Bae Suzy is amazing!

The drama could've been 8 episodes, the writing was great except the filler episodes were exactly that, if you miss them, you didn't miss much. Could've done without the lesbian love interest, (once you get the context, you understand). I think if they were going to do filler episodes, they could've given us more about the wishers.

Bae Suzy is the star (I could be biased) trying to not spoil anything but she did the role justice. I will say the growth of her character is written well.

I highly recommend this if you're a Bae Suzy fan arguably her best work. I recommend if you are interested in romcoms, this is one of the better dramas in the genre this year.

Binge watched the whole thing

I'm seeing a lot of hate on this show that I don't really understand. I actually really enjoyed watching and wanted to finish the series as quickly as possible. while maybe the pacing could have been different or some of the subplots more flushed out, I really loved the interactions between the main leads. the interactions between the grandmother and as friend were also memorable as well. I could see people hating on this for maybe the religious reasons about belief of angels and their responsibilities, but if you remove those prejudices I think the story is quite interesting. I thought the visuals were lovely and the CGI was well done. I could easily recommend this drama and recommend people giving it a chance even if it's getting rated poorly.

Have been waiting for this. Like a wish came true.

They promised us comedy, and they did not disappoint. Loved every episode. Just like my kind of humour. I laughed, smiled and got surprised - that most comedy series can't make me do.
I have watched series relating to Lucifer, Angels, and Spiritual creatures. Those were all biblical representations. And I have always wondered what it would be like if they did the same, but from an Islamic perspective. Guess I know now.
They not only used some of the actual stories and facts from Islam, but also added a bit of a story of their own. Iblis, the Leader of Jinns, was expelled from heaven because he defied Allah. They should have added the backstory of Azazil for a bit more character development.
Azrael's purpose was perfectly interpreted, and I like that they didn't make him the actual villain. They didn't include Jibrael, which is fine. Also, the essence of the story of Bilkis and Khalid is similar but not entirely.

I also liked that they paired Iblis with a psychopath because obviously, normal humans would not impress Iblis, and only a deranged mind can fall for Iblis. Like minds fall for each other. The key was that neither characters saw the other as what they actually were. For instance, Iblis was a jinn but was not taken seriously by KaYoung, and on the other hand, Iblis was likely convinced KaYoung was already corrupt and nothing like a human. She also kept the outfit she wore in hell very carefully, like an art piece or an achievement, you can say. She thinks heaven is boring and hell is fun. Totally made for each other's characters.

And for the people who were concerned that this drama is a false representation of Islam, relax you guys, they just borrowed the names and stories of Islam. I'm guessing you guys watch series that represent Lucifer, Satan, Angels and other biblical representations. The Bible is one of the main holy books of Islam too. When those series twist the essence of the characters, you guys stay silent. And it's just a drama. Hope you won't take it seriously. And please don't come at me 🥺🥺. No hard feelings.

It's an unique story!

Assalamualaikum,

I just want to say, if you are craving real-life stories, go watch documentaries.

It's a fantasy drama, and the drama served that quite well. Though the story is not strong enough, the portrayal of Shaytan in this kind of state excited me. If you watch it for entertainment purposes (which all dramas are for), you shouldn't have a problem watching this.

For religious people, please avoid watching any drama, not just this. Thank you.

For me it is 9 out of 10

Hey friends, here I am with my review. I just want to tell everyone to give this drama a try. This drama is very good, it has a different storyline, this drama will get better with each episode. I don't know why everyone has spread so much negativity in the comment section.. Yes, I agree that maybe everyone might not like it because everyone's tastes are different, but it is not right to mislead others like this.. In the end, I would like to share my experience that this drama is really very good to watch once, so please do not pay attention to the comments, please try it once, you will not be disappointed.

I finished this drama in just three days — that’s how hooked I was! It completely captured my 💯 attention from start to finish. Every scene kept me curious about what would happen next, and honestly, I enjoyed every moment.

“Genie, Make a Wish” is such an enjoyable and bingeable drama. Kim Woo-bin and Bae Suzy were absolutely hilarious together — especially Kim Woo-bin! I don’t think I’ve ever seen him play such a funny and mischievous character before, and he had me in literal tears of laughter 🤣🤣🤣.

This drama truly healed all the emotional wounds I had from Uncontrollably Fond. I’m so glad it turned out to be lighthearted and simple, without any tragic or heartbreaking ending this time. A drama always feels perfect when the ending leaves you smiling, and this one definitely did.

I just wish we got a little more of Genie and Ga-yeong’s sweet moments ❤️ They were so adorable together — pure magic on screen!

Almost amazing. Lots of fun.

Bae Suzy's acting is amazing and the show is worth watching for her alone.

Kim Woo-bin's acting is fine, but his character is a bit... lame?, especially at the beginning. It gets better after the first couple episodes, but it does detract from what the show could have been if the ML's personality was "cooler", for lack of a better word. Due to this, the show lacks seriousness often and makes for a fun, casual watch. Though there are still serious/emotional scenes.

Besides that, eveything else is great. I enjoyed it a lot.

Goblin without stakes and melo

I have watched 4 episodes and i find it very entertaining. The meter is different, but if you are having similar expectations, it's super fun.

Not a masterpiece/ must watch but does not deserve all the hate and criticism I am seeing

Edit : Finished after a Sunday binge. I loved the beats of the story and the performance, but definitely could have been packaged better. It felt choppy and rushed especially in the last few episodes. I feel that the direction is sloppy and would have fared much better if they spent some more effort on the packaging, cuz this is such a waste for this story.

