Similarities:

1. Noona romcom with a bickering contract relationship.
2. Part of FL's motivation for the relationship is revenge on an ex.
3. Touches on issues in women's personal lives and the workplace.
4. Tropey, but in a self-aware way.

Biggest differences are the length (at 22 episodes, DJS is nearly twice as long as NGNL and it drags) and the naivety of the FL (SFL in DJS is the worldly one), but they're both relatively light, fun noona romcoms that also manage to deal with the expectations society has for both single and married women.

-Both are Korean dramas
-Both are contract relationships
-Both have a similar bubbly atmosphere

Overall, No Gain, No Love gives off the same vibe as Business Proposal and it also gives you similar feelings throughout the show.

Both females hire or get fake husbands in weird ways due to work /professional pressure !

Both dramas tackle career discriminations against women ( more so single ones )

if you liked NG, NL... you will enjoy oh jak doo ( although it's 20+ episodes and drags a bit after ep 15 )

What does a “mature” kdrama rom-com look like? Both dramas attempt to answer the question in flawed but interesting ways.

Both FMLs mother and father do not treat their daughter's rights.

In NGNL, FML parents always take in children, in foster care. This results in not taking care of their own daughter and if you ask me it's pretty obvious that the daughter hates that her parents dont care about her because they are constantly spending time, with the foster kids. And it's not a one-time thing either, but a constant one, when one foster child leaves another one is brought in. This makes her dislike the kids as well because they are taking her parents away. Although I understand that fostering and giving a roof over the heads of children is good, not paying attention to your child makes it no good. No point tbh. Even if the parents have a lot of love in their hearts for their child, there is no point because on the outside the lowkey abandoned her. Its basically giving -- you live under my roof, I cook, clean, and give you clothes and money so I'm doing everything a parent should SO ME NOT mentally taking care of you, not watching you, not talking to you, not asking about school, not nagging out you should not be a problem.

Similarly in LLTG, the parents of FML abandon their child at 3 years to fight war. They took all her other siblings with them but left her behind with her calculating grandma and aunt. For the next 15 years, her parents are in the war, neglecting her and her grandma and aunt treat her like a rat. They dont give her good food, clothes, or a place to stay, BTW her dad is the provider for the whole family so technically they should treat her like a princess to stay in good with her dad. But they dont obviously. They even sent her to some old house in the suburbs, where she has one maid, more like a sister and a nanny/house help. This nanny takes all the money does not give 2 shits about FML, and gives her bad food, clothing, etc. One day the war ends so her parents send a letter that they are coming back. The grandma sends for her to come back. She ends up coming in at the same time as her parents. The grandma lies about FML being bad and to teach her a lesson they send her to the countryside. Although FML tries to refute her parents dont take her seriously. Now that her parents are back you'd think they'd shower her with love but they dont especially the mother. She treats he daughter like a soldier that's gone stray, has no discipline, and instead gives more love to the calculating aunt's daughter. They dont understand that she's been on her for 15 years but treat her all garbage.

Similarities:

1. Contract marriage for economic security and personal gain.
2. Noona romcom with a side of chaebol shenanigans.
3. Sibling relationships play a big role in story and character arcs.
4. Bickering lovers.

Biggest differences are that in WI the contract marriage is between SML and FL instead of ML and FL like NGNL and the chaebol plot line in WI is more melo from the start. But both FLs see marriage as a means to an end and end up falling in love despite themselves.
