and your loved ones

Love for Love's sake is a beautiful story that captures the growth of both MLs in learning to love life in new ways. Finding those who truly care about you whether that is friends, family or romantic partners. I love this drama for the beautiful messages it conveys.
Now into the SPOILERS
-
-
I commend this drama for so so many reasons.
Firstly, obviously its a BL but the way they address homophobia is wonderful. They truly show that love is love, it doesn't matter who is involved.
Secondly, this drama was able to explore the regret behind suicide in a way that doesn't shame the victim. In the recent drama Death's Game the main plot point and message were very similar however, what Death's Game failed to achieve was a true sense of compassion for the victims who felt they had no other option than to turn to suicide. In Love for Love's sake the ML is able to enter into the game and truly learn and grow rather than be punished and repeatedly shamed for his decision. The ML is able to change his mind because he truly feels that his life has worth and meaning, not simply guilt tripped that his death caused pain and inconvenience to others.
Amazing story and acting. There were a few parts where I was slightly confused by the story progression but it is forgivable.

Must watch

It comes across as a cutesy BL featuring a video game simulation, but it turns out to be so much deeper than that. Honestly may be my new favorite BL. Beautiful story, amazing cast, incredible acting. It shows the importance of self-love, how avoidant attachment styles can negatively impact relationships and the joy of second chances. So many of us believe we are not deserving of love, and we are. Just like this show portrays. I’m so happy Tae got to experience what it’s like to love and be loved in return. He deserved it

Please watch it without having high expectations

You should watch it without any spoilers or expectations because, wow, this might just become one of my favorite BL shows ever! Initially, I thought it might be a cheesy comedy, but it turned out to have a much darker twist. The way Yeo Woon mirrored Myungha's real-life experiences truly shows how Myungha is attempting to help him overcome his past mistakes. I found myself in tears when Myungha's mother refused to acknowledge his existence and the realization that the game was created to bring him happiness, not for anyone else's benefit.

The depth and complexity of the characters in this show are truly remarkable. Each episode reveals new layers of their personalities and motivations, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats. The chemistry between Yeo Woon and Myungha is palpable, and their evolving relationship is both heartwarming and heart-wrenching to witness. The intricate storytelling and stunning cinematography make this BL show a must-watch for fans of the genre. So, grab some tissues and prepare to be taken on an emotional rollercoaster ride filled with love, friendship, and redemption.

What the hell was that??!!!

This is absolutely the best kbl ever. I can even go as far as to say best bl ever.

I love myuang ha, our main lead. His acting was phenomenal. I can literally feel the confusion, fear, irritation and love through the screen from him. He is definitely a gem.
Yeon woo was just an adorable baby. I love the changes in his behaviour after he started falling for myuang ha. His little smiles and giggles whenever he saw him was just uggggggghhh(≧▽≦).
And the best part he didn't took too much time to realise his feelings. He was so sure and true to his feelings. Also even though there were circumstances that stopped myuang ha from doing the same. We could still feel that he is too falling for him.
The other characters were amazing too.
I loved sang won's character. I felt bad for him but I loved it that he didn't started hating on Yeon woo just because he became his love rival. Moreover, he started helping him more because he loved myuang ha which is adorable and shows how much he really cared for myuang to even do what makes myuang ha happy. He is lovely and I wish he finds himself a lover too in their universe.

I won't say much even though I did but Just watch it.
Definitely worth every second.

undoubtably among my top 5 KBLs

holy shit - i was absolutely sat for this series

storyline: i've never seen anything like it. there was underlying mystery, anticipation, and a true belief in the main character to find the right answers. i'm not a huge fan of overall angst, or breakup scenes, but everything in this series just made sense.

i watched it in one go, and i have absolutely no regrets. the episodes are pretty bite sized, and even though i have a tendency to skip through some series filler, i stayed alert for this one.

acting: hands down fantastic. i felt their emotions, worry, happiness, all of the above. my ability to become immersed in this fantasy world was extremely guided by the cast of this series. everyone was phenomenal. the only gripe i have is forcing yeowoon to become extremely puppy-like, pouty, or at points overwhelmingly smiley. this is probably just cultural differences in expression, but seeing yeowoon in a world without myungha extremely nonchalant made me kind of miss it during the times they were really close. i think that's just a me thing, but overall, i absolutely loved the talent in this cast.

the end had me crying, and though i'm a big baby, this series definitely deserved my tears. it's a story about second chances, rewriting failed second chances, a story of desire, and redemption after giving up on the cruel reality of life.

absolutely recommend, like i said, among the top Korean BL's i've ever seen. definitely deserves its stars.