Honestly this was a Genie solo carry job, characterization wise and Kim Woo Bin wise too. I liked Suzy acting as well, it was on point and I loved the chemistry but character's depth was not explored. The other main leads had barely any screen time, loved Sade and Irem tho whenever they appeared.

This is definitely better than secret garden or DoTS imo

Loved it! Absolutely funny!

I absolutely loved this drama. It is thoroughly entertaining with an incredible cast featuring Kim Woo Bin and Bae Suzy. Fans who have been waiting for these two to reunite since Uncontrollably Fond finally get their closure here in an alternate universe that feels both nostalgic and refreshing.

Although there has been some backlash from certain religious groups, I believe viewers should set aside rigid beliefs and simply enjoy the story for what it is: entertainment. The drama begins lighthearted and funny, keeps its humor consistent throughout, and ends on a satisfying, happy note.

Episode 11 stood out to me. The moment when the characters discover their past lives was especially emotional and beautifully executed. I have seen similar concepts in other dramas such as My Demon and The Judge from Hell, yet those series did not face the same criticism and were widely appreciated.

One of the show’s greatest strengths is its stunning cinematography, especially the breathtaking views of the UAE. As someone who loves Dubai and Abu Dhabi, seeing those landscapes again felt like pure eye candy. The visuals brought back beautiful memories and added depth to the story.

The acting is strong, the production quality is high, and the chemistry between the leads shines through every scene. Even the romantic and kiss scenes are tastefully done, enhancing the emotional connection without being excessive.

Overall, “Genie, Make a Wish” is a visually stunning and emotionally satisfying series that deserves appreciation. It is a must-watch for fans of fantasy romance and for anyone who believes in second chances across lifetimes.

Why all the hate?

Im not sure why there's so much hate for this show. I'm not saying it was perfect but it was a pretty good show overall.

The story/plot was fresh take on the reincarnation trope, and pretty easy to follow. Not everything has to be deep and overly complicated. It was a great light hearted comedy that wasn't too corny or cringe.

It was funny, quirky, and a little dark. I loved the chemistry between Bea Suzy and Kim Woo-Bin (pretty good kissing scenes too). The side characters were fun and made the story more enjoyable. The ending was a little sad but "realistic" and satisfying.

Overall I can see myself rewatching in the future.

Unique plot with meaningful life lessons

Unlike others, I actually liked this, and it had meaningful life lessons that I could relate to, and for sure others can with how we should strive to do what's right with our choices and that everything has a consequence tied to these decisions, among other things. The plot for me is not your typical K-drama, and I really like how the FL (Kayoung) was strong on her own and was not some damsel in distress, while the ML (Iblis) was someone who fell in love first despite being an evil genie and was someone who was more emotional, to the point where he even cried more than the FL because of his love for her. I also really liked the lesbian representation with Minji, though I really felt bad for her when she discovered she fell in love with Pangeum instead of a normal woman her age and then proceeded to make her deal with her death because she saved her and then Kayoung immediately after. Lastly, the relationship of Kayoung to her grandmother was really touching to me personally since I could somehow relate to it. I hope, just like how Kayoung made happy memories with her grandma when she turned young, that all our grandparents can also experience the same thing before they have to go. Overall, this is a 9/10 for me for the great acting, especially the last 2 eps, and the unexpected happy ending.

remarkable reunion!!!!

Genie, Make a Wish (다 이루어질지니) is a 2025 South Korean fantasy–romantic drama that beautifully weaves together magic, morality, and human emotion. The series, released globally on Netflix on October 3, 2025, stars Kim Woo-bin as Iblis, a mysterious genie who has been trapped in a lamp for a thousand years, and Bae Suzy as Ka-young, a woman emotionally detached from the world. When Ka-young accidentally awakens the genie, she is granted three wishes that challenge her understanding of desire, empathy, and love. The narrative unfolds as a touching exploration of whether true connection can overcome emotional emptiness, and how even the most guarded hearts can learn to feel again.

Kim Woo-bin, widely known for his intense and charismatic performances in The Heirs (2013), Uncontrollably Fond (2016), and Our Blues (2022), brings a complex mixture of mystery and vulnerability to the role of Iblis. His reunion with Suzy, after their memorable pairing in Uncontrollably Fond, has generated great anticipation among fans. Suzy, celebrated for her nuanced portrayals in Start-Up (2020), Doona! (2023), and Wonderland (2024), plays Ka-young with a compelling balance of coldness and quiet yearning. Supporting the main duo are talented actors such as Ahn Eun-jin, known for Hospital Playlist (2020–2021), Noh Sang-hyun from Pachinko, Go Kyu-pil of The Fiery Priest, and Lee Joo-young, who adds emotional grounding to the story.

Written by renowned screenwriter Kim Eun-sook—famous for hits like Goblin, Descendants of the Sun, and Mr. Sunshine—and directed by Ahn Gil-ho, the drama promises high production quality and profound emotional storytelling. True to Kim Eun-sook’s style, Genie, Make a Wish blends fantasy elements with heartfelt human experiences, posing moral questions about greed, love, and redemption. The central conflict—between a genie testing human nature and a woman who has forgotten how to feel—creates an emotional and philosophical journey that resonates deeply with viewers. With its talented cast, cinematic visuals, and emotionally rich writing, Genie, Make a Wish stands poised to be one of 2025’s most captivating K-dramas, offering both a touching love story and a reflective look at the wishes that define our humanity.
