This is one of my favorite drama this 2025

Being a fan of uncontrollably fond kdrama, I thought I'll be biased on how I'll rate this drama but to my surprise, I really enjoyed the series. I'm big fan of Bae Suzy so I know how good she acts and, in this series, she never disappointed me. The show's genre is comedy and for me it did really make me laugh till the end. I know this series will have low rating because of the inspiration it uses specially from Muslims, and I totally understand it. But if you just focused on the entertainment side which what a drama intended then you'll enjoy this. The story was short, so it didn't feel dragged and everyone in this drama is lovable besides from the villains of course.

A flawed fantasy that gave its best

Thus drama is one of the best fantasy dramas that I have seen in a long time. Recently fantasy dramas have fallen flat for me. This drama while flawed, is miles above its competitors. Bae Suzy never disappoints. She always gives her best and my god the cameos, they were soooo good. The meta jokes all landed. This is a really enjoyable and rewatchable show. The music is spot on, as well as casting. There were some flaws as to execution of some chracaters were messy. But ultimately the writers pulled through and gave us a solid series. Episode 9-12, I felt was going in circles, those epsidoes could have been a bit more coherent. That aspect of the show does reduce my ratings. Other than that the story is nothing new, if you have seen Dokkaebi, Bulgassal, Korean Odyssey...etc., it's pretty much on those lines/concepts.

As an avid cdrama & kdrama fan’s point of view

setting aside the religious concerns from others. I’m mainly focusing on the comedy drama itself. Intruly enjoyed this! it was so fun to watch, Infond myself laughing, shedding tears, I felt the warmth. also the portrayals of the actors it was so good! Kim Woo-Bin & Suzy made me laugh, cry, and felt all those emotions. it may not be everyone’s cup of tea but to me it was so enjoyable! And dang the looks Suzy served?! it was awesome! Even the supporting cast was so hilarious!

don’t get offended by this, sometimes we take things too seriously and have certain expectations, but life is too short, just live your life and enjoy the moments you have, genie make a wish isn’t perfect but to me I barely felt it since it was so on point with its funny scene and endearing moments. kudos to the whole cast for such a vibrant and telented team.

Loved it

If you like fantasy series, this one is a truly unique and amazing show. The storyline feels fresh, the world-building is beautifully done, and the chemistry between the main leads is just perfect. The setting, the visuals, and even the soundtrack make it worth watching more than once. I surely reccomend it.

✨ Genie, Make a Wish — A Mesmerizing Blend of Fantasy, Emotion & Fate

I’ll be honest — I went into Genie, Make a Wish without any prior attachment to the cast. I hadn’t watched a single K-drama of Kim Woo-bin and Bae Suzy before this. But wow… this series turned out to be an absolute gem. It’s that perfect mix of fantasy, emotion, and breathtaking visuals that keeps you glued from the very first episode. The entire concept of wishes, consequences, and celestial balance feels both mythic and deeply human.

Kim Woo-bin as Iblis completely stole the show for me. His performance is magnetic — full of quiet strength, charm, and depth that lingers. Then there’s Bae Suzy as Ka-young, who brings a graceful emotionality to every scene. She feels both ethereal and grounded, and their contrasting energies complement each other perfectly. Even without knowing their previous works, I found myself completely invested in their characters’ journeys.

Sade and Ireum also deserve praise for adding richness and mystery to the world. They give off this aura that makes every scene they’re in feel significant — like they know something the audience doesn’t. The supporting cast elevates every moment, creating a delicate balance of humor, tension, and heart. The world-building feels grand yet intimate, filled with mythic undertones that pull you deeper with each episode.

Everything — from the cinematography and direction to the hauntingly beautiful OST — feels crafted with love. Genie, Make a Wish made me believe in the beauty of fantasy dramas again. It’s emotional, enchanting, and visually stunning. And coming from someone who’s been obsessed with Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (Goblin) for 8 long years now — that’s saying something. This show carries that same spark of wonder, fate, and emotional resonance that stays with you long after it ends. Must watch for Supernatural Korean drama fans.

Finally, a Female Lead Like This!

The psychopath male lead in Flower of Evil was written so brilliantly that I’ve always wondered what the story would be like if the psychopath were a female lead instead. I’ve wanted to see a drama explore that concept for a long time.

In Genie, Make a Wish, the female lead feels like that kind of character — calm, rational, and unshaken by emotional turbulence, which makes her fascinating to watch, much like in Flower of Evil.

These kinds of unique protagonists bring fresh perspectives and storylines that stand out from the usual tropes. We’ve already seen dissociative or split-personality characters in dramas like Kill Me, Heal Me, Hyde, Jekyll, Me, and It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, but psychopath leads offer something entirely different — a new kind of intensity and complexity.

Also, in the case of the extraordinary character Genie — in stories, genies often see themselves as superior to humans, believing that humans are weak, ruled by fleeting emotions, and quick to betray. So how funny and ironic it is for this Genie to meet a female lead like her — a human who doesn’t waver emotionally, who seems stronger and colder than he is. What would he think of her now? What would his usual nagging about “humans” even sound like in front of someone like her? She becomes a contradiction for him to figure out — and for us, the viewers, a fascinating conflict to watch unfold.

What’s especially interesting about Genie, Make a Wish is that none of the leads feel ordinary, and that makes you genuinely curious to see how the story will unfold.

Genie, Make a Wish ****Beautiful but Incomplete Magic

A charming drama with heartfelt moments, but I just wish the story had a little more depth and time to shine. I really liked this drama, but it didn’t completely feel like Kim Eun Sook’s usual writing. Something was missing , maybe the emotional depth or stronger storytelling. The 13 episodes felt a bit rushed, and the story didn’t do full justice to its potential, which left me a little disappointed ☹️

The main leads were the highlight for me. Their performances were beautiful, and their chemistry was so natural and captivating , it truly brought the story to life. I also loved the special cameos. Song Hye Kyo looked like a real fairy , so graceful and magical. She totally needs to do a fantasy rom-com drama one day; she’d be perfect for it. Daniel Henney and Kim Ji Hoon’s cameos were amazing, adding extra elegance and star power. I really loved Ahn Eun Jin and Steve Noh too; their performances were incredible.

The OST was perfect and matched every emotional moment so well 👍🏻

Better than Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938

The opinions on this show are really polar - people either really love it or really hate it. I don't get the hate. I rate this as an in-between. This show is entertaining but not something I'd want to rewatch. But it's tonnes better than Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938 which I wouldn't even call a drama. I'd call that a series of comedy skits - strung together pieces of acting that don't have a cogent storyline or plot. It's just watching famous actors say stupid lines with a nice backdrop for scenery. And that got a 8.8, go figure.

This is similar - famous actors and very nice scenery (ep1 in Dubai), however, has a semblance of a plot. The hate probably comes from the fact that there's no young love and young idols to swoon at, and has an anti-social theme. I do notice that fantastic anti-social dramas that feature blood, gore and murder tend to do very poorly on this platform. However the humour is on-point. I love the clever in-jokes eg the digs at the whole Marvel vs Netflix universes and copyright! Maybe I'm also partial to shows set in the countryside.

The only downside is that everything quite verbose and it makes my head hurt. Thankfully the entire season has dropped all at once. I wouldn't be wanting a second season but I enjoy binge-watching this.

Kim Woo Bin and Bae Suzy

The drama is light with lots of comedy, and although there are many unrealistic things, it's a fantasy drama so there's no need to overthink it. Every episode is entertaining and makes you want to keep watching.
The visuals of both the actor and actress are amazing, and this is Suzy's best partner so far.

Finally found the drama I was searching for… a true gem ??‍♂️

When I first saw the preview of this drama, I hesitated for days — should I watch it or not? But the moment I watched the first episode, there was no going back. I ended up finishing the whole drama in one go.

From the very first episode, it never felt boring for even a second. The characters — the psychopath Ki Ka Young and Genie Iblis — were just perfect. Their personalities, chemistry, and growth made the story so addictive. The plot itself beautifully showed how people can be selfish inside and think only about themselves — but some moment was heartfelt especially when youtuber made his last wish for her wife.

As a fan of fantasy and rom-com dramas, this was exactly what I had been searching for.

About the ending — honestly, it wasn’t perfect, but it wasn’t bad either. When a drama ends tragically, we blame the writer for making us cry. But when they make a miracle and let both characters live, we still blame them for making it unbelievable 😅 What a joke, right? Personally, I’m just happy they got to live again — my head and heart felt so at peace after that.

And the acting… absolutely amazing. Suzy and Kim Woo Bin were outstanding, and the chemistry between them — whether they were fighting or being romantic — was at its peak as always. The supporting cast also did an incredible job.

I don’t remember much of the OST in detail, but every track blended perfectly with the story. Nothing ever felt out of place. And honestly, these two made me smile so much throughout the show 🥹❤️

If you haven’t watched it yet, please do. There are only a few dramas that I never regret spending my time on — and this is one of them. I rarely rewatch K-dramas, maybe just two or three in total, but if I could erase my memory and experience this one again, I absolutely would. It’s definitely worth rewatching.

Overall, Genie, Make a Wish is the drama I’ve been looking for — one I could finish in a single night without any boredom.

Some K-dramas just hit different 😭💫
Started with “just one episode”… ended up finishing Genie, Make a Wish in a day 😩❤️
The story, emotions, and chemistry — everything was just too good!
Now this is what real addiction looks like 😭✨

funny & unexpected

I was curious to watch this kdrama after seeing some mixed reviews. Definetly enjoyed it, had some good laughts. I loved the acting, story line & characters. Nothing too complicated but fun to watch. All actors did a magnificant job, specialy main leads. And yet each character had a story that was covered nicely.
The decor and landscape are amazing as well.
Perhaps it got bed reviews if you dont like this kind of humour.
For my taste: it was a delight to watch and discover each episode the quirkiness of the characters.
